So I screwed up somewhere trying to extend my system partition while using a guide - en miui com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=118294&highlight=re%2Bpartition%2Bmi%2Bpad
Now my device is stuck in Mi Logo while booting. I am able to access Fastboot and my twrp recovery(2.8.4).
I am not able to install any rom using the recovery. I get an error - E:unable to mount /System
When i check my partiton size in twrp , i see System has zero MB size. I fear I may have somehow deleted the partitions.
I see various guides for other devices on how to manually use parted and adb to recreate partitions, I was unable to find one for the Mi Pad. Please help a poor guy trying to resurrect his trusty Mi Pad!:crying::crying:
Also - I have tried patchworkoftips com/flash-xiaomi-mipad-fastboot-mode/5105/ and en.miui.com/thread-555593-1-1.html this person has exact same problem as me although he has somehow been able to progress more than me. I dont have knowledge of linux commands and commands, so a step by step guide would be very helpful!
Solved!
Update - I recreated my partitions using the following guides...Nearly spent 6-8 hrs learning this. Hope it helps someone!
iwf1 com/how-to-re-parti ... size-fs-type-etc/2/
This page has the original partition information which i referred to recreat. mine -
en miui com/thread-522771-2-1.html
Use a excel sheet to calculate the starting and ending bytes for the partitions. ROM is installed without errors and tablet is booting up now. Hope it works!

Hi,
This is my very first post (NOT ANYMORE - I posted the same on anther thread, but the thread was related to Nexus One). I am a total newbie regarding smartphones and even more regarding Android. 3 weeks ago I acquired a GT-I5500B (Samsung Galaxy 5). The phone itself is very good and the OS fits well on it. As curious as I am, I started poking around and found lots of good things about android devices like, rooting, flash Custom Roms, Images backups and recovery. Soon I found that was was supposed to be an easy and fun task like applying custom roms and OS upgrades are indeed quite hard to figure out. I give credit to the word 'Hard' to the carriers that like to make things as obscure as possible so for an OS upgrade you should get a new device. Seems that this is the problem with mine (I5500B).
They went so far that they removed the possibility of rebooting in recovery mode just by pressing a buttom combo (Power + Home + Volume Up). The recovery image is there, garanteed. It can be accessed by using 'adb reboot recovery'. The menu is quite simple and doesn't have the Backup, Restore option. Also, as a side note, I'd like to add that I have a feeling that a simple configuration change would make this work because while trying to enter in
recovery mode the screen hangs at the GT-I5500B logo and doesn't go further until I release the phone buttons. It is like if it was trying to find the boot and/or recovery partitions but couldn't...
I was checking up the OS installation on the device. I am somewhat skilled in linux so navigating through the shell was pretty familiar. For my surprise the /boot and /recovery partitions don't show up.
I would love to start playing around with my phone but I have a few questions before I do that.
1) From what I've been reading seems that there is no way I can perform an image backup without flashing a custom recovery image. IS this true ?? Isn't there another way of performing a Full backup before starting flashing things around ??
2) If there's no way to make a full phone backup before flashing, I think the appropriate way to push back the stock OS is by using the ODIN method (Download mode has not been disabled on I5500B), right ?? If so, how can I find the stock rom for my device ??
3) Do you have any idea if I can mount the recovery and boot partitions so I can take a look at their contents ?? Or even backup those partitions to an external drive. How can I find out on what device they are on ?
Any kind of answer, documentation pointing, blog, any new information helps...
Thanks,
SoonS_BR

