Hi Devs!
I have been looking for a 7.0 permissive kernel for a while and was told the source code for the kernel was needed to create such a boot.img.
Here is the source code for A510FXXU4CQDL, which is a 7.0 firmware, that includes a kernel.tar.gz at http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=sm-a510fd.
I urge any Dev willing to help to use those file to recompile a boot.img with permissive mod.
Other changes to the kernel are not really necessary since stock kernel allows a reasonable battery life.
Thanks in advance.

ok heres my problem so far. i know howto compile kernel from source, and i've manage to compile one for my live walkman, but what i dont know is howto repack the compiled zImage with ramdisk?
on my previous device samsung galaxy ace i can use a perl script from here to repack and i know that the base parameter is 0x13600000 and pagesize is 4096.
so my question is:
1- is there any similar script that i can use te repack kernel for sony?
2- if theres none, can i use the said perl script by modifying base parameter and pagesize specifically for live walkman?
3- for live walkman, what is its kernel base parameter and pagesize?
4- i know that all of our current custom kernel had cwm recovery repacked as one with the kernel, and my guess is its in the ramdisk. so which file is the cwm recovery in the ramdisk?
thanks before
ummm anyone?
i cant give u any other help rather than this
"bump"
you can sms to Doomlord for helps, he's so kind
damn... still cant figure out why my kernel wont boot.
i'm following this thread to repack the ramdisk

I hope, this is okay for XDA...
I am only asking for kernels...
NOT for whole ROMs...
Maybe someone has working zImage of latest ZenDrokat for SD & NAND...
I Only have NAND kernel on Wave II...
Need also Kernels for SD and both for GT S8500...
If someon has these files pleas post here or PM me!
Thanks in advance!

I know Tigrouzen ROM's until now have not been GPL compliant (look here, here or here for example), but sharing this sources may allow XDA talk about it if it become GPL compliant:
Look at this from may 23th:
https://www.facebook.com/tigrouzen/posts/869017383124767
ICZen source 2.5GB compressed, 5GB uncompressed :
This is source not rom, you can modify and compile to make rom.
http://zendrokat.com/ICZen.tar.gz
Edit1: I am afraid it is not GPL compliant, It seems he is just focusing on new project
-- not all sources have been shared ...
- "Of course i don't give it for free," ...

If you are interesting from source & kernel pm me :
I make it 5GB full source and 2.4GB compressed, original source it is 20GB.
Support : 2 Weeks, also i support you if you need port Kitkat or Jelly Bean, explain how make it optimize.
Source ICS :
Ready to compile
Support if you have issue or need help and porting.
Very fast compile, 45min for my B960 2 core.
Rom file script :
Support for making it easy way and tweak
With last modification for make theme default.
Kernel source :
All script Nand, SD (bigmem...)
All tweak
Ready to compile, with bash script.
Recovery mode Integrated on kernel source :
I lost the source, but as you see it is complète
I added many thing on
Support for script making.
FBOOT : Multi boot source, like you can use it to boot under to 2 different rom with multi key code.
Kernel goes on 1 folder with 2 different name.
Example : boot ics kernel name : zIcs. Boot Kitkat kernel name zKitkat. Then with key holding you choose which rom you want boot.
I never do it because only support S8500
But it is work.
Of course i don't give it for free, there's more then 5 years experience work before making good kernel and good rom.
Ps : im on new project it is making file sharing next generation. zClouds...

Those are only ROM sources, but he says kernel sources will come later.
Can the Nand version of the kernel work on Badadroid, more specifically unofficial CM by volk? Can I just flash it or are there any other necessary steps? (Aside from the usual clear dalvik and cache)
Nope!
Tigrouzen's kernels are not compatible with volk204's ROMs.

