How to root Oppo R9s Plus (CPH1611) international version - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Step by step guide for Oppo R9s Plus international version
This is for the Oppo R9s international version cph1611
1. First download the files from this folder (alternative links at the end of the post):
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qbobokagdgme2oa/AABQBtKTmbwChne9z1DaayHca?dl=0 )
2. Than first install the Oppo driver.
For Windows 7 just install the QcomMtk_Driver_Setup.exe and test later.
2. For Windows 10 you'll have to shutdown/power off your phone, than connect it to your usb, while pressing Vol+ and Vol- at the same time, until you plugged it in. Then go to your device manager and search for new hardware.
It will find a new device without proper driver. Install the driver from the Win10_Qualcomm.rar manually.
It will say the driver is not verify able, just install anyway.
After that check your device should now be listed as something like: qualcomm hs-usb qdloader
3. Register the oppo.reg
4. Than extract the file CPH1611EX_11_A.01_161210.tar.bz2 (don't know which programme do that under windows. i used ubuntu to extract, I saw 7zip should do it)
5. Extract the recovery.img into the same folder as the files from CPH1611EX_11_A.01_161210.tar.bz2, or MsmDownloadTool.exe will not start.
6. Power off your phone completely, by pressing the Power Button long and slide to shut down.
7. Connect your phone to usb, while pressing Vol+ and Vol- at the same time.
8. Check your device manager, it should show something like Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader ............
9. Inside the extracted folder from CPH1611EX_11_A.01_161210.tar.bz2 folder, you will find the tool: MsmDownloadTool.exe
Open it and set language as you need. After opening press F5. A pop up menu will appear. There deselect all, but recovery.img and boot.img (if you wanna keep your private data).
For the recovery.img you need to choose your file by clicking into the right side of the pop up menu and search for the location.
10. Flash your phone
11. After successful flashing, power the phone on by pressing: Vol+ and Vol- and Power at the same time.
After power comes on (short vibrate, display shows Oppo) switch directly to pressing Vol- and Power button to boot into the new twrp recovery.
12. From there you can install supersu (.zip file have to be copied into your phones memory, than install in twrp)
13. Reboot (don't need to wipe cache/data)
Install xposed and than whatever you want
Install hookup for ColorOs3.0 to get rid of root warning (It is in chinese, but don't panic, just switch on all options and your done)
Let me know, in case the link above goes down.
I will add pictures for better understanding, when I have time.
Have fun with your rooted phone

i just collected the links.
like i said all credit goes to xu wailin (reason for the chinese sites)
but for you all, i'm re-uploading the complete package with hookup to dropbox. just give me a few days, while my upload here is terrible slow (thailand standard). will post as soon as all is up.

Hey guys,
here the new upload:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qbobokagdgme2oa/AABQBtKTmbwChne9z1DaayHca?dl=0
I also repacked the files in the tar.bz2 to a normal .zip added hookup to remove root warning etc.
for hookup:
after installation go to exposed and activate hookup. IT IS IN CHINESE! but don't worry. just activate all options (all slide buttons) and you are done.
no root warning etc.
have fun and tell me if the new archive is ok. haven't tested it yet.

ok re-up already. try the tar.bz2 and the recovery.zip. should work now.
use 7zip for tar.bz2 or anything else that can unzip under windows. add the recovery.img to the same folder as the firmware and the msmdownload tool (it has to be all in one folder) if not msmdownloadtool won't start

Yeah I had an issue installing the drivers, when i chose the driver files it said they were already up to date.. I followed everything else though. If you updated the .zip I'll try again but it could be a problem with my PC, I'll try again.

Referring to the Chinese user guide, it did say drivers definitely work on Windows 7, the drivers for windows 10 didn;t work for some users. So Master Wu highly recommend users to root in Windows 7 platform.
If msndownloadtool appears as "unauthorized", please open msndownloadtool0.exe hack version and exit, then open msndownloadtool.exe version.
In your case, I suspect your drivers are not properly nstalled on your Windows 10. Don't ask me why but this does happen to some users.

[HOW TO] ROOT HTC RUBY / AMAZE 4G

This is a very simple device to root.
However if you root this device it will likely void your warranty.
There is no current method of obtaining S-OFF, so don't ask!
Requirements:
PC
Phone
USB Cable
External SDCARD (optional but highly recommended)
Internet Connection
HTC Drivers
Battery with a charge of over 50%
Ability to read
Ability to follow directions
Then you must view the following video!
If you meet these requirements then proceed to post #2.
Step #2 - Unlocking your bootloader
Copied from this thread by Revolution
Go to HTCDev.com
Make a account , here then go to this link and follow all instruction's , but make sure you go to this link , it don't show us as a supported device but this work's for all device's me & crackeyes have tried this .
Go to this link after that : here , follow all the step's , below will be my version .
1) Remove and reinsert the battery.

