This has been driving me crazy.
I did a factory reset on my Moto Z Play (7.0). Whenever I open a web page via Assistant or Google Now or Gmail (as it defaults to Chrome) it just opens a blank page. I can't type onto the back, nor refresh. It just has the X at the top left and the three dots.
I've tried installing Chrome Dev, uninstalled updates on both, cleared cache and all data, and cleared phone cache on a reboot.
Any other ideas to try?
I'd use another browser but I think Assistant/Google Now forces to Chrome.
Never had the issue until I did the factory reset.

Ok I have read that Gmail is not a very stable app, and people often complain it crashes, but there's a limit!
I had it installed by default, then removed it after root, then decided to install it again as I needed to check my mail more often.
Every time, every damn time I do ANYTHING, Gmail crashes. You probably know the usual message "com.google.android.gm stopped unexpectedly", I get it when I boot the phone, when I enable data, when I disable data, when I open the browser, when I close the browser, when I enable google account sync, when I disable it, and of course when I try and open Gmail. The fact is, the process crashes even when I don't use Gmail (I checked and it's not in the 'being used' processes list, but when I open the browser or enable data it crashes from nowhere).
I have already tried wiping cache and data, uninstalling updates (but for some reason it uninstalls the whole app), and uninstalling/reinstalling it several times, but I only managed to make it work ONCE (then after that unique mail sent, crashes again). Is there a way to stop this madness?
I have an Xperia Mini st15i with rooted 2.3.4 and stock stuff, if it can help.
Did you take a backup of the stock Gmail app before you removed it? Did you install that one and then updated or did you install directly from the market?
In addition, have you tried clearing the data of Google Services Framework? I read somewhere that clearing its data can help resolve issues in Google apps.
I don't have a backup of the stock one, I reinstalled directly from market =(. I'll try clearing that data then =)
Don't worry if you don't have the stock Gmail.apk. If clearing the services framework doesn't work, search Google for the stock Gmail.apk of your android version, install it, then convert it to system app and link it to the market using titanium backup and then update it. If you can't find it, contact me. Post how it goes.

Hello.
I'm using stock rom, rooted and installed CWM, the phone works fine for a few days, then it freezes for a while and shows "process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I can 100% reproduce this by opening stock browser and browse for about 30 seconds, then it freezes for 10 more seconds, then shows FC.
Several times the phone rebooted itself, but not exactly all the way, there was no ATT and Samsung logos, everything went black for a minute, then everything started loading like it just booted.
Anyone else having this or similar issues?
I get this also. Only had one reboot. I'm stock. Maybe that's my problem!
I was using Chrome when this one happened.

I was having the same problem on a stock, unrooted phone. I was able to determine that disabling the "Internet" item in the sync settings for my google accounts made the problem go away. Re-enabling it almost immediately causes the FC problem to return. That item seems to be toggling the syncing of bookmarks from my desktop Chrome browser with the phone browser, which I can do without.

Running stock all the way for now. Same issue. I installed Chrome, disabled sync for internet in my Google account as mentioned above, and enabled sync in the Chrome settings. Better browser, better experience, and no more FCs.
Same here - stock but rooted. Fortunately disabling internet sync fixed the FC issues.

I forget where I found the solution but here's what I did to fix the same problem.
1) Go to Settings > Accounts and sync
2) Remove your Google account
3) Go to Settings > Application Manager
4) Go to "All" tab
5) Find Google Services Framework and open it
6) Select Clear data (for Google Services Framework)
7) Go back to Accounts and sync and add you Google account
That solved it for me.

Hmmmm assuming you have internet synced, try open built-in web browser, will it give you FC?
Hello,
I have a strange problem after my update to 4.1 in my browser. After the update the freeze problem in my browser was gone, unfortunatelly I saw, that it had some problems while loading pictures. Therefore I cleared the cache and all data - as told in this forum to solve the freeze problem (in combination with a cold boot).
After that, all bookmars were deleted (as expected), unfortunately now I have no possibility to get acces to my bookmarks on google. It shows only the section - Local -. Even Saving new bookmarks I can only choose to save them -Local-.
Next step was looking at the Settings for sync - strangely there was no option for syncing the bookmarks. I have the usual contact, calendar, Pisca, mail and so on... but no possibility to sync the bookmarks.
On my Galaxy everything works fine.
When I delete the cahce and all data again, the browser shows a short messsage that it connects to the bookmarks on google (with my account) for about 3-5 seconds- but it does not work.
Does anyone has any idea what to to?
Thank you very much in advance. If there is already a topic regarding this problem, I am sorry, I could not find it.
Regards, Sebastian

Doesn't work on my Galaxy Nexus too. I believe Google drop that feature, since the JB official browser is Chrome, and Chrome sync is working fine.
I also have a Prime and a Gnex. I'm running Bamf JB rom on Gnex and the stock browser has my bookmarks. But the prime does not, same with no option in the sync settings. Why is this gone?
CMarks from the market will restore this functionality :good:.

When you say JB official browser is chrome, do i have to download it from the play store? I find chrome from Google play slower than the stock browser
How do you force Chrome or Dolphin to reload a page? On a PC, ctrl+F5 will force a page to reload, ignoring any part of it that was saved in cache. How do you do the same in Chrome for Android or Dolphin? I've spent some time Googling this, but all I get a pages about Chrome for PC.
Hi, my wife's phone when searching in chrome does not provide any places when you do a web search in chrome. I.e. if you search for "home Depot near me"it won't show you nearby home Depot locations. It does however work normal if you use the Samsung internet browser which she is using for now. Does anybody know the cause of this? Is it a setting somewhere? I have cleared cache and even did a factory reset and the problem still persists.
Goto to Settings / Apps
