Wow, we finally have a modified kernel for LOS, great job! I will test it out later..
Is it possible for you to add Fauxsound sound control to the kernel in a future release?

I don't think that's the greatest idea as faux sound is notorious for being buggy/breaking **** when not implemented properly.
An alternative would be boeffla sound or something, I'll look for an alternative and contribute it to this project.

@stefx98 as @_LLJY said I will explore other options

Ok, keep up your good work

Hi!
Thanks for your work. So this kernel is based on 3.4, right? and it's only for Lineage OS?
Thanks!

Fauxsound is dead since Marshmallow, it is now deprecated, and should not be used.
I read about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65346831
It says that fauxsound is bad for the kernel.

This is nice - Well done panzerox!
Don't know if its easy to implement but UV (under volting...) would be nice as well...
Otherwise I'm with you... Some Govs, some I/Os, OC CPU/GPU and done...
But take this as an future suggestion. I'm still not using LOS so I have no vote here actually

Good job kerbal magister. Keep this up. But please... Don't take my part of kernel industry in Z3 section. Thanks for your awesome work. Greetings from Poland.

QC2.0 is under testing right now . I do not have a QC charger so I have to rely on other's testing.
Yes. Ive tried applying the patches .... Spent 8 hours trying to do it and I got tonnes and tonnes of errors . Ill try again some other time.

Custom kernel for LOS, nice one :victory:
As for new features, from top of my head:
1. Intelliplug hotplug (MPdecision is terrible)
2. GPU lowest freq 27mhz
3. Adreno idler (I saw you mentioned it already)
4. Simple GPU algorithm (by faux if I recall correctly)
Those GPU features should help to improve battery life, as I think the Simple GPU algorithm keeps GPU freq at lowest (27mhz if included) while using the phone, as opposed to 200mhz which is the behavior ATM.
I can't test the kernel sadly since top of my touch has stopped working (was unglued before - f*cking Sony) and I'm in process of selling it, I might go with another Z3C again, however I'm leaning towards Z3, anyway this suggestions should further improve the kernel.
Cheers

1. Sure
2. I have just changed lowest to 100mhz rather than 27mhz ... Just to suppress the lag. Ofcourse it can be changed
3. I actually have mentioned that I won't be adding adreno idler. Took me several tries to get compile with it... And when I did, it didn't work properly . :silly:
4. Yup. That's a good suggestion ... Though I'm not sure, I might have added it already. The feature list is what I remember adding. You can look at my GitHub for all the features.
That's sad. I had the same issue and got it replaced under warranty . My battery has actually weakened drastically. So I have upgraded my device and given the z3c to my brother (getting battery replaced soon). So the z3c is my main Dev device for now
I hope you can get it fixed

IMHO,
Closed source SuperSu (since v2.76* approximately. was the last by the real, Chainfire after he sold it to CodingCode, who nobody knows) is both a privacy and security concern: SuperSu now belongs to CodingCode which is a subsidiary to a large global telecommunications company, JJWorld Network Technology Co., LTD. Beijing China. I don't trust it and why the secrecy. This is the reason behind the sudden rise of both opensourced: Pierre-Hugues SuperUser and TopJohnWu's Magisk Manager. (Both rapidly playing catch up)
I would never give administrative rights to an authority I do not know, use at your own risk.
[emoji7]
*Some v2.76 stable were being supplied by Chinese website's even before Chainfire had officially released his v2.76, due to a communication error and without his knowledge, and had contained a bug that v2.76 was designed to fix.

Flashing magisk or anything that involves patching is an issue now. I'll try to fix it ASAP.

New Build out:
-QC2.0
-Changed Min GPU Frequency
-Fixed issues with installing Magisk and other boot image patchers

thanks for your great job. i wonder, is it hard to make it flashable zip? cause it's more practical from adb..

