Is AVG protection (the free Version) a good antivirus?
There are free better ones?
And paid?

Thanks, but in "all of that garbage" clean master is included
I use it for having more storage because it let's me to have an ancient version of apps that occupies less storage
Before update to android 6.0.1 I could make it in the settings but now I don't find it
This setting exists (on my android version) or do I need this app for this function?
How can I uninstall the apps that came with the phone, the phone only allows me to disable them?
To uninstall system apps you must be root user. Then use Titanium backup to uninstall. Antivirus not necessary. Sorry my English

Hi all,
I just happen to find out that avast releases a mobile security for android and I have been a big fan of avast antivirus until today,....it crosses my mind to ask all of you on your opinion about this one too...
Do We Need Any Kind of Mobile Security for an Android?
and if you think we should have it,
What Are You Using and Why Do You Think You Need It?
Thanks In Advance.....
Personally I have never used an Antivirus on any of my Android phones.
If you install apps from the Market or from any other source you feel is trustworthy, you shouldn't need an app monitoring everything on the phone. This is not Windows, so an antivirus would decrease the phone's performance, while the chances of actually needing it to take action are slim.

I always kept Lookout on my previous phone, but because of available memory on X10's, I no longer do. I do have the apk on my sdcard and I've loaded Lookout and scanned and unloaded it a few times just to satisfy myself that it really isn't needed. And the more memory available, the better.

That is also one of the reason, why I never have any kind installed myself, unless if ever own a phone that comes with 2gb of ram,i'll be rest assured that my phone won't have serious memory shortage...for now I think, I'll pass.
Recovered my mobile data with the help of mobile security app
I use mobisecurity.net which i found to be best anti-theft application till now . It compatible for Android, Symbian and Blackberry.
Recently i lost my Symbian device but with the help of mobisecurity i could track the location and wipe all my personal data before anyone can misuse it. But later i easily recovered and restored it from my account. :good:
No, just use antithief if you like...
I used nod, Norton, avast ....
None of them detected only 1 virus but I keep tons of apps in my sdcard & all of them are cracked (can't buy apps in here, market unavailable )
Wasting CPU performance & ram

I think the best antivirus is your brain. If you install apps from playstore than youre good. However some apps that has very low rating, downloads, or the description is very creepy could been harmfull.
I prefer idea that if you use apps like facebook, instagram etc. from playstore so you dont have to scan it with antivirus because they are from trusted developers and they have milions of download. So if they were defected or malware, they could be already reported.
If you install apps from untrusted sources they could contain mallicious code.
Conclusion: For daily user which daily use phone for calling, sms, facebook, gtalk and install "famous" or good known apps from playstore is antivirus useless because it is fast impossible to have malware on his phone. Using apps from other sites is good too but only if you can trust that site .
this is only my opinion. you will never have 100% security but it is fast imposible to catch malware on your phone.
I am running android 4.0.3 on a Samsung galaxy s2 from vodafone and will like to have a light firmware. What processes or apps can I remove without affecting the way the phone functions (i.e. google partner setup). Is it possible to create a program to remove all unwanted processes without flashing a new ROM.
I'll also like to increase the connectivity speed to HSPA+.
Addition of new information.
I came across this article on XDA's main page and thought I share it. It is self explanatory and I think it should work on any version. Please any question should be directed to the forum OP. Enjoy

My favorite app is called titanium backup, it lets you remove everything you want and if you make a mistake you can restore what you deleted. The freeze option on the paid version is really good.
Titanium Backup is easily the most useful app for any rooted phone. The paid version is not much better than the free version, other than giving the developer some support and appreciation. It lets you freeze apps so they no longer appear in your app drawer, and even uninstall bloatware that you specifically select. It's a must have and it will definitely save you more than once! Hope this helps

Why does com.tmobile.pr.adapt keep insisting on requesting root once rooted?
My guess is....when they pull u up in grandcentral (troubleshooting) it tells them if the phone is rooted. W the my tmobile app they can see everything. Apps storage space. (Not individual pics or videos) even how much storage space you have left. I think it constantly runs in the background always asking until it gets it or the phone dies. I know its safe to uninstall I have on the g4 and v10.
Where can you uninstall it?

