Please can someone help me sort out my S6 edge. I was trying to root my phone to change my encryption pin to a 20 digit passcode. I used odin to put twrp-3.1.1-0-zerolte.img onto my phone and now it is stuck on TWRP and won't boot normally. Could someone please tell me how I can remove TWRP or even just make my phone boot as usual. I never made a backup or copies of my photos and I really don't want to lose my data. THANKYOU! for anyone who can help me out I really appreciate it.
####WILL PAY ANYONE WHO CAN GUIDE ME THROUGH FIXING####

UK(europe) Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

zerolte
Android 7.0
Kernel version 3.10.61-10531122
The way I was trying to root the phone was for (I believe) unencrypted devices, therefore I never actually rooted the phone just put TWRP onto it and it didn't work the way it was supposed to so I stopped.
I've never rooted a phone before and therefore don't want to rush into fixing it incase I cause irreparable damage.
I read on these forums that to do what I was doing I would need to use adb sideload because it's encrypted. I have got android sdk, adb but haven't done anything yet. I'm hoping for someone who definitely knows how to fix it before I go ahead and make a mess of it :\
I had Samsung Knox installed on my phone, I've just found out that that has probably caused the problem? Is it at all possible I can fix this and not lose my data?
TWRP says: Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer
I have tried wiping the cache and nothing changes.

OK, calm down. You haven't lost anything or likely to if you just slow down a bit.
OK first things first, what caused the actual boot loop?
Describe the exact steps. It wouldn't have been TWRP itself. Ignore any errors you are seeing regarding /data they are irrelevant at the moment.
Did you install SuperSU and which version? Did TWRP ask to install its own SuperSU version?

I did everything in this video up until 2:55.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8ji0yjf7IY
where his phone rebooted into the system mine just stayed on TWRP. I tried rebooting into system and I just get the samsung logo over and over. all I have done from that point is try wiping the cache.
I just used odin to put TWRP onto it and then stopped when it didn't do what it was supposed to.
And no TWRP didn't install SuperSU as I was planning to install Nougat_Root_SuperSU_No_kernel_included myself.

Then your issue is you haven't installed Supersu. Once you've installed SuperSu V2.79 SR3 then your device should boot.
Your issue is likely dmverity. SuperSU will fix that by patching the boot.img.

Thankyou very much, I will have to do that with adb sideload right? is there a straightforward way I can do this without the risk of messing it up?

I have sideloaded Nougat_Root_SuperSU_No_kernel_included.zip and it booted up asked me for my encryption key and when I entered it I get a message saying:
Verification failed
Unable to restart your device. The integrity verification has failed. You need to reset your device to factory default settings. This will erase all your data.
I am currently trying to sideload SuperSu V2.79 SR3 but it gets stuck on "- Creating image"
I guess I'm screwed at this point?
I also saw somewhere that it says Knox has been tripped, dno if that matters....
Thanks

All you really need to do is flash the stock recovery and boot image as your system partition should be unmodified.
You can flash the whole firmware and it won't affect your data.
If it's a 4 file firmware you should only need to flash the BL and AP parts with ODIN.

One good reason to never run encryption on the device.
If you want to attempt data recovery, download the app disk digger pro. It has a high success rate of recovery. Just ensure you save the recovered files to SD card.
Just to note though this app needs root to work properly. You can use magisk to gain root rather than supersu.

I believe it was the google photo gallery but it hasn't synced anything
wouldn't have been so bad if I could have at least saved the photo's. and I doubt any recovery program will get anything because of it been encrypted but I can give it a go for nothing

I got out of the phone mod life about a year ago..
but one of my friends is going through some financial stress and needs a phone.. i had a Sprint M9 sitting here for about a year.. So i decided i'd try to unlock it so he could use it.
Needless to say i'm a little rusty and a lot of things have changed
I asked Stifilz to help with the unlock and he directed me to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/nv-unlock-sim-t3314755
I needed to get the MSL, so I attempted the root following this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/guide-root-install-twrp-htc-one-m9-t3061133
Everything went smoothly with the instructions.. only problem is that I am now stuck in a bootloop of the HTC boot screen with the red writing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
firmware? boot.img? new rom?
Hi.. phone has been sitting down collecting dust since the last post.. a friend needs a phone so I'm trying to get it working to give it away.. anyone have any solutions for this?
I am willing to pay to get this resolved.

Hi? I'm in same situation. From stock, I didn't follow any particular tutorial. I used my knowledge from HTC m8. I unlocked bootloader, flashed latest twrp for m9, flashed latest supersu zip. And that's it. Boot loop afterwards. I flashed supersu via OTG Drive. Could that be an issue? Phone is still S-ON
UPDATE: I some how wiped cache, dalvich, data and system partition in twrp now it says I have no OS installed. I think I wasn't supposed to wipe system partition? How to get back to phone plz? Could you Point me to a restore file or stock HTC file I can restore with adb or twrp? I didn't make a backup before I started the whole thing.
Grab stock rooted rom from development thread n flash that. Should be good after that

my experience
Hello.
I had a similar problem, when I had installed viper4android, without the debbuging mode on.
Couldn't acess to twrp, only download mode, so I needed to install the firmware with odin, get root acess, reinstall the twrp, and after reinstall my favorite rom. Of corse, all my data was lost in the process, but I can't see other way. Without twrp, how can one flash anything?
Maybe you can try to flash with odin just the bootloader and the modem, to see if it works. If not, just the firmware will solve the problem, I think.
Do what I m saying