Hey @Taxidriver05, Tigrouzen mentioned that you had broken video and asked me to give you zImage that makes the video work again.
here it is for Wave I (Nand)
http://speedy.sh/ppwBe/zImage
you'll also notice faster back button and recents window
Silkmeister1
But I need kernel for Wave II...
I know this is a bit scarce, but I need help with a kernel. Why? Because I unfortunately don't have a
computer at the moment (much less Ubuntu suite), just my trusty GT-i9505. Also, I have a few
questions.
First of all, this is the guide I am following:
[GUIDE] Use aircrack-ng on android phone using Wireless USB Adapter
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338179
This guide is aimed towards amateur kernel builders,
and the suggested ROM for use with this is Cyanogen Mod. Although, the post does mention that he was able to use his stock touchwiz ROM. He mentions he was able to do it with a few minor adjustments (along with the kernel and .md5 file):
I got this to work on my stock Samsung TouchWiz ROM by making a few adjustments:
- Get the kernel from Samsung: http://opensource.samsung.com/
- Change the lines in the .config file of the kernel below ## Samsung Rooting ... from =y to =n using nano
- To get boot.img, download the ...tar.md5 firmware matching your current firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/, rename .tar.md5 to .tar, and extract the boot.img. You cannot use mkbootimg here, only abootimg, as this boot.img has a special ramdisk address!

I would love to do this with my current TouchWiz ROM, (not stock) Samy Deluxe ROM- Operation Ivy
Any help/luck doing this? Thanks in advance
Bump
Bump. Let me also add that I can give the source to the kernel (of the ROM I have).
Really all that needs to be done is to rebuild that kernel (and follow the steps of course to the guide I'm using).
I have a TP Link tl-wn722n USB Wireless adapter, so I need to have the module/driver installed into that kernel.
The name of the kernel is 3.4.100-GoogyMax3_TW-v1.1.3
Here's the link to the kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2895862&d=1407942420
I downloaded my kernel and looked inside of the zip file and don't seem to find a ".config" file as mentioned in the guide, but did see a boot.img so I don't believe there's a need to download the .md5 file:

Bump... again...
Hi guys, I'm doing a Cyanogenmod 12.1 porting for my device that is unsupported. I can build everything and I get a flashable zip but I'm using a prebuilt stock kernel image extracted from the stock lollipop rom. After flashing, the phone does not boot and It's impossible even to access to logcat, so I think it's a kernel related issue. My question is:
- I have the stock kernel source (v.3.10) given by the vendor
- I have the cyanogenmod kernel source (v.2.69)
Do I have to build the stock kernel or I can build the cyanogenmod one by merging the drivers modules and others stuff?
And if I flash a wrong kernel image can my device become unusable?
I read that is not fair importing built kernel modules from other kernel version, but if I merge the kernel trees, is it the same?
Sorry in advance if my question is a noob question
Well I don't know much about porting roms or kernels though. But with what I've heard flashing the wrong kernels can permanently render your phone useless..

Linux Kernel 4.9 for Moto G5s
As you guys already know, our Moto G5s has an ancient linux kernel (3.18.x) which is now EOL (end of life) from support from actual Linux Foundation. It's pretty much stuck there with no probable updates to it (can use the android 3.18 for updates, but I think that's pretty much soon to be deprecated).
I have been working on this kernel since the past months and finally managed to boot it on our Montana!
WARNING: THIS KERNEL IS STILL ALPHA AND SOME BUGS HAVE STILL NOT BEEN FIXED.
I just wanted to share this kernel with the community!
What works:
Boots
Display
Touch
Storage
Charger
Battery Indication
USB
NFC
Sensors
Data transmission
WiFi
Bluetooth
Tethering
Fingerprint
Fast charging
Bugs:
Audio
Vibrations
Camera
Flashlight
Led diode
SDcard

That kernel is embedded with the zip image provided.
The OS image is tied to the compiled modules of this rom.
So, yes, you need this kernel that is provided with the OS zip to make it work. Don't try to zip another kernel over this zip image.

Yes, kernel is tied to this specyfic build. Its caused some API changes in 4.9 that conflict with regular builds
