TWRP won't work with our phones. Unless you really need root, I would just run it stock. Root is a little unstable and battery is worse too. Any reason why you want to root?
There is a custom twrp but secure startup causes the phone not to boot do not flash custom recovery for the s7 qualcomm devices

I just tried and added new system language.
go to Settings, General Management, Language and Input, Language, add language.
If Arabic doesn't show in language list, click on 3 dots on top right and select All languages.
Scroll down to bottom, you should see Arabic over there.
Hope this helps.
From the Googling of it, it sounds like you followed the directions to change the language. It does say if a language is not supported, it will roll to the next language that is... Which would be English. If you added another language (being mindful of how to be able to go back in and change it back to English later)... For example maybe Spanish, might tell you if it looks only partially changed her due to a Arabic not being guy supported as a language to change into...as it's not built into the firmware?
I wish there were better answers, but sometimes these firmwares are localized, and if you have a USA branded model... It might be mainly localized off English, Spanish, French Canadian (maybe?).
Maybe I'm wrong and someone can give you a better detailed answer!

I did that already, it didn't work for me.
Edit: Is it necessary to turn on airplane mode for this process? Also, when you say ota does that mean you started with PL2 and took the ota upgrade or was it QD2 flashed through Odin?

while surfing huawei china forums I found this custom Rom (http://cn.club.vmall.com/thread-2182114-1-1.html)
Did any one tried it .. and if yes what is your feedback about it ?
I haven't tried his newest ROM B008, but I have tried several of his older modded ROM for the X1. Issue I have is that I can't get google play store or google services to work. I've tried varies version of goole play store and google service framework, but never could get it to work. Split view is nice...but it isn't automatic, you have to manually select the windows; not as good as Samsung implementation, but better than nothing.

it is sweet, i m using it, only 2 points to note before flashing it:
1) u need to be already on the official B008 rom (otherwise u will get the write to cust error)
2) the bootloader of your X1 must be already unlocked (if not u cannot flash via ADB)
for those using non china 4G sim, u may also get android.phone.com FC-ing during initial boot, no amt of wiping DATA or Cache (of phone itself or apps e.g. contacts, phone etc the usual sugg when u google the problem) will work, in this instance, simply switch to airplane mode, proceed to connect the X1 to your wifi and go abt dong all the updates via Huawei app store, i m not sure which update cured the problem, but when I switch off airplane mode after that, the FC disappears .. YMMV

there is actually a very simple workaround for google services (other than google+, which there is another solution), and it doesnt involve 'hacking' or meddling with system files, rooting is not even needed (although KangVIP rom comes pre-rooted)
because even on china roms, Huawei has actually implemented the google framework within, all we need are the correct apps, simply launch the default Huawei Store (App Centre) and search for Google Play, GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter and GoogleContactsSynAdapter. After installation of Play, just launch it and install other Gapps u need from there.
Hi all,
Small point to note, somehow Google always translates the Chinese word "shua" literally as the verb "brush" but it actually means the verb "flash" in this context.
Note that translations of "shua ROM" will end up being "brush ROM" instead of "flash ROM".

Sorry, I really have no idea what I had done to result in the FCs disappearing. In fact, I wasnt expecting it to be.
My original intention was to play around with it and conduct some experimental tweaks since I was already on it before reflashing to get rid of the FCs.
One other thing that may have caused the FCs to go away is Xposed framework, you can try installing it.
The attached file below is an old version, install it then update to version 2.5.1 via the Xposed app; I also installed the App Settings module (version 1.8) for per app DPI setting. In fact, this is the tweak I wanted to try on EMUI 3.0 B008, it worked on EMUI 2.3 B010 and I was hoping for the same favorable result on EMUI 3.0. It did.
It was after the above that I re-enabled mobile/data and discovered to my surprise the FCs were gone.
YMMV.
Unfortunately I couldn't make it so I'm back to use EMUI 2.3 B010.
Thank you for suggest me some methods.
ps / I got sme results. with Australian Boost sim is worked but Japan Softbank and Singapore StarHub SIM is won't work.

