I'd love to be able to upgrade without losing my 4G. Anyone had any success with this?

Hi MasterTec, can you try a TWRP backup with the current rom? I think TWRP 3.0.2-6 not 2-8 will work. Are you on the stock rom? How is the battery life?

I'm still on stock. I'll get that for you no problem just give me a bit of time. We'll get you your 4G back soon enough
Battery life is pretty sweet. Moderate use gets me through the day with a good 40% or so remaining. About once a week or so I'll have a day where it seems to be draining faster than usual (I'll get the 15% warning about 4pm or so) but if I reboot it seems fine again, although this could be from an app I have installed or something.. who knows...

can anyone help restore back to stock rom from nougat 7.0 beta?

4.1.2 FOTA for the P769

So, since this update is completely broken, I would like to know...
For those of us who DID get the FOTA and installed it...Once this update has been fixed and re-pushed, will we also get the new update, or am I stuck now with this broken 4.1.2 update?
What's Broken:
-App preferences do not stick (ALWAYS asks what gallery or launcher to use, etc.)
-Battery Life sucks now
-40% of texts now fail
-15% of calls are dropped
-Inaccurate battery readings (For example, will show 23%, plug it in, jumps right to 40%+)
I have tried to pull the battery, reset within menu, and reset via key press.
No idea but i think if anything we will be going to 4.2.1 or higher as the bugs were fixed with higher jelly bean roms honestly go back to ics using offline kdz flash by cmahendra

are you rooted with cwm installed? you could just flash the ics backup. however, I haven't had any of those issues except battery life but I still get over a day with a full charge

Nope, bone stock. And rooting this phone is a PITA (Pain in the ass). LOL. In order to root, apparently I still have to use the program that is giving me issues.
T-Mobile/LG would not leave us stuck with bugs. It is obvious they will push a newer OTA to fix these issues.
I was not aware that we are having this many issues since I am running CM 10.1 . I feel for ya man. Hang in there. Hopefully it won't be long.

FINALLY!!! I got things working properly... I ended up going back to ICS 10G. Can't find the 10E, so I'm still without root for the moment. However, all app preferences stick now. So it certainly was the JB build that I had.

The only thing I can think of is I either had a bad download, or disabled something that was helping to hold the defaults. Day 2 back on ICS and all is still good.
I have no issues with battery life and my defaults stick

Should root this phone?

Hi guys! I ordered the oneplus x yesterday and it is coming in tommorow. I am coming from the nexus 5 ive been using it for 2 years and i flashed the heck out of that phone until the motherboard died last month lol. So the question is should i root this phone? Will i lose some functionality of some sort? Is it better with custom roms?
Any help on this will be appreciated!
Well, the only thing you will lose is the Ota features... (Over the air updates)

Okay cool, i know about that. Thanks anyways
Yes you should since OOS get almost no updates and custom roms are working great !
I've been debating the same thing coming from the nexus 5 which just died. Even after replacing the battery, it just won't boot anymore. I'm actually quite enjoying this Oxygen OS. I've only been using the phone for 3 days, but it has enough customizations that I don't think I need a custom rom. It allows you to customize the battery with percentage, and has the custom reboot menu out of the box.
The only thing I'm contemplating root for is adaway, as I hate surfing the web and seeing all these ads and perhaps the custom kernel to get more battery life.
I'm getting tired of boot loops and troubleshooting the phone because of something I flashed I'm going to see how long I can stay with an unmodified phone this time around.

I was tired of the bugs too, tried to stay on the same rom for 1-2 months but there were always issues no matter what. Lets see when my phone arives tommorow! I am expecting better battery life from opx as the n5's battery life sucked xD even with elemental x.
Do you think opx is better in terms of daily usage than the 5?

I was a long time Cataclysm + Elemental user since I got the phone in 2013. With the custom kernel, I was able to easily go a full day without charging. I found all the problems with the N5 began when I upgraded to Marshmallow. LP never had all these issues I experienced. Currently OPX on LP, after 3 days the phone is running very smooth, no issues at all and the battery lasts a full day as well so I currently have nothing bad to say about this phone.
I just updated to 2.2.1 this morning, as the phone came with 2.1.2 from the factory but I wanted to ensure I didn't have any problems before upgrading the OS. But for me, I'm very happy with the OPX right now. I think it's more than suitable as a daily and there isn't much I miss on the N5.

