While i was new to the forum after buying my redmi note 3,i was wondering through the different posts of flashing recoveries and stock ROM's. Thats when i came across a thread which said that after wiping the storage(or something like that) while in MIUI i must boot MIUI once and then only my whole storage will be seen otherwise i would not get my whole storage. I don't remember who's post it was. Though i followed the instructions and now am using lineageOS.
Well, but the issue is not with my RN3, instead its with my letv le 1s in which i recently flashed lineage and now i have that error of not getting all the storage. In the guide i referred to,there was no mention of booting back to the Stock ROM,so after a wipe,i simply flashed Lineage OS.
Now i see 29.5gb used of 29.11 gb in storage although I don't have a single thing in there.
I know its off topic in terms if the phone bit I don't think the letv forum has people who will help me or maybe have the ability and experience to help me. So, its a request, before replying that i am not in the right place please help me if you can. Thanks.
Edit: Solved. Check 3rd post.

I was running the Spike Pure ICS on my SGS2, before which I had the ICS version of MIUI. I tried flashing Lite'ning Rom 3.6 through Odin, but was unsuccessful. Also, that's time I noticed the 7.2 version of CM and decided to flash that and that's when the problem occurred.
Although I could flash CM 7.2 properly and could also install the GApps through CWM, on rebboting it through the CWM, my phone got stuck and it wouldn't go into Recovery any more.
Luckily, it would boot into Download Mode and I could flash the stock rom through Odin and get my phone back to stock, thereby losing the Root and CWM.
I wanna know as to what could cause such an issue to arise. so that I can prevent it later!
Your help and time are appreciated!!
Why start a 2nd thread ?
That's because every person who replied told me how to go about the problem, but nobody told me why it occurred in the first place!
I posted this thread so that I can know how to avoid such a problem in the first place, as such a problem seemed very unique to all the people I talked to.
And you couldn't make another post to your initial post along the lines of 'Why did this occur in the first place ?' You could even easily change the title of your initial thread to reflect your desire to know the answer to this question.
One of the main rules of XDA is don't spam.
I'm extremely sorry if I've spammed as it wasn't my intention at all!
This thread was and still is a genuine question which I want to know!!
Also, could you please tell me about the occurrence of such a problem on my phone??

I think answer was there but might be not clear......
When you flash gb over ICS you have to wipe, when you mix stuff after that, meaning trying different kernels to fix the issue it might get worse.
Because recovery is somewhat linked to kernel in s2, you won't get recovery in a messed up system.
So when you flash a complete firmware using Odin and then do data cache wipe, it get fixed.
Hope this helps.
But then how is it possible that my phone didn't get all messed up when I flashed CM 9(Nightly) over my pre-existing CM 7.1, while it happened when I tried it vice versa?
already told you, when you go from ICS newer kernel to GB older kernel, wipe is necessary. Going from GB to ICS will work but wipe is better there too.
Thanks a lot for your help.
So what exact procedure do I have to follow if I want to mover from ICS to GB?
Flash a GB rom.

save data
Wipe dial *2767*3855#
Flash GB Rom, preferably stock using Odin.
Should boot now, if not go into recovery and wipe data cache.
It will boot now.
Greetings
As the tittle points outs, I flashed the latest Androwook Rom(2.1) and it always stucks at the Intro Crawl. I re-downloaded it, flashed it again, but had had no success.
The Prime has been unlocked since May, and it was running the Cyanogen Nightly Rom, before I tried the Wook one. I wiped Cache and Delvik, and tried an older build as well with no success. I use the latest TWRP, 2.1.3. I also tried all availlable kernels and options during the installation with no success.
Can anyone give me a hint as to what is the problem? I can always go back to CM Rom, but I would feel like I accepted defeat.
Also, why does the installation always wipe my internal sd card , when no such option is selected?

jumping from one rom to another needs a full wipe i guess... when you said wiping your internal sd card, that's the reason why you're stuck into crawling? so i guess you use adb to push the ROM, then flash again?
in my case, when i had a bootlop, i push fullwipe.zip first, flash it, then push Androwook.zip, then flash it... it all came back alive..
First of all, thank you for your reply!