Phone: LG Aristo MS210 (Metro PCS)
Bootloader: TWRP 3.0.3.0
So let me explain. I was just figuring out how to root the LG Aristo since I had never done it with a custom ROM. Yes, true story. Anyway, I was happy I got it working perfectly until I rebooted my phone. When I rebooted it, SuperSU was gone. I tried going to the play store and redownloading it, but I got an error code -504, and the thing is, I couldn't download any apps. ANY. I decided to look the error code up and I can't find anything on it. I tried multiple times doing multiple different things. From factory resetting, reflashing SuperSU, to factory resetting and then flashing SuperSU, wiping dalvik-cache along with everything except for system. It didn't work and I thought I could get it working.. Well... this next part I really messed up on. I decided to wipe everything. I selected all options and slid the cursor and it failed. The wipe failed. It said "E: /sdcard1 unable to partition" or something like that. I noticed that when I was wiping earlier the internal storage was also called that, and the funny thing is I have no microSD card in my phone. So. :/
Now when I boot I'm stuck on the LG splash screen and nothing else happens. I tried recovery mode (without ADB) with the power button + vol down key as I read here: (I'd post link but I'm a new member) that's how you get into recovery/factory reset. I'd use ADB to get into recovery, but since I just wiped the system, I don't have USB debugging enabled. I tried anyway and I gotta say this is my worst nightmare as I'm too young to get a job, (15 yrs. old) so I can't get a phone. :/ Oh, and if this can be useful: I know it connects to my PC over USB because I hear the sound it makes when a new device is connected. Is there any way I can use that to unbrick it?
EDIT 9/10/2017 9:31 PM (Eastern Time): I managed to get into twrp. I'm currently looking online for how to flash android 7.0 nougat (OS it originally had)

Hi,
Well the only way to fix this is that u need to be able to boot into recovery.
If u tried booting into recovery by holding the power and vol+/- and u end up booting to the boot logo, then recovery is also wiped.
In this case, u will need to check if u have access to fastboot. If so then obtain the twrp recovery for ur device and flash it then tried booting into recovery using the appropriate keys.
When I get time, I will research ur device for any recovery tool and stuff.

Plugged in my old Captivate the other day to charge, and when I came back to it, was stuck in CWM. And would not boot into OS. I have some pics and videos I would like to pull off of it. I tried flashing to stock with Odin, but no love. Tried various kernels and CWM's and non of them will mount /sdcard. As far as I know it hasn't been wiped, as everything I've done says it can't mount /sdcard. Thought it was on CM11 but the boot logo looked like CM10.
Have been trying this http://howtorecover.me/data-recovery-internal-storage-android-phone-guide, but I am stuck at the "Making an image of Android internal storage". And not even sure this will work because I have to do everything in Recovery.
Can log into ADB and do some stuff while in Semaphore_KK_3.4.2c with "adb device= 3935DD422FE700EC recovery"
managed to get "list_of_partitions.txt" (attached)
Is there anyway to repair mount without wiping or retrieve my files?

It's a Samsung Captivate sgh-i897, will not boot into OS. Everything I've tried flashing was with Odin. tried a couple one-click stock odin installers. But even those would get blocked by mount error when the phone would reboot to install the OS.
Try this

Hi there,
Okay so have you tried using Samsung Keis software it should help you to restore that phone however I'm not sure that you could the recover your old files on that phone but you can try various phone recovering software
Kies won't let me connect through recovery or download. Tried doin factory reset in recovery and that doesn't work either.
Hello,
I am pretty sure that the old Android phone cannot give your data back if you have saved any files after losing old data. New data might have overwritten the previous deleted files and you cannot retrieve them again. But if you have not saved any files after deleting then I must say, you can restore the files using a recovery program (androiddata-recovery.com/android-phone-recovery.php).
Going through this will allow you to get back every data deleted from your old Android phone without any backup. It is easy to use and one of the best reliable software to recover lost files from Android phone.
I really screwed up and need help now...
I bought a cheap Xiaomi Mi A3 a few days ago for a little project, where I needed a rooted phone (I didn't want to use my main phone for this).
So I tried root the phone with magisk and this tutorial.
Mod edit: Unofficial magisk link removed. Please only post official links.
Unlocking bootloader worked perfectely fine, so I proceeded with method 1 (using TWRP). I then got a fastboot error which I think has something to do with me using usb3 and not usb2. Since I dont have any Usb2 connectors, I tried to do it with method 2. Somewhere along the way I did a factory reset. Well I did eventually load into TWRP and was able to load the Zip files into TWRP through a MicroSD card, since MTP and "adb push" didn't worked (I didn't got a error message, the files just wouldn't show up on the phone). I then flashed Magisk v22.0 since the others were all "wrong Zip file format". If I try to boot into system now, I always get the "Encryption unsuccessful" error message. I tried to facotry reset, didn't work.
Edit: I can get into TWRP, but reboot to system will always result in "Encryption unsuccessful"
Do you have any ideas on how to fix this. Since there are no data on this phone I can also just delete everything and reinstall a completely fresh android and start again from the beginning (but since Factory Reset isn't helping I don't know how to do this).
Thanks in Advance!
