In order to get my Chromecast on my hotel WiFi I need to perform a browser login to authenticate the MAC address. Since the Chromecast has no browser I would like to spoof the MAC of one my android devices to match that of the Chromecast.
None of the devices I have are rooted and they all have stock recovery. I do not have a laptop with me.
I have the following devices available:
LG G4 (H815)
Nvidia K1
Leagoo M5
Sony experia z
I don't mind rooting or installing custom recovery but again I do not have a PC available. Is it possible or should I just give up?

has anyone used a openvpn client on this tablet? I am running twrp 5.1.1 not nand- v2.1rc3_20150826 - kernal 3.4.39 -A83T_N106_N1061L2BC_1508208.201600412. tested with internal factory ,noneroot and kingo rooted all tested and I have not been unable to get any opnvpn client working tested them all. Vpn connects get IP on tun0 creates the routs, but wont rout any vpn traffic, no issues with wlan0. no issues with the vpn config or with the vpn app client on my other tablet nexus 7 2012 also running 5.1..1 or pc.
So I must have a bad build. anyon else who has this tablet having this issue, it came with 5.1..1 from amazon so not 4.4 I added twrp , it was not updated by me.
Is there a twrp 5.1.1 - not nand image that I can flash?
I have several Android devices at the house. I am running pfSense as my router/firewall and I just migrated to new hardware. All of the affected devices were working with the same pfSense settings before the migration.
Here are my devices and details.
Nexus 7 2013 - Stock Android 6.0.1 - Rooted
Galaxy S5 - US Cellular - Stock Android 6.0.1
Galaxy S4 - Sprint - Stock Android 4.4.2
Galaxy S8 - Sprint - Stock Android 7.0
Nexus 5x - Stock Android 8.1
Google Pixel XL - Stock Android 8.0.0 build OPR3.170623.013 - Rooted
I have determined that the issue is all the android devices have the wrong MAC address in their ARP Table. They are listing the MAC address of the old router. I determined the ARP issue when I tried pinging the default gateway (pfSense) and I wasn't able to. I was able to ping other devices on the LAN successfully. I knew I didn’t have any firewall rules/acls in place on the pfSense box that would block/ignore pings on the LAN side. I googled how to access the ARP table on android device. After checking /proc/net/arp I saw that for the default gateway, the MAC address was incorrect. I can't get any of the devices to use the correct MAC address for the new router.
These are the things I have tried to fix the issue: (most of the work was done on the Nexus 7 and Pixel XL because they are rooted)
Rebooted all devices.
Turned Wi-Fi off and on.
I have reset network settings.
Forgot the Wi-Fi settings and reconnected.
Connected to a totally different SSID and connected back to the one with issues. (Hoped it would build a new ARP table with correct MAC Address)
Statically Assigned IP addresses.
Cleared cache from recovery.
Did an ADB Pull of /proc/net/arp to modify with correct MAC Address. I was not able to push to same place since its in the system partition. I pushed to SD Card instead, and tried to replace the file with FX explorer using root. (This was attempted on Nexus 7 only. I think it had issued mounting system as R/W.. it was weird.)
Tried to modify the ARP file on the Pixel. Worked with FX explorer. Edited with correct MAC Address and was able to save, but when I checked it again, It had the old MAC in there.
Copied ARP file to SD Card edited and then copied back on Pixel with FX explorer using root. Said copy/overwrite was successful, but same old MAC is in there.
All other devices (Windows laptops/Desktops, Linux VMs, Raspberry Pis, Smart Thermostats, and IP cameras) don't have any issues and have the correct MAC entry in the ARP Table. It has been several days since I did the migration and I would have thought that these Android devices would have had the ARP entry expire by now.
Anyone have any ideas or seen this before?
Thanks for your time!
Hi Geniuses! I tell them that I have a smartphone that they have given me and that the display is broken but I have managed to make it work from the PC and I use it to do tests and experiments since I can not buy the display.
I was seeing that several speak of installing Ubuntu or Debian on Android (ARM chip) and I came up with the idea of using the smartphone as a server, in fact if I could connect a disk by OTG I could use it very well.
Is it possible to install Ubuntu or Debian and use it as a server without the GUI interface? It is clear that I will not need it because the display is not functional hahaha. Only the touch works and I have it rooted and unlocked the bootloader.
Any ideas to start using it as a server?
My device is: Moto E XT1021
Hi there , you cannot install it directly in the device , you can however use an app like Linux Deploy (free on the play store) and it will work fine as a server
Sorry if I'm uninformed, but I spent a few days looking for a method to root the infamous multilaser m7. A tablet with a very bad performance to install a virtual machine and at the same time super complicated in terms of compatible tools to improve its android 9. Has anyone experienced this problem, have any tips besides advising me to burn it or play In the trash?
My final objective is get remote access in this tablet without confirmation... none of most usable tools (Airdroid, Anydesk, teamviewer) work in this tablet without confirmation ou USB temporary confirmation every time the devise turn off or the tool updated. In respect of this last thing, I know that here isn't the best place to ask, but all help is welcomed.

AFAIK the 3 mentioned apps make use of a Wi-Fi connection and not of a USB connection. Once you are going to establish a remote connection this must be confirmed, will say the appropriate connection ID must get input.

I agree ... they use wi-fi connection, thanks to God for that ... what I said is that I need to connect to the tablet without confirmation, I need to leave the tablet in my store and just upload and configure it remotely. For this, even installing the Teamviewer and AnyDesk plugins, and activating the direct connection option of Airdroid using USB without root, it is still not possible to maintain a connection with that tablet (mind cracker multilaser m7). Better options for example using Airdroid would be possible if it were possible to root this infamous.
@criph
Because tablet is powered by Mediatek chipset you can try to flash a pre-rooted Android ( Custom ROM ) by means of SP Flash Tool or do it the hard way by flashing a Custom Recovery ( e.g. TWRP ), then flashing Magisk framework via TWRP and finally root Andoid by means of Magisk Manager.

Don't know if you're still interested.
Using App Ops you may grant Anydesk or whatever the ability to always accept external connections.
To enable App Ops on a device without root, you will also need Shizuku. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Good afternoon,
I bought my car with a Chinese screen installed "px3" with android 7.1.1 but it has a problem and that is that the bluetooth module does not work, it does not detect or connect to devices, in fact it does not even appear in the configuration menu.
I have been able to investigate something and I have found that this tablet has not been assigned a MAC address to bluetooth, it appears as "not available".
I have also not found software to update the tablet and try to automatically take a MAC address, on the other hand I have tried to root without success in different ways such as installing .apk applications to root the tablet and being android 7.1.1 it is incredible that none like kingroot, vmos , kingoroot, etc. don't work.
The reason for wanting to root the tablet is with a root browser, go to the bluetooth MAC configuration file and write some MAC address to see if that is really the error for which bluetooth does not work for me on the tablet.
I've thought about connecting via adb but I'm really not sure what process for this android I can follow to actually root successfully.
In case it helps you, I can connect via USB and also via SD slot.
Here are some pictures of the data I was able to get from the device, I hope someone can help me because this problem is driving me crazy...
Update:
Good afternoon,
