Google Now with working Voice! Offline Version
I have taken it upon myself to port some good stuff over to our phone and thread. I hope to learn some things about apk modding and theming along with bringing some good mods that work on our phone to attention. These are originally done by other members and I take no credit beyond testing them and fixing any bugs needed for the port. I have made this thread to bring attention to the great mods/ports that will work on the Xperia S
There are some other threads on other forums for this (which is where I got my info), but I thought I would make a new thread on our forum to help people out and let them know it is working, and the way I installed it since there are several different methods.
original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
Here is how you install it.
download this if you have changed google search to something other than google-----> http://www.mediafire.com/?pbq5pou3in4mbsr
download this------->http://www.mediafire.com/?puszwfokw3d999u
flash the first one in CWM (only if you have changed the default search)
Reboot
flash the second in CWM.
Reboot
If there are any problems it could be root permissions, but it should work by default
Bugs
Sometimes the links are hard to click
Enjoy, I will update this as new versions come out.
I have imported a Huawei Mediapad Honor X1 from China. I have managed to set it to English and installed all the Google apps i need (or think i need because every time i want to use something specific i learn that some hidden Google app is needed to do the trick).
Because i do not want to reset everything to English when i reset to factory default i hoped i could find a custom rom with English as it's standard language and the playstore installed etc.
I did some hefty reading in this forum to find several things.
A) there are custom ROMs but these are work in progress;
B) there are official ROMs;
C) After i update from the stock image the DPI will change so some apps will not work and the UI will look horrible.
So based on these findings (if they are correct) i have some further questions.
1) Are there 'finished' custom ROMs that i could use?
2) Are there official custom ROMs that have English as their default language, have playstore installed and have the original DPI
3) Currently i have Build number 7D-503LV100R001C233B002 and kernel version 3.0.8-01316-gb959b08. Is there a reason to upgrade from this version? From what version will the DPI change
4) I notice that it looks like the GPS is lacking connection time (i noticed my weather app doesn't change location when i am in another city). An app like GPS tester shows that my GPS does work. So i think it has something to do with automatically checking for changes.
Does anybody knows if this is a known problem?

You could try updating to B006 or B007, which don't mess with the DPI and are still 4.2.2. I don't recall which one made the DPI change but you can read acuratslan's threads/;posts.
Root it and install Xposed framework to suit your taste.

The -505 error usually has something to do with a registry already existing for the app being downloaded.
On the lollipop builds, I've noticed that apps requiring superuser access tend to receive this error when they have been previously installed as a system app on a 4.4.4 build, and then an attempt is made to download again on a newly flashed 5.0/5.0.1 build.
You can see evidence of this, for example, when installing Viper4Android as a system app. I'll explain below using the following flow of events:
- User flashes 4.4.4 build
- User installs V4A as a system app (requires su access)
- An "Effect Profile" (EQ setup) is saved by the user once the app is installed so they can have their preferences conveniently stored
- The user decides to clean flash a new 5.0/5.0.1 ROM
- Upon reinstalling V4A with the newly flashed 5.0 ROM, the user will actually be able to load "Effect Profiles" saved from their 4.4.4 ROM.
What this shows is that certain kinds of data persist even when making major changes through ROM flashing.
The reason the -505 error doesn't come up for V4A when installing on a new 5.0 build is because essential elements to make the app run are not saved when flashing from 4.4.4 to 5.0
(An effect profile on V4A is not deemed "necessary" to running the program)
*However*
Some apps installed on 4.4.4 are configured for that particular OS when installed, and so, when a new 5.0 build is flashed, the program will not install.
This is because files were given access by su to the system files on 4.4.4, which sort of "tricks" the play store into thinking the app is already installed and has a directory.
I'm sorry for the long post, but I hope this helps people understand more as to why particular apps have this issue

HW Reset Lollipop Roms VS985
I am in need of expert assistance with these roms. lol. I have flashed several rom Variants over the last week and have not been very lucky. I flash Validus as a clean flash this morning. I have not altered any settings in performance for any rom I have downloaded. I have searched other threads but have not found an answer. I have gotten 3 times since flashing 8 hours ago the green screen Demigod HW reset error. And twice the black screen kernel crash. I did not experience this on skydragons rom but I have on illusion, liquidsmooth and my current rom Validus. I am pretty new to flashing on the LG G3 as my previous experience has been with HTC, and Samsungs. Is there something I am overlooking or could try. All rom installs have come from a clean flash. I did revert stock image back to 10b. Could this be my issue? I would appreciate any assistance.
Thanks in advance
After being in a app for a few minutes my nav buttons/softkeys lock up and take upwards of 10 clicks to register. I can reflash if that would help but I've already tried that once. Clean flash ofc.
This rom is running great. The only issue I'm having is when I connect to my Bluetooth speaker Pandora sounds awful. It does fine for phone calls in my truck but not with music. Any ideas?

Camera
Does this rom use the stock lg g3 camera apk?
Due to some unforeseen circumstances I have to take my phone from Verizon to T-Mobile. Everything I have read said this is in now way an issue the phone is unlocked and it has practically all the bands needed. My problem is the ROM wont let me set an APN. It let me add the T-Mobile APN when I had my Verizon SIM in but when I switched to the T-Mobile SIM all the APNs including the ones the ROM comes with, are gone. Adding a new APN and saving it does nothing it goes back to the APN menu and says APN Settings are not available to the user at this time or something to that effect. I really like this ROM just started using it instead of stock because I couldn't take the battery issues anymore. I don't want to have to switch to stock to make this work. Does anyone have any ideas?
unable to verify baseband
I am on the 06-07 build of this ROM. I was on the 05-23 build previously. I just tried to flash the latest build of 07-09 and it fails and says "unable to verify baseband..." I am not sure what to do next.
Hi there,
just installed Lollipop 5.1.1 on my GT-S8500 from here. It works really great and impressivly smooth!
Due to being very slim it misses some stock apks like calendar provider. I already asked within thread and also the OP - no response yet.
Is there rule of thumb / basic rule where to grab such apks from to late install them into own ROM?
Many thanks in advance!
Bye
At least for them ROM mentioned here I identified its origin by accident (opening an stock APK in ES Explorer showed the original ROM so I could google for it).
Is there another way to find out about origin of stock apks?
It is time to create a new thread to avoid the others from going fully out of control.
My kitchen is finally working fine again, the test firmwares so far function within my expections.
I don't really need much for my needs, meaning my personal firmware will be quite basic.
But I would like to also provide some nice firmware for those out there currently not considering to upgrade to the 7.2.x firmwares.
The basic idea is to have something ready to be flashed with TWRP to get a fully working and mostly already updated 7.1 with full root rights.
What shall go in in terms of stock or additional apps is up to you guys.
A filemanager? Name it...
Additional video player? Again, let me know which one is prefered.
Maybe something like HaLauncher to get easy access to the non TV apps?
Or shortcuts to launch them from the default launcher?
Ad blocker maybe?
Or some Magisk modules?
I think you got the basic idea!?
This type of thread is more suited in general/guides than a dev thread.. at least until custom rom links are available
Fair enough, I then first make one, then add what might be needed, then start again.
Well, then just remove or delete the topic until then I guess....
Can't seem to be able to do it myself, so please go ahead.
Will post again once the rom is done.
