Hi everyone,
My Nexus 6P got a bootloop issue a week ago. I cannot also access its recovery mode as it returns to a Google logo after doing it. My device had just passed the warranty period for 2 months before it was bricked. Sadly, I decided to buy my 6P because it is branded by Nexus, i.e., Google.
I initially thought that the bootloop issue was from the software update to Nougat since the issue started immediately after the update of 7.1.2. I tried to fix it by re-flashing a variant of stock roms from 6.0.0 to 7.1.2, but no luck occurred.
However, I want to share my experience that I accidentally managed to boot my device while it was being charged and lied on the bed (causing the heat from charging, accumulating to one point that enables the device to be booted). I think the problem may be from some hardware defects of socket bonding on a motherboard. After I figured out, I tried to use a hairdryer to blow the heating air to the top area of the device where a motherboard is located (in front of and behind camera) without disassembling the device. After the device attempted to boot for 5-10 times, it could be booted "temporarily". However, if I let the phone cool down, the device just stopped working (frozen screen while trying to type for search in chrome) and rebooted to bootloop again. I repeated this procedure 3 times and it surprisingly worked. I suggest this procedure, in case someone wants to take out some data from your phone but this won't permanently fix the bonding problem.
I think Google and Huawei both should be responsible for this defect, since the 6p was sold under their both brands. It is very weird that most of bootlooping 6p devices have had such problems just before and immediately after the warranty expires. Especially, for Huawei I wouldn't have bought its product if it hadn't been google branded. It seems deeply skeptical that Huawei might intended to lower the cost of production that may cause the defect or to intentionally let the phone die after the warranty period.
Anyway, are there any updates from class action lawsuit for hardware defects on Nexus 6P ?
Thanks for sharing, good to know how to save the data. It sounds a little bit like a broken solder joint. If this happens to a hardware tech experienced user he should take a look.

I guess that Huawei used a cheap thermal compound to dissipate heat (expire earlier) and probably a cheap lead free solder (not endure to as much high temp, esp. that from Snapdragon 810, as a leaded one) . Thus, heat + inefficient cooling compound + lead free solder = microscopic cracks of the solder under the processor.

Right, that's interesting, if you're out of warranty and got nothing to loose, you can extend the mobo and give it a careful shot with a heatgun at the right places.
That's sad. I escaped from my bootlooping 5X to a battery broken used 6P. After putting a Cameron Sino battery on it. It feels and works like new.
But I fear that bootloop issue could attack me here as well. I still buy 5Xs, because for the price you don't have that camera.
Anyway...weeks back I've read in some Google forum about the rumour that the motherboard (in the 5X) heats a lot while applying an OTA. Like if there were no thermal throttling in recovery or boot mode.
I believe in this theory since most of the 5X died recently after applying the patch from Android 6 to Android 7
Maybe this happens in some 6P as well...
I'm applying OTAs inside the fridge just in case. So the phone keeps reasonably cool while updating.

Never heard that before, in the fridge, definitely a cool thing :good:
My Nexus 6p (64gb) got the same bootloop issue as well. I was just listening to music and phone just suddenly restarted, after that never goes beyond google logo again. I was able boot into recovery to recover my data but flashing 2-3 roms and using twrp backup gave no result. Sad thing is i ran out of warranty just 1 month back. Now huawei wants to charge 25k (388$) to change my motherboard (1 can get a NEW 6P with 32gb for 350$). Never buying a huawei phone again. Will try your method to see if my phone boots up or not.
Chinese managed to fix it by replacing the CPU.
Got the same bootloop after june security patch ota now its doesn't boot up. Have tried so many factory images but no luck.please confirm Its hardware issue or software issue? Can't imagine hardware issue comes after ota update

Interesting. I know a lot of MacBooks fail during updates due to lack of thermal throttling, but i never thought about it being an issue with a smart phone. I understand wanting recovery environment to use as little space/memory, but it almost feels like it's intentions to decrease life span of a device, and ultimately job security/profit margin for manufacturer..

