Back to stock - Moto Z Questions & Answers

I'm currently using official LineageOS but I'm looking to go back to stock.
What's the most up to date stock image available? Is there any way to flash it using twrp?
Thank you!

No twrp, you have to use fastboot.

Yeah, just unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. I recommend TWRP since it's more touch orientated (designed better) than ClockworkMod. Then download a ROM and follow instructions.
For those that have flashed Int. ROMs and have TWRP, did you use dumlock or flash the boot.img in fastboot? If anyone has used dumlock, can you write up how you used to get a good flash? I am coming from Sammy, so all of this is very new to me and I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks.

So you just flashed in recovery like normal? Nothing else?
This phone is super confusing, keep reading about flashing a boot.img before flashing a ROM or using dumlock. Can not find a straight answer to what I need to do to go from rooted stock to a ROM.

As usual HTC left off some security on the released version of this phone's HBOOT.
The One X on AT&T was like this too when it first came out. We could even flash RADIOS on that thing.
I am pretty sure the discovery that you can flash boot.img from recovery is pretty new.

Root SM-G925F

I've a little Question.
I want to root my Phone. I've installed latest official Marshmallow update (G925FXXU3DPDP) and don't know what's the way to root. The cf-autoroot from File Chainfire is different from my current Buildnumber.
I saw a Video from "Highonandroid" in that he first flashed the SpaceX Kernel and then the Twrp, does this work?
One more Question: When i flashed Twrp and want to install a 5.1.1 over the Official Marshmallow, do i get a bootloop then?
Sorry for the Questions, but i am new at this and don't want to do anything wrong
Flash twrp as in original android development section. Then flash supersu.zip.
And no 5.1.1 rom on MM booloader.

Doesn't matter if the build numbers aren't exactly the same. As long as your device is g925f zeroltexx the root will work fine.
I have 6.0.1 g925f and i used cf autoroot a few days ago and no issues or errors

Yeah you can use flashify to flash your roms and zips. Make sure you make backups first though of your kernel and recovery. Just incase.

I want to flash to CM13 but I am at Lollipop and rooted with TWRP

I saw a same thread but i am using KII-L22
what should i do first? i think i had a backup where i am still unrooted but already have TWRP.
my guess is that I should reflash to stock recovery first then update via OTA to marsh mallow then root and install TWRP again then flash CM13.
if my guess is correct then how do I revert from TWRP to stock recovery?

Grab the stock recovery of KII-L22 and flash it using fastboot. Same way you flashed TWRP.

Do you have a firmware online on Huawei website or in 5X file repository.
If yes, just use huawei update extractor to extract stock recovery.img from it.
That's it! Search for any KII-L22 stock firmware then extract the stock recovery from it.

will it work even if the stock rom is from MM not Lollipop? can't seem to find the Lollipop version.
if its compatible then this will make it easier since ill use the full stock rom after flashing the recovery

Just google huawei firmware finder by team MT, install and I am sure you can use it to search a lollipop firmware for your phone.
If you want to install MM directly then get MM firmware, extract recovery, flash it and use three button method to update.
You will lose all your data in this way.

I have a similar problem here: I have an unlocked and rooted KIW-L21C432 with Resurrection Remix installed and a backup (B140 firmware version) where I already have TWRP installed as the recovery but am not rooted yet. I want to go back to stock in order to be able ro get the OTA for MM and then install the most recent Resurrection Remix ROM.

So, what would be the procedure for me?
Flash the (unrooted) B140 backup using TWRP.
Use fastboot to flash the correct stock recovery from the honor 5X file depot issueing:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
.
Upgrade to the most recent firmware version B340 via OTA update.
Flash most recent TWRP version using fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_kiwi.img
.
Root and flash CustomROM.
Is this correct? Is there any smarter way to achieve the official update to MM (like those full revert packages I read about)?
What if my backup was rooted already? Would this lead to any problems? I am not 100% sure whether I was maybe already rooted when I did the initial backup :/
Thanks and best regards

How exaxtly can I tell? It was rooted when I was still on 5.1.1 (firmware version B140), so I'm not sure whether it's systemless root or not.
Then flash full B330:
http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=90763&version=354362&siteCode=fr-h
Put the (uncompressed) DLOAD folder at the root of your SD Card.
Power up the phone with Vol up & vol down pressed, then release once you show the logo, it will automatically flash the rom.
Once done, you are on stock unrooted B330, then you can boot/flash TWRP, then finally flash CM13.

a little doubt regarding b360

i am now on b360 with stock recovery,
so now, if i install twrp and xposed, will it work?
if i works, can i be able to go back to any custom rom?
or if i be able to restore twrp backups?
because,i heard that once you get on b360, one can never run any custom rom , neither restore a twrp backup..so if i now install twrp, then i wont be able to downgrade or restore or boot to any custom rom, them i will mostly have to be sticking on the same b360 forever?

Its not like that.
You cannot boot to any custom ROM. That's it.
But you can restore TWRP backup (or) Flash the older version.
If you are from India, then you can flash the new B370 from 360 now.

If you flash any ROM in twrp it will erase twrp (except syberiaOS which comes with a prebuilt twrp)
