RAW photo capture? - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I have a question...
Is there a possibility for OnePlus X to shoot RAW? I heard official Camera app from OnePlus should be able to do it.
However I am using CM13 (which should even have camera2 if i am not mistaken) and I cannot shoot RAW. The only thing I can shoot now is HDR (which is neat, but raw is raw for me as a photographer and I don't my carry camera with me everywhere).
Could it be because I am using Sultan's HAL (although I installed HAL switcher correctly)?
Thanks for any advice and help!
Also I cannot go to lineage as I use xposed framework on a daily basis

The camera supports deviating forms of the RAW format... All of which are digitally processed. You are not going to get true RAW photographs out of the camera

Someone worked on that and .dng were produced, but they were to much regressions to use it. Manuals controls out, some artefacts...

[Q] Camera RAW image capture?

Looking for a RAW capture with Android camera.
I am trying with Xperia X10 camera to capture RAW image, now it has got Android 2.3.3 and APIs are available.
Couldn't get it though.... Can anybody shed a light on it?
Also, is there any API or lib or .so which I can play around... I promise I will share all my knowledge here
Thanks in advance.
I second this request I would also like to shoot raw photos on my droid. I dont like JPG its an awful format.
I think it is related to camera hardware and not software. As I know, only one windows mobile phone from HTC can shoot and save as raw.
If you want to have a better quality, you can increase the image quality or just keep it as 100% original in media_profile.xml
Accidentally sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Its likely a low level driver thing. Which like modems, the manufacturers don't release the source for.
+1 on this.
shooting raw will be a super feature for photography savvy users.
especially that almost all in-phone processings are extremely suck.
Raw capture is availible on micromax a90s android 4.2.2 in engineering mode
Has there been any update on this. I see heaps of articles of google announcing this but thought itd be out now.

As far as i know, only android lolipop has the ability to capture raw images. You have to upgrade to android 5.0 to capture raw image from your phone's camera. Its android Lcamera. It is an experimental app and will work fine if the hardware of our camera supports all the functions of camera.

Camera RAW

Since 5.x or at least the google camera app, is suppose to support camera raw mode (DNG files), does
anyone know if it will work with the Mate2, with the LL update?

camera2api enable

Hello
I'm trying to enable camera2api on my redmi 3 pro with lineage os 14.1.
I have correctly edited the file build.prop with persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1 but when i try to test with the app "manual camera test" i have the message "your device doesn't support....."
What can i do?
Thanks
Try installing a module for magisk called Camera2Api - it fixed an issue with lack of support in app permissions as for me but there's still a problem with apps that stop working after few tries and you gotta restart your device so it's better to just use FV-5 Camera and rice up the HAL to fake support.

I think what he wants is HDR+ or just the quality of an image improvment.

oh .. i see ...
Snap 616 doesn't have any camera2api/hal3 driver in existence. No way you can use gcam. Not a single rom, even android Q won't help in this situation.

With one custom kernel I managed to get the gcam working on 14.1 so your argument may be false as of HDR+ was supported as well as RAW capture.

If the app launches, it doesn't mean the functionality is working. IDK about raw, but the HDR+ I managed to get in gcam on custom roms was just a regular photo (same quality and same size)
Why just not use HAL Switcher instead?

Photography RAW on Lollipop

Hi;
I have Meizu MX4 Pro, Android 5.1..1; Flyme 6.2.0.0G.
Main camera is Sony 20.7 MP. There are some conflicting articles about the Android version, which should support RAW photography, and at the other side, lack of RAW photography support from Meizu side.
The must for the RAW photography on android is the OS version 5.0 Lollipop and camera2 API. It seems that Lollipop is not the same, standardized for all phones, some have camera2 API, some not.
Have to ask if anybody had use RAW photography with this phone / camera - is it possible to upgrade the system to get the feature working?
Thank you.

gcam or anx?

is gcam really better than anx ?
I'd say both. I use gcam for photos and anx for video.
For picture, no one can beat gcam, im little more advance photographer and use raw pictures which anx doesn't provide and more over even if i don't to process raw images, stock image are way better than anx, but when to chimes to video, gcam doesn't perform well on non-ois devices, similarly poco is exceptional. Video quality again better than anx but its not stable so that's why i use anx for video. And i usually i like the 2.2:1 video size thats why i am using for filmic pro for serious shoots and then i stable the video with Google's photos app. It works for me. Thanks
