How to make sure Micro SD card slot is working

Hello,
Just got myself a second hand S740. The phone works fine, but one thing doesn't seem to work, my Micro SD card slot.
I tried 2 different cards, both 2 GB. The one is a Kingston, the other is a brand I don't know from the top of my head. I formatted the cards first as FAT32, later as FAT. I also tried a hard reset, but this didn't solve the problem.
Before I'm going to contact HTC about this, I want to make sure my SD card slot is really broken. I asked the person I bought this phone from and he said he always used an Micro SD card in the phone and it worked fine.
So, if the card doesn't show up in the explorer and doesn't work using the storage USB mode when connected to PC, what can I do to verify my card slot is really broken? By the way, tested cards work fine when inserted in my cardreader at my PC using a Micro SD - SD adapter.

Transferring files from internal to external sdcard

I notice that I have been getting corrupted pictures. Has this happened to anyone else but me? Or is it the SdCard?
Is it a brand new micro sd card? what's the capacity? When I first inserted my brand new 32gb micro sd card it wasn't recognizing it. So I formatted mine via pc as fat32 and it didn't give me any issue after that. Try that and hopefully it works for you.

It was my first microsd card, 32 gb Gskill class 10. I formatted via SDformatter on PC.
Try to format the card on the phone itself. With my new 64gig card, I try to do so on my PC and gave me problems at first. After trying it on my phone it has worked flawlessly thus far.
Be sure to unmount the drive properly in Windows. SD cards can corrupt when you just unplug the phone without unmounting the drive first.
Alternately, on your phone you can switch to 'charge only', which does the same thing.

Micro SD Card Reader Quit Working

I was transferring files from a micro SD card in my laptop to the 32 GB SD card in my phone. All the files tranferred over just fine, but now the card reader in my phone doesn't work at all. I tried resetting the phone already. Does anyone know what happened and can it be fixed?
NEVERMIND... problem solved.

[Q] 32GB mSDHC card doesn't work?

So I have a 32GB microSD card that works perfectly in everything except my Atrix 4g. It didn't work in the stock ROM, doesn't work in CWM, and doesn't work in CM10. I put it in and it says "SD card possibly damaged, you may need to format" or something like that. So I do that, and when I tap format it just flashes some screen and then keeps showing the ongoing notification about how my SD card is damaged..
I tried FAT32 and exFAT, neither worked. Tried quick and full format for both. Any suggestions? Or does 32GB not work on the atrix?
Hmmm...
It may be that your SD slot is damaged, or the SD card/brand is not compatible. I have a 32GB card in mine that works perfectly. If other SD cards(2,8,16GB) work, then I'd try another brand of 32GB SD card, if no others work, then the slot is probably the issue.
Hope that helps.
Dre
Have you tried a different MicroSD card in your Atrix? I remember reading that the MicroSD slot gets loose and stops reading cards. If your current card works fine in other devices, try a different card in your atrix.

None of the ones I tried worked. Is there any known issue with the SD slot that's an easy fix or am I screwed unless I want to open it up and do some soldering?
Are you sure you are not trying to put 32GB SDXC card? I don't see how 32GB SDHC any different from for say 8GB SDHC.

USB otg plus SD card

I had been using my tab S6 with a kiwibird USB C SD card reader and this worked great.
I ordered a Samsung 128gb U3 micro SD card but my issue is that while the SD card is in the tablet, the USB card reader does not get recognised. This is also the same with my Note 9.
This seems very odd. Should this be the case, or is there a workaround?
problem solved (hopefully)

I contacted Samsung support and was advised to clear the data and cache from USB settings. After doing this the SD card reader now works while the micro SD card is inserted.
Problem not solved..
Ok, so I thought the problem was solved but it seems not.
Whilst my Transcend 64gb sdxc SD card was recognised in the card reader while the micro SD was in the tablet, the Toshiba 64gb sdxc SD card was not. When I removed the micro SD card from the tablet and rebooted the tablet, the Toshiba card was recognised in the card reader.
I've no idea why this would be the case but it basically means that I can't keep the micro SD card in the tablet which is a shame.
