[Question] Is SRSRoot feasible? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is SRSRoot feasible?
I saw it's twitter feed say that my phone model was rooted. I tested it and it said it worked but it just rebooted. If it did work I suspect it's work was rewritten upon reboot.

did you try with KingoRoot? or IRoot?
latest update for it was on 2015, it might be Old.

VWell, KingoRoot fails and then crashes. IRoot loaded my phone with Chinese apps and then failed. KingRoot says the device isn't supported. I'm kind of at a loss of what to try next, if there is anything.
Also, yeah, thanks for pointing out it was old. I actually didn't realize that.
My device is a TracFone ZTE Majesty Pro LTE [Z799VL][Android 6.0.1]

OK, now we're talking, you can't root android 6.0+ with any one click root app, as far as i know, the device is new, you will have to wait till a custom Recovery is built for the phone, or you can build it your self, there are tutorials to build TWRP for general and also for MTK phones (In case your phone have one).
TWRP tutorial:

Alright, I'll look into it and see if I can accomplish anything. Thank you!

King root will root MANY phones with 6.0+and it's one click, but the older one clicks will not root 6.0+ however kingroot will NOT root this phone. This phone has a boot loader. And before anyone says anything, TRUE some phones, DONT have to have unlocked boot loaders to be rooted, but some do. As far as a custom recovery, exactly how you'd flash it to the device without root access I'm not sure. I even tried the old old zte merrit process for ginger bread, but you need to be really familiar with adb etc to use it. It's possible, just have to wait for some one that is a little better than me.. lol I noticed something in the build.prop that may be it, not sure. But it's no way to change that for sure without root. So not worth mentioning.

New to everything tried to root HTC ONE M8 AT&T to no avail need a sage.

hey guys this is my first post so if a break any rules please let me know, decided to try rooting my phone but it seems either they patched it or im doing something wrong. i have tried everything from rooting conected to the computer (one click roots, root genie and one that made me think i was doing it well until it told me i had to pay) to computerless root apps Kingroot framaroot etc king root just stops and says root failed and frama says phone is not vulnerable. i really wish to learn how towork my phone and do cools stuff so if anyone would like to take me under their wing i will be forever grateful.
Most of those one click roots don't work on this device. Kingroot is the only one that has any reports of working on the M8, and reports are mixed.
In short, the way to root this phone is unlock the bootloader by HTCDev.com, install custom recovery TWRP, then flash SuperSU to obtain root.
Good detailed guide is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799796
Although its pretty outdated, so some updates and comments:
- If you have HTC Sync installed on your computer (and you probably do since you connected your phone to your computer), you already have HTC drivers installed, so no need to do that.
- Use a newer version TWRP (recommend 3.0.0.0): https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
- Use a newer version SuperSU (2.65 is latest stable version): https://download.chainfire.eu/921/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65-20151226141550.zip

Just finished fighting same battle. Mine was a little more difficult as my phone screen was blacked out and I was working blind. However, I finally made it work using adb and fastboot from command prompt. If you follow the directions exactly, it works and is not all that hard. Hang in there. If you have specific questions, let me know and I will be happy to see if I can help.

Rooting Astro TAB

Trying to root an Astrotab but I'm not able to connect the device with usb debugging because I don't have the correct USB drivers on my windows 10 machine. After scouring the web I've been unable to find any in existence and hopefully someone here has been able to do so or knows of some workaround. I'm new to rooting and I am using an application called oneclickroot , I don't know if this is the best method but the software isn't recognizing the device due to lack of drivers. Here are my device specifications below
Model A935
Android version 5.1.1
Firmware Version v3.3rc5
Kernel Version 3.4.39 [email protected] #9

root apk
try to get some rooting apk on tablet, and try to root with that
Which do you recommend? I heard that kingroot leaves behind alot of bloatware that is hard to get rid of
UPDATE
Still not able to locate any ADB drivers for windows 10 on this device. Tried non pc apk's Kingroot , Towelroot/Iroot. Still no success , any help would be appreciated.
Working...
After 4-5 grueling hours finally got it working! How do i know if this is temporary or permanent root? I used root checker and it says it is properly installed on this device. Only thing there seems to be alot of bloatware on my device now. How do I tell what is safe to remove? Some crap called one click , app cool , etc was removed and I lost root access. Re-did process and got root again but still have the same chinese applications present on my device. App Cool , King root , superUser.. My question is do I have to deal with having them on my device , or is there a safe way to remove them without losing root?