Well all Intel macbook have Intel thermal throttle at least.
As all these Nexus have thermal throttle as well.
But it seems that in these phones something is heating more than usual when a full OTA update is being applied for a few minutes.
I don't know about anybody (5X users ) who got this issue without updating android some day in the previous month.

Nexus 6P - bootloop
I have the same problem with my Nexus 6P, I had android 8.1 for a few days and the suddenly the phone turned off and stuck in bootloop. Heating up the phone works, like you mentioned, so I think it's a hardware issue but I still can't believe a Google flagship phone works only for 20 month and dies afterwards, and neither Google or Huawei cares. It's a shame for both of them!

I bought two Nexus 10 when they were first released and I've scrapped one because the battery failed and a huge screen area went yellow and I was getting multiple annoying random reboots every day.
Now my second Nexus 10 is going the same way.
What a load of crap this tablet is, I'm not surprised Google is not updating it for no-one would buy it.
That's interesting....I have a few mates who have the Nexus 10 and none of them have had those problems. They have had theirs since they were released...Maybe you dropped them once?
You just might be an isolated incident. Another mate if mine has the N7 but the only issue is the charger port issue that many other people have.
I have a N4 and the only issue I have is that the camera stops working at times and to fix that I just restart the phone.

No misuse at all and another annoying bug is the way it deletes part of the pin number after a reboot so you have to re-do the pin number.

I am sorry to hear you are having troubles with both N10s. I would surely have the same frustrations were I you.
We have two N10s, his and hers, for about a year and half. They are used for several hours every day, because we are retired and have lots of time to be online or reading books. My wife's N10 runs Purity ROM and is rock solid for her word games and eBay, facebook, shopping, email and all the other stuff. Mine is rock solid for banking, bill pay, surfing and videos. It usually runs CM11, but could be temporarily running something else while playing around with ROMs. We charge our tablets every day, and try never to get below 50% before plugging in.
I do plan to buy at least one N9 when released, not out of need, but, instead, out of curiosity for an Android 3x4 screen format. Fun times ahead for us Nexus fans.
everybody screaming at me that i m trolling when i was saying about problems with this device few months ago
yellow screen
too many lemon batterys
hdmi problems
buzzing speakers
reboots
no original accesories
you name it ...
I m still in waranty ... i m lazy to go in service with it but after i will repair it ( i hope ) or change it i will sell it and buy a sony . I m not buying a google device again .
nexus fun boys ... what can I say

Don't forget nexus 10 is a two years old tablet but it was a gem in its own time. After 2 years we still don't have any tablets with a higher screen resolution than nexus 10. Which makes it perfect for media consumption. I think only galaxy tab s has a better screen nowadays.
It has had its own shortcommings but most of them are by rectified by software updates, like memory leaks or random reboots.
I have purity ROM on my nexus 10 and I have zero reboots or problems. Everything works like a charm after 2 years of heavy usage. The only thing that I envy now is a super amoled screen on my tablet.

I agree, the Nexus Tablet line was literally one of the biggest POS. I owned a Nexus 7 tablet for about six months and never dropped it or anything. The problem started out with ghosting/ghost input touches then later on progressed to half the touch screen not working at all... Although I initially loved it literally became one the biggest let downs ever...
On top of this, I had also read many articles on XDA and elsewhere of people with the same problem trying to send their tablet's in to ASUS for the warranty and they basically just sent the tablets back to them as is with a software upgrade, which didn't help at all since it was a hardware problem.

Mine had worked flawlessly since the week it was released.
I got mine when they released the tablet and I've never had one problem with it.
I got mine first month of release and it was great for about a year. It's still good now but my siblings abused it so now the battery drains quick (used to last all day and some of the next now I'm lucky if it reaches the end of the day) and speakers are chipping paint.
Other than that there no issues though and those are pretty much our fault. The battery problem could be from not using official charger or just charging all night

I bought my shortly after release and have not experienced any problems with it. I have almost exclusively been using the Franco kernel with AOKP. I use it every day in place of my laptop. I can watch movies, youtube, internet, social media, etc. all day on a single charge.
I bought mine around feb/mar 2013.
It's a piece of crap.
Yellow/brownish tint on the screen that is getting bigger as we speak, battery shutdown at 30% (workarounds exist!), overheating, slow response, slow R/W speeds, etc. I have to do a factory reset pretty much every month.
On top of that: Gergle being a b*tch about it because they've deactivated my account (inactivity). Really funny guys.
I don't know what to do.
I guess I'll throw it away, as soon as I have something new. I'll never buy anything touched by Samsung again. No phone, tablet, TV, you name it. The only thing they're good as is NAND.

