Hello everyone.
A few months ago my Korean Samsung Note 1 (SHV-E160S) bricked while updating an application. I left the phone as it updated an application over wifi. When I came back the screen was black. I pulled the battery and after that the phone would not fully boot. It would go into download and recovery mode only.
I have flashed (using Odin) the original firmware downloaded from various different websites. Every time however the loading bar would get to around 80-90% and would fail. When I power the phone up after the fail it would show a yellow triangle with Korean text stating that the upgrade was not completed and please connect to Kies. No access to download or recovery. I have tried restoring through Kies but Kies does not recognize the phone.
I have tried flashing all the different versions of original firmware(for SHV-E160S) I could find(as I do not know the version of the firmware that was on the phone before it bricked). I have also tried 4 different computers, 3 different USB cables, many different USB ports and multiple versions of Odin. Always fail.
I have even tried a suggestion to flash using the PIT file after flashing the PDA file. When I do that the Samsung screen comes up with the blue loading bar but the loading sometimes gets stuck or the phone reboots. But I do have access to download and recovery when using the PIT file.
This phone has caused me much stress. I am at the point I should just buy a new phone as I have already spent many hours trying to revive this phone.
Please if someone has any other suggestions I would appreciate it very much.
Hope this helps

You have to use quincyatt roms for you phone, im guessing you have a sgh-i717 att, tmobile,Rogers,Fido, or Telus ?
never use a korean rom on these phones because there for our phones. I've tried this rom and it didnt work so I had to pull out the battery and go to recovery mode and flash it to my rom I used before.
As for trying to flash your phone back to stock, if odin isnt working, use the flashable zip and flash it through twrp or cwm.
Hope this helps
- Cheers
Actually as stated in my post I am using the Korean Note SHV-E160s.
I am downloading a custom rom called SayanogenMod and also CWM and will see what happens.

No problem. I'm actually thinking of getting a Galaxsy S5 soon if I can't fix the note.
So the Sayanogen did not work. CWM does the same thing that Odin does. It gets to like 90% and then the screen just goes black and stays that way until I pull the battery. Then after reboot the phone freezes on blue bar loading screen...
This is so frustrating....

Oh snap that sucks, the same thing happened to me and I got it fixed by using odin.
Some times it can be the usb port. If you do want another Samsung note 1, you can try buying it off ebay, really cheap.
Alright, I screwed up my phone. I was trying to root it, and this morning when it said everything passed and I was restarting my phone, where the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge screen and at the bottom it says powered by android....DOESN'T GO AWAY. It just stays there on that screen. So, I downloaded the stock firmware for the Canadian Bell S6 Edge cellphone, and tried to flash the old system back on my phone and the error message comes up: SW REV. CHECK FAIL DEVICE 4 BINARY 2
I have no idea what that means, I cannot find a reason on the internet.
I do not know how to fix my phone back to stock everything.
I am losing it, everything has been going wrong!!!
Can anyone please guide me how to fix it.....if at all possible. I know just a couple of things, I am not cellphone savvy at all. I really don't think I am ever gonna root my phone ever again. lol

Hey! I'm having the same problem with my SM-G925I. Did you find a solution?
I've already try with multiples firmwares and smart switch. I still can't boot into the recovery, not even when I flash a twrp recovery.

Can you get on to the phone?
The phone keeps rebooting every time it shows Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, powered by Android. Also, in red, it says RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING. I've downloaded and flash a couples of firmwares from sammobile and flash twrp recovery, but it keeps doing the same thing and I still can't boot into recovery.
pd: sorry for my bad english,

Try to flash unikernel through odin.
Hello all,
Hope all is well with everyone.
My phone decided to freeze on me and gave it a force reboot since then it's stuck on the boot logo. I can't turn it off unless the battery is drained and I can't turn it on (via power button), unless booting in Download Mode.
Now, download mode is the mode my phone can boot in and I know that I have to re-flash the stock-rom on my phone in order for it to work.
I gave that a try but a message on my phone pops up after having initiated the flash in Odin saying: ''SW REV, CHECK FAIL, DEVICE 3, BINARY 2'' and if I try a different PDA it reads: SECURITY CHECK: BOOTLOADER
Since this plan didn't work, I tried flashing a TWRP recovery on my phone. But after having tried that a message on my phone pops up proudly saying: ''Blocked by FRP Lock'' - which I found out I can only disable once I have full access to the settings on my phone - which requires a successful boot.
It's quite frustrating because I never had a problem with my phone and this issue occurred right after I updated my phone with the latest security update that Samsung pushed to my device.
Can somebody help me please?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you. However I already tried that one. After multiple attempts, the phone remains stuck on the ''Galaxy S6 Edge+'' screen and won't continue.
I already had the feeling that this may be a hardware malfunction.
I bricked my phone and tried recovering it via Smart Switch - as a last resort - SW successfully installed the stock firmware on my phone but whilst rebooting, it remains stuck on the ''Galaxy S6 Edge+'' screen.
I think my phone is officially dead and that after the new update? Crazy if you think about it.