Hi, I'm trying to help a fellow Atrix user after he formatted and partitioned the internal flash memory using Tenfar's CMW Recovery.
He has lost touch on the bottom part of his screen; about a 1/2" of screen space doesn't work.
Tenfar posted that he had done this too, and had resolved this by reformatting with the Stock Recovery. Another user asked in that same thread how he accomplished that, but no answer has been given yet.
This user cannot get the Recovery Menu to show up because of the lower touch screen not working.
Can the steps be run blindly without the Recovery Menu showing up?
Or, can someone help me on how to have him format the internal memory via ADB?
I've had him try the following ADB commands from both the /!\ Recovery Screen and after enabling Early USB Enumeration without luck.
Code:
adb shell
$ su
# format DATA:
Comes back with format: not found.
Can anyone help? I've seen a few others with this issue but have yet to see a full solution posted for those that aren't ADB experts.
I have this problem too! Tenfar was kind enough to try helping me but apparently I'm a retard and unfortunately can't follow his instructions. I've been spending an entire week reading hours each day and I'm embarrassed that I still can't fix it, despite him sending me almost a dozen PM's trying to do so. Very grateful but sad that I'm so dumb.
He's told me to do this:
$adb shell
$su
#busybox umount /sdcard (hit enter key)
#newfs_msdos -F 32 -S 512 -L MB860 -c 64 -u 16 /dev/block/mmcblk0p18 (hit enter key)
I'm not sure where to do this. I now think I do this while the device is in Early USB Numeration but I haven't tried it yet. The wife was getting really pissed because I spent the entire weekend trying to fix this and have been investing too much time on the computer. She's... having mad PMS so I'm leaving it for a few days lol
I tried earlier when the phone was booted up but after some research, believe it may need to be done in Early USB Numeration mode but there's only about a minute before it automatically reboots. I haven't tried this and hope that my assumption is correct. I know about 3 other people who are currently experiencing this challenge and I hope that it corrects it.
The wife is working a double shift today so I'll try after work. Can't blame her for getting upset with me. Soft bricked a few other phones but fixed them with relative ease. This has been by far the toughest. It was my birthday last week and I spent most of my day on the computer trying to fix my Atrix lol
After this, no more formatting internal SD partitions!!! Paypal is giving me grief but I plan on giving Tenfar a modest donation. He's been very supportive of my dumb ass lol
In this forum there is a very good guide on how to use adb. Can't remember where exactly it's at I just did a general search for How to use adb it may help you.

Thank you!
I managed to install Ubuntu and I really like that.. tried from there too and it wasn't working. So I think it's definitely a problem with my dumb ass. If and when I get it working (I'm determined!...... and sort of stuck lol) then I'll post a guide.
Fuuuuuuuuuuck!!! Still not working!!
Yeah.. i ended up wiping with stock recovery and still a no go. Still no lower half of the screen or buttons. Sucks big time
Once ADB can be run in the recovery menu I think it should be fine.
Tenfar said he's fixed this problem but I'm no sure where he's run these commands. I feel bad after sending him a ton of PMs so I'm just waiting until he updates his Recovery app.

That's been mentioned and tried multiple times.
I have a simple script written with the command lines from Tenfar, but I am getting his input via PM to make sure it's correct and when exactly to run it. Hopefully he'll be able to direct me on how to get it done. Unfortunately, even if he says it looks right it's going to be completely untested. :-/

There's still a glimmer of hope, buddy. Once we get ADB access in Recovery I think all should be well.. unless partitioning this block somehow corrupts and kills the digitizer or something.
I actually couldn't wait any longer. Ported to Bell and got a new Atrix so if things go bad I'll have an easier time swapping. When I fix this AT&T one I'll sell it to pay off my cancellation fee with Rogers. Or, if I end up sending it to Motorola I can go back with my buyer's remorse period and go back to Rogers.
Hope you've got a backup phone or something to use in the meanwhile, man. This issue drove me INSANE!!
Hope is good, but this isn't necessarily for me. That's why I can't test it; this didn't happen to my phone. I have just been trying to help those who this did happen to. I'm also sure it will continue to happen if the CWM port for our phones isn't preset to format correctly.
Glad you were able to get a working phone again, but too bad a phone had to go back under these conditions.
Well, I'll keep trying to figure it out; waiting on another reply from Tenfar. Our schedules don't mesh too well, so if there's anyone else that might have experience in formating via ADB any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have the same problem, I just wanna know if anyone found a solution to fix that?
Also, I live in Belgium (Europe), I bought the atrix in usa a month ago during my honey moon. Motorola Europe doesn't support yet the atrix, I don't know what to do!
The phone is not usable anymore, like someone said: "clicking on the soft button area registers as a click on the bottom of the screen". So, the back button don't work anymore (you have to reboot when your stuck in a menu!)
hi guys i'm currently with a reflashed stock 1.83 rom, i can use android recovery (there the bottom screen portion works) and i can run wipe data/cache.
but no matter how many times i tried when the phone finally boots up it starts with motoblur setup and i cannot pass it, all the buttons work like the bottom of the visible screen and i cannot raise up the keyboard to turn the setup off...
i read in the sbf thread that would be possible to flash or not some particular areas, so if the problems is the wrong partitioning of the /dev/block/mmcblk0p18
maybe some of them could create a sbf replacement toreflash only that partition
other side i was talking with bongd and he says he had problem with the psd.bin file that is in the mmcblk0p03...
so what is the current status of this? adb seems not to work even in early enumeration usb mode...
what if we execute the script using the update.zip function?
i can access my sdcard from windows in storage mode
if we put the script in one signed update.zip into the sd the phone should be able to execute itself?