The problem is: I force the system NOT to shutdown. The battery stays at 0%, but the device keeps running.
This is dangerous. When the CPU ramps up and the voltage is too low it'll cause instability, which you can see by the backlight flickering, the speakers making weird noises, all that bad stuff.
I am not sure how this affects the battery (or the device) physically, since Li-Ion is not very happy when it's "too" discharged. But it'll wear out the battery even faster, I fear. (This is unfunded. I have not enough knowledge about electronics that advanced. But I've read it somewhere. :silly
But, that out of the way: There's an xposed module. I DO NOT recommend using it. It's called DisableCriticalBatteryShutdown, by the user zst123.
You WILL run into fc's of the systemui when plugging the device back in. But the process should restart by itself.
There's a thread on XDA. AGAIN, I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS MODULE.
I got my Nexus 10 shortly after they were released, and though I love it because it's screen is gorgeous and it has front-facing speakers, it is really buggy, and has been since day one.
It freezes and restarts on me probably daily, and always has since it was brand new. In the early days it always happened while using Chrome, and at the time I remember reading that it was a Chrome-specific issue, so I just switched to Firefox in hopes of a better experience.
It was better, for the most part, but eventually it started freezing at other times as well. I still like the tablet, but it definitely has never been a great performer.
I got my Nexus 10 at release, after 1.5 months of Google not shipping it, losing it, telling me that it was coming, etc... Worst customer experience I ever had. I was on the phone with them daily.
When I finally got it it worked fine for a little while but as I put more and more on it and actually tried to use it to stream video, I would get random reboots, freezing, etc...
I've tried relentlessly to talk my wife into letting me unlock it and put a custom ROM on it hoping it would fix things but she would never let me. Now that it's almost two years old, and I barely use it do to all the reboots, etc..., she might finally let me unlock it.
I was really looking forward to getting this tablet when they announced it but with all the problems, for me it pretty much became a $500 paperweight. I use my GS4 so much more than I every used this tablet, even when I'm home.

I have 2 Nex10's. Both bought at launch. One is stable as a rock (thank god it's the wife's or else) but mine is a bit of a dud. Instabilities and crashes since day one.
Not a day goes by that I don't have to do the 3 finger salute to restart because it has frozen solid.
Tried factory resetting, flashed factory images whenever a new one was around and tried different kernels. No change whatsoever.
I believe Samsung's soc is the culprit here, which was also the issue with the chrome chrashes in the early days (GPU drivers that fixed the issue where delayed by Samsung, which was silly as it's a stock Mali GPU).
Never mind the USB connectivity issues that only Samsung devices do. I had no problem connecting any of my other tablets and phones (Nexus 7, 4, 5, Xperia Z, various HTCs, even Nokia Lumias) to my PC. The Nex10? No dice. I had to manually remove any and all USB drivers, do 3 rain dances and pray to the lord of shadows before I got it to work.
My one year old V10 has developed issues with the charging port. Won't fast-charge, won't connect to PC, but will slow charge. I've ruled out cables, charging bricks, and the battery itself as the issue as they were all fine the day before. I can deal with the loss of fast-charging on the phone by charging my spare OEM LG batteries in my LG charging cradle. The big problem that it has also started having the problem of rapid battery discharging. About 3-4 times faster than the day before the issue started. Was getting nearly a full day of use from fully charged battery, now just 4-5 hours. Checked battery usage stats and found nothing new or unusual. Has to be hardware related. Really don't want to toss out and replace the phone yet. Is there anything I can try to fix issue?