}
2) Press Volume Down and Power to start the device into Bootloader mode.
3) Use the Volume buttons to select up or down. Highlight Fastboot and press the Power button.
4) Connect the device to the computer via a usb cable
5) Make a folder in c:\ called Android & then input the file's from your android SDK their , such as
adb.exe
AdbWinApi.dll
fastboot.exe
6) Open up command prompt. ( Start > Run > Type CMD,). The window that appears is called Command Prompt.
7) Navigate to where you unzipped the ZIP file and go to the folder you just created (For Example: If you created the folder in C:\Android, then you would type in Command Prompt: cd c:\Android).
8) Type in Command Prompt: fastboot oem get_identifier_token.
9) You will see a long block of text. Copy and paste this text into the the token field below (in the command prompt: Right Click > Mark > highlight the block of text > Right click to copy).
10) Paste this string of text into the token field and hit Submit in order to receive your unlock code binary file. You will receive this information in your email.
Example:
11) On the bottom of http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions/page-3 , please input your result's & if it say's failed keep on trying & it will go threw .
Straight from HTCDev.com , & NOTE : THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRENTY
You are about to start the process of unlocking your device. Unlocking your device allows you to install custom Operating Systems (“OS”) onto your device. Custom OS’s are not tested as thoroughly as your original OS, and unlocking your device may void all or parts of your warranty. HTC disclaims any and all liability for proper functioning of your device after the bootloader has been unlocked and for data lost in the unlocking process. To prevent unauthorized access to your data, unlocking the bootloader will delete all personal data from your device including applications, text messages and personalized settings.

Once you have unlocked your bootloader you can make changes to your /system partition.
The majority of you will probably never need to do this. This is because most developers use flashable zip files that will do everything for you. These files are flashed from Recovery Mode.
Let's move on to step #3
Step #3 - Installing Custom Recovery
Now that you have unlocked your bootloader you can now obtain root.
The easiest way to do this would be by installing a custom recovery.
I created a simple bat script that should update your recovery for you.
Boot up your phone and connect it to your computer by usb cable.
Go to Settings --> Applications --> Development.
Check USB debugging.
Unzip the attached file and run the Flash.bat file as Administrator.
Your phone should reboot and go to a white screen.
It should update the recovery for you automatically and reboot.
Now you should have yourself a custom recovery.
If by chance you decide that you would like to revert to the custom recovery then use the same technique with the STOCK_RECOVERY_FLASHER.zip file.
If a .bat script isn't your thing then try this thread: [TOOL] HTC Amaze 4G All-In-One Toolkit by Hasoon2000
Step #4 - ROOTING!
Now that you have your custom recovery installed it's time to flash root onto your phone.
Download a custom rom from the Development section or the HTC Amaze ROM Bible and store the zip onto your external sdcard.
If you do not want a custom rom but just want root simply download the attached Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip file.
If you do not have an external sdcard then store it onto your internal sdcard.
The custom recovery from step #3 will default to an external sdcard if it's detected.
If the custom recovery from step #3 does not detect an external sdcard then it should default to your internal.
Now there are a couple different ways to reboot to recovery. The best way is to open the command prompt up and navigate to either directories from posts 1 or 2 that contains the adb.exe file.
For example this is from post #2.
If you stored it to your desktop directory then it would be something like:
C:\Users\Binary100100\Desktop\RecoveryInstallerForNoobs
so you may have to enter:
cd Desktop\RecoveryInstallerForNoobs
Now enter "dir" into the command prompt and press Enter and you should see something like:
c:\Users\Binary100100\Desktop\RecoveryInstallerForNoobs>dir
Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 4850-996B
Directory of c:\Users\Binary100100\Desktop\RecoveryInstallerForNoobs
01/03/2012 05:04 PM <DIR> .
01/03/2012 05:04 PM <DIR> ..
11/08/2011 02:50 PM 366,661 adb
11/08/2011 02:50 PM 410,942 adb.exe
11/08/2011 02:50 PM 96,256 AdbWinApi.dll
11/08/2011 02:50 PM 60,928 AdbWinUsbApi.dll
11/08/2011 02:50 PM 127,435 fastboot
11/08/2011 02:50 PM 356,009 fastboot.exe

As long as you see adb, adb.exe, adbWinApi.dl and AdbWinUsbApi.dll you should be good to go.
Now without leaving the command prompt enter:
adb reboot recovery
Your phone should reboot and you should be looking at your recovery.
If for whatever reason you couldn't get access to recovery then go back to bootloader mode.
Remove the battery and put it back in. This is to make sure the device is completely powered off. Hold the Volume Down button while pressing power to get back to hboot mode. Just like step #1. Now if you don't see Recovery in the list then select BOOTLOADER. You should now see RECOVERY. Select that and your phone should reboot to recovery from there. Now that I know you're in recovery... let's move on.
From here you can flash your custom rom or root files.
Use the volume rocker buttons to move the highlight up and down the menu and highlight "Install zip from sdcard" then press the power button to select.
Now "choose zip from sdcard" then press power button again.
Highlight the downloaded custom rom or the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zipfile and press power again. From here I think you have the idea.
Select the appropriate zip file and press the power button to install.
Now you can go back and then select "reboot system now" and let your device boot up.
Check the app drawer and make sure you have an app called SuperUser. If you have this app then you now have root.
If you followed the instructions like you were supposed to you should be fully rooted and unlocked the full potential of your HTC Amaze 4G phone.
Feel free to post your questions and comments here in this thread.
PLEASE! don't send me private messages asking for help. I just spent two hours making this as simple as I could to save me from all of the help requests. If you have problems then post in this thread and make sure to reference the step that you're having issues with.

