As fas as I know, you only need to do "repo sync -f" and all will be downloaded.

package list for compiling android

Hello everyone,
I'm in the process of trying to build my own android OS but am stuck on one thing. I have downloaded the android repo and have my build environment setup ok. In the packages folder I have Launcher2 and VoiceDialer folders which I do not want to compile and build into my OS build. Would anyone know how to remove packages from being compiled?
Thank you for any pointers you may have.

Creating a CM build for an old device that only has old CM support

I've been trying to figure out how to build Cyanogenmod from source for a few devices. I've looked at many tutorials and such, but I haven't been able to find one that explains how to build Cyanogen for a device that had an old version of Cyanogen but hasn't been updated since. For example, the official builds for a certain device only go up to 12.1, but I want to build it for 13.0. Does anyone have any advice?

I would recommend starting by using the device tree for your device that supports 12.1 and try using that tree to compile 13. To do this download the 13 code and put the 12.1 device tree in the proper folders (device, vendor, kernel) and try compiling a build and start seeing what errors you get. Let me know if you still have questions I'll do my best to help you out!

Latest Lollipop Security patches

I just wanted to know if there is any flashable version of the latest security patches for any AOSP based roms? I'm currently running a CAF variant of Euphoria 1.1 on my OnePlus One and it has everything I need as far as features and I don't see any reason to upgrade to 6.0 yet. If anybody can point me in the right direction would be helpful. Even if I have to build my own version of the rom I'll do so as I do have some building experience (some, not alot).
Thanks

[Q] About building ROMs for a higher version of Android

So, I'm building my very first LineageOS 15.1 ROM with the files I got from Stock Android 7.1.1. I don't have a phone to test it yet, so I decided to collect some info to improve it.
My device has a chipset MSM8937. The latest Android version was 7.1.1 by the time I started to mess with the Lineage, now they released 8.1 for the device.
1- If I want to build LOS16.0, am I supposed to replace the proprietary files with a device with LineageOS 16 and same chipset's proprietary files?
2- What kind of changes I have to make when using files of a lower Android version to make a higher Android version?
Thanks in advance. :fingers-crossed:

OP was correct in his request, because:
1. LineageOS' last build for Manta was July 2017, and the kernel was last patched and updated in 2018. That's very old for security patches.
2. And yes, it's fairly difficult to build for older versions with those older blobs that are no longer available for download.
CM13 was the last version released for Manta (Nexus 10).
If you care to read carefully, the build process does not bring in newer security patches into either build - it only pulls these last-known builds and builds them.