Well, with the info from your other post it sounds like a hardware issue. The V10 has a 1 year warranty. How precise are you when you say one year?
Heck, we don't condone fraud, but if if it's something they can deby and say that it's the battery, brick your phone and request a replacement. Just make sure you're still under warranty.

Unfortunately, about a month out of warranty. That's why I'm looking for a DIY solution. Very disappointing that I should have this issue on an expensive flagship phone from a major manufacturer.

Even more so disappointing since there is so much to like about this phone. I came to the V10 from a Galaxy S5 which was just the absolute champion of rugged durability and awesome hardware specs of it's day. Until now the V10 has impressed in every way I need as a stalwart daily driver, from the best camera in the business to the fantastic screen, killer audio, and one of the last flagships to sport a removable battery.
The hardware business has always been brutal for these manufacturers to turn a profit, but I think maybe what we are seeing now is a lot of cost-cutting, corner-cutting moves by the OEMs to save a few pennies at the expense of durability. I mean, I have 10 year old flip phones in a box in the garage that still power on and work for god sakes!!!

I know the feeling. I have had two nexus phones, both had such a disgustingly poor camers, and with the lack of ability to add an sd card, I switched to something that would be rugged, and have some great features. My first phone was the LG G2x. Another ground-breaking flagship. It was the first dual-core phone. Unfortunately the engineering was such that the developers couldn't get a fully functioning LP ROM. To make weird engineering worse, they had partnered with Nvidia to make it and uses a closed-source software component. They never released the source, of course, and there was a lot of finger pointing at that being most of the issue.
Tmobile replaced mine after my 1yr because of my FPS wasnt working. I just flashed a stock .kdz and locked my bootloader before hand.
My Galaxy Tab S7+ has an overheating problem. Sent it in for service. Got it back in exactly the same condition I sent it (aside from all the sticky residue they left on the back of it). The display near the docking pins gets hot as soon as I launch an app. Not warm. Hot. I've only had it for a month so it's under warranty but I don't want to send it back again. I trust Samsung as far as I can throw them. I'm hoping to find a way to cool it down some. Suggestions?
Get on the phone with customer service and demand action.
While this is only anecdotal evidence, my stock Tab S7 Plus never gets hot. It never even gets warm.
This is the first Android device I haven't rooted immediately in years. I'm not sure if that matters. But I've found different custom kernels and different ROMs can cause different heat issues.
I've had all of the Google tablets made and they've all had heat problems to some degree. I had one Nexus 9 tablet that would heat up to the point of kernel panic and reboot. I sent that back to Google with logs and received a new one that never got *too hot.
As you likely know, all CPUs in the same batch have different acceptable variances and tolerances and some just get hot and others don't. If your tablet gets too hot and causes problems and or might have a shortened lifespan because of the heat, you deserve a new one from any company.
My Tab S7 plus just never gets hot or even warm. I've got a lucky one I guess. For once.
Hi, I have a problem with a Honor 10.
Since August it started to restart randomly, I just replaced the battery and I just did two factory reset but the problem continues to manifest even in the configuration screen.
I would exclude the faulty power button, since before rebooting it usually froze on the activity I was performing.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
Test power button with ohm meter.
It was doing this after the reset with just it's factory load? No 3rd party apps loaded?
Try reflashing firmware.
Maybe be a mobo failure.

I really don't think is the power button because it reboot even in idle on the table, and i saw that if i put it on charge it reboot instantly.
I have this problem even in the configuration screens after the factory reset, indeed i've must configured two or three times because of that.
I'll try to reflash the firmware, then i'll wait for a new battery i ordered a month ago.
If it will be still broken i guess is a mobo failure.
I have a question: i didn't flashed a smartphone before, and i was asking myself if this reboot problem can mess up with flashing, bricking the phone. Can it be possible?

