[Q] How to build incremental updates for CWM ?

Hi Guys
The problem I see for most ROM developers is that they only provide full releases , so existing ROM users should reflash the whole ROM for only a few minor upgrades and the worst part is that they may lose some apps due to upgrade. like the latest HyDrOG3N-ICS upgrade which deletes all google apps and you need to flash them separately again after upgrade.
So I am going to make incremental updates for the ROM I use and share it with community. lets say I have two full releases named ver1 and ver2. is there a way to compare these ROMs and create a CWM flashable incremental update from ver1 to ver2 ?
I know it may not be as easy as it sounds , just point me to right direction and tools and I will do my homework
I would have thought the starting point is to ask the dev for his permission .
jje
My question here is a technical question , has nothing to do with dev.
Lets say I want to do it for myself
Although I dont think it needs devs permission , do all devs have official permission from google ? NO , android is an opensource project and anyone can fork it respecting the GPL. also the thing I am going to accomplish here is not modding any ROM , just incremental updates for users. the user will still get the original ROM. it is for community , not for devs

Little clearing about ROM names

Hi,
Can someone make clear to me as a noobie what are the differences between "cores" of the ROMs?
I see there are most favourite ones like "XWLP9" and "AOKP" - what are the differences between them? I see AOKP has more updates from kernel and maybe some other things in addons? Besides XWLP9 seems to me more stable but I only observe rom peoples comments and replys so can someone tell me which ROM core I should be focused on when choosing ROM? Some advices, experiences what you have with them - ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES maybe or something ... I see there are roms like these two from what I want to choose:

Thank you for all your advices ...

Google is your friend.
XWLP9 is the latest stock/official ROM version from Samsung for the SGS2 (GT-I9100).
So, these kind of ROMs are based on Samsung stock ROMs ... with some customizations (e.g. rooted, some removed bloatware, some custom themes/mods, etc.).
The other kind of custom ROMs have AOSP (Android open source project) or ASKP (Android open kang project).
So, they are either on pure Google Android OS or Linux. Usually there is a team of developers who share their parts/versions in binaries and as source code.
The kernel is kind of "core" of the firmware.
Every ROM contains its own kernel, as this is a basic part of the firmware ... and the phone can't work without it.
You can also flash other (custom) kernels on a ROM.
But not every kernel is compatible with every ROM.
OK thank you I read about these two a lot i needed some experienced opinion and clearing it up for me.
What I basically needed was opinions about these two versions from experienced users. If non oficial and trully open made ROM is better and in what ways or is it better to stay on oficial ones etc. This is what i wanted most from this thread ...

Miui9 rom closed

since the thread has been closed by the MIUI 9 Rom developer, is there anybody among the developers who will continue the development of the ROM in question?

There are 2 non xda devs who are doing miui 9 patchrom roms
1St http://www.manosp.com/archives/1220
- i tested it, fex chinas store apps and one additional settings in chinase, few languages
2nd http://www.romzj.com/rom/66843.htm
- i test it it too, same performance but multilanguage, and only CN are few store like apps
Both roms doesnt have Gapps, if you were interested i can debloat it and add gapps.. this roms are patchroms.
Please, I am also a big fan of rom miui, who I consider the best with the closing date of providing me the developer link or if any other xda user will continue with the miui project
fully agree with you the MIUI is the most beautiful among the released roms.
If you can do this and open a new thread you would certainly be greatly appreciated, the MIUI rom was very popular. Currently, version 9 of the MIUI works well, but it is always possible to improve with new versions that add new features that are continuously released.

It has been a looong time since I knew about those things but if I remember your base ROM should have that same Android version as your port ROM.
And if you want an advice, please consider building a ROM from source. Troubleshooting is hell with ported ROMs. Building ROM is scary because it has commands that you don't know yet, but it's way more easy than porting. Trust me.
Here is a guide on how to build ROM from source :

@XdaNeko
It's NOT the version of Android what does matter. If that would be the case then an upgrade via OTA never would be possible.
A Stock ROM always at 100% matches phone's hardware ( CPU, GPU, RAM, storage memory, etc.pp ) - it's built by OEM's / Carrier's R&D department, the guys who know best of.
Whereas a Custom ROM necessarily does NOT because it gets built by 3rd-party companies/programmers associations - who think they can do it better, but don't always have the specific Android device at hand.