Which is exactly why I made it. Unfortunately the members that just got the device couldn't use the old PH85IMG.zip method because of the Main Version Older error and they couldn't use the tool that xboarder56 made because I had to remove it per request. I didn't want to make a tool that would do everything because then they would never learn for themselves. So I feel that this is a healthy balance.

Agreed. I wish this thread had been here when I rooted. It would have saved my hunting through 3 or 4 threads and trying to piece things together myself. Of course, I probably learned more that way.

I always encourage people to never stop learning.
When I see a script I like to open it up and see what's inside.
Knowing how things work is a great way to learn for yourself.
Before you know it, you'll be making guides like this! At the very least you'll be the A instead of the Q if you know what I mean.

We both have the same curiosoty Binary...I alway open random files and probably break things before I fix them lol...my first computer was a packard bell 486 dx2 66 in 1993 I think. I learned everything I know by myself...including a lot of dos which we still use today for android . good old windows 3.1
Thanks a million!
I had lost my root to the most recent OTA update from t-mo, obviously I'm a noob when it comes to root only, everything else electronic wise I got the hang of. I'm not the type of person that likes things handed to me I prefer given the basic and expanding my knowledge from there, knowledge is a beautiful thing! I'm back rooted and again thanks for this post!

I'm glad that you found it helpful.
May be a Noob ? but I'm wondering since I use my phones hotspot to get internet on my laptop, if I can do this without the sim card in the Amaze, while using my other phones hotspot? I've searched and found no mention of this, thanks for the great guide.

[CLOSED][DISCONTINUED] Moto X Restore Utility - Windows+Mac OS X+GNU/Linux

If you are on 4.4.2 (besides T-Mobile US / Retail US / Verizon US Retail) please do not use this Restore Utility yet. There is no firmware for the X on 4.4.2...yet!
This is ONLY for the big four US carrier variants and the two DEVELOPER EDITION variants of the Motorola Moto X! Do NOT use this on US Cellular, Rogers, Republic Wireless, or any other carrier you can think of.
Also, don't Restore your Moto X is the battery is low. Charge it to 100% or purchase a factory adapter from Team Black Hat so you'll always be fine flashing and never have to worry about battery life when Restoring.
Code:

Some of you who have been with Motorola devices for a while may be familiar with my Utilities from previous devices such as the DROID RAZR XT912 and the DROID RAZR HD XT926. This one is in some ways very similar but in others very different. I could have added support for more carriers and the rest of the X8 Motorola devices, but that would mean updating and hosting all the many more complete fastboot packages, which is a neither fun or an enjoyable experience for me. If you can handle updating and hosting a Moto X, DROID Ultra, DROID MAXX, or DROID Mini firmware then get in touch with me and the Utility can be updated to add support.

