Worth buying new redmi note 3 ? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Have a querry..
I had a kenzo redmi note 3 which got stolen 2 weeks ago...
Purchased a redmi 4 indian version.
Like using custom roms. Should i sell the redmi 4 and go for a new redmi note 3??
Thanks..

You're talking about Redmi note 4? Because RN3 is considerably better than Redmi 4 and if you want to try custom roms then should go for RN3 because I don't think any other device from Xiaomi will get this much traction. Big developers like Franco & flar working on our device what more do you need.

Awesome thought man. If you really love custom ROMs then get tge RN3 back. Its probably wlrth it. And moreover you won't be able to run high end ROMs in the redmi 4(assuming you git the 6k Redmi 4)

As long as you flash the right things, because that device is kate not kenzo, you'll be fine.

Better to stick to kenzo since all roms are made for kenzo. Only some work on the kate.

You're wrong, all ROM (except those based on MIUI) works on both Kenzo & Kate, the only difference is in the firmware (radio/baseband), and it's not flashed when you install a custom ROM.

:good:
Except for Exodus ROM Nougat.
That Rom flashes a Kenzo firmware 1st before the ROM. Well flashing Kate firmware afterwards would fix the problem.
@vetusa2
The only thing you really need to be careful of is when flashing MIUI or Firmware.

2)Take a backup.
3) after unlocking the bootloader install Twrp .
4) flash the ROM and gapps .
5) Done
Go with mokee having really big devs support and most stable ROM yet other ones are xosp

Fingerprint issue on new hardware.

I bought the Redmi note 3 pro sd version on 27th june. I guess it has the new fingerprint hardware. Requesting previous developer who has built the cm radio zip to work the fingerprint on cm based Roms to create another zip for new hardwares or else it's really uneasy to use the ROM for us. Like it's easy but we really miss the fingerprint. feels like it's not there. Hope we'll get It on the new hardware soon. thanks. :fingers-crossed:
Have also the battery problem?

Fingerprint sensor works fine on official leaked MM rom but doesn't work on cm based ROM & ported MIUI 7.3.9 MM rom from special edition.
Use Official MIUI8 then.
Do you mean 6.6.23 by official ?
The point is we want to try other not miui roms too, also that leaked mm rom is full of bugs.

I have Redmi note 3 Snapdragon edition. I am in a dilemma whether to use supersu or magisk. What if I dont flash supersu instead i flash magisk on my redmi note 3? Will there be any issues or if i flash magisk on my redmi note 3 then i have to flash some other things also? Please help me out
Doesn't really make a difference. Both will give you root rights.
The advantage of MagiskSU is that it comes with Magisk Hide which allows you to hide the fact that your phone is rooted. It doesn't work with all ROMs and Kernels though.
Some people also have a problem with the fact that SuperSU became a commercial company.

Redmi note 4 mtk nikel rom suggestion

Hi all, I'm going to clean my redmi note 4 mtk and I want to try something newer than android 6 and miui global stable 9.6.1.0.
Any suggestion? the smartphone is unlocked and rooted.
I doubt we'll ever see any working rom with Android newer than 6.0.1 but you can always try latest MIUI 10 from xiaomi.eu
I searched on xiaomi.eu but I find only HMNote5 rom, nothing with HMNote4 name

The stable version of MIUI 10 for HMNote4 wasn't released yet.
You can use the weekly (developer) build from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...files/xiaomi.eu/MIUI-WEEKLY-RELEASES/8.10.11/
With this can I update as soon a build was published without loosing data?
I'm thinking to be up to date each installing each weekly until become stable
There are custom roms with Android 7 but i think they are not MIUI roms... AOSP or similar...
Me personally, prefer MIUI and i firmly stay with MIUI8...for me,best battery life. On MIUI9 is irritating that they placed adds all around (in file manager, cleaner, security etc).
And with 9.6.1.0 my battery lasted for maximum 14h and 4h of SOT... With 8.2.1.0 (on which i returned yesterday) it lasts for roughly 30h and 6,5-7h of SOT... I use both sim slots, am heavy user due to business number (push emails, calls, sms...), WiFi, mobile internet, GPS constantly on...
There are some AOSP roms with even better battery life, but as i said, i like and prefer MIUI ☺
P.S. and my phone is almost 2 years old [emoji123]

You tried others non MIUI rom, if I understood.
Any hint? Is it possible to downgrade from 9.6.1.0 to 8.2.1.0?

You want antutu bench score?
I had battery drain since 1 month ago but without MIUI update, I don't know why.
Was more than 1 year ago I made a fresh install so I decided to try beta MIUI 10 and seems no drain (not the best duration but no drain for sure)

It is, i downgraded it from 9.6.1.0 to 8.2.1.0 using MiFlash tool...but be carefull, there is a special MiFlash Tool version for MTK processors.
I found this version on some YouTube clip, the guy left download link in the description ☺
Yes, i tried non-MIUI roms as well,but i prefer MIUI ☺
As i saw, there is Android One for Xiaomi A1 available for Redmi Note 4,fully functional only some setups in camera not working (which is expected) so if you like, you can try that one as well ☺
