OUCH!!!
Bet he won't do that again
One question though:
Is this with, or without the shatterproof protector that was pre-installed?
If it was on, I'm curious how the non-screened ones will hold up.

its with the stock screen protector. Dont know if its shatterproof
I guess its only shatter-resistant then.
Did he happen to drop it off a tall building? That's some bad damage D:.

The stock screen protector's job is to hold the pieces of the broken screen underneath so nobody gets hurt!
your friend removed stock screen protector?
Bad luck, i've been in a motorcycle accident with the phone in my pocket and it came out unharmed.

When I had my x10 it got dropped many times without incident. The time that broke the screen it fell about 24 inches onto carpet lol

Put Screen protector provide in the box on your phone.
After that,
you can play football with it .
It comes with a screen protector? The Rogers one doesn't. Those cheap bastards!
Damn where did he drop it ?
Since it has like 2/3 dents (points of impact)
Looks like it dropped with the screen down on a pebble stone path

How can I tell if there's a screen protector pre-installed? The Sony store told me there isn't one. When I had the X10 and Arc they both had pre-installed screen protectors.
I just got another Rogers one. The first one I had there was an issue with the home screen. I have yet to test out the screen to see if I have the yellow tint issue. I will play some games and heat up the device and look out for it.
Is there an app that looks for dead pixels or the yellow tint issue?
Thanks
Hey everyone. I dropped my phone today......my brand new phone :'(
Screen fractured on the top, but the phone still works, touch screen is in tact, all functions still work like normal.
Question:
What do I need to buy now to replace the damaged screen, because I don't LIKE it!
I see that people are selling the outer glass screen lens like this, for $20ish
http://www.ebay.com/itm/U-For-Samsu...ltDomain_0&hash=item4d0314f1ff#ht_3326wt_1159
and then people are selling complete LCD with Digitizer (whatever that is) for $225
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-F...276?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35be08ef4c
The phone is working fine...it's just the glass. Which one do I have to get?
Thanks so much!

If the glass is glued to the digitizer, then why would so many people be selling the glass alone without the digitizer if there wasn't any use for it?
Hi all,
new to this forum, I bought an S2 off ebay for £50 with a smashed glass front but the diitizer was still fully workng so decided to see if i could save it and cut the cost of shelling out £70 on a complete screen replacement, I have purchased 2 glass front screens for just over a fiver on ebay.
Ok so I took the phone apart and left thescreen and digitizer attatched to the bezel and metal frame I posted the video on youtube check it out............waiting for my glass front screens to arrive will update when I have them.
check the link I have put on youtube my username on there is cadburyfudge ............I can't seem to put a link in thread as I am a new user........
With a hot air gun...........carefully.

Lol of courseyou will!! but you will need a better tool than a plastic credit card or plectrum to get the glue and glass apart on these!!!!!
I had to use a very thin flat leading edge scalpel blade!!
Oh sorry,I thought it was a question.
I never had my "heres someone that thinks he knows something we dont" glasses on.
Theres loads of videos showing the procedure on you tube already.

LOL u seem to have all the answers ............I don't see an effort to show how the process is done by YOU.......just smartass /condescending comments to all forum users on here looking at ur posts!!!!
Your the donk thinking youve created something[constructive].
Non cheapskates that bought good working phones[and take care of them] would watch that "proper" you tube video if they need to disassemble their phones.
All in all this thread is just spamming some donks you tube channel.
And I see youve spammed other threads harping on about the outer screen cover does separate.
Maybe someone will award you a gold star........lol