Moto X Restore Utility ---- TEMPORARY DOWNLOAD TESTS! NOT FINAL RESTING PLACE
<MODERATOR EDIT - LINKS REMOVED AT THE REQUEST OF THE OP>
Filesize:
This time around, the Utility itself is a filesize of under 1 Megabyte for each Operating System version. However, please understand that when you download a firmware inside the Utility (and these usually range from 700MB archived to 2GB unarchived) that it will take up more space on your machine than the 1 Megabyte.
Recommend Specs:
2GB+ Available RAM
3GB+ Available Storage Space
---If your computer does not meet these, I would not recommend flashing your phone with it. It may still work, but if you are flashing a 1GB SYSTEM.IMG file and you don't have the RAM to do it, your system will slow to a crawl or possibly not flash at all.---
Windows Instructions
Video instructions provided by DroidModderX
Video instructions provided by tomgst/RootJunky.com
Extract .zip to its own folder on the Desktop. (Root of the C:\ drive can sometimes cause issues)
Double click the ".bat" file. This will be called "RunWindowsMotoXRestoreUtility.bat" the image is just for reference.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run --- Option 1. Download latest USB Drivers. [Must be done on first run!]
This process should be self-explanatory but I will explain it anyway. One you choose this option it will begin downloading the 32 bit and 64 bit Windows driver packages for the Moto X. When it's finished downloading, you will press any key to return to the main menu and open up the folder where the USB Drivers downloaded too. Install the proper one for your system.
If you are unsure which package is right for you?
1. Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.
2. Under System, you can view the system type. (32 or 64)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run --- Option 2. Download latest firmware. [Must be done on first run!]
Choose the firmware that is right for your device. If you are not 100% positive that your device is one of the options listed, do NOT continue at this point. Post here and someone should be able to assist I'm sure. Again though, this process will be self-explanatory but I'll explain it anyway. The Utility will begin downloading the firmware once you again confirm that you chose the right one. This can take a long time depending on your computer's download speed!. After it finishes downloading the .zip it will automatically start extracting. You can see the progress bar for these to be able to guess how much time is left. Moving onto actually flashing the firmware next!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run --- Option 3. Restore Moto X [Must be done in Fastboot mode!]
How to put the Moto X into Fastboot mode:
Video by Tomsgt/RootJunky.com
or...
Completely power off the Moto X and have it unplugged from anything.
---To force your Moto X to power off hold the Volume Up key and the Power button for 8 seconds or until it turns off---
Quickly TAP the power button and then HOLD DOWN the Volume Down Key until the Fastboot menu pops up. Once there plug in your USB cable to your computer and the Moto X and don't press anything else at this menu. If you are at the menu, you are in Fastboot mode!
Once you are in Fastboot mode with the USB cable connected to the Moto X as well as the computer you are using, AND you have installed the proper drivers from the previous option then accept the warnings and continue. Follow the on-screen instructions. READ EVERYTHING! I cannot stress this enough!
You should finally come across your choice. Should you wipe, or shouldn't you wipe? I'd highly recommend wiping everything. Especially if coming from an earlier version of software or from a Custom ROM. Pick your option and the flash will begin! Sit back, relax, and let the Utility do its work.
Mac OS X Instructions:
Download and extract the Utility .zip file. We will call this extracted folder the Utility Folder from now on in the instructions.
Open up Terminal. (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal)
Type in the following command without the text inside or the *** symbols:
Code:
cd ***DRAG Utility Folder HERE***
Then hit the Enter/Return key. This will bring your terminal inside of the folder and we can begin the next step.
Type in the following commands:
Code:
chmod +x ./run.sh
Code:
./run.sh
You'll notice something about that last command depending on how high a version of OS X you are running. "Application is from an Unknown Developer blah blah blah." At least in OS X Mavericks, you fix this by going to Settings > Security & Privacy > General and allowing the Utility to be able to run. Then you'll need to type into the terminal again:
Code:
./run.sh
and the Utility should now come up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All versions of the Utility can Update now as well! Run the option from the Main Menu and you'll be able to. The firmware downloaded for any OS version of the Utility will always be the latest for the device that is available to grab somewhere on the internet, if we can help it. If for some reason if myself or another maintainer of the Utility in the future doesn't have the latest firmware (because lets face it, 6 devices is a lot to maintain with the latest) you can let us know through a Private Message on XDA.
Thanks to TomSgt/RootJunky.com for making the video for Windows and for testing.
Donations are appreciated but never expected. You can click the "DONATE TO ME" button on the left-hand side of this XDA post if you choose to do so. :highfive:
I hope you all get great use out of this Restore Utility, I had a fun time making it! Hit the Thanks button if it helped you.

In all my years I never have had the hopefully pleasurable experience of owing a developer edition phone until now. I went into Verizon today and they were stressing when they read my average monthly data was 24+ GB. (I have been light on data the past few months).
One program/dev the is rock solid is mattlgroff and the linux script. Got to say it has been key on my razr maxx. Think maybe on my X2 ... but my memory isn t that good.
Going to DL now while I wait for my new phone to be delivered. errrrrr hate waiting...

I am an elementary music teacher. Use Dropbox and teather my Wifi with my music computers I use. So a recording session is uploaded and can rack up the GBs. They probably have me on a Verizon most wanted bulletin!

Also, my school system Web filters drive me nuts. So much is blocked. So having Wifi from my phone is critical. Makes spending $500 on a moto x DEV ok in my book. As long as I have unlimited data all is well.

In addition to RootJunky's video instructions, I have also linked DroidModderX's video as well and you can find that here.
I'd like to thank them both very much for making their videos and I know it definitely helps out those of you who can't understand my direction (although I do the best I can!).
Awesome work as always!

if youd like to make your script "smarter" i would suggest looking into something like this
https://github.com/Shabbypenguin/One-Click-Nexus/blob/master/One-Click-Nexus.bat#L140
i have it clear out the variables earlier on (like 6 lines above it), but it allows me to then automatically detect the users device and auto configure what options are based on that device. so that later on when they have chosen which recovery they want, i can use one string in my code to handle all recoveries/devices https://github.com/Shabbypenguin/One-Click-Nexus/blob/master/One-Click-Nexus.bat#L322
i also have all this done in bash as well if you look on the repo, some of it may not be of any use but some of it may trim down your script and help you organize your files on your webserver better
Is there any way to get this tool to flash the 4.2.2. CU system images rather than the 4.4?