Some personal thoughts:
- this kernel works only on J5 2015 versions. I`m not responsable for what can happen if you flash on other devices.
- v2.3 for J5 already includes all the previous things from A5 releases.
- if you take any of my work without my permission i'll report you, and you'll probably get banned.
- you should read at least install instructions stated in this post - i won`t offer support for any issues regarding installation;
- bug reports without device variant and logs can't be considered bugs - make sure you provide detailed info when reporting bugs;
- press 'Thanks' button instead of saying it - it will keep the thread clean and keep me motivated to do more;
- feel free to donate to me if you want to support my work.

FAQ:
Q: My wifi is broken after flash. What to do?
A: Flash latest modem available for your device.
Q: Can`t connect to wifi network. What to do?
A: Reboot the phone, reboot the wifi router/ap, make sure you don`t have mac filtering enabled on ap/router.
Q: MAC adress has changed. What to do?
A: There is nothing you can do. That happens because of newer wifi module, built along with kernel, from the latest sources. If you can`t connect see Q2 above. I won`t change back to legacy wifi modules, at least not now.
Q: Device appears as "unauthorized" in adb and notification to authorize doesn`t appear. What to do?
A: Enter developer options, disable usb debugging, wait 30 seconds and re-enable it. Now you should see the notification to allow debugging.
Q: loading
A: loading

Fast charge as in fast charge?? Does our present kernels support that, beacause it's pretty slow.
Any plans to follow it up for a non touchwiz based rom??
does it support skies rom beta ??

Does the kernel work well with a single processor at the frequency of 50Mhz?
If you set a different GPU frequency to 720Mhz when the GPU is at 100%, is the Max frequency set or rising to 720 ignoring the set frequency? ?
Finally something interesting for the lands of the J5
For me the link doesnt work i just get this:

I added 50Mhz for some certain scenarios, to step down the freq if the load is small - screen on but idle (i have screen timeout set to 10mins), or screen off and awake (for AOD on the roms that have it-my rom for A5). Anyway i have custom script in ramdisk that bypasses stock init.qcom.post_boot.sh and sets custom loads for all the frequencies, so the device can go down even to 50Mhz, but step up if the load is reached, so it doesn't lag at all.
About gpu - from what i saw it sticks to maximum set (i use kernel adiutor).
I mostly cherry-picked features and fixes, even from your j5(6) kernel [emoji16] since all are based on same soc. This project started as personal kernel, permissive with otg enabled (because A series has OTG disabled by Samsung), and after that decided to add more things and make it public.
Cheers!

You can see the GPU frequency in real time by using these commands in Terminal (PC):
Code:
adb shell
cd /sys/devices/soc.0/1c00000.qcom,kgsl-3d0/devfreq/1c00000.qcom,kgsl-3d0
while true; do cat trans_stat; busybox sleep 0.1; done
1) The path may be different.
2) The current GPU frequency is the one with the asterisk.
3) Total transictions means the total switches between GPU frequencies.
Try these commands to confirm that the GPU frequency is stuck at 720.
We can bring the current fast charging also on custom roms or even improve the fast charging to support custom mAh and stuff like that. But forcing a battery to charge faster than it's limit can demage and reduce the battery life drastically so I think we will leave it just like that. Greetings

I know, that you have cherry pick from me?
I also found something interesting in your code
Referring to the intelli thermal, I do not know why faux124 used a different thermal control for the TSEN8974. I found that version 1 gives some errors in the logcat when I boot up the phone
I also started my kernel for personal use, specifically to be able to use viper4 ? I just needed the kernel to be permissive. And now look where the kernel go

Grace UX is touchwiz based. Non tw roms are lineage, cyanogenmod, or any other that uses AOSP as base.

I removed it from features/changelog since isn`t activated yet. I saw too late in msm8916 defconfig the CONFIG_THERMAL_MONITOR=y so the intelli_thermal isn`t there yet. I can`t even finish the build (lots of errors), and you have errors in logcat ?. You are way far than me. For now i didn`t had time to chase those errors. I`ll look more maybe next week. Anything else interesting in my source? ?