It isn't bricked otherwise it wouldn't even get to the Samsung logo mate.

Before you give up try this BTU firmware. It is generally good at fixing this.

I was able to see the logo before I bricked it.
Whilst the phone was bricked, the logo was not visible but a turquoise screen with an exclamation logo informing me the instructions to recover the phone via Smart Switch.
I will give the BTU firmware a try. Thank you.

Still won't work - It remains stuck on the Galaxy s6 edge + logo after flashing.
Download mode is the only feature that I'm able to access - Recovery mode or booting up the OS? Not a chance.
Rooting and/ or flashing new recovery gets blocked by FRP Lock and Bootloader.
I have seriously no idea what to do now.

You have G928F = that means your bootloader is unlocked by default.
Search on here there are ways to remove the frp lock easily.
Have you tried any other firmware?

I know that, I've noted that down in my first post on this thread. The thing is however is that I DON'T have access to my OS - which ultimately makes me unable to disable FRP lock.
By trying another firmware I get the Sw rev, check fail, device 3, binary 2
- Trying the Europe firmware - whether it is BTU (UK) or PHN (Netherlands) - the flashing WORKS but it won't boot up past the Logo screen - it remains stuck.
The only feature if have access to and works perfectly is the download mode.

Sw rev, check fail, device 3, binary 2. This isnt really an error message and shouldnt affect anything. When you flash the BTU or PHN firmware and it gets stuck on logo screen... how long are you leaving it like that? I ask because the first boot can take a while.
You can always try the DDE firmware from sam mobile. You may also neet a pit file with it too.

Is it stuck on the "powered by android screen" or the next screen the "samsung" logo?
Thats strange because if all else fails smart switch would normally fix it.
I have been talking to 2 people over the past week who have the same issue but on just s6 edge not the plus.

It's stuck on the ''Powered by Android'' logo.
This same issue reminded me of my Galaxy s2 back in the day - same with my current Edge+ - it stuttered, froze, rebooted itself a couple of times and it completely died. Couldn't do anything anymore.
These same symptoms happened with my Edge+ recently, but I can access download mode and it restarts but remains stuck on the logo screen.

I have the G928F and I also had the "custom binary blocked by frp lock" in red, which didn't allow me to boot. To fix this, I had flashed the newest stock Rom I could, and this had fixed my issue. But just yesterday I decided to unroot via the SU app, and it had asked me to restore stock boot image and recovery image. I did this but it had left me in a boot loop. I could enter recovery mode and download mode too. So I tried a factory reset. No help. Now instead of looping it would take me straight to recovery. Like every person at this point would've done, I tried to flash stock Rom, but I keep getting the "sw rev check fail" error. So I 're rooted the phone via odin and voila! I was back up and running and my phone works perfectly fine. You could try this, I know I'm a year late but oh well. Hope this helps!

Hi,
Just wondered how you manage to 're root the phone if FRP lock is on?
When I've tried, the FRP has blocked the custom rom. I've tried downgrading and current stock versions of android but not had any luck. I'm able to flash everything except the BL, no matter what version.
I've been trying all kinds of ideas on here for days now so any suggestions would be welcome.

Ahh if you're flashing current that's why. You need to flash the newest version of Android there is. The latest for the G928F was in February. Flash that and see if you have any errors.

Have you flashed a stock firmware?
I have similar issue with my phone after I updated to Android 7.0. It is at the Samsung service center now. Last update they shared - they have found manufacturing defect in my phone(2 year old phone). The problem is they also found that my charging port and screen is physically damaged and unless I pay them 300 AUD, they will not fix anything. I would like to assume my phone is gone. Any help will be highly appreciated.
I kindly request members of this community to help me with this issue.
My S7 Edge Model: SM-G935FD keeps restarting randomly . I have tried to fix it in all way that i could.
My phone is not rooted . As my last resort i tried flashing stock rom using odin. When i get into android recovery mode" No command " is shown.
Pls kindly help me resolve this problem.
you didn't mention it flashed normally till the end or there was some kind of error, What you should do is get to download mode and verify if it's indeed model g935fd because sometimes it's different from what is in "about device" and also check the security level and download a stock firmware accordingly from Sammobile or somewhere, do a factory reset from recovery then flash with odin. that should do unless it's a hardware issue.
The model is correct. And i did download stock rom and flashed through odin.
I had done factory resets a couple of times too.
What made u think that it is a hardware issue ?
Isnt there any way that i can diagnose this ?

when you are in download mode, check the model in the upper left corner..
i said it can be a hardware problem because sometimes when the flash memory is corrupt that happens, does it get very hot when it's rebooting (left side of the back camera), but it still can be a software try flash another firmware (latest possible ) if it doesn't work try again with pit file
