Today I've flashed the recovery with TWRP to install SuperSU.
Is there any possibility of installing the stock recovery to be able to install Android updates normally again without losing all data and SuperSU?
You sir, are not alone with this question. Been eagerly looking for an answer for the same question..

I can't find anything for the G5, only for other phones.
The only option I currently know of is to flash the whole KDZ and then install TWRP and SuperSU again. Is there another way?
As long as the system is modified in any way, the only way to install ota updated is through LGUP because before applying the update there is a system integrity check ran and if that fails you will most likely get into bootlops or worst
Here is what I did to get a 10D rooted system
Thank you @gwolfu.
Is there any way to root the phone without flashing Twrp and without losing the fingerprint sensor on stock rom

As no one has answered. It is possible to temporarily boot TWRP and not flash it. While in fastboot mode.
Code:
fastboot boot <nameofTWRP.img>
Don't know where you got the idea that you would lose the fingerprint sensor by rooting or installing TWRP.

No, there is not. There is no way that just flashing twrp can affect your fingerprint reader. Last rime you did it you must have flashed something else in addition to twrp.

I had the same question as I rooted other phones I've owned this way. Well I tried it myself and it doesn't work. It says it's not allowed. You can try the method of replacing recovery.img from fastboot ROM and flash it via EDL. Search the forum, I just rooted this way.

tried searching in internet about root for new update and twrp but nothing for now
i think we will wait weeks or months to see new updates for root and twrp
if i found anything new, i will post here and mention you :good:
Guys
Download Miui update in zip file and flash via recovery.
It doesn't revert to stock recovery and keeps your twrp along with root intact.

I've successfully rooted my miui 10 by this method
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/how-to/guide-root-using-magisk-stock-recovery-t3718203
And i've installed miui 11 now, somehow.. latest magisk (v20.1) can't root my device with the same method. So i tried to root with magisk v2.0 (same i did in miui 10) and its work

i don't have custom recovery, my device back to stock recovery
i tried downgrade with mi flash and step by step from websites but error, tried flash from recovery but it changed, there are 3 options
- restart
- wipe data
- contact mi assistant
no option install update.zip, also from device and check software update, no option to choose install update
everything changed, stupid update, i don't feel any good change
i think developer will take long time to root new update and use custom recovery
no downgrade work, no one try

Why don't you try installing recovery using fastboot method and then flash magisk 20.1 zip through recovery.
Please check if bootloader is still unlocked before trying this.

from 10 to 8 you can downgrade without any problem, 11 you can't do anything
solved
finally i made it and back again to miui 10
best program for use xiaomitool
flash anything with 2-3 steps

thanks for highlighting issues with Magisk 20.1!
I used 20.0 and everything works
Any one using using gcam on miui 11?
I have a pocophone f1 which I attempted to root.
I already unlocked it using my MI account with MI unlocker on windows.
I installed TWRP 3.2, as well as SupersU.zip in TWRP.
I go and check root access using various root checker apps from playstore but i have no root access. One of them says that my supersu $Path does not contain a binary.
I tried uninstalling superSu using the supersSu uninstaller.zip in TWRP and then attempted flashing magisk, but i got the error about patched boot image. I wiped everything and then flashed stock global ROM for miui 11. Still i get the patched boot image when trying to flash magisk.
Any ideas?

Just uninstall SuperSU root and root again with magisk! There is unroot option in the SuperSU app which you have to use or:

@Silvershot
My POV: Noone needs to install TWRP to root phone's Android.

It's clear that something has gone very wrong. Instead of wasting time with troubleshooting, I recommend that you restore the phone to its original state via re-flashing its Stock ROM and when that's done retry to root its Android the proper way.
FYI: Once TWRP got installed on phone, you can't get rid off of it unless you re-flash phone's Stock ROM.

I could but I don't want to: IMO you simply didn't get it - you do anything without questioning the meaning.
Happy fiddling around with Magisk etc.pp.

You don't have to disable encryption to use magisk. Atleast I think from my experience.
This is the step-by-step tutorial.
1. Flash this global stock miui with TWRP. https://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?device=1700355 (if this is not the official ROM please correct me, there are a lot of fakes there)
2. Flash Magisk with TWRP. Download and flash it from this github repo. DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT FROM ANYWHERE ELSE!

3. Reboot

Check dm-varity and disable force encryption to get safe from weird MIUI bug which automatically encrypt your phone storage after flashing magisk