Can you explain how you got it to root properly? I tried king root application on windows 10 but I couldn't get it to root. It's all in Chinese, as well.
I easily rooted this tablet with KingRoot then used the KingRoot to SuperSU script to get KingRoot replaced. But mainly I'm commenting because I just wanted any tablet owners to know that I have the stock firmware and flashing tools (windows) that u can use to get the tablet back to stock or save yourself from a bootloop ( I can confirm this because I bricked mine using substratum lol) Also I can confirm that marshmallow will b an option sometime during Q1 of 2017 as quoted from insipira.
Sort of....
The Marshmallow update will only work on A10 tablets manufactured after October 1, 2016 (according to the folks at Inspira) Unfortunately, it will give you a white screen and nothing more on older versions of the hardware - I know. I have one. I tried. It doesn't work. Save yourself the frustration. The biggest pain with the A10 is that the bootloader is locked and attempts to unlock it are a waste of your time. If you brute force KingoRoot on it, it will not survive a reboot because of the unlockable bootloader. The vendor is unable (or more likely unwilling) to provide an unlocking code which tells me future tablet business for self and clients will have to go elsewhere. PITY - it is a really nice little unit but not worth calling in the NSA to try to root it. Oh well, lots of other inexpensive Android Tablet vendors out there.

I have the same device and I've been unable to unlock the bootloader. I can get ADB working, boot into recovery just fine, but I can't figure out how to boot into the bootloader, whenever I try to (either using the adb command to reboot into bootloader or using recovery itself) it just shows the "Astro Tab" logo and gets stuck like that forever. I made sure to enable the option about allowing OEM bootloader unlock in the "Developer Settings" window.

Can you explain how you were able to use KingRoot to root this? I downloaded the apk from http://kingroot.net, installed it, and clicked the "Try Root" option, but it got stuck on the "Acquiring Root" step after a few minutes and completely crashed.
Here is a picture of where it got stuck: https://i.imgur.com/L4Pxtjn.jpg I couldn't even screenshot since system was frozen, and even connecting via ADB didn't work at this point. The reason I noticed that the device froze was because the clock did not update (it was around 8:30 when I took the picture, not 8:16 as shown).
I'm also having an issue unlocking the bootloader -- I can't even get to the bootloader (see my earlier post for details) but that's a whole different issue.

Is there a way to root a T-Mobile LG K7?

I'd forgotten what it's like to have an unrooted phone. I just got a T-Mobile LG K7 & am looking for a way to root it. The only info I found was a long thread on Android Forums by people who tried to root the K7 with KingRoot. The LG K7 is not on the list of phones that KingRoot supports, and the results looked iffy. (ex, It works fine if I stand on my right foot, pat my head and whistle the national anthem...)
Anyway I just thought I'd ask here. I'm no Android dev... just like having the phone rooted. I rooted my last 2 phones, but it's been so long that I hardly remember the steps involved.
[Ignore... didn't realize I could edit original post... sry! ]
Follow up for the sake of posterity...
Took the leap with KingRoot. It worked fine for the T-Mobile version of LG K7. At first KR put up a msg saying there was a problem-- do I want to try root anyway? I said Yes & it worked with no other issues. Super-easy.
Well, I'm off to do some de-bloating.
Have you found a custom rom? I've been looking for va cyanogen 13 mod for a few days. I'm a total noob with this but I'm very tech savvy. anyways.... as I said I started the whole root my phone project to free up memory. I've accomplished that. I've rooted my phone with king root and I've sent a lot of apps to my SD card. But now the hacker nerd in me wants to install android marshmallow. So we're kind of at time point U just seem way more experienced St this. I have built quite a few android based kodi boxes so I guess I'm not a total noon but this is my first exposure to rooting so having some lone to at least bounce around ideas with would be excellent. Thanks in advance for your time.