Yup, did one (factory reset+system wipe) before trying to flash AW Rom.

After the first three unsuccessfull attempt to flash the ROM did I wipe my internal SD, so it isn't the crawling looping intro's problem. And yes, I push ROMs via Adb, and trying flashing.

That was actually the last step I tried before asking for help. Even after I typed this post, I did it again. Flashed it, pushed AW, and flashed again. No success.
*Edit: I have forgotten a primary Troubleshooting technique. Downloading AW2.1 from a different source, will update.
sorry but im not much of a help i can see... hope somebody could. don't lose hope though...
Intentions matter
Thanks for your time anyway!
After two more failed flashes, I got it to boot!
Apparently the starting animation was causing some kind of problem, which I cannot ever imagine. After I checked the option to have the uggly original boot animation, the rom booted normally and I am now using it.
I am quite happy to get it to work, but if anyone has any solution to the boot problem, I would be really glad to hear him!

Hello Everybody! Guys, sorry for my english!!!!!
First of all, I have to present myself, my name is Marco, I'm italian, 25 years old and I'm in the Android world since about 12 Years.
I started whit a Galaxy S2, and after I bought an Asus Transformer Prime.
After just two week, I decided to put in a Custom ROM, on my devices, and I understood how the system work better instead of a Stock ROM!
And after, I understood, how the XDA Developers Forum is important for me, and expecially for all the people who like to learn about the Android World.
So, I just want to Thanks with all of you for the support that i receive EVERY DAY to solve my problems!
One of these was with flashing the Androwook, weeks ago I flashed the Team EOS 2.0, that was really amazing, but after a While, I found some slowdowns in some action on the system, so i decided to try a rom based on the stock rom, but with improvement and tweaks, so what's better then the Androwook?
The problem was, the same explained on this post, after all wipes, the prime was not boot, and stuck in bootanimation!
I solved, checking the box "Install custom ROM" as drsane1984 have done, and now the ROM is booted perfectly!!
Thanks another time! I'am convinced that if you are able to seach, you'll find for sure the solution to your problems! If not, just ask!
Bye!
Hi all,
I have an I9300T running slimbean 3.0.0 on the CM 3.0.31 kernel and CWM touch recovery. I'm having some issues and I have a few general questions which I am having real trouble getting answers to, please bear with me:
1/ I'd like to know how to do a full restore to stock ROM and kernel/firmware, I can find heaps of info on applying the stock ROM but not the kernel/firmware, how do I get it back to factory state (and where to download the neccessary files)? I'm not even sure how many different firmwares/recoveries/kernels etc there are and which ones I have changed or if they are all the same thing or not. I'm pretty new to all this and admittedly have just blindly followed the step-by-steps to install a better ROM than factory's without any real knowledge of what I'm doing.
2/ What do I need to get my MHL-HDMI adapter to work? I'd like to use my S3 with a monitor as a desktop computer and I have had no luck in getting any response to this in the slim bean developer's thread. All of the kernels' developers' posts I have looked at make no mention of support for this. Can anyone tell me if there are any third party kernels that support HDMI-out via MHL? If anyone DOES know, could you also please let me know which ROMs will work with said kernel?
3/ How do I erase the internal 'sd' card. I don't actually have an SD card in, but there is 12 or so GB of internal phone storage which, even after a Settings>Backup&Reset>Factory data reset, does not get erased. From 'storage' on the settings menu, the 'erase' button is greyed out. After a factory reset it keeps all my photos and application data which I am trying to get rid of. I have backed up everything to my PC which I need.
4/ Are there any real dumbed down beginner guides to coding for android for imbeciles like me? I've searched and searched but every "Tutorial 1 - Hello World" tutorial seems to manage to start the first sentence by confusing the hell out of me.
Thanks for the help guys and sorry for the long post, its just that I've been searching and asking around but getting answers to the above questions has been about as easy as getting blood from a stone
Cheers
Tim
For 1) flashing a stock rom will also flash the stock kernel, if included.
For 2) just buy an original adapter, works best I find.
For 3) factory reset should do the job, otherwise search for mega/super wipe which you can flash in cwm, will erase anything, first one also your rom, hence be careful!
For 4) no clue sorry

3. Thats phone memory left out of 16gb. You will not get more than that because of the operating system and everything else which is running your phone. Everyone with 16gb model has that amount of memory.