I don't have this device and, since there's no Official LineageOS released for this device, I can only assume that you had installed an Unofficial one.
Without knowing which one you used, your best bet is to post this question within the following Unofficial LineageOS 15.1 thread that you had installed on your device for support and guidance.

I've made a Flashable zip that enables the trusted face option inside smart lock, I've linked it here
I tried it on Pie and its working just fine, Feel fry to try it for yourself and PM me if you get any problems.
Also You don't have to be rooted for this to work.
You can try this https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603909998 flash it with magisk and simply reboot your device.
its crashing

Just flash this one, you don't need root for this to work.
I flashed the zip, it did unlock the face unlock but it's not working. The camera's infrared lights up but it shuts down quickly and doesn't unlock.
Never mind it works, but it needs a swipe to unlock, I ll see if that's a ROM specific thing, doesn't seem to have an option that toggles it either.

#FAQ
1. What about my data after i install this update?
Ans: Your data is safe after installing the update. For more safety, you can backup your data as an additional safety measure.
2. Will this work on my bootloader unlocked device ?
Ans: No, it will not work with bootloader unlocked. You need to flash the Oreo stock rom to be able to flash this on your device.
3. Why my country name is not mentioned for updates ?
Ans: You may try Indian update zip file and if it doesn't work then try the Mexican one.

I tried TWRP (installed) didn't work.
I'll try returning to stock and sideloading tomorrow after work.
Ok, trying the stock way:
1) Reboot into bootloader (Power + Vol Down)
2) Select boot into Recovery.
3) At "No Command" Screen, hold down Power and press Vol Up.
4) Load from SD card, or live dangerously like me and sideload via ADB (Minimal ADB and Fastboot seems to work for me)
Will update once the push is complete.
I just downloaded.
Gave "Motorola Update Services" storage permission.
Copied the file from the computer to the phone's internal storage.
Checked for updates
And voilá, there was the update.
I'm already running Pie.
Up and running here. Didn't like my original image, but after flushing data, it booted fine. It did say I no longer qualify for updates which seems to be a new thing with Motorola and Pie, but common across other devices too. Either way, it all seems to be working.

Did you follow the steps I posted earlier? What does the phone show for errors?
For those of you who were curious:
1) Software channel remained the same.
2) Dual sim in XT1710-09 seems to be working fine so far (haven't tested a second sim, but the sim statuses are showing for both card slots).
3) No issues with mods so far (Tried the battery pack and gamepad. Hasselblad, projector and speaker are not with me).
4) Build number is PPS29.133-30, Patch Level September 1, 2019.
My phone is in Canada, and the modem patch included works fine as far as I've seen. I haven't fully tested the bluetooth stability yet to see if it's working better than before. Android Auto is working great though.
My smartphone Model name is XT-1710-10, Dual SIM.
I was successfully able to sideload the Update, with the command
"adb sideload Blur_Version.29.11.30.albus.retail.en.US.zip".
It took around 15 to 18 mins for the sideload process to complete, later the phone restarted and showed the usual Moto loading screen for another 12mins or so, for a moment i thought it was stuck, but no, it successfully completed the update process.
Everything is functioning as usual, i noticed that the placement of signal bar, wifi icons, and battery icons on the top right corner of the screen seem to be not proper.
Same is the case with the arrangement of signal and wifi icons on top right portion inside notification drop down menu, seems to be too close to the screen edge.
Additional features I saw after the update are, 3 finger screenshot, Screenshot editor, Media controls provision inside 'Moto Actions'; Attentive display inside 'Moto display'.
Also the addition of "Digital Wellbeing" inside settings Menu.