Ermmm... that would be no. I've rooted and flashed roms on my last 2 phones, but I got forum help. I don't know the nuts & bolts. Your best bet would be to create a thread & collaborate.
It's important to get a rom & recovery specific both to your phone provider & phone model. Ex, I have a T-Mobile LG K7. If I try to flash a rom for metro pcs LG K7, anything could happen... it may refuse to flash. It might flash & brick. It might actually work, but why take the chance?
If you find a rom somewhere online, be careful about the source. Unless you know what you are getting, you could be in for trouble. Don't try it without getting feedback on a trustworthy forum.
Good luck... I'd love to see a good Marshmallow rom
Yes
I rooted my k7 TMobile w kingroot and then used the wolfdroid method of removing the kingo superuser w terminal emulator and replacing it with superSu. I've actually had alot less problems w rooting than a y other phone. Problem is the factory recovery isn't a normal recovery and we'll probably never have a custom recovery or rom for the TMobile version atleast I heard that u can do it w metro pcs version. Even chainfires flashfire says they haven't been testing w lg so if anyone hears anything new I'd love to hear it
@paulyd9420
I'd like something minimal like superSU & was wondering about wolfdroid. Did you use the KingRoot page on wolfdroid.com? I'd like check out what worked for you.
Did you have any trouble with updating su binary?
I just picked up a K7 at my local T-Mobile store and have been trying to get it rooted with no luck. My first thought was my usual: Towelroot. when that didn't work I looked it up and saw that some people were having luck with kingroot. I've tried time and time again to root it and have yet to have any luck. Help?
KingRoot rooted my T-Mobile K7. I did have an issue when it ran. A message came up that said something like: KingRoot can't root this phone in the usual way, but there's alternative approach. Do you want to try it? Yes/No. (Lol.. not the exact words). I was worried but went ahead with it. It worked just fine.
I can't help beyond telling you that it does work with the T-Mobile model. Definitely try it again. If it doesn't work, you might try uninstalling & deleting your KR download-- then do a new DL, just in case. You probably already know, but be sure to install a root checker so you can verify the results.
Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can tell you more.
the su binary wasn't hard just use the terminal emulator and it does the rest. I'm really surprised that Noone has a recovery for this it can handle alot. What I'd like to know is why TMobile k7 doesn't have an actually stock recovery all it does is pull up a factory reset a dead Droid (where MetroPCS version had the recovery options) and a safe mode. And everytime I've mentioned this phone I never getta response. And I do realize it's an entry level phone but I watched ppl chase down all the grand prime versions even the 530az. Why not this phone? U][/U]

Quick update: After using KingRoot, I wanted SuperSU instead of having KR processes running in the background all the time. Tried Super-Sume (Google store). It wasn't free, but it did the trick & I'm a happy camper.
Can't say that I like some of the Android changes in the upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop, tho... especially having to deal with permissions every time I want to cut/paste/delete in storage. The emulated storage thing seems iffy, but maybe it has its benefits (?)

I read through the whole thread and see that you managed to root the tmobile lgk7. Props to you.
I too was able to root using Kingroot. My dilemma is upgrading from 5.1 to 6.0. I managed to fetch a rom claiming to be 6.0 for the k7 but cannot flash it for the likes of me.
if you have been able to since your rooting , how bout hitting me up?.

Help needed
I am on a TMOBILE variant LG K7 with Marshmallow. Can you help me root without losing my personal data? Do I have to flash a stock ROM first? I have flashed and rooted using Odin many times in the past, but want to make sure I don't screw this up since it is a friend's phone. Thanks so much.
Kevin
If ur on T-Mobile I did it w kingroot then use w0lfdr0id method on terminal emulator to replace kinguser. I've also been told that u can use superSume if u need that or any help pm me
KingRoot does work, it takes several tries and reboots but i got it to work and stick. I know it's frustrating but it will work with the T-Mobile LG K7 (K330) if you are using the newest version of KingRoot without the 5.1.1 "Security Update". If you have installed the update I cannot confirm it will work. The Software version K33010f is what I have. The update moves you to Software version K33010h.
I do not like KingUser, and I tried the Super-Sume app from the Play Store for $3.99. It said I didnt have KingRoot installed so it would not work. I don't know why, it seemed to work for others. I am stuck with KingUser for now.
I've downloaded kingroot directly onto my device and rooted my T-Mobile k7 that way.i did decide to unroot becuase I wanted to learn a little more about the benefits of the process etc. I don't have a computer to use at the moment but I'm thinking of rooting again. I've been told if you root you also need a custom recovery like TWRP. Is this true?

Good morning BigMoe1738,
I think that you should try Kingoroot App or iRoot (if you have a PC of course) to root your LG. I have rooted my own LG L3ii using iRoot, but I do not own the LG Ls755.
Please inform me if you try these methods.

I'm finding that the LG x Power is bullet proof. I have tried every kind of way to root it that I can find on the black mart to the internet and youtube. Nothing seems to want to work. The good news is the phone doesn't brick after a failed attempt. That is my experience only. It may freeze up but still can be turned off and back on again.
So I ask... Is there any working things out there?
I want to learn to code to make a way to root if someone wants to help me? Trying to get info to learn how and linux a computer.
Just got a system update from LG... Wondering if I should hold off on it as long as I can?
Such a sad strange sick world we live in where we have to knowingly attempt to make our mobile computers vulnerable to viruses just to have administrative rights to a system we bought and paid for...

