Hi guys, I just got the Samsung Clear View Standing Cover and i have some issues with it. Put the phone in it, turned on the NFC and nothing happens... No accessories menu in settings, phone won't lock / unlock when closing / opening the case .... Did anybody else encountered this?
Same problem... this happens with non-original covers. You must download one of the apps that use the proximity sensor to detect the closure... Unfortunately I have failed to find other solutions...
Sent from my SM-G950F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
you used the wrong order.
you need to turn nfc on first, and then put on the case.

the case doesn't use nfc..?
indeed, but i had 1 time that my phone refused to detect the phone and that was when i attached the case while nfc was off.
after i turned on nfc and reattached the case it started working again.
i haven't been able to recreate this though.

Actually, all Samsung covers use a small NFC tag to identify the accessory being used. It makes it possible so that the Samsung Theme app recognizes the accessory and recommends matching themes and wallpapers.

I wonder whether I can use different magnetic closure case after its paired with the original Clear View case. I have beautiful genuine leather case with magnetic closure system with magnet located precisely at the same place as the original case's magnet is.
Hi,
i know the thread is a bit old but i got an not original clear view case for my s8 and
logically the hall sensor doesnt work cause of the lack of the NFC tag. So my question, is it possible
to copy the tag that resides in the original cover to an other nfc tag? Maybe anyone could try to read out
the original tag and post a raw dump.

HEY guys i just bought a g note 3 yesterday along with the official s-view cover.
The cover functions in the way as described, but when i fold the cover full towards the back for example i fold it when i text the phones goes in to the s-view mode (like when the cover is closed) note: the cover is still open and folded towards the back of the device.
I would like to know whether this problem is caused by the cover or the phones connectivity with the cover?
Thanks for your help in advance

I used to have a similar problem when I used that case. Instead of going into S-view mode like yours does, mine would do the opposite. When I closed the cover it would show my Home screen through the cover. It sorted itself out eventually. Not sure what causes this though. Sorry I can't really be of any help other than just wait it out, it will probably start working correctly eventually. Your not the only one who has had this kind of issue though.
You should send your cover back under warranty. It is a problem with a magnet on the bottom side of the flip, which in your case is probably too strong.
Don't hesitate, This is a known manufacture problem of a few exemplars, and does not happen in working ones.
Cheers,
K
My s view cover doens't stay shut in most cases. I close it and it opens again - in particular once I opened it completely. Is this normal or are the magnets not strong enough and I should have it exchanged?

Mine does this, too. Not exactly what I expected for that price. But it always closed enough so that s-view was active.

Their are no magnets to keep the case closed. The magnets are there to tell the phone when to enter/exit S-View mode. Case is a good idea, but with it not closing all the way, I took mine back. Waiting on the Spigen S-View case which has a clasp to keep the cover closed. Was just announced and has a shipment date of around the 1st of the year.
Hey guys,
I got myself a View Cover for my Note 3.
Now I've got a problem:
When completely opening the cover, so that the front view is on the back of my phone, the phone goes into the "cover is closed-mode", i got that square view and can go to camera and action-memos...
But i just wanted to use my phone normally,
Is it just me with that problem or has anyone the same problems?
phone is in "cover is closed-mode" when it's actually closed
phone is in normal mode when cover is opened
phone is in "cover is closed-mode" when it's flipped back completely
Thanks in advance!

I've got the same problem. I stopped using the s-view case because of it.
Some people say there were some defective batches where this was an issue (magnet too strong?), and others say they don't have the issue at all.
If you have the option, try exchanging it for a different one and see if you get better results.
I had the same thing happen as well. I let the company know and they gave me a new case. Hasn't happened since.
Are you guys talking about genuine S-View covers?
Because I get that sometimes on my cover, but it is a cheap chinese knock-off, so I don't mind it at all - it rarely happens anyway.
But I wouldn't accept that on a genuine Samsung cover.
I've tried another cover, too but the problem remained. I aswell am using some chinese knockoff, although it says samsung... But yeah, can someone tell me if the original view-cover got that problems?
Thanks for your replies!