This is my 3rd attemt at making custom kernel for G3, after few months of working on it, i think its mature enough to make it public. Kernel used lineage cm-14.1 as a base, since then i made over 1500 changes to it. Much features are taken from 3.10 base and its version is probably closer to 3.10 then to 3.4.
R1 to R7 Kernel comes in 4 variants:
Standard and slim version for Nougat and Oreo
Slim verion lacks in additional governors and hotplugs.
This kernel was only tested on D855, but should work on other variants without issues, if any let me know.
R8 Kernel is only for Pie and Oreo Roms.
Nougat and slim versions are EOL.
Features:
Compiled with UBERTC 4.9
Additional governors: Impulse, zzmove, alucard, electroactive, elementalx, intelliactive

These zips are AIO this means it will detect your G3 version and flash proper kernel, a backup of stock boot.img will be created in the directory where the zip is, just in case smh goes wrong.
Also i included a control app to manage the kernel, its based on KA fork made by @bhb27, i made changes to make it work on G3, plus added some other features missing in @bhb27 KA.

Gangsta!
Your out of the box settings are awesome.
Turned on sound control and fast charge both work. PC connection charges at 850mA instead of 500mA.
Set headphone to +3 and it's a lot. I'm concerned about the mic set to +24 default setting??? is that to high, haven't tested yet.
No idea on battery life but cores are nicely under control. Also gpu is very tame!
:good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
I should mention. D850 LOS-N

Thanks man. One thing tho, your kernel auditor doesn't work, I installed it after I flashed the kernel and tried opening it, and it just sits on a white screen. Any idea why its doing that? Thanks man in advance.
His kernel auduitor works well, you just have to give root in magisk.
---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 PM ----------
I recommended uninstalling the old kernel auduitor, full reboot, then go into recovery to install the kernel.

[Kernel] [LineageOS_15.1] [KLTE] OreKazu-Kernel Project [BETA]

Welcome to OreKazu-Kernel Project
My main objective for this kernel project is to somewhat keep it simple but include a few features that I find useful , it won't be bloated with all the features out there.
I decided to share this kernel (at first it was a personal project ) with the great S5 community. Im a noob at this so don't expect much (lol) , as far as I know this kernel was complied under KLTE but my variant is a KLTEVZW , so my guess any other variant that can run KLTE kernels this should work as well.
OreKazu-Kernel is still in beta stages but it still works very well.
* Features of this Kernel*
- 268mhz CPU
- Smartmax eps CPU Gov
- CPU Boost
- Input Boost
- CPU Voltage Control
- Mako Hotplug
- GPU Overclocked to 600mhz ( since LOS15.1 still has a power drain issue higher gpu freq will def drain even more , keep that in mind )
- GPU Overclocked to 657mhz
- GPU UnderClocked to 27mhz
- Adreno Idler
- Kcal
- USB Fast Charge
- Kernel Samepage Merging
- LMK (soon switching to @fbs 's version)
- Few TCP Congestion Algorithm
- and maybe other features to come..

OreKazu-Kernel v1.6 Released
check the OP for download link (updated as always)
Check reserved for changes made to the kernel.
Enjoy!!
Update
V2.0 is now out .
Kernel as been started back off from the ground ( :crying: ) up due to some issues i faced , heck it might start off from scratch again but that time it would be due a switch to a different ( new laptop) workstation.
-sound control was removed due to instabilities from initial Lin15-1 so adding sound control only made it worst ( in my experience)
-a few other stuff are not added back yet but a few thing were added.
- since this is not stable/official release i won't bore you with the details , as always same download link from OP is updated to current release.
OreKazu-Kernel-Rebased_v1.0
This is just a re-base launch ( yep started from scratch again lol ) but decided to switch it up a little .
Pretty much the same features with some new added ones that were not in the original Orekazu-Kernel.
Latest Lin15-1 kernel commits as of today.
Also added another gpu gov , and i dont remember if the other Orekazu-Kernel had the added cpu frequencies.
Download link in OP.
Enjoy!!