Extract them to the /firmware/ folder and run the Restore option. This is not a guaranteed process normally, but especially not if using firmware from somewhere other than the tool. Best of luck.
Call me crazy, but even after using the firmware download option, I only have these two files. Nothing firmware related.

Make a folder next to 'tools' that is called 'firmware' and put them there. Make sure the directory looks like
run.sh
/tools/
/firmware/
and inside firmware directly (not inside another folder) should be there
system.img
boot.img.
etc...
I'm having some problems with Run - Option 2. When I input "2" into the cmd prompt nothing happens. The window appears to refresh but I am not taken to a screen to choose the firmware that I need to download. What can I do to fix this?
I was able to successfully download the 6.2 drivers in Option 1.

Gonna try it on a Windows 8 PC and get back to you.
EDIT: Just tested and all the commands worked fine. Maybe your PATH is screwed up and it can't access the windows executable for some menus in CMD. Not sure since there isn't an error message.

Is there any way to check my PATH? (I assume that you're referring to the location of the BAT file). I extracted the .zip file to my desktop so that shouldn't be the issue. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I was able to get the drivers from step 1. to download via your script with no problem.

this is tutorial from Nubia board
This may help you.
But first, root your device like in post #2.
Could somebody rewrite the tutorial in good english, please?
Z9 Mini just got delivered
Has anyone managed to get Google services/Play Store etc installed and running yet?
OK, I have done it, it's about as simple as it gets.
Install TWRP
Flash the root package/SuperSU from TWRP (even though it's in Chinese, the buttons are in the same place as if it were in english, so easy to work out where "Install" is!
Flash gapps-lp-20150222-signed.zip
Reboot
Add your google account details in accounts, fire up Play Store and let it update everything - job done.
Remove SuperSU if you want to use banking apps etc.

Which TWRP do you used?
Used Chrome, so google translate did the hard part.
I downloaded MoboRobo, so the laptop picked up the phone and installed the correct drivers
TWRP:-
won't let me post the link - I've not made enough posts apparently
Once the phone is seen by the computer (thanks to moborobo), extract the zip file and run the batch file within it as administrator.
ROOT:-
won't let me post the link - I've not made enough posts apparently
Download the package and copy the zipfile either to the internal memory, or bung it on a microSD and shove it into the phone.
In TWRP (accessed by powering off the phone, then on again whilst holding Volume +) press the top left "button" which if in English would be "Install", select the zip file and drag the swipe to the right to start it. Then it's the bottom right big button to reboot.
GAPPS (same procedure as applying root, just pick the correct ZIP):-
won't let me post the link - I've not made enough posts apparently
Then job is a good-un!
Does that help?

TWRP 2.8.6.0 in English
For easier handling I translated the Recovery into English - some words might not be that accurate, but the meaning behind it should be ok to understand all buttons
Boot into fastboot mode and use "fastboot -i 0x19d2 boot recovery_Z9mini.img" to test the recovery without installing it. Doing so I installed the gapps package without loosing the OTA update feature.
See download in the attachment and let me know if there is any problem!

The following way worked for me. There are also other ways to do it, e.g. via ADB.
* First of all you have to install the correct USB-drivers for your phone
* Enable USB debugging
* Download the platform tools (or whatever they are called in different forums) => adb.exe & fastboot.exe plus a few other data, which are usually all in the same package
* Reboot into bootloader
* Connect your phone to USB
* Open a command prompt
* If you only want to test the custom recovery use "fastboot -i 0x19d2 boot <image.img>" (depending on your Android version you may leave the word recovery away)
* If you want to directly flash the custom recovery use "fastboot -i 0x19d2 flash recovery <image.img>"
Another way is:
* Download the Chinese one-click-tool package from post 3 or 4 above
* Extract its contents
* Replace the original image file with my image file
* Run the one-click-tool and flash the recovery

The following way worked for me. There are also other ways to do it, e.g. via ADB.
* First of all you have to install the correct USB-drivers for your phone
* Enable USB debugging
* Download the platform tools (or whatever they are called in different forums) => adb.exe & fastboot.exe plus a few other data, which are usually all in the same package
* Reboot into bootloader
* Connect your phone to USB
* Open a command prompt
* Extract its contents
* Replace the original image file with my image file
* Run the one-click-tool and flash the recovery

Can i do this without ROOT, or do I have to root the device first?
In case I have to root it first, how to do it? And how to Reboot into bootloader?
Im just a beginner and would need it step by step.
Thank you!!!!!!
I also translated the Chinese one-click tool. You can download it from Zippyshare. Extract that file in one folder and start "ThemePush.bat". You will get the attached menu to install drivers, root your device and try or install TWRP.

