So, looking for an app that would make shortcuts to apps but you're able to change what they look like. A bit like UCCW but with apps? Hard to explain, but if someone gets what i mean then is there an app for it?

hey guys. is it possible to hide the status bar from the lockscreen? I'm good with .xml, .smali or any other kind of edit. i just need to be pointed to where I would need to go.
I tried searching and came up empty handed. i'm trying hard to like the lock screen. i already changed the backgrounds (much better now), currently working on a custom lockring, last thing would be to hide that ugly status bar...it's only showing me what the lockscreen already shows anyways.
thanks for the info.
Download the app Widget Locker...U can remove taskbar and also a lot of customization to your style
I'm a big WidgetLocker fan, with my own custom themes made and all that when i was on the Evo 3D. i'm trying to move on with the times and use this nifty sense lockscreen. just has a few kinks to work out.
but if i dont end up fixing it to my liking soon enough i'll download widgetlocker again.
anyone else have any ideas as to how to get this done?
If you go into titanium backup, and freeze statusbar, it will do what you want, it will also remove in regular screen, possibly decompile lockscreen.apk and see if you can do it there.

that is not what I want to do at all. I don't want to make the status bar unavailable everywhere in the system. just within the lockscreen.
if I knew where to go, I can make .xml and .smali edits or whatever else. I just don't know how to search for things from scratch :-(

I'm just guessing, so this could be a useless thought, but... I think checking in idlescreen base would be a good start. You wouldn't probably want to mess with this in system UI because that would likely just hose the whole bar. Team d3rp seems to have maybe figured out making the bar transparent, which would leave the icons and if course be clear everywhere else too... but it's still finicky across the roms, so not quite done yet. pstevep is the man, and maybe could help? See what you can find and then maybe send him a pm.
bumpity bumb
bump, bump, bumpity bump.
any way to do this?
i would say edit lockscreen.apk (decompile and fish around) and also look in a androidpolicy.jar probably some lines of code your could remove/add to make it happen.
clever idea by the way. i am still trying to resolve issues with my idea of clearing notifications from the lockscreen by double tapping the home key. had it figured out for a little bit but it was causing apps to force close :/
again i like your idea... i probably wouldn't use it myself simply because i wouldnt be able to see important details or notifications etc without unlocking the phone
Bump

try some launchers
launcher only will "remove" that buble corner from your homescreen, not from dial screen. that you need to install an apps like fullscreencaller or that kind of app.
Good afternoon!
I have exactly the same question. How to remove this ugly picture? It's bugging me for some time. What were the developers thinking when they create such things? For f****s sake it is a 16M color display, with HD support? And to look at this UGLY out of resolution default caller id?
Is there a way maybe to modify framework?

oh, right, my bad
this file should be in framework. but when i searched there is no file like this. must be some translucent png so i didn't found. just find that file and replace it with any same dimensional file or full transparent png
You should install cm7 instead, them you can change both the call screen and the incoming call screen to a couple of different alternatives
Sent from my ST15i using xda premium
Sorry for reviving this old thread, but couldn't find the answer else where.
So, did any one figure out how to remove that useless back ground picture in contacts or replace with a different grahic or something ?
I tried to search for an app (like FullScreenCallerId for Symbian) that does that, but couldn't find one.
Thanks.
All you need to do is change callhandling_contact_picture_default.png in SemcPhone.apk. Either try to do something artistic or do what I did and just make it transparent.
Hi, as we all know androids notification is quite great. Apple however took this concept and in my opinion improved it. Many developer also seemd to like it and there are many apps on cydia that offers some customization.
What I'm looking for is an app or any way really that lets you customize the drop down window.
I'd like to b able to change wallpaper, change color of text, add widgets and info for fast updates.
I have spent many hours googling but I cant find anything like this. Is there any way to do this or does someone have thw ability to make souch an app?
I hope
I'm pretty sure access to the android notification can not be done through an app. Its like a core system process that probably can't be edited in real time. You would have to embed some sort of "notification drop down settings" into the OS.
But he is right Apple should not be ahead of us in any way..
Has no one left with common computer skills?
There's many topics on this here one just for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363528
Google and search button's seems to be extra these days
Good stuff I'll have to try. I don't know about everyone else about the search function, but I like to use my phone as a PC so the search does not work all that great through the android browser. Then filtering through the results.on this smaller than PC screen will give anyone a headache. Maybe the xda app is better idk..

I used my standard international SGS2 found results NP..
Cool, we're gettimg there.
However im looking for more than just a theme. Widgets and the ability to add my own background. I wamt the functionality, not just the look
I'm into the minimalistic icons, basically just simple words with transparent background. I'm trying to find a set that's purely ics blue with the transparency. hard to hunt this down. there's probably a max of 20 icons for apps in my docks.
edit: nevermind on this. I found the simple text app on market that creates anything I need. highly recommended app for themers

Just in case people don't get it. The App is called "Simple Text"
ok i will try to explain as precise as possible
I made Android Kotlin app for learning chemical compounds. My app has a full UI where user can add his chem compounds( and they are stored in a file "compounds.txt" in the app's folder) and also app is kinda testing user by asking some questions. When you open that file "compounds.txt", it looks something like this:
Ethanol=C2H5OH
Methanol=CH3OH
Hydrogen Peroxide=H2O2
Baking Soda=NaHCO3
etc...
So... I made all this, and it works and is ok.
What I would like now?
I would like to make a home screen widget which will be like a "random test" (or "random reminder") for a user when he is not even using my app.
Example: I add my widget on my home screen next to a clock...My widget is sitting there on home screen... and I am like... I take my phone.. I make a phone call... finish the call.. and then i see on my widget written "H2SO4"..
If I know what is a H2SO4.. then cool.. I dont do anything... i just continue my life...
But... if i cant remember what is H2SO4 i would just like to click the button on my widget (or not even a button. I can click directly TextView field) and then instead of "H2SO4" will be written "Sulfuric acid"
But... I would not like when I click button on my widget, that appears main UI of my app. Simple click on a widget should just toggle text between "H2SO4" and "Sulfuric acid"
Now... the question is... How to do this?
If i have 2 KT files MainActivity.kt and Widget.kt, and if i am able somehow with Widget.kt to load file "compounds.txt" then excellent. That would be the easiest way i think. Just load file... Split lines... and every 30 min..just change the text on widget...
But... If widget.kt can't load "compounds.txt" then what would be the next best solution for me?
I am very sorry for my long text. English is not my native language, so it is difficult for me to express myself