Yeah if it interrupts the flash that won't end well...
If you can return it, do so... otherwise...
Before you go flashing nuts try to determine if it's a hardware issue. Check ribbon cable connectors... and that switch.
Firmware shouldn't become corrupted unless there's a flash memory failure or it was a bad flash to begin with.
Does it not do this is safe mode? 3rd party app if so.
If it does it when in the boot menu it's likely hardware.
If so it may be just a failed battery. Try with charger connected to see if this alters the behavior.
If you don't feel comfortable repairing it, let a good tech do it for you. I always remember my first mechanical alarm clock disassembly... it didn't go well

It reboots even in safe mode!
It would seem a hardware problem, possible that I bought a new battery already damaged?
It’s been a few hours since it works good after charging it to 100%, it seems that it starts to reboot towards 50%.
I wanted to flash it also because before doing the factory reset, it automatically installed some "stock" apps by itself, I refer to some games that Honor automatically installs at each factory reset, every time I uninstalled them, after some restart they reinstalled themselves.
It was a weird issue but looks like fixed with the factory reset, so now i only have the reboot issue.
I am so desperate that I would like to try the battery of my Honor 10 (the one with problems is that of my girlfriend), I would not buy another battery since I have to be delivered the one I ordered from a month.
It may be the battery, they can fail at any time.
It's rare for new ones to fail but it happens.
Use a firewall to block auto updates or installs.
Karma Firewall works well but its valuable logging feature doesn't work on Android 10 and higher, but it still will block apps.
Update: I just bought another battery and the problem persist.
Now im sure is not the battery so i will flash it very soon no matter what.
I have been having the same problem as you guys have since last Christmas (2020), when my phone was 18 months old.
I switched phone and gave the Honor 10 to my wife for Coin Master and the problem persisted.
However, two months ago the battery started to swell and surprisingly the problem went away completely for about a month. But as it swelled to the extent of pushing out the screen the problem returned a month ago.
Thinking it was possibly a battery/battery connection related issue, I changed to a new Pisen battery last night. Sadly, the rebooting continued but only for 2-3 times today.
So it is probably an issue with the board itself.

The battery failure may have damaged the mobo or perhaps it was preexisting.
Check ribbon connector pins for damage. Look around for visible solder cracks. Try pressing gently on the mobo with a pencil eraser with device powered on to try to find the area. Check ribbon cables too by gently moving them.
One of the most likely places for a failed solder joint are the BGA chipsets. The many solder pads are under the chipset, inaccessible.
Press gently on them to try and verify this. A hot air station (and skillset to use it) is the only way to repair this type of failure.
Any battery swelling is a failure, replace it asap.

As I said, battery has been replaced with a brand new one. Therefore the swelling issue is fixed.
Don't have the skill set to use a hot air gun or to solder so this is it for me.
Quite disappointed by the QC of Huawei as this was my first Huawei phone. I have been using Xiaomi since my first smartphone and never had an issue like this before.

My point was a mobo failure is generally a game over event.
I run strictly Samsung's as I like their UI and have become familiar with them. Of course in 2-3 years that could change if Samsung keeps dropping the ball.

I understand.
That said, Huawei did replace the MBs for out of warranty customers in mainland China as a good will gesture.
Too bad that policy did not extend outside of China.

Maybe see if they'll discount a mobo for you.
Not free but it might sweeten the deal.
Or write it off and move on.
All my Samsung's have been long lived with replacement batteries being the only repairs.
Another reason I like them.
In my case it was sort of dumb luck especially when choosing the first Note 10+. In this case they did live up to their hype.
The S4+ lasted over 5 years and still boots up.
I had the random reboots going on for weeks even at night, also bootloops sometimes .
I tried a lot of stuff but i got my phone going again for 2 weeks now without any reboots.
It might be just pure luck but this is what i did last time:
Did a complete reset of the Phone ( everything gone )
I changed simcard to other simslot (i think this made the difference, atleast for my phone)
No apps from Meta (You dont want any of their **** anyway )
ill keep you posted

Hey guys, it seems that I solved the problem by bringing the phone to a Huawei service center, they performed an "operation on the motherboard".
Actually they changed the battery with an "original" one for 60€ (the one I had replaced cost 10€ ), then when the problem obviously came back they did the repair on the mobo at no extra cost.
I guess it went well.

