It's not simple to have custom rom on it, Sony provides only the Kernel sources. To build a rom we need the "device tree" and "vendor tree" too. On XA I'm trying to build missing trees from scratch.
We appreciate everyone who is striving to make this device live longer

That, and my carrier locking my bootloader, is what pisses me off with my XAU.. this is my first Sony device ever, and might probably be my last..
Odd, but my other MTK phones have better development. My Jiayu G3 and Neo M1 have lots of ROMs back then. Maybe to much SOC fragmentation from Sony perhaps?

Yes, there are no stable ROMs right now
Who know why there are no ROMs, maybe developer motivation, Sony support, few developers...
The best way to help the developers it's test and test their ROMs, the support will improve the ROMs obviously
I cant test it because I need the phone and I cant wipe it each time or change the ROMs
Even some developers does not have the phone to test it directly
So dont expect much from a new ROM... just test...
thank you. i hope its just moral. unlocking bootloader is problem for us because there isnt any good rom / there isnt any good rom because people worry about unlocking bootloader for warranty. but for example there is so many good roms for neo v or ray etc.

i don't think relocking the bootloader can supoort warranty. because we give our imei numbers sony for unlocking bootloaders. they can see. but some of 2011 xperias can be unlocked from hardware like neo v.
The rom I'm waiting for is cm9 or aokp... Seriously when!?!?

I would be cautious about any root that requires bootloader to be unlocked first as you will loose drm keys. Consequences may not show up until later, I am speaking from experience with Z Ultra GPe that ended up with nonfunctional camera after 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 updates. It has been fixed in custom roms but no solution to restore camera on stock roms has been found.
we need to ask developer like DoomLord to give us a hand and to contribute to help him or any one else on getting this thing rooted asap
Bla Bla:
I have recently bought this device. The hardware seems to be all nice but software, not so good. There are tons of improvements that need to be done on the software end. I have been waiting for someone else to take an initiative up until now, but it seems everyone else has been doing the same thing and as the device is new int he market, the XDA Threads have been practically dead and they are going to stay like that if noone starts working. So, lets tickle this lady.
What We Need:
Its obvious, but I will state that anyway.
Root and Recovery
Locked Bootloader
Unlocked Bootloader
Kernel
Repacked (With Custom Ramdisk including Recovery, Disable RIC, Insecure ADB, A few Tweaks, etc.)
Compiled (Need sources for that, so lets put this on hold for now)
ROM
Stock (Rooted, Recovery, Tweaked, Optmized, Debloated, Deodexed)
Custom (Something Like This)
Progress:
Obviously, it must be a Top to Bottom approach, but I am an idiot, so, I am following Bottom to Top, actually because thats my forte and I need help with others.
Root and Recovery
Locked
Unlocked
Kernel
Repacked
Compiled
ROM
Stock (Done)
Custom (Halfway Done)
So, folks lets join hands together and start this thing. I welcome all Developers, Beginners, Contributors, Reviewers, Haters, Bullies, Killers, simply anyone and everyone who is willing to help.
I am so happy to see someone actually do custom ROM for this device. I love Sony and I love this phone so much !
Finally there is hope coming.
Thank you so much for developing here......:laugh::laugh::laugh:
I am building for the xperia c4. May I ask where you unlocked the bootloader? Because as far as i remember, you need to unlock the loader for a custom recovery on sony phones. Right?
So far for me the main issue with this phone is high ram usage despite having very few apps installed. Even when closing all apps after use free ram is between 500-600mb. At times ram is under 500mb free and nothing is open.
Ram management is quite an important aspect which needs improvement...
There is also a slight delay when waking the device for some reason...
Also it would be great if we can get stereo speakers working on the device. The upper earpiece is fairly large and should give us decent sound to go with the lower speaker...

Unlocking bootloader isnt always necessarry... If you have root you sometimes can hack the init process... For example look at Xperia L recovery for locked bootloader...
Its mostly something like store the recovery ramdisk as a img file in internal storage... And while init process it gets unpacked and replaces ramdisk

If someone can send him a C5 Ultra or at least log from C5 Ultra , thing will go smoother.

Hi,
1. Generally less than a week but as you probably know Sony removed the last firmware so kernel sources release will probably be canceled too for this firmware.
2. No you can't it's not the same kernel like you can't use XA sources to build XA Ultra kernel.

You have to build the kernel from sources, edit the ramdisk of the stock boot and replace the stock kernel with the one built from sources in the boot and TWRP.

How is that even possible that a device is NON-unlockable? Excuse my ignorance, it is my first time trying to install a custom ROM on an android device. Do you mean non-unlockable? Unlockable means you can unlock the bootloader, which is required for installing LineageOS.

That was an error induced by rage and the double negative of "non-un-lockable" that confused my pissed mind even more.