It took around 3hrs for me to solve the problem, I am still not clear, what was I doing wrong.
What worked for me somehow was... I properly uninstalled the old ADB installations first vis control panel and then downloaded the latest version of adb i.e adb-setup-1.4.6.exe, and repeated the normal procedure of adb sideload, this time it worked.
I couldn't find an option to enable Android Pie navigation gestures, even in System>Gestures, there is no option.
Do existing TWRP and Magisk root work?
Thanks to everyone who replied with advices :good:
It is my first try to Sidload OTA.
I found out that, I needed the latest OPS27.76-12-25-22/23 stock firmware and I was using OPS27.76-12-25-13.
I fastbooted to the latest but, it didn't work again and I think the reason is that my device is XT1710-11 (Chinese), though I have fastbooted it to RETEU version (Modems preserved) and works fine.
If my guess is correct, that means I need to wait for the fastboot version for Pie

I too have an XT1710-09 (Europe, RETEU software channel). Any idea if this firmware will work for me? Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Tencent edition of the ROG Phone 2, and was a bit annoyed to see that automatic system updates no longer worked after converting it to a WW ROM. I did some digging and found out that ASUS uses the IMEI of the device to track what updates the device is entitled to, including the region. So a CN IMEI would only be entitled to CN firmware updates.
That's what led me to write this app that interacts directly with the ASUS servers to look for updates, but using a spoofed IMEI that makes the server think it's WW. It was a bit of work to figure out how it all works, but I have managed it, and it seems to work as it should - I successfully upgraded from .44 to .64 just a short while ago using the app.

Instructions
The app is very basic, but it does what it should. It will check for updates every hour, and send you a notification if it has found an update - or you can force a check by opening the app and pressing the button.
Once the update is downloaded (the updater will notify you when it's done), you will need to restart the device, and upon booting again you will be notified by the system that a system update has been found and be asked if you want to apply it or not.
That's really it, the system will handle the updating from there.
Note 1:
You need to be on completely stock firmware for the update to apply properly. The bootloader can be unlocked, but you can't be rooted or such.
Note 2:
For the updater to work correctly you'll have to allow it to auto-start by going to System settings -> Battery -> PowerMaster -> Auto-start manager and make sure ASUS updater is ticked. Not doing this means you will have to run the app once each boot for notification to work correctly.
Note 3:
If the update fails (after rebooting and starting the update), I will need a log to be able to figure out what's wrong. The relevant tag is UpdateLauncher.

Hats off for you Senior.
I'm on WW_ZS660KL-16.0622.1906.19-0, was never able to update this phone that I imported from China to EU, and your tool doesn't find new updates available to install either. Could it be that I'm on ww firmware but cn fingerprint? (seller's doing, not mine). I'm 100% on stock everything (meaning, I haven't tinkered with the software one bit). Would appreciate some clarification, thank you.

As it turns out, the CN fingerprint does affect it; I didn't think it would, but one of the props that the app uses to send to the server actually changes based on the fingerprint.
I've fixed it, so please try this, and let me know if it works:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1_hYwPi3Q_8tW6gaBnQvNmohWR4Q4wP2o
For me it's the same, unfortunately. Not sure what I could be doing wrong.

Sorry, I had completely missed another reference to the CN fingerprint. Try this latest one (tested and working for me with fingerprint changed to CN):
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1IgDM9T6u4z4LLLudHYIg3hb6OPw7Qz29
It found and downloaded this time, but the update process itself fails, I tried twice. May be because my version is too old? It's the same if I download the update file manually and put it on root, phone detects it after reboot but unable to flash the update.
Just change the fingerprint to WW, having a WW rom with CN fingerprint will cause more issues.

A log would say what's wrong, most likely one of the partitions isn't completely stock - they probably botched something when they flashed the WW ROM on it. Feel free to send me a log and I can have a look.

I can't 'just change it' without rooting the phone, unless there's a way in unaware of. I was planning to do that once android q releases. Otherwise, it's just too much hassle with currently available untested methods.
How do I do that @HomerSp

Sure you can, it's easy just follow this guide, no need to root or to wipe and it takes 5 minutes

I would indeed recommend changing the fingerprint to WW as having a CN fingerprint causes a whole bunch of issues, although that most likely won't fix your upgrade issue. The EDL method is really easy, and can be done in a couple of minutes - and does not require rooting.
As for the log, have you used adb and such? I just need a logcat. There are plenty of guides on how to do that, so I won't go into that here.
You were right it was fairly easy, although the original tutorial should have a warning that entering in edl mode causes the screen to go black and the phone completely unresponsive! Other than that it went smooth. You did an amazing job.
Edit: well, actually, it still fails I'll keep at it
Hey I changed my fingerprint from cn to ww now I am fully covertred I download the update from your app the update size is 128mb I rebooted my device it detected the update but when I click on update it says update failed any idea what's wrong ?