I will look into it , ive never heard of wire guard b4 , but it is an interesting feature. Can't say for sure that it will work unless you know of another samsung kernel that already had the support in it ( that would be much helpful ) , but i will take a crack at it and see if it will work and not cause a loss in anyway.:highfive:

It will be difficult to include Wireguard support to any klte kernel atm as it is only available and intended to work on Linux Kernel versions 3.10.y and above.

3.10.x kernels and up? , then sadly it wont be able to be supported.
i guess the only option is if Lineage can support it unless it depends on the kernel aspect as well ,if so then thats a no-go for WireGuard.:crying:

as @kenedielh stated , it will overtime burn(sort of speak)out your device, kill the cpu at one point , also to avoid even more battery drain as Lineage has not fully fix battery drain plus the gpu is at 657mhz compared to stock 578mhz max , also due to past experience testing 3.0ghz its very unstable so keeping max at 2.4ghz is the best course of action in this kernel's case. For example when i was testing Venom Kernel my max cpu freq was always set at 15xxmhz and nothing more and gpu at 657mhz max and between a 100-105 - undervolt ( silicon lottery , your mileage may vary ) .
Also since this is just beta thread im just compiling , testing and sharing builds here , Stable release when ready and very stable/smooth/and power efficient even for gamers like myself , it will be in the Unified section and this beta project will be deleted , think of this as a rough-draft for the main thing to come.( hopefully)

You need to update your lineage to @haggertk's ( taking this opportunity to thank @haggertk ) latest build , i doubt my kernel will work on an old build of lineage since many changes have been made on both kernel and rom sides.

Been using this kernel for awhile, and though we have many good options out there (RZ, blu, and the countless custom kernels in the roms we flash daily), I find that π has the best handle on boosting the smaller cores. I also think the input / touch response time is noticeably smoother on this kernel.
TBH it's not the one I'm running right now, but I'll probably be back to π when the next release is posted.
Go to the telegram channel if you need immediate support. I've only tested on stable 9.0.1.

Hey this kernel has grown tremendously since I started testing it on TG. I used to think this was a "good", not "great", but I wasn't letting it settle. It seriously takes about a good 15 minutes for things to just feel right. If you gave up on this kernel before, try it again, you will not be disappointed in it's reliability.

OP San, it might be placebo but when I turn on enable_prediction to 1 in the country governor options, I seem to get better performance. This seems to only benefit the little cores, when I enabled it on the big cores I started to suffer a lot of stuttering.
Why is this setting netting me performance? Is it off by default for a major reason?
I think as long as I'm on oos, I can't leave π kernel for now. To my use, this is the best one I can find right now. Huge thanks to the Dev for bringing this kernel to 5T.

On ROMs like Dirty Unicorns, WLAN won't work because the wlan module is required
to load on device initcall rather than late initcall like other ROMs do. There's a workaround for it but
it breaks WLAN on all ROMs that have the module built inline or the CAF way

And this one
Thanks for the work, ill give it a try.
2 thing that bugs me are:
1- isnt restoring stock boot.img removes custom recovery and replaces it with stock one?(had that problem before)
2-is the kernel(pie) eas or hmp?
finally:good:
Thank you for your working on this kernel !
I have a problem with the least one. It's an eas kernel. My oneplus 5t restart it's os staying oneplus log more than 1 minute.Using r19 kernel spends about 30 seconds.

Affinity Kernel r21 is up!
Since r21, Affinity Kernel is available for custom ROMs as well. Should work well with every ROM except of OmniROM and TreskMod (which is Pixel-like OmniROM)
because Omni has its own way of loading the WLAN module so WiFi might be most likely broken. Anyway, you may also notice that on some ROMs that have EAS baked in, Affinity Kernel
default settings are not getting applied. That's because the ROM has its own post boot init script that overwrites my settings, not a big deal.
Here's the changelog:
Upstreamed to Linux 4.4.176
Support for custom ROMs
Some touchups for init script
Added O3 GCC optimalization
Readahead improvements
A bunch of kgsl improvements (adreno driver)
devfreq improvements