Did you had any reboots after the motherboard change?
I got the same issue with my Honor 10. Tried every trick that I could think of, but nothing seems to help.
What I noticed, that sometimes when it restarts it does get very hot in the area near the camera. (not sure exactly what component it's there but it's something on the motherboard)
I'm thinking if it worth doing this motherboard change. (as it seems to be a design/component issue if there are so many that have this problem)

No, no reboot at all, but I noticed later that they rolled back to Android 8.0, so I’m thinking that they didn’t fix the motherboard, but they actually found a workaround by downgrading the OS.
I’m afraid to try to upgrade to Android 10.0 for this reason, I don’t even know if I can do it considering the new Huawei policy of flashing and stuff, but my girlfriend is ok with that so I let it go.
I can confirm that even now, on each task (TikTok scrolling for example), it gets very very hot in that point near the camera, my perfectly still working Honor 10 instead does it only on intensive use of the camera.
I hope this information can help you with your Honor 10, I suggest you go back to an older version of Android if possible just for troubleshooting.
If it persists, the motherboard is probably faulty and you need to replace it, I guess...

Thanks for the reply and downgrade suggestion! (worth a try)
I've been using the RN10 since early 2021 and I had a great experience with it so far (excluding the xiaomi unlocking procedure and MIUI). I used LineageOS from the beginning and the ROMs have evolved and were getting better each time (Thanks to all the LOS ROM maintainers of the past couple of years!)
However, lately my phone suddenly wasn't able to charge anymore. And it wasn't even able to make a data-connection with a PC.
The USB-Port seemed to be defective. But sometimes it still worked, miraculously.
It turns out to be rather a board/IC problem, with a loose connection.
it sounds funny but it is true and working (at least for now): I have to put a weight on my display (I use a 5kg dumbbell), then I'm able to charge my phone or make a data-connection, so the usb-port then works.
The battery capacity is still perfectly fine. My battery stats are 3days and 20 hours between charge cycles after 1,5 years! Therefor I don't suspect the battery as the problem.
If I had to guess as mentioned before, it's obviously a board/IC problem with a loose connection.
And how could this happen? Maybe it is the problem of sometimes having a 6.5" phone in a pants pocket that barely fits a 5" phone. When you move or kneel with the phone in the pocket, it might always get a bit bend due to the tension of pants.. and ICs obviously don't like tension so much..
well, that's at least my speculation...
Does anybody else have a similar experience with their phones?
What else could it be?
Could there be a simple fix beside warranty/repair service?
Anyway, I think I'll get myself a new phone now. And I would buy another RN10 right way, BUT the RN10 seems not to be sold anymore (prices are like 400-700 now). So I'll have to find a newer phone very similar to the RN10.
Can anybody recommend me a phone similar to the RN10 (features+price) with options for root and LineageOS?
Mobile devices tend to get a lot of abuse, especially the USB connectors. Every time you plug and unplug your device, every time it falls off your nightstand and hangs by the cord, etc - stress is put on the components, and it's generally just a matter of time before something breaks. Unfortunately the only way to fix it would be to have a professional shop replace the board the connector is on, because it's next to impossible to rework tiny components like that by hand. I would know, I'm IPC-610-A certified.
The only other thing I could suggest is use a small thin pick of some kind, like a plastic dental pick, and gently clean all the lint and dirt out of the USB port. Over time it can accumulate and prevent the USB cable from fully seating.

I started "tinkering" on Symbian systems then on Sony xperia J to finish on poco and Xiaomi.
These old phones still work, finally start and are of course obsolete and no longer work because of the format of the sim which no longer exists but it starts which means that the battery is still functional.
My phones have never been bricked or hs (redmi note 7 flashed at least 50 times) and yet some like you report malfunctions after 2/3 years, it can come as you say from deformations in the pocket or others but please take into consideration that some may have defects right out of the factory, robot poorly adjusted or manufactured on a Friday evening in overtime.
Go to this site and if a phone is within your means and meets your expectations in terms of performance, return to XDA to see if there are roms or possible modifications.
You will have more possibilities with a phone that exists in Cn and Global version, sometimes the name is different, example: Poco F2 pro and K30 Pro same phone with fewer bands for the CN version and more
development because there is Weekly Rom.
Now before changing phones, I look in priority if it will be or is customizable.

