Android O for MIDO?? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

As we all know Xiaomi is not very popular for upgrading Android base & Kernels. Stable Android N is available for MIDO which is OK. But my question is will we be stuckd on Android N forever or we can get Stable Android O custom Rom also? As from Google, they said upgrading Android base on non nexus/pixel devices will be more easier than previous.

No, official STABLE android N is not yet available for Mido, so i think, it will take some long time for Android O.

We will get it but it will take long time.

With N kernel, a backport might be possible. MIGHT

Will oneplus x get android n or cm14?
Sorry for too many noobish questions
There's nothing such as CM14 and when android N will be out, we can hope getting OxygenOS 3.0 (M)
Yeah i know it doesnt exist now,but are there any chanses that opx will get cm based on nutella?
did they care enough to push you M when its almost over a year thats its released by google ? i dont think so
Oxygen 3.0 based on Android M is in progress. Look at the oneplus forum
He is asking about developer support, and you guys are shoving OnePlus' incompetency at providing updates at him.
@pexluka To answer your question, Yes, I'm positive we will get the next major android iteration.
I think it isn't clear at the moment if we become official cm14 or Oxygen based on Android N. But some developers will Android N roms, when cm14 is released
Thanks,im hoping so
Sure, there are lot developers for this device.
OPX will certainly get android N

Android Go

Who will bring this low-end OS to our device? First?
I was gonna ask the same question. Android GO is going to be the best way to put Android O on the moto e 2.
Android Go will be more stable and lag free. It'll reduce the need to use RAM heavy OS like the newer CM Builds. I hope they release the source and builds soon so that someone can port it to Condor.
Yes I know that our device is low end it really need this type of ROM but Don't expect this ROM any time soon before Q2 2018, as this project is expected to release by 2018. So be patient and wait for Android O.
After reading into details: GO will be a flavour of O. You can get a similar setup with existing custom ROMs and microG. Only GO feature i haven't seen yet: Restriction of recents to four apps.

how many builds of Android Pie are out for the OPX?

How many builds of pir are there? can't any of them be installed permanently or are they all still alpha that will need reinstalled after official launch? i want to upgrade from the original OPX android to to pie for daily use. i also want magisks if that's not all supper outdated now too.
LOS 16 is really stable IMO and the dev announced it xill be the one supported in top priority.
There is no evidence that there will be "official" custom Rom on pie for OPX.
so the custom pie roms will not get updates from google?

?? I don't understand your question.
Google doesn't do anything about custom roms.
There is just one dev that worked on some custom roms on Pie (Pixel experience, AOSP and LOS). He just tond that he will put the priority on the LOS one. Note that it's marked as LOS 16 unofficial as he builds it itself, not in the LOS offcial roaster.
Onyx won't even be in the 15.1 roaster as it has just been ejected from official 14.1 roaster.

when Debian gets updates so does ubuntu and kubuntu and lubuntu and xubuntu. custom rom or not it IS still google android pie, so when vulnerability is found a update is pushed out for pie and all pie devices get said fix. unless phones don't work this way which would suck and mean it's un secure the custom rom dev gets boared or no longer has time.

You are confused, android builds are device specific, every patch needs to be integrated and compiled by the developer or mantainer of the rom you're using and can't be used in any other phone. Google releasses a new version of android and it's up to developers to create drivers and kernel "stuff" that allows the software to funcion in the device.

AH-HA!!!! This makes sense!

port MIUI 10 (9.0) to Redmi 5 Plus

someone can port that? it could be good see R5+ with Miui 10 Pie ROM.
And why would you need it? Just to have Pie easter egg and 9.0 displayed when you enter "About phone"? MIUI is heavily modified framework, and as long as there is no official 9.0 update from Xiaomi (which imo is not going to happen, looking at the past few months of suspended global beta) there is no need for additional work that would bring new bugs and problems on top of the existing ones. Pie MIUI is basically the same as on Oreo anyway.
But, if you just need to flash your "About phone" tab to friends and others with 9.0, go to build.prop and change some things...
tl,dr: not worth the hassle
For the same reason that a personal create a custom rom aosp pie... To add another possibility and keep the update process alive for the R5+.

That's the point - you need open source code (AOSP - Android Open Source Project). All these ROMs came because Xiaomi released kernel code for Vince, and some nice devs got their hands around it. MIUI is very much not open source. This device might get semi-stable Android Q or whatever comes after Pie, but don't expect anything fancy. In Xiaomi ecosystem, this device has probably EOL tag already. Enjoy what you already have, there is sooo much to choose from.

Can Xperia 10 Plus install Android Q GSI cause of it compatible with Project Treble ?

https://www.xda-developers.com/install-android-q-beta-gsi-project-treble/
Can i use this guide to try Android Q beta on my Xperia 10 Plus ?
Every device that has Treble support is able to boot pure AOSP GSI image.
But its good to wait until someone tries it if you dont know if you would be able to get out of soft brick.
Im getting the phone in few days so i might probably try it. But TBH its pointless since Android 10 is rumored to release today and SONY should release update quite soon.