Whateva (yawn) .......go .get a life and do something of ur own instead of riling others u muppet..............And for your information that video dosn't show how to separate the glass screen from the lcd panel you twonk so take a hike and buy ur expensive replacement digitizer for £70 upwards cos you ain't got the balls to carry out such an operation urself cos ur probably a useless t.w.at!!!!
UPDATE .............
Ok everyone my adhesives arrived and glass screens...............................................pretty simple now .............just peel off the backing stick it on your phone and carefully without getting fingerprints all over the new screen place it on and press down all over...............I used a hairdryer to heat up the glass front to make sure everything was super tacky underneath the n press down all over to make sure of good adhesion.
Also make sure the lcd panel is spotless before you stick the screen on ......you don't want any bits in there between thee glass and the LCD
here is the link of the stuff and finished phone ..................http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01kdeCljfTY&feature=plcp[/URL
Phone back to working condition and screen all works as it should!!!!!!!!
i don't know how i should express my feelings right now i'm so pissed off angry nd mad and what not purchased my phone in september,i purchased a flip cover to protect it i never dropped my phone NEVER .. so here is how the screen got broken..
i left my phone on the bed for charging and i don't know why i did not cover the screen with the flap of the flip cover but after 5 mins i LIGHTLY pulled the usb cable from the charger and the usb socket hit the screen directly and at the moment i did not even relaised that the screen is broken i saw it after half hour and i was shocked how is this even possible my bad luck i guess.. btw will order a new front panel off eaby today i'm just very sad that my lovely phone is broken
screens are not good because i used my old webcam to take photos..
Crack by usb socket?
How can the screen be so fragile? Mine drop a few times at my bed height. So far no crack yet. Just not your luck I guess.

Hi guys!
I bought a Galaxy Mega 6.3 just 2 weeks ago and today I accidentally dropped it on the road.
I now have a shattered glass, the touch doesn't work all over but i can touch the status bar and with more effort touching it in just that upper area, I can make the status bar come down and read all notifications.
Now I wanted to know if the touch is working on the status bar area, is the digitizer broken? Do I need to change the digitizer with glass or changing ONLY the outer glass will work?
Very Sad bro...
I think if any of these broken ,Samsung will change both glass and the Digitizer ...
what was the fallen height and the type of Road? I am very much afraid now...
Most likely a break in the digitiser cable where it joins the screen, I'm guessing you'll need to replace both anyway if the digitiser is stuck to the screen.
Digitalizer is fused to the screen

Very sad to hear it bro...
If you are in India and if you brought the phone after July 1st or Aug 1st (Not sure about the exact date) then Samsung is going to replace the screen for free for once only. Please take it to the service center and check about this...Samsung started this recently due to the high cases on screen damages. Hope this helps...

No its not, the digitizer and glass are not fused. I took mine apart, they are glued only around the edges. in between there is some kind of lube like oil.

Yeah it isn't fused to the screen. On AMOLED panels it is because the screen technology us different. On LCD the LCD and digitizer is seperate. You need to remove the layer of glass with the digitizer which is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. On Etrade Supply the part is around $70 USD

Ya... Trying to seperate lcd & digitizer is a cumbersome work.....
But samsung ships it as a single unit. U wont get just lcd or digitizer seperately.
Overnight over a charge, my screen went unresponsive, on wake it respond intermittently, can that be digitizer issue?
Glass only, digitizer, lcd panel, can be bought 3rd party, in 1, 1+2, or 3-in-1 combo, ranging from US$6/12/29.now online So can I separate the digitizer+glass safely from the lcd panel? (Latter is still very good, not prepared to change that to 3rd party)
But 3rd party could not work with 4.4. At least mostly... You need to be sure from vendor if purchased parts will work under KK.

Probably in CM11 you will have no problems, but yes, unfortunately they are if you have stock rom...
Some people who changed screen in Mega were very surprised after actualization from 4.2 to 4.4 if changed parts were not original Samsung. Of course there are venhdors selling OEM screens working in 4.4 too, but you must be very sure about it before buing parts.
Actually I'm still asking if it's easy to separate.digitizer from lcd panel on Mega (nonAMOLED)? (digitizer replacement)

Thanks my friend, possible but tough and not worth the time, considering scraping /scrubbing away the separated full face glue, and reapplying and tweaking the liquid glue to make it invisible when reassembling.

IMHO you are right. Better to buy complete screen and replace it without so much hassle.
hello, my Samsung A20 glass cracks up. however, i can touch all over the screen just the same and it works well. Do I need to replace the entire screen or just the outer glass?