Medion Lifetab P10505 TWRP and Root

Finally ported TWRP to the Medion Lifetab P10505 with working touch.
No guarantees are given, if you damage your tablet, all you do is on your own risk. I have the original ROM from Medion, if you need a full restore.
Please note that the TWRP recovery was not much tested and may be buggy. I didn't test with encryption or the restore process.
Please follow these steps:
1. Download all the files from Mega:
https://mega.nz/#F!pvQCQCxL!dfCHhGkliNSj-Wd3NcRV2ghttp://
2. Unpack all files into the same directory
3. If not done already, install the Intel Driver Package and reboot your PC
4. Unpack the ADB Tools into the directory
5. On your tablet go to your settings and enable USB debugging in the developer options. If you don't see the developer options menu under settings, goto about tablet and tip the build number seven times fast which will reveal the Developer options in the Settings.
6. Copy the file UPDATE-SuperSU.zip to your tablet (via USB or to memory card)
7. Switch off your tablet
8. Press and keep pressed the On/Off button and Volume Down button until you see the bootloader menu. Please press the buttons at the same time.
9. Now connect the table via USB cable to the PC.
10. Open a command window on your PC and change to the above created directory .
11. type the command: fastboot oem unlock (you can lock it again after the whole process if you want)
If this doesn't work goto the below section: Install recovery through flash
12. next type: fastboot flash recovery final_P10505_working_TWRP_3.0.2.0.img
13. Use the volume up or down button until Recovery mode is displayed.
14. Press the On/Off button shortly to start the new TWRP recovery menu. Please be patient until it fully loads. May take a couple of minutes.
15. Now choose install from the menu.
16. Proceed to the folder where you store the UPDATE-SuperSU.zip and select the file and swipe to install.
Note: If you forgot to copy the file to the tablet you can use the windows explorer to copy it to your tablet. There is a new device called Vi10 plus
(as mentioned it is only a port not build from source)
17. The Zip file should install
18. Use the back button to go back to the main menu of the recovery and select reboot and then system.
19. Now you have rooted the device and can create backups in the TWRP recovery.
20. To verify use any root checker tool from play store.
21. Feel free to hit the Thanks button
Install recovery through flash:
If there are any errors you can download the original ROM from Medion.de. You need then the Intel Platform Flash Tool Lite to install the ROM from Scratch (all your data will be lost).
When you run the flash tool, open the file from Medion.de and it will unpack the zip-file in the folder C:\Users\Your account name\.flasher\.download\p1050x-6.0-factory-v2.3
Proceed to the folder Just rename the file final_P10505_working_TWRP_3.0.2.0.img to recovery.img and replace the original file from Medion. Then hit the flash button.
Actually the Intel tool will perform the same command as above.
PS: I read that P10506 is hardware like the same as P10505, so it may work there as well, but no guarantees.
PPS: Credit go to the creators of the TWRP file for the Chuwi Vi10 plus (Highbook), which I don't know their names.
thank you for this, I used it on my P10506, the only difference was thead the command in section 12 has changed to:
fastboot flashing unlock
Cooool!
Did everything on my P10506.
Now waiting untill booting is finished...... CHECK!!
Testing with a root checker........ CHECK!!
That is great!
Thank you!

I haven't seen any custom roms for this tablet, but I actually didn't look much. The problem is that it is nearly impossible without sources to create one.
any new mirrors available? mega zip file offline...

Thanks for the wonderful news! If anyone (Bernie?) could make the files / TWRP image available again, they'd make me and the previous poster even happier
Looking to root and TWRP my familys two P10506s - one still on 5.1 - should I update it to 7.1.1 (last available image from Medion) first?
Download Link
Somebody here who have the files available and can upload it again?
Would be great.

