Hello I live in Ireland and I bought my Kyocera Duraforce pro E6820 from USA. The phone is unlocked sim and the mobile data is working (APN setting are fine) with Irelands carrier (Three mobile) but when I try to turn on the hotspot that message appear "Network connection unsuccsessful. There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablementof the Mobile Hotspotfunction. Please retry later."
So is that mean that i have to root my device and and change the rom and remove this AT&T restrictions or there is a easiest way to fix that problem.?
Thanks in advance.
Use pdanet app and you should be able to do it. I use the app on my Kyocera Duraforce e6820 with no issues.

just can use usb mode internet..can not hotspot :crying:
What's your firmware version? (e.g 1.015AT-3.xxxAT) The built in hotspot code is modified by the carrier that compiled the firmware, so no, probably no WiFi or Bluetooth tethering without root--USB can work fine though

No. Motorola's version of Android that they put on the Atrix removed Google's USB Tethering and Mobile AP. When we get the bootloader unlocked then we will be able to make a custom ROM that has Google's USB Tether and Mobile AP.
But if you don't want to wait you can just download Barnacle Tether... or you could just add a new APN (in dev section).
Good Luck!

That kind of s*ck$, is that application reliable?
are you talking about mobile hotspot? if you are then it does work you just have to use the right apn for your carrier. im unlocked on a Canadian carrier and use mobile hotspot all the time. check the dev section you can find the apn info there or use one of the scripts to enable it.
If you're talking about wifi hot spot and usb tethering, it's only locked on at&t. If you're not in the us, you're probably better off getting it from another country.

Hello,
Has anyone gotten Wifi Tether for Root working on T-Mobile USA? What's the proper setting?
I've tried the native hotspot to no avail....doesn't work with T-Mobile USA.
Much appreciated.
I was able to connect without a problem. Be sure to choose..none on Security.
I would also really like to know the answer to this question. So are you saying you can't get any mobile hotspot app to work, like the native Xperia one won't work on T-mobile? I've pre-ordered an unlocked C6806 that I planned on using on T-Mobile's network. I'm already slightly bummed that I won't have the Tmobile wifi calling. I really hope there is a way to use mobile hotspot on my new C6806.
Hi, thank you for responding for quickly.
Can you further elaborate on all the Wifi Tether setting? Which "Device Profile" "Setup Method" etc...are you using?

The provider doesn't matter here. Just modify settings as desired (better to put a password if you don't want other people to use it too) and run it. If it doesn't turn on as you want, you can for the first time need to reboot your phone and activate it again. Work very well,

I have an NEC Terrain that is carrier unlocked, I would like to use the hotspot/tethering features of this device but whenever I do it tells me it cannot check entitlement, which is the stupid restriction ATT networks place on it. However I'm using it on T-mobile.
From what I can tell It cannot be rooted, is there any way to use the tether or hotspot without rooting it?
It would seem almost illegal to restrict access to certain services once it's unlocked and you own the phone.... This has to be an issue for other ATT phones right?

You could try PdaNet. There's a good chance though that the wifi hotspot function will simply trigger AT&T's provision app though - it does that on my Galaxy Light from T-Mobile. There's a free/trial version, so it won't hurt to give it a try. PdaNet does have a bluetooth tether and USB tether too. USB or bluetooth tether to your computer, or bluetooth to a tablet with PdaNet Tablet running on the tablet.
Without root, that's probably about all you can do. I can pretty much guarantee you that nothing else on the Play Store will work.
I am having trouble getting Wifi Hotspot or any tethering to work with my new Padfone X on the T-Mobile Network.
Everytime I try to enable it I get the error message:
There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enabling of this service. Please retry later.
I read the phone might block it since it uses AT&T software but I am unsure what setting to change to fix this.
My phone is rooted and hope someone can help me with this issue.
I had the same problem. I rooted then downloaded an app called WiFi tether router. Its $2.50 but its the one that works For me.

It took some work to get it going on my Padfone X (rooted, unlocked, on t-mobile in US/Seattle) but it does work. It does take a little work to get it going.
The app is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter and it is still $2.50.
I used this as my base config from their support site: https://sites.google.com/site/wifitetherrouter/home/device-configuration
Interface wlan0 (Or Suggested by the app)
Method 3 - HostApd
Encryption wpa2-psk
Channel 1
Drivers nl80211
HostApd Patch <- UNCHECKED
Tether works on t mo in lollipop using padfone s ROM.
I am on T-Mobile and use mdkathon's method. To the carrier, it looks like you are using normal mobile data as well rather than tether data. But the native tether app works on my Padfone X with Padfone S 5.0 Firmware without having to make changes, it could possibly be something I removed during debloat process.
I could never get my PFX to tether to TMO with AT&T's firmware, even after doing some of the common workarounds. Flashed the latest PFS KitKat (not bothering with LP) software and tethering worked right out of the gate.
Hi guys, i have a Unlocked AT&T LG G5 H820 (Android 7.0 Software H82020n) and using it on the Three Network here in the U.K
Tethering & Hotspots wasn't initially selectable so i Googled it and found the solution:
Download 'Settings database editor' from play store, after installing you will see option system, Then go to: Tether_entitlement_check_state Click over it then Change the value to 0.
Now when i Tether, it is selectable, but nothing seems to happen & has no network connection. Hotspot is the same, i can create a Hotspot, but if other devices try connecting , it connects, but no internet connection.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
I also have a lg g5 att and u know what bro, u and me and all the other people who are using it outside america are screwed
So true bro!
I have downloaded an app called Tether Clockwork mod, which seems do do the job for £4, but laptop/computer also needs the program installed to work.

What do you mean? I didn't test the tethering and hotspot... But I had an issue that I didn't have 4G, couldn't access the internet just with the SIM card. But now it's solved... Forgot to configure the APN (Access Point Names). And when I bought the phone I was concerned that couldn't be used properly(4G) outside America.

Hello friend,
What u mean? How do u did these steps. Is it possible?? Please could u explain?
Go to the playstore & download "Clockwork Mod Tether" Tether works fine with this App
locked wi-fi teather by Provider
There wi-fi tether internet access is locked by mostly cellular-providers.
I add the APN on my LG G5 - take it from your cellular provider.
I dounload the 'Settings database editor' from play store, Then go to: Tether_entitlement_check_state Click over it then Changed the value to 0 to unlock the wi-fi tether.
I have wi-fi tether ON, then connected other device, and there NO internet on other connected device due the locked wi-fi tether internet access. Call your cellular provider and ask them is it locked or unlocked wi-fi tether internet access. If it locked ask them how to unlock - mostly it cost some money.
You can check the wi-fi tether working or not from another sim-card that you sure 100% works.
I had the same problem, and I founded the solution:
Go to Play Store, and download an app called "Settings Database Editor"
Once u downloaded it, search Tether_entitlement_check_state
Change the value to "-1"
Done, no need for reboot
sorry for my bad english, hope I could help u
