Hello
I was about to unlock my z2's bootloader but a friend of mine told me that some of the camera firmware will be lost causing camera quality to be dropped especially in low light shooting
Is that true?
What are the risks of unlocking besides losing warranty?
Thanks in advance
Loosing DRM features such as BionX, X-Reality, etc...
But however, there's something called DRM fix which you can restore most of the features back as long as you are on stock based ROMs.

And most stock based roms work with LB
So no need to it I guess?

Unlocking bootloader allow you to access a much vast amount of tools and it speed up processes that usually take a very complex procedure to carry out when bootloader is locked.

Another Silly Billy.
Hmmm. Should be pretty easy to answer that.
Step 1) Go to XDA SE Xperia arc forum. From there, go to the Xperia arc Themes and Apps sub-forum.
Step 2) Find a theme you like.
Step 3) Read the instructions in the FIRST POST. (Fancy that, the OP gave the info in the first thread itself. It's a miracle!)
Step 4) Download the theme.
Step 5) Follow the instructions given to the T.
And now you can thank me for such a helpful post. LOL!
Umm... maybe he talks about a theme (You know, theme like Onyx, Fluorite, etc) in new firmware?

Then maybe they should state that.
Are there any new themes, or any tutorials on how to make them, for the new firmware yet?

Ok, anyone else then? Any new SE themes for the new firmware, or any info on how to make one?
Not that I don't like the Onyx one, but it would be nice to have others too.

If you are on the new fw then there are several built in. AFAIK you cannot add new ones yet.
Either use one of the built in ones or use your eyes and scan this board for themes, there are a few for the newest fw.
You just need root and something to copy the files over.
This is the problem, my boot-lock piece of ****, can not gain access to the new firmware(no Root), so i cant update, well i could i update it, but i wont be able to use it lol.
I think a lot of people are in the same heart-breaking situation as i am.

Hahahaha. He got you there mate.
Evasiveness is fun.
Seriously though, I am just used to the theme whereby you have to force it in, as opposed to the new 'themes' Sony have provided. Not really themes though are they, bit of a half arsed attempt.
can i just go and hit like "repair" and i will be stock? THX and also if its not possible how to flash it using flashtool? i fear i brick this thing

Sorry for your loss mate let it all go,talking with someone will help you lot mate ,helped me lot when my best buddy from like 4 years old,who was/is like my own brother died few years ago due to appendicitis :/
on-topic,yeah lot of times I use pc companions repair button to go back to stock rom whenever I screw up with roms.Tho now I don't use it as it shows 0.62 update in pc companion.Anyway if used SETool2 method to unlock bl we can use pc companion without any problem(tested and works for me).As I heard if used Sony official method you cannot, but re-locking bl again and you can.Not sure about S1tool method-someone need to confirm about this.
I'm wondering if anyone has any video of them using a jellybean rom that has recently been made available?
You could just try one .

I know, but I have some fears with rooting and flashing roms. If I mess up my phone, I don't know if I'd have the money to get a new one for a while.

The only way you could hard brick your phone is if your s off and you mess with your hboot or radios.
The rest can always be fixed.

Thanks for the assurance. I'll have to look into rooting a little more to get a better idea of what to do.

Things to search for (xda or Google)
- HTC dev Site for unlocking bootloader
- hasoon2000's All in one toolkit (for unlocking, flashing recovery)
- ICS RUU for updating firmware. If you are on gingerbread firmware, you will need to update

i was scared at first as well with rooting and it took myself a while to convince my brain to do it. but like mentioned above, you cant break your phone unless you s-off, and once you learn how to flash regularly, you wont have any worries of breaking anything

Check the CDA code of your device and look it up in XperiFirm, in that way you should know your carrier.
