There's some discussion of Dolby Atmos on the Le Max 2. Is this a joke?
I've always thought of Dolby as a commercial enterprise driven compression scheme for multi-channel audio, and nothing more, in home and commercial theatre environments. Like Dolby compresses audio to then be uncompressed for playback using an amp that has Dolby's blessing ($cu-ching$ $cu-ching$), similar to the way Zip and Rar compress files on a PC for archiving, or even mp3 and flac are compression schemes for audio. In a way I consider Dolby ransomware: "Thanks for buying the Dolby disk. By the way, we screwed you. You'll need a licensed amplifier to decrypt the audio we encrypted for you."
So the tech goes in home cinema has, for me, been anything but easy to follow: dolby pro logice - TrueHD - 5.1 - then 7.1 Dolby Digital (that's just dolby, not to mention DTS stuff), now atmos is big and being thrown around a lot, and I roll my eyes, but for some reason I feel the need not to ignore it anymore
Now I'm supposed to believe Dolby can work some magic and make me feel like I'm in a Cinemark XD theatre on the Le Max 2 with cell phone stereo speakers? I just don't get it. Can someone explain why I should have Dolby Atmos?
Well like most smartphones on the market, the Le Max 2 has a single bottom firing speaker that's just there to provide basic functionality. If you're going to consume media for any extended amount of time, then you of course pull out your headphones, and that's where Dolby Atmos comes in. It's a surround sound technology, but it also provides you with system wide audio equalizer, and other audio settings and presets. Features that were fairly common in portable audio and video players back in the day, and now very poorly implemented if at all on smartphones.
I guess I need to try it on headphones. Only headphones I use are blue tooth, but I still think I won't be saying best thing since sliced bread. How you get surround sound experience with headphones? There are 2 speakers, one on right ear and the other on the left. As for a difference in sound quality across cheap vs quality headphones? I'm all in for that.

It's basically a complex set of algorithms that attempt to virtualize various sound "objects" spatially - by the way, on a stereo device the processing is not as advanced as on theater grade equipment with 5.1+ outputs.
I've tried it once or twice on my Le Max 2, and while I considered it to have an interesting effect on the sound field, it's not something I want in the audio processing chain full-time. Oh, and it works best with ear/headphones... ?
Well, I tried it and it makes music sound much much better. I cannot express in what ways it makes it better, but my ears fell in love with Atmos alterations.
Nothing, its pure marketing as surround on stereo headphones is fake. I have it turned off because surround on stereo headphones sounds like garbage.
Dolby Atmos & CDLA mode are joke, I disable them.
I installed Audio Beats customized sound with Eq, 3D reverb and Bass boost. clear and amazing
If you want try DFX audio enhancer from Playstore. I bought this app and always use it on all my devices it's make sound pretty good. For volume if not loud try app "Volume booster GOODDEV" if speaker is loud enough, I just boost it 20-30% its plenty loud.
I forgot.... What was the name?? .....
Yaa it's Viper?????.....
Have you heard the name before?
Sorry for bad english??
Viper4android is the best!!,,??

Dolby can only develope with the limitations of Android. With Android On it should be better, but remember that programming audio is probably one of the most difficult things to do especially on Android.

Hi, i just wanna share a little for all of you in this community especially those who use Atom Life. This trick can be applied for other phone too. Feedback are always needed. So here's the Tips & Trick :
Music & PDA Let's mix it!
There's two audio output component in your PDA, headset jack and speaker. Most of all time to reach a good SQ (Sound Quality) many of PDA user apply different setting for each output. Example : if you use the earphone then u change the EQ, SRSWow setting even the player setting itself to reach the quality you want. But after u switch to speaker (in case your friend want to know what are you hear), the sound is disaster and you have to switch it again to match the quality for the speaker.
So how about if i can give you a little trick to set the optimum setting for both speaker and earphone? It would be great...
I have do some research and of course testing to find the perfect optimum set for both.
1st Rule in music : A good music need a good player to show it's potential sound. And what player do you use? WMP is bad and suck we all know that, so what the other choice that good? I recommended you to use Nitrogen check it here. Why? Coz it's deliver a superd audio quality and better than core player. It's only use minimum ram than core player (tested on mine running Nitrogen on standby use only bout 65% while Core suck 75%). There's plugin for FLAC playback (audio lover like it ). Also it's support skin too. Make your phone more music friendly. For qvga device you view here.