Indeed, but the usb c port has improved this problem compared to 2 (me too I had to change a few ports) and let's not talk about the dedicated ports where great attention was required.

Exactly. Or the phone gets pulled by the cable while charging. The 3.5mm jack on Samsung's in comparison is very robust. That should've been the charging port

yes I know.. since the new phones are all glued together I stopped tinkering around with the boards and batteries.. I might make an exception if I see a solution, but it's generally not worth the risk and time.
cleaning the usb-port with a toothpick, tissue and isopropanol was the first thing I tried.. I got some dirt out of there, but it turned out to be not the problem. it's not even a problem of the port directly, maybe not even the charge board directly.. but the main board somewhere differently located than the charging board section. because I had to squeeze the phone more on the upper side of the phone, while the charging board is at the bottom.

I think the real reason will never be found out.. could be a manufacturing error.. but it worked for 1,5 years anyway. I think the board and ICs are just too sensitive when it comes to little bendings... drops and shakes not so much. but these slow, tiny but enduring bendings might be more of a problem for the hardware.
yeah I'm definitely looking for a phone with a healthy modders community. I couldn't buy a redmi note 12 when there is still no alternative aosp rom for it. Maybe I have more luck with the note 11 (pro) variants.. or I'll skip right away to another vendor.

thought like that too, but as mentioned above, I doubt it's the charge-port-board.. the error seems to be at the other end/top of the phone.. which looks like it could be the main board itself. But it's all assuming.. it could also just be charge port board.
I'll first see if I can get warranty support, but as far as I've heard it's rather a get-money-back and buy a new phone thing.

If you bought this phone in Europe, you get a 24 month warranty.
Redmi note 12 is sold for the moment in China or India.

yeah it seems I can make use of the 24m warranty. I would get a replacement phone, but there is no replacement option as the RN10 is not available anymore. So I'm forced to look for another phone model.
Been comparing many redmi's now, but it seems RN10 would still be the best option for me. unfortunately it isn't available here anymore.
redmi note 11 seems to be a downgrade from redmi note 10. RN11s have a weaker camera, lower score snapdragon (even though it's more efficient) and no super amoled screen (only "amoled", don't know if it matters). and the rom community is also smaller.
redmi note 12 isn't available in europe and I don't know when it gets released (for a price drop of others). RN12 wouldn't be an option as long as there are no custom roms.
redmi note 11 pro+ 5G seems to be pretty good and it also got good rom support /w unofficial lineageos, but more than double the price of the note 10 is not what I was looking for.
maybe redmi note 10 pro would be an option, still looking for a lineagerom for it..
or maybe I can just use any redmi note phone and try to put a GSI LineageOS on it?

If the phone is under warranty, it will be repaired.
The redmi note 11 pro+ already 1 year old.
GSI roms can be installed on almost all models, but personally, I would avoid them.

it's been amazon via 3rd party reseller. the reseller is not available anymore. amazon is refunding the phone in this special case, I had a talk with them. so I have to find and buy a new/different phone.
budget around 200€, bands for germany, I do not care much about 5G here. ideally I want a redmi note 10 clone for about 160€. the closest to that is the redmi note 11, but hardware and mod support is worse.. if I look at 200 I can get a redmi note 10 pro... even older than RN11 but better hardware than my current phone.. but it might have better mod support.
the redmi note 11 pro 5g is available for about 270.. (100 too much already).
the redmi note 11 pro+ is even more expensive for about 350..
I'd like 4/6GB ram and 128GB memory and most important is still (super) amoled display.. the options are really small if you consider lineage support and this price range.. another vendor than xiaomi that offers something like this doesn't even exist..