Yeah but, how do I erase it without deleting important OS related stuff?

you will get back your original recovery every time you flash a stock rom, if you want to flash only the stock recovery, I guess you could extract it from one of the stock rom's files.

as I said, factory reset will delete all "your" data & apps, the rest as said by Dean is OS stuff, hence in a 16GB version you will always have less than 16GB in storage as the OS takes space.
The important OS data can be deleted, as I mentioned with mega wipe, whereas you have to make sure to have another rom on your external SD card that you can flash. This option is not always necessary to chose as a factory reset should be enough to flash any rom, whereas I like to start clean sometimes, hence use mega wipe.

Hi Tim,
Welcome to the S3 forum!
A few answers to your questions .
1. You can go onto Sam Mobile and find out what the latest stock firmware is for your country. As far as I know the latest for the UK is XXDLJ4 and XXDLID Modem. You can find this by going to the Stock firmware thread in the S3 forum here on XDA and downloading the latest UK release. I am currently running this myself.
2. In order to use your HDMI adapter for your S3 you need to be running a Samsung based ROM, the one I mentioned earlier is perfect(XXDLJ4)
Any other ROM AOSP or AOKP or MIUI doen not have HDMI support.
3.You can either factory rest to wipe SD or you can flash a custom recovery and then select "mounts and storge"/"format internal SD"
4.Wait for XDA university, sounds awesome!!!
Any questions PM me
Good luck!

Thanks HEAPS for the reply! I'm actually newcastle, australia but that's OK because I found it!
I guess I'll see what I can do with the stock ROM, it's a shame there hasn't been more support for MHL. It seems like it's a really big feature to have but nobody seems to care about it.
No format internal SD option for me only external SD
Didn't know about XDA University... will DEFINITELY be all over that when it hits
Cheers
Hi there, in my poco f1 i had OnePlus 7 port OnePlus R OB1, latest by the oofgang and last night the whole root partition was cleaned while my phone was in ideal state. The rom was rooted with latest Magisk, the data was not encrypted and the kernel i was using at that time was NoNameKernel4OOS_NYGGU&up-only.zip by amog787 which i installed that same day around 4-5 PM. Actually i was watching a video on YouTube around 1 Am and i had to take a break of 10 mins so i just turned off the screen and put it aside, when i came back it was in fastboot mode, i was confused.
I did reboot and it again went to fastboot mode so i rebooted to recovery and checked everything, i was very panicked and surprised that my whole root partition was gone including System, Data and Internal Storage everything except Bootloader and Recovery.
Can someone please explain how this is possible.

I don't know why it happened but I remember reading that some OnePlus ports were very problematic and could even brick the phone. You should stick to the trusted ROMs like Lineage (which has official support and is very active) and find a theme that mimics OnePlus appearance instead.

Thanks for replying bro, I'm not a OnePlus fan, just wanted to check it out. Well the whole purpose of this post was to find out how is this possible or if this was done by the rom, how come it waited for couple days and then formatted my root partition. I just want to know what happened and I'm quite sure it's impossible to format the whole root partition remotely.

Hello.
I wanted to install Pixel Experience 12, knowing that the Mi 11 Lite 5G is Treble-Compatible and already had Pixel exp 11.
What i did is that i had Pixel Experience 11, so i backed up everything using TWRP, and i tried to flash the ROM using Fastboot using the "Pixel Experience 11" post, that actually was a success for me. But, TWRP Fastboot didn't work, so i flashed stock rom, to get the stock fastboot, and tried to flash.
I got onto fastboot, and when trying to flash Pixel Exp 12, it says that it cannot find the "system" partition?
But then, what is MIUI using?!!!!
When backing up, i also seen that there were no "system" partition to recover.
I tried to recover that backup, and it also didn't work. So now i have to use MIUI, and i had to reinstall everything.
What i exactly want is just tips or instructions for Pixel Experience 12, if possible.
I also can't show you screenshots, since i actually did that few days ago.