Rooting work with FRP lock enabled?
Hi, I am trying to root my Lg X Power as well. However in preparation of this, I factory reset it, completely forgetting about the FRP.
So long story short, I need some sort of bypass for the FRP lock, or a way to root that doesn't care about the FRP being activated.
Hey I just found a post about it at another page, they claim it works on this model, as well as other versions of the X power, has anyone read about it or try it??

Here you go:
1) Obtain hammer
2) smash LG Phone
3) research, research, research
4) buy different phone with working root
In all seriousness, if you can take the phone back do so. LG phones do not root. If unable to return it, hopefully you at least got a good deal. Next time do the homework and buy something with a known root. The days of buying a phone and just rooting it with an all-in-one kit are over.

The reason it can't be rooted is because manufacturers and software developers are securing THEIR investment. By locking down devices it increases security measures against malicious attacks from outside sources and software and decreases the risk of consumers reporting vulnerabilities and attacks on their hardware and software due to end-user modification.
While we own the individual hardware with the software installed, we do not own the RIGHTS or LICENSE to the software and hardware. Therefore we cannot claim to be able to do whatever we want with the device just because it's in our pockets.
You want root? Get any Samsung, HTC, Pixel or older LG device. While the same rule above applies, people try harder on them because they are the most popular devices among users and the ecosystem between them is very similar and easily exploitable.
Aside from all that, root and rom developers don't really give many ****s about low-end, stupid cheap hardware anymore like they used to. *Insert related Metallica lyric here*

Yeah? Those some models have included the last three that I've purchased. Most of the time a root exists for some European model but not the US model so when I try to do my diligence and research it comes up as having a root method only for me to discover that the method does not actually work.
Your word games to the contrary I think the posts in this thread make it clear that LG phones do not have root. Much easier to write off LG than to keep wasting money on phones that don't actually root. Effectively LG phones do not root.

Hi,
I have the same phone. Lg-sp320 x-charge. On boost/sprint. I have a computer and i can use adb to push files and run a script. I don't know if i need to preform a permanent oem unlock for the bootloader. And im sure i can probably find, well i hope i could find an original firmware. Any help would be a godsend. Thanks.

Does anyone out there know how to root an Alcatel 3T tablet

I cant seem to find anything on this thing. My searches keep bringing up other Alcatel devices or the Oneplus 3T. I got this tablet from tmobile for free and I was only planning on using it to mirror in my cars android auto.
I have tried kingroot and the process just sits at 1%
Please let me know if you need any other tablet information.
its running android 8.1.0
model 9027W
If for some reason this cant be rooted does anyone have any cheap tablet suggestions that can be rooted easily?
I have tried every method suggested to root mine and nothing. There is an update that i need to charge tablet up so i can install and will attempt them all again. I am running a samsung SM-T357T that is rooted and twrp installed till I can root this tablet . Hope to be soon.

I would like to see this as well. T-mobile really locked this device down and even took away the built in call kit as it's VOLTE.
Would SP Flashtool work as it's a mediatek device ?
Likewise searching for a means to root my Alcatel 37 9027W. T-mobile seems to have modded the android 8.1.0. in such a way
making it impossible to remove or otherwise stop google news feed running constantly in the background.
Sure would be nice to root this puppy.
pls have anyone found a solution to root this phone?. i'm trying to unlock. but everytime i use sigmakey, once its get to 'unlocking', it shows phone servicing has stopped and the software exits its self. or do anyone know any other solution for unlock that does not include rooting?
Same!
Interested in a way to get rooted for the device.

This works but we need a custom recovery or rooted boot image.
I was able to get a permanent root through a link to a reply on that thread.
Follow the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...atek-armv8-t3922213/post79626434#post79626434
I haven't fully tested the extent of the root, but I was able to get a prompt, root checker confirmed root, and Magisk is reported as installed. Obviously this will not unlock the bootloader or allow for a custom recovery (that I know of) so we will have to wait until someone can get fastboot working on this device for that.
Concur. Root works!
I used this tablet today . Very slow and laggy. Defiantly needs a new rom. Has anybody been able to flash any modules through Magisk or remove any of the T-mobile bloat ?
Found this thread looking for a root method for my Joytab. I just disabled the "Modify system settings" and " Draw over other apps" settings for Smart Manager and my Joytab is definitely way less laggy. No root required.
no twrp for 3t8?