If rooted, TBU allows for it to be frozen or even uninstalled. I went as far as removing all traces of T-Mobile bloatware

I use Rom Toolbox Pro to freeze backup uninstall stuff
A good app is "system uninstaller". It automatically keeps a copy of what ever you uninstall and reinstalls it with ease if ever needed. It also allows a batch uninstall.
Can someone recommend an app to see how apps are using the battery? Non-root. Thanks.

You already have that in your phone: Device Care. >> battery>hit the graph...it's all there
Finding the battery hogs on Pie was hard.
With Q and above it's much harder unless you give a 3rd party app the permissions it needs with ADB. Logging won't function with Karma Firewall in Q either.
In Devive Care Android Services are all bunch together and are the various Google apks listed correctly? Galaxy Labs Battery Tracker works better but not compatible with Q, of course.
GSM Battery Monitor. Long time best. Yes, to get details you need ADB commands to change permissions. But this app has been around forever.
We use 3 Android phones with CCleaner 5.4.0 > Apps > Drainers > Battery
On all but one (out of three), Google Play Store uses 44% of battery

Isn't CCleaner for the phone to intrusive? I mean, for the phone - I use CCleaner on my desktop to clear the daily backlog (had a few things disabled in the program to limit feedback to them) but personally, I wouldn't want tthat on my phone. Adguard dns and frequent clearing all the 'recents' imo keeps my phone pretty safe.

Watch Ccleaner it can and will delete things you don't want it too. SD Maid is better.
Use Karma Firewall to block Google backup Transport, Framework and Goggle Play Services*.
Package block
https://www.packagedisabler.com/ the former 2 and delete data of all 3 as needed.
Firewall block Playstore and Android Services.
Disable all cloud apks and all feedback, carrier, Samsung and Google.
*disable all autosync except SMS. Firewall enable Google Play Services for Gmail and Playstore.
A reboot needed for Playstore.

CCleaner for Android does not delete anything in just junk cleaning mode.
We use Glasswire Elite on all our phones & tablets
And I setup ADB AppControl 1.6.0 Extended edition for app disable, delete, install

We use the Pro version, full license. Same on all our laptops. It is surprisingly good on our phones & tablets
GSAM battery monitor. Need a couple adb commands but it's non root and is a great app.

What is the safest way to de-bloat the phone? What apps are people using to remove unneeded apps? For example I don't use Google TV. Is it safe to uninstall or just freeze? There is Systemless Debloater but I'm not sure if it's fully comparable.

I use Systemless Debloater.
In the begining I tested it on as many devices I could.
- Few Pixel(s), OnePlus(s), Motorola and Xiaomi devices.
- I know someone who is currently using it on a Samsung S20+ (now on Android 13).
The module was just recently updated to handle a new OnePlus (ColorOS ?) directory.
/system/my_bigball
Since it is systemless, it is safe and fairly easy to use.
The hardest part is finding the app name you want to debloate.
Cheers.
Edit:
PS.
I might be a little bias though.

I use SD Maid Pro and freeze apps, because a) it isn't possible to delete apps from the system partition, and b) it's safer than trying to remove the apps permanently.
+1 for the freeze option. Less likely to cause any issues and if it does, it's easy to unfreeze. Fwiw, 3C Toolbox also offers the freeze/unfreeze function as should most decent app managers. I'll let most factory included apps remain until they show up on my wake-lock more often than I think they should or is necessary. It's all about battery 4 me...the more my phone stays in light doze/doze or deep sleep WITHOUT causing any late or missing notifications the better. I try to stay in that 'sweet spot' as far as the battery goes.
even frozen apps still run. i have google play services and framework frozen and they still hammer my firewall.
makes you feel better about it though..