{Guide - Windows} Creating a custom Windows 10 ISO {Yoga Book-driver injection}

The Struggle:
If you have ever installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 on the Lenovo Yoga Book using a standard Windows 10 ISO you know the struggle! You need several pieces of hardware before you can even begin. After Windows has installed your nightmare is still far from over! Windows will be missing several drivers that have to be sorted out and downloaded, some from Microsoft, and others from Lenovo. All this nonsense takes far too much time and effort and shouldn't be required from the end user. Fed up after my last install, I began putting this together for my own personal use. Upon seeing how well it worked I knew I had to share! Using this guide you will inject 32 new drivers into your Windows 10 installation media. All other files remain untouched. Nothing else added and nothing is ever removed.
This guide will not enable Windows installation on the Android version of the Yoga Book.
Benefits:
1. You no longer need several pieces of hardware to install Windows. An eight gigabyte USB flash drive and an OTG adapter are all that's required.
2. Windows setup starts with touchscreen and pen support from the very beginning.
3. After the “Getting devices ready…” stage of Windows setup you will have full hardware support!
The keyboard, trackpad, touchscreen, audio, and Wi-Fi all function allowing for a quick and painless install.
4. Windows 10 boots the very first time with all of the correct drivers already installed, even if you don't connect to Wi-Fi during setup.
5. You now have a fallback copy of Windows 10 that works right out of the box. This is something Lenovo should have provided.
6. Several users have reported a noticeable gain in performance.
Required downloads:
You will need to install four programs to complete this guide. All are small downloads (less than 15 megabytes combined) that are free or have fully functioning trials. To keep things as simple as possible please save all downloads onto your desktop.
NTLite - used to build the new Windows 10 ISO.
Rufus - used to write your updated Windows 10 ISO on your flash drive.
WinRAR - used to extract both the Windows ISO and the Yoga Book Setup Files.
Yoga Book Setup Files - contains all of the drivers and supporting files needed to complete this guide. Updated 4/30/2018
You will also need a clean stock 64 bit Windows 10 ISO. For this you have two options.
Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool or Windows ISO Downloader (suggested method) can be used to download an ISO from Microsoft's servers. ISOs downloaded using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool use ESD compression. This highly compressed version, while quicker to download will increase both build and install time considerably. ISOs downloaded with Windows ISO Downloader use WIM compression and are far less compressed, making them much quicker to build and install. This decreases the time it takes to install Windows by roughly 7-10 minutes! Windows ISO Downloader also has the added benefit of allowing you select which update level you would prefer to download.
ISO files downloaded from other sources (torrents or warez sites) may not be clean or compatible. As such their use is highly discouraged.
Build process:
It is very important to follow this guide carefully. Skipping any of the steps or even changing the order of certain steps can cause issues. I have installed Windows well over 100 times and spent over 150 hours working on this. Once completed you will end up with a Windows 10 installation that runs BETTER than the first time you enjoyed your Yoga Book!
Step 1. Highlight both the Windows 10 ISO and “Yoga Book Setup Files.rar” files. Right click one of them and select “Extract each archive to separate folder”
Step 2. Launch NTLite. On the first launch you should disable auto loading presets. To do so click File then Settings and uncheck "Load auto-preset 'Auto-saved session'".
Step 3. Drag and drop the extracted Windows 10 setup folder into NTLite.
Step 4. Double click "Boot/Setup | boot.wim".
Step 5. Double click on "Microsoft Windows Setup (x64)" and wait for it to finish loading.
Step 6. Click “Drivers" then drag and drop the "Boot.wim Drivers" folder into NTLite.
Step 7. Click "Apply" then select "Don't backup log and preset". Leave all other options as is and click "Process".
NTLite will ask if you want to disable Windows Defender to increase performance. This is completely optional but recommended.
Step 8. Click "Source".
Step 9. Double click your version of Windows, "Windows 10 Home x64 Core" or "Windows 10 Pro x64 Professional" and wait for it to load.
Step 10. Once loaded right click your version Windows and select "Explore mount directory".
Step 11. Copy and paste the included files from inside the "Mount Directory Files" folder into the base of the Explorer window that opened. After confirming the file copy prompts you can now close this window.
Step 12. Click on “Drivers” then drag and drop the "Install.wim Drivers" folder into NTLite.
Step 13. Click on "Registry" then drag and drop "RegistryEntries.reg” into NTLite.
Step 14. Click "Post-Setup"
Step 15. Now open the "Post-Setup Files" folder and drag and drop each of the 4 files into NTLite. Each file is numbered and should be added in order.
Step 16. Click "Apply" and use the following settings.
Under “Saving mode” select "Save the image and trim editions".
Under "Image format" make sure "Standard, editable (WIM)" is selected.
Select "Don't backup log and preset".
Select "Create ISO".
NTLite will ask you to name your ISO file. Save the ISO on your desktop as Win10Yoga.
NTLite will now ask for a disc label. Set this as Windows 10.
Step 17. Click "Process" and wait for your custom Windows 10 installation ISO to be completed!
You can now close NTLite.
Preparing the USB drive:
Now we will use Rufus to write the setup files on to your flash drive. The ISO file can also be burnt to a DVD if so desired.
Step 1. Launch Rufus and insert an 8GB or larger USB flash drive.
Step 2. Make sure the correct drive is selected under “Device”.
Step 3. Set "Partition scheme and target system type" to "GPT partition scheme for UEFI".
Step 4. Set "File system" to "Large FAT32 (Default)".
Step 5. Set "Cluster size" to "32 kilobytes (Default)".
Step 6. "New volume label" should set itself to "Win10Yoga" after step 8.
Step 7. Check "Create a bootable disk using ISO Image"
Step 8. Click the small button to the right of the "ISO Image" dropdown and browse to the Win10Yoga.iso located on your desktop.
Step 9. After verifying your settings below click "Start".

