Different GSM and 3G band locking

Does anyone know how to configure the way the phone lock to the different frequency towers? I.e. can we create a rule on how it works out which band it uses first.
i.e. In my area, i can get 2G, 3G and 850 WCDMA 3G. I want to configure my mobile to use the priority in order of
1. 2G
2. 850 WCDMA 3G
3. 3G
Anyone knows how to do this? Thx.
You can't control this as the towers tell the phone priorties. If everyone could choose whatever is "best" - say 2G - then the 2G channel would be jammed and then the 3G channel would be sitting idle.
The base station and the phone communicate and then mutually switch frequencies or channels.
You can manually lock the phone to 2G of-course then manually switch to 3G if/when you need speeds or something.
There are very valid reasons to be able to control how the signal is acquired. Some areas where 2G and 3G signals overlap, you may find that the 3G signal is weaker or problematic and you want the phone to hold on to 2G. It could be a particular band, i.e. 850MHz or 1800MHz.
Sometimes a particular 3G band is faulty so we need to exclude it.
Didn't say you didn't have valid reasons, hell i lock my phone to 850mhz when i'm using the stock ROM but on CyanogenMod can't do it. One reason why I did it is because 850mhz is stronger (obviously) but for some reason AT&T is camping everyone in the area on 1900. I'm guessing they are doing some LTE work on the 850mhz frequency so they push everyone off it to do the work needed but when I manually force it back to 850 calls work just as normal
Anyways, you can manually choose em using the network codes as I said, you just can't set up preferences as you so desire as that's controlled by the network, even if it's for reasons as mentioned. You can just disable 1900mhz and therefore only get 3G on 850 but if you go in an area where there's no 850 license then you wont have cell coverage.

Except Samsung, any other have band selection? or can we develop one?

Samsung have a services mode (not include nexus)
type *#2263# in the dialer
it will go to Band Selection
we can control the phone receive specific band
it may be useful when your carrier is using dual band
and select the phone receive the best band at some very bad signal area
but except samsung, any other have band selection
or can we develop one?
in original android
have a Testing mode (all android phone can enter this mode)
*#*#4636#*#*
Phone information->press menu button , then select radio band->show Set GSM/UMTS band
it have six option, and i tested them in my GS2
they select the band as below
Automatic = All band
EURO Band = WCDMA 2100 only
USA Band = WCDMA 1900 & 850 only
JAPAN Band = WCDMA 2100 only
AUS Band = WCDMA 2100 & 850 only
AUS2 Band = WCDMA 850 only
I want to set 900 only in my nexus, but i got no way to set it
in the source of this original android testing mode

How to enable and use ServiceMode, and change LTE Band for LYF Wind 4 (Reliance Jio)

Hello,
I am trying to find out the way in which I can able to activate the "Service Menu" or Engineering Mode" for LYF Wind 4, Handset from Reliance Jio, supporting LTE. I need this to change the LTE band to Band 40, which might result in better DL/UL speed for Jio, as the speed presently is really poor, under the "Welcome Plan".
Any Suggestions?
Its bad for everybody mate. Just try doing an reset APN. Thats seems to improve the speed. But its consistently fast only at night. Band 40 is also TDD band so effective bandwidth goes down with number of users. Only FDD bands can give us consistent speed because each user doesnt share the band with another but get his own dedicated one instead.

Le Max 2 LTE Band locking

Hi, Is there any way to lock LTE band to Band 40. Currently i am using jio network( offeres LTE in Band 3,5, 40). How ever when i tried with " Network Signal Guru" app i cannot see Band 40 in the list,. Can anybody please advise?
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and change it from *select radio band".
Secondly, never post your QnA here... We have a different section for it bro.
Sorry bro for posting QnA in this section,. And in the select band mode i acn't see Band listes,. all i can see is ' Automatic, United states, P800, and one more ,.
You cant lock a especific band, only region bands on this hiden menu.
EDIT: you can follow this guide and lock the especific band, in your case B40
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-unlock-bands-leeco-le-max-2-fix-t3439154
But you can lost all bands or radio communication if do something wrong, bcuz you are locking in hardware the band not in software.
Check with net velocity app to see that whether your phone really supports band 40.

How do you know which 5G band you are using?

I have recently been getting download speeds of over 700Mbs on T-Mobile, so I was trying to figure out if I was using some of the new Sprint Mid band spectrum - Band n41 (2.5 GHz). LTE discovery says it is on band 66, but that seems to fast for 600Mhz (at least what I have been used to which was just like LTE). Any knowledge would be helpful...
Thanks
Have you tried this app? Works for LTE, not sure if it'll tell you the 5G band, though.

Or try this app, you can select the band you want.