Genuine Samsung s-view cover doesn't have this issue
I've got a genuine cover and I don't have this problem at all.
If its a knock off, good chance the magnet in the front of the case is too strong. I've noticed if I put a magnet up to the bottom left of the phone, this will trick it into thinking the cover is closed. Similarly if its done from the back of the phone, if the magnet is too strong it will trigger the same. not sure if theres something you can place in the back cover of the case to shield it?

First, thanks for your reply!
I will check if I can protect the back somehow.
But anyways, I am thinking of buying another view-cover because my phone won't recognize mine from time to time... Have to reattach it to get it back working.
Hello everybody,
My HTC M8 turns off as soon as I open my Flipcover all the way, so that the camera is covered ...
What kind of function ist this and you can turn them off?
the cover ist from Mediadevil, one can find it easy on amazon (i am not allowed to post links here yet)
- Magnet does not exist, so I've chosen this so that credit cards are not damaged
- It does not matter with other materials are covering the back of the phone, nothing has the effect described ...
Many Thanks!

Did you try to confirm the presence (or absence) of the magnet, such moving a paper clip close to the case and seeing if it "sticks" or you can feel a weak attraction?
I've seen cases on Amazon, where the magnet feature was not advertised, but it turned out the case did have a magnet. I have one such base for my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4.
I can't think of any other reason why the case would have the mentioned effect, when other materials do not.
Hi all,
I bought the smart window case for my z3 an at first it worked perfectly but now the window function has stopped working, when I press the on on button the screen displays the normal lockscreen instead of the square one that fits the window. At first I thought it was that it wasn't picking up the case however when i open the screen turns on like it's supposed to so I assume that the nfc chip in the phone and case are working; and to be sure I tested the chip in the phone using an app and got the all clear. I think the problem I have accidentally installed the app for the window-less case, which would explain why everything works except the window feature.
I figure the best thing to do is to uninstall the window-less case app and reinstall the correct, windowed one but I cant find it in the list. Does anyone know specifically what the name is for the case app/s?
Thanks,
Lachlan
Re-register the cover via NFC
The NFC chip in the cover and the chip in the phone does not align when the cover is mounted.
You need to remove the cover and reregister the cover to the phone, by aligning the NFC logo on the cover with the NFC cover on the back of your Z3.
Worked for me with the SCR24 cover.

I know you can get both cases separately (official S view) OR QI/NFC back cover, but I am unable to find a combined on ebay. And my attempts to install the s-view chip onto the qi\nfc coil\chip have failed thus far.
Now my NOte 3 wont even return to working pain S-View. I have ruined the magnetic flip sensor thingy mcjob, or the pins arent connecting.
What is the best way to test to see if the chips are connected\detected on an s-view case? installed a few "hardware info" apps and all they seem to show is that magnetic sensor certainly detects magnetic changes when flipping an s-view case, yet samsung s-view UI dioes not get triggered.

I realize this was posted a while ago, but in the spirit of information, I experimented and with a magnet you can find the small magnet in the sview cover, and you can also check if it triggers the sview action by passing the small magnet in the vicinity of the lower left hand side of the screen. The nfc is built into the battery, and some sview covers have wireless charging function, which will be apparent if you find two gold colored contacts inside the back which sit to the side of where the battery sits. for as small as the magnet in the cover is, if it's misaligned it may not trigger the action. also neodymium permanently lose there magnetism if exposed to too high heat, and although relatively low, I would think it would melt the cover before doing so. If one is doing some sloppy madding though, it could happen. I would check the software side of the problem, make sure the funtion is enabled. If running custom rom, check that the function is available.
Something I am still trying to figure out myself is how the wireless charging works, I have an s view cover with the wireless charging circuit and I have a cheap qi charger. I also have a wireless charging reciever I pull out of another battery cover I thing from a note 3 but I don't remember. Its contacts line up correctly with mine, but it also has two more contacts that line up with the other ones which I assume are for nfc, because the look to be attached to a separate coil antenna. With the charger powered, nothing happens when I put the note on it. If I put the unit from the other cover it it, it start the charging cycle. if I put that unit onto my note and hold it in place with the stock plain battery cover it still works, and the phone indicates that its charging. Put the svirw cover back on, nothing.maybe I'll start another thread on that questiion.