Tenfar told me it was mmcblk0p18 but it's actually mmcblk0p03 which needs to be corrected.
There's no ADB in recovery right now. Tenfar's apparently got it working but hasn't released it yet.
I also guarantee you can bypass the Motoblur setup as well. Hit these keys:

I'm positive because I've literally flashed every SBF and I've spent a lot of time troubleshooting this issue.
really i cannot open the keyboard while i'm in the blursetup screen, i keep pressing the menu button but it highlights only the emergency call and after many seconds it chance to emergency call screen...
At this time, your phone is 'bricked' since we can't get ADB access.

we don't have adb access but i tried and we can use the update function in the stock recovery...i tried to put a update.zip of my old milestone and the process worked till the sign verification that failed.
in the milestone that update.zip is used to run the updaterscript that launches the openrecovery by skrilax_cz, that works like the recovery of tenfar
i guess that if we have a correct update.zip for atrix and we put in it the script we need, it should be run.
unfortunately i don't have the knowledge to build the correct script and don't have access to a signed update.zip for atrix.
if we only could gain some interest of the devs i think our problem could be solved in short time...
edit: i sent 2 pm to tenfar but did not reply, maybe someone has more luck...
Hello, after playing with a tablet I got boot loop so below is solution for this.
This is what I wrote first:
I purchased Chinese tablet called CyberNav, there is link to the website with specs http://www.dracotek.com/cybernav-7-...ps-navigator-ultra-slim-wifi-8gb-gps70yw.html It works great and is worth the money. I received- on request- firmware for it, but it is with .img extension and I have no idea how to get to the files. Attached application PhoenixCard should install it on sd card but it does nothing. So there is my question- can anyone help me with it? Possibly root it? Or update to newer firmware version? I'll post a link to, just need to upload it to my dropbox on my next break at work.
Sek
im pretty sure you need a 3rd party application to flash that firmware, i think you load the .img file into the software on your pc, connect tablet in flash/recovery mode then flash it that way, dont know which software you would need to use though , sorry i cant help further
There is link to rar package http://db.tt/jm7eHfbq
If there is someone who wants to spend some time... Please help.
Bump
Some new infos:
As far I found out tablet is detectable during boot in adb, but it stays in boot loop. I think I've got right usb drivers.
I tried unyaffs the .img file using C:/unyaffs/unyaffs pw08.img but it shows file corrupted (might be wrong method?).
Logcat attached.
Maybe there is someone who will find what it's missing...
I see there is nobody who can help me, so... If some of u have similar problem with chinese tablet- bootloop, can't flash it with LiveSuit our update from sdcard, I found solution which worked for me. Using adb, pulled catalog /dev/data/ to hard disk, then deleted all dalvik cache, installed by me apps and almost every other file from /data on my hard disk. Then typed adb remount, then adb shell rm -r /dev/data/* to delete all data catalog on tablet. Then pushed /data catalog from my hard disk to tablet, and finally adb reboot. And it WORKS! Booting without problems. I wasted 4 days on research how to turn it in flash mode etc. But it was very simple.
Cheers
Sek
Hi, sek111
It was necessary to use the LiveSuite to flash through usb.
Thank you very much, from your post, I found the firmware for my tablet.
An experience with another low cost tablet with Bootloop
I happen to got my tab (Wammy from WickedLeak.org) stuck in BootLoop and was struggling to get a way out for the past 3 days, checking almost all of the posts for this issue!
The tab would stuck on the android loading animation despite running for 2-3 hours and after several hard reboots, it throw-ed following error-
Encryption Unsuccessful
encrytion was interupted and cant complete. as a result the data on your tablet is no longer accessible
to resume using your tablet, you must perform a factory reset. when you set up your tab after the reset, u'll hav an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to ur google account