Congratulations, your custom Windows 10 installation media is complete!
Starting Windows installation:
Make sure that your Yoga Book has completely shutdown. To begin press and hold the volume up key followed by the power button. Continue holding both until the pen light begins flashing. You can now let go of the power button. When the screen lights up you can release the volume button. If everything was done correctly your drive should now show under the "Boot Menu". Select the drive you've created to begin installing Windows 10.
Prebuilt ISO
I have included a pre-compiled ISO based on Windows 10 1803 for those unable to do so. Windows 10 Home and Professional are included in this ISO file. Download, flash, install, and enjoy. The stripped builds are no longer included. This ISO will be removed at Microsoft's or XDA's request!
Download Now (3.13GB) Updated 4/30/2018
Tips & Tricks:
To enable touchscreen support in the BIOS it must be updated to the latest version.
Windows 10 will activate automatically as long as you have installed the correct edition.
Due to a limitation on which drivers can be injected into the boot.wim file Windows setup will display in portrait mode until the "Getting devices ready..." stage. Setup will automatically switch to landscape mode when possible.
During Windows setup, right before the first reboot you will see a 10 second countdown. Wait until the last three seconds or so and unplug your flash drive, Windows setup no longer requires it.
After testing your USB drive feel free to uninstall WinRAR and NTLite. All other downloads and extracted files can also be deleted. Keeping an archival copy of the completed ISO is strongly recommended.
Thank you so much for sharing. I have one question. After followed your guide I found out there is no Dolby. Do you know how to install Dolby on yoga book?

The new version with Dolby included has been uploaded! The written tutorial has been updated as well. Setup now includes all of the updates posted on Lenovo's driver page as well. Every thing except for Lenovo Paper. It has been left out because of the UAC prompt on start up.

Hi sandman, I'm writing using my yoga book, I full restored using the recovery option in the boot menu. But I don't have the drivers yet, I tried using Lenovo system update but it simply doesn't work. then, I tried downloading the drivers one by one, but they don't have any installer or something, only the driver for halo keyboard has it.
How can I install the drivers that I just download from Lenovo's site? or, is there a way a can use the yoga files you have in the tutorial?
Ill be waiting for your response, happy holidays.
P.S: excuse my English.
Download the Yoga Setup Files from the link in my first post. Extract it using Winrar. The Install.wim folder has the majority of the drivers. The MSI has the rest. I would probably install those first. If you need more help let me know.
Happy Holidays to you too

Thanks for your response , I already have those files you mentioned, but i don't know how to install them, all I have in the folders are .dll .sys and .pnf files. I tried by looking for drivers in the device manager but it shows me that that the drivers are up-to-date.
I'll appreciate your help.

No problem at all. First start off by installing all the drivers in the MSI folder. Once that is done right click the start button and select device manager. Anything that does not have a driver installed should have a little yellow triangle next to it. Take you pick as there will likely be several and right click one. Select "Update driver" on the menu that pops up. A window with two options should open. Click the bottom one that says "Browse my computer for driver software". Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the install.wim folder. Once you've set the folder make sure "Include subfolders" is checked and click the "Next" button. Windows should automatically find and install the correct driver. You will need to do this for each missing driver.

Awesome your battle is almost complete! Inside the setup files folder you should see a file named "RegistryEntries". Click that file and it will ask if you want to merge the data, click Yes. You should also see a folder named System32. Copy it, folder and all in to your C:\Windows folder approving any prompts that open. Reboot and you should be golden.

While you can do this unless you know what specific driver you are installing you may end up wasting a lot of time installing drivers that may already be installed. Most drivers are installed during Windows setup. There are only a small handful of trouble makers. Some drivers have 2 or more INF files in their directory. Getting haptic feedback working this way won't work without additional files. If you want to install drivers by hand the device manager is a safer bet IMHO. I'm sticking with my custom setup disk either way Don't have to deal with any of this stuff that way!
If you follow this guide you will never have to struggle to get haptic feedback working. Touchpad gestures work without finding the right drivers and installing them in the right order. You won't have issues with your Yoga Book suspending when you lower the screen. You don't have to download and install several patches off of Lenovo's website. You simply install Windows, then your programs, then your done. No fiddling, no fussing, and no cussing It solves many of the common issues you see about this laptop. It's as close to a restore image you will get for the Yoga Book. The only thing missing is the Lenovo Paper app. If you have the MSI file for Lenovo Paper it too can be added in the post setup part of the process (bottom of the list). The one time setup of this guide saves a lot of time and hassle down the road.

I really appreciate the compliment I am the same way, I always wipe new machines when I get them. When I wiped my book Lenovo did have the first round of drivers up but they really dropped the ball with this awesome lil machine! I downloaded everything that was posted and fought with it for a quite a bit to get everything just right. Then the last time I installed I seen things were still far from perfect and I was tired of having to hook up a hub and other hardware. One struggle right after another. I started toying with the idea of doing what I've done here and the rest as they say is history. The hardware, for its size is on point but the supporting software just isn't nearly as refined as the machine that runs it. A system this unique should have came with a factory restore download or even included it on a cheap 8 gig micro sd card! That extra $3 would have went a long way into making happy customers!
Merry Christmas to you and all of our XDA family as well!

You use it as a cellphone? lol just kidding...
Unfortunately not in all apps. Google for example did not implement it in Chrome even embedding it would be very easy for them. There are a lot of developers slowly embedding it in their apps. It's not just a YB issue, same on Surface and alternatives... try to type something in Notepad and you will see it's even showing up there...