If you get this again I would need a logcat to be able to help you. The update dialog you see on reboot isn't from my app, but it's a system app that I have no control over - so there's no way of telling what's causing it to fail, except for a log.

Thanks so much for this app, I was thinking I would just need to apply the updates manually as they came out. It doesn't seem to be downloading the update when I tap the button though, my data usage stays in the KB/s range or lower. Anything I might be doing wrong?
Hey guys, I want to root my pad. Is the warranty important?
I know if I root it, I won't be able to use Samsung Pass and Secure Folder, but I still want to root it.

Extract boot.img.lz4 and tar it. Use magisk to patch it. Flash it by using AP slot and then wipe data.

It does work, I patched it, flashed as AP, and root is present.
However, I have a weird issue now — when the display is turned off, either using the power button, or automatically after the timeout set in settings — it doesn’t turn back on for me now. When I press the power button now, the Tab goes on, but the display stays off.
Thought it was due to turning off autobrightness, think I’ve seen historically somewhere such behavior. But no, even when I turned autobrightness on now, it won’t come back on now. Every time it goes off, I have to force reboot, to make it turn back on.
Any idea what can be causing this?

I've tested, and I haven't got this issue. Try to turn on the "Magisk Core Only Mode" and reboot. It may be caused by some module.
By the way, the boot file I uploaded is only for Galaxy Tab S7+ T970, software version TH1. What's the model and software version of your device?
OK, that's the reason, I've got T976B. Will have to wait for the firmware for it and patch it then — currently not yet on sammobile…
I thought I checked that yours was the same version, but apparently not…
Thanks

I've found the firmware for T976B. Use Samfirm to search SM-T976B, region DBT. Flash the latest firmware and then patch the boot file and flash it.
Thank you very much! )
I'm surprised — never used samfirm, thought it was obsolete, only always downloaded from the sammobile site…
You know, the tab s6 is the first device I've owned and not rooted.
I have instead installed samsung package disabler, pushed through a couple of ADB commands for shortcutter and gsam battery monitor. Honestly in practical terms I don't believe root is an advantage any more, infact it causes more problems than it solves.
There are apps avaliable now on the play store that with the granting of permissions can do most of if not all of what only rooted apps could do in the past eg. Xposed edge has been replaced with Edge gestures.
Granted there are some notable exceptions such as backup apps and kernel tweakers but nothing game changing.
I won't be rooting my tab s7 plus when it arrives for aforementioned reasons.

Yes you do, you just haven't come across one yet but you will. Widvine l1 support, losing your warranty after unlocking your bootloader are just two obvious ones.
I would like to know what you gain from rooting an 855 soc apart from what I have already mentioned? Not being sarcastic, honestly would like to know. Even true full custom roms probably will be very limited on a tablet, I'm guessing DEX is a pain to incorporate bugfree.
I can confirm it is working fine in a S7+ (SM-T970 EUX). At least in my case.
-Unlock OEM (under developer options)
-Boot in download mode (with the tablet powered down, press volume up + volume down and connect usb cable to PC)
-Long press volume up to unlock bootloader (you will lose all your data!)
-Download the original firmware (Using SamFirm),
-Flash it using ODIN in donwload mode (Optional, just to make sure you are using the same image you are going to patch)
-Extract boot.img.lz4 from AP_xxxx tar file.
-Decompress the lz4 to get the uncompressed boot.img
-Copy the file to the tablet
-Patch it using the latest Magisk Manager.
-Copy the patched boot image back to the PC.
-Recompress it as boot.img.tar
-Flash it using AP slot in Odin and reboot tablet.
You are done! Magisk manager shloud say now it is rooted. (you will also have a BIG warning every time the tablet is powered on, telling you how irresponsable and despicable you are by modifying the device)
Thanks to Nightmare0 and all the others that pointed the tools and hints to do it!