}
2nd Rule : You have a good music, and a good player. What's next? An optimized setting for your audio output both speaker/earphone. Where it can be done? Check out your equalizer panel (Atom life O2 Software). Disable the build in equalizer, turn it off. Now move to the WOW HD Settings (enable this). Set this :
SRS 3D Effect : 50%
SRS Center Effect : 80% (on earphone if you feel that it's not balanced you can adjust it. set it as you like 50% or more, coz everyone ear is different and unique)
SRS Focus Level : 80%
SRS Definition Level : 20%
SRS TruBass : 80%
On nitrogen set EQ to flat (or don't turn on).
This setting combined with nitrogen will give you a great audio quality gain. With large frequency range to hear more through speaker/earphone. And also a superb bass quality deep but not overpress other sound channel. Making your music more great (feel the difference test it with your favorite song).
3rd Rule and the important once if you use earphone : Buy yourself a good quality jack converter from 2,5 to 3,5mm.
So you can use a good quality earphone to listen your music.
Here's what i use MD E945 BY MDISK
Impedance : 32ohm
Speaker : 13,5mm
Sensitivity : 106db @ 1Khz
Frequency range : 10 - 25.000Hz
WHAT YOU HAVE TO WATCH WHEN SELECTING A EARPHONE IS THE CAPABILITY OF THIS PHONE TO DRIVE THE SIGNAL. (Example : you bought a high end set or earphone but it have a high impedance and therefor your phone cannot drive it signal coz there's not enought power. So it's useless.)
Another way to increase is to buy an small earphone amplifier for your phone (but it's not practical, so don't suggest it).
Also when you have a nice set of earphone, don't forget to burn in before to optimize the quality of the speaker. All About Burn in view here. And if you want to burn in your earphone download burn in wave here and view my burn in playlist.
That's all i can share, waiting for your feedback. Perhaps you can share your setting too here or audio player you use. Thanks.
Hey there,
For the people out there who think that the stereo volumes on aosp roms and the likes are too low compared to the sense roms, here is the solution.
Flash this package:
http://d-h.st/PhS
Once you've flashed this you need to select Noozxoide in:
Settings -> Sound -> Music effects
Choose Noozxoide EIZO-rewire PRO Series (obviously)
Now you can play with the settings which you find best suited for your music taste. Open up the Noozxoide app!
Now you see this menu:

Line-Out Audio Monitor is meant for the headphones and Built-In Audio Monitor is for the stereo speakers the hox+ is packing.
Now go to the Built-In Audio Monitor and scroll down a bit to the Digital Presents (you can obviously play around with whatever you like but I'm now just showing you my settings)
Personally I have it set to Gaming (PSYC) but you can set it to whatever you like ofcourse.
Well guys, have fun with it and I hope I've helped you out with this.
Credits go to codexc over at the HOX forums, just de-bloated his audio mod for us!

I tried this, because the sound volume of the AOKP rom i use from maxwen is my only problem at the moment (normal speaker on the front). I often can't hear people on the phone well enough when there is some noice from e.g. streets.
So finding this let me hope, but after activating Noozxoide and setting volume enhancer to max I could not hear any differences... :\

Thanks for the feedback, think I know what the problem is.. the enhancements are only made to the speaker on the backside and not to the speakers on the frontside
So this mod might not be what you're looking for but would be more suited for people that listen to music or something through their speakers, sorry mate!

I think we can only hope the correct drivers become available one day so that AOSP based roms have better audio. I've tried all kinds of apps and mods, some work a little but generally I find it just makes the speaker even more tinny sounding.
Thank You :good:
how can i uninstall it???
how can i uninstall it???
ist there still no solution for this? :\
I'm really thinking of selling the peace because it renders useless for me --> No client certificates in e-mail client with original ROM, no acceptable sound level on the phone with custom ROMs :\

Since this is a flashable zip, you can not uninstall it...
Guys! This will not work with the new AOSP roms! The audio drivers were fixed and we don't use the ICS blobs from the HOX anymore, therefore making this mod useless.
P.S.: To uninstall just dirty flash your rom again without wiping, there is indeed no uninstall script.

You need to hear a difference even with notification sound
Refer to this frequency response curve.
My audio settings, and poweramp settings are included. I don't use both at the same time. Also, if an equalizer app isn't causing a lower volume, it's giving you a placebo effect and a ton of distortion.

Why not?
so, if I don't wanna use an app, but only the system EQ, what settings do you recommend? I want deep bass but also loudness; thanks!
...nevermind; i followed post #1 instructions, I finally understood that I should make both adjustments and I used the moded/pro version of flat eq (app)
so, regarding the setting in post #1 (flat EQ + internal EQ): not happy at all; I tested them and I had a lot of distortions at volume above 70%; so, I tested other solutions that were presented by the same german forum and I am much more happy with this one (only internal EQ, no external app):
Dolby Atmos: ON (Auto)
EQ: as in image
Adapt Sound: ON, MAX (>60) - only for headphones

Some questions about this.
On the Adapt sound part. Im guessing you mean MAX (for 60+ years old sound adjustment?)
Secondly, In there you also have the option to change between 'Clear' and 'Soft' sound if you press the settings wheel beside the 60+ option. which one should it be there?
And lastly. When you say "only for headphones", do you mean the option 'Only for Media', where you can choose only for media or media/calls?