Despite going for the factory reset, it still didn't workout as the reset activity never completed or proceeded. I happen to be a beginner/noob and was trying my luck with possible solution but was comfortable with ADB stuff and workaround. Well i checked the solution which sek111 offered in this post and it was most closely helped me out. So i would like to Thank him a ton for sharing his solution.
Another method for few others if you don't get through the technical stuff and handling all the flashing tools, i was successful in bringing up the setting window of my tab and chose to do Reset via GUI which worked. Actually my battery got drained out to 7% and a popup message for same displayed while i was on the above error page. I selected the "check battery" option from that pop up and got my way out via factory "Backup and Reset" option under settings.
I hope this might help few people if not all! But the XDA forum is great and everyone will find a solution here. Cheers!!!
So I got this wm8850 chinese generic tablet. The camera is in the front in the middle (wide). It was shipped to me with 4.0.3 in boot loop. I soon found out that it boots into safe mode when I usb to pc. This is the furthest I've gotten with it so far. I can adb into it and have already tried to wipe data. It seems like since its from factory screwed up that a may need to reload the firmware or the os or something. Im kind of a noob because I only have my droid x. I've gotten it out of a boot loop before but I also knew what I had done to cause it so I fixed it. I tried to follow seks adb commands but im too noob to do it I guess. I was able to wipe data and dalvik-cache. Issue still occurs . If anybody can give me some adb commands than can help I would greatly appreciate it. Im fairly sure that I found the firmware elsewhere on xda. I thank you guys for any help at all you can give. I don't wanna send it back without trying everything software related as I can, but ill send it back if I can't fix it or if I brick it

Hello,
i have a strange problem with my FireHDX 7.
Tablet will load the boot image then after a few seconds reboots.
It happened on CM 13.1 (i have unlocked bootloader).
I tried everything put on Stock Recovery. Factory Reset. Put on CM 12.1,
put on Stock Amzazon.
No matter what after a few seconds tablet always reboots again.
In TWRP i can see /data having errors. That i can fix with format data.
Once i flash ROM again same loop happens again.
What can that be, faulty emmc? Is there any chance of fixing it?
Unfort. it happened 6 days after the 1 year amazon garantee ran out...
Thanks for any help

No need to double post. Regular HDX contributors will have seen your issue in the development thread. Well...at least those with some knowledge of your hardware. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of commonality with other android devices. Tough to get help elsewhere. Sorry this happened to you.
thanks for the answer
well i guess i have a device that could be used for some research now
i turned it off and can charge it
anything can be tried in fastboot mode or TWRP mode or stock recovery mode
anyone wants to try out something?
p.s. i still dont understand how it can work in TWRP mode and fastboot without rebooting
but crashes or reboots when any image is loaded

TWRP operates (loads) from the recovery portion. The symptoms suggest damage to another partition. The reboot likely occurs when a write operation fails or attempts to put data in a protected area. With a second (working/unlocked) device you might be able to compare storage layouts, determine differences and take corrective action...assuming it is not a HW issue. I realize that's unlikely to happen. Not even sure what to look for and the commands needed to reveal low level storage/partition details.
There is no low-level formatting available for HDX.
Since you have an error with /data there is a good reason to check this partition.
Load into TWRP recovery, attach the tablet to a PC with ADB and driver installed, unmount the data using the interface, launch the adb shell,
then try e2fsck -fpv /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata
However I'm not sure that any issues with /data can cause the reboots.
Check the system partition too.
On my device Wi-Fi can't be turned on, this can be NAND issues.
thanks for the help
i can try on monday since my half brick fire hdx is at work
merry x-mas !
p.s.
checking the filesystem for userdata and system indeed showed no errors
still have the reboot problem
guess it is a nand problem then...