Yep, m was buggy. I was on chroma and the phone slowed down after a month on every mm rom. Dont know why, anyways thank you for your experience
Got a almost new 1+x here for about 3 days the previous owner had used kingroot on it so it stayed after reset I did get a Ota but it kept failing to install so downloaded the full oxygen rom update.
It's been working great I ended up putting kingroot back on as its something different and don't feel like I need to flash a custom rom yet

Maintenance update (1.1.A.0.1)

Anyone know what this is?
Been ignoring the latest .305 update notification, but now this shows up, only 1.3MB - does anyone know what it is / does?
Iv just had this update, installed it and can't see any obvious changes like the security patch update for august or October.
installed t, dont see changes
I just flashed .305 and I get this notification too
Does it have any influence on the root?

Excuse me, how do you state this?
Because of this
not sure its related or if i had it before
but i see in xperia care that i use more than 75% of my storage space
I have the same notification, both actually: the first one 23.5.A.1.291 and the second one 1.1.A.0.1 with my Xperia Z2
I updated it with the 1.1.A.0.1, it's OK, the phone don't reboot. But I don't update with the 23.5.A.1.291. I don't want to lose the root, xposed, and root apps (it was hard for me to have them on my phone (and I don't know why I can't access anymore to recovery, with locked bootloader)).
Anyone notice any additional battery drain? Might be just imaging it but it does seem like battery not as good.

i update 2days ago.. so its too soon to say
so far its 1% per hour(average) standby with wifi+data ,so.. you might be right
i'll continue to follow
the next night ill try without data\wifi\bt or stamina mode
my best record so far is 0.11% per hr (1% every 9hrs)
my worst drain yet is 15mins for 1% for standby (wifi whatsapp via browser)
i still didnt get .350 update for some reason
in 60 days we should've get android 7.0 i think (i forgot the date)

Apparently some Z3C report the same problem (like here) , not sure if it can be related. In either case I prefer wait and see if there is an evolution about this update.
I wasn't going to install it but you can't get rid of the notification and then it annoys me ?

Yeah the notification appear this morning and it annoys me too x)
I just stop the service, and freeze the updater app with Titanium BC, and it seem to work.

New Android 7.1.1 Battery life

HEY guys please post your battery stats and let me know the comparison from 7.0 --> 7.1.1 update did you guys see an improvement and how much. It was pretty evident that it was bad on 7.0 except a rare few cases of some people increasing in battery life.... well whatever post your screenshots please!!!
i notice battery was drainning fast after update.. so i did hard reset tru recovery and wipe data cache . now its seems back to normal. ill post sot later .. using stock 7.1.1. non rooted.
Could be placebo but standby time seems to be taking an improvement over the DP2. But of course, just had the 1st full battery charge will wait it out to post the outcome.
I'm on 7.1.1 Dp2.. Stock and rooted..
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
Can those who post add whether it was a clean or dirty update?

Not bad for a nougat update but I was hoping to see 5 hours sot.....if nougat can't get 5 at all at this point I believe it can't I'll clean flash the new update and if that doesn't work I think I'll downgrade to mm to get the once great 5hrs sot I used to get im getting like 4hrs as well on cortex Rom 7.1.1
First day on 7.1.1 and I am pretty disappointed. Have been getting around 4.5 hours SOT on average on 7.0. I am stock rooted with ex kernel. At times today battery was draining fast when on even with basic interaction. This is a dirty flash through FF.
Will try another day or so before doing a clean flash.
Was getting 4 and half hours of SoT on dev preview 2 but got reduced to 4 hours with the final release and somehow Google Play Services is taking up way too much battery. I dirty flashed stable 7.1.1 over dp2
I am on Stock+ custom ROM and kernel is elemental X.
My stats are attached.

(HELP) Very Poor battery Standby Time on Redmi Note 3 Kenzo....

Hi there. I've Redmi Note 3 Kenzo for a month now. I've problem with my phone battery backup. It have very poor standby time. Even when I'm not using my phone it continuously looses 2/3 percent of battery per hour i.e around 40-50 % in a day . I usually turn off data, wifi , GPS etc after using even though its the same. I tried MIUI 8 Global as well as Chinese (Both stable and Beta version), even downgraded to MIUI 7 on various version, used eu.xiaomi ROM, MultiROM etc but still there is same problem. In some custom ROMS like CM 13 and RR Remix there is a bit improvement in standby time but not as it must be in 4100 mah battery. As I like using MIUI than custom ROM so my problem is still there. I am tired of flashing various ROM every now and than. Does anyone facing same problem. Can anyone help me and suggest some ways of solving this problem. Any help will be highly appreciated. Hope someone will Help. Please................

+1,
i am too tired of flashing this and that ROM,but battery is too horrible for me ,mostly with miui ,I get only 5-6 h sots with miui,
however my experience with nougat cm is quiet satisfactory ,it gives at least a reasonable sot,if u find something pleaaase pm me too.
It's most likely an app that is causing this. Are you able to see if the phone is going into deep sleep?

I tried Wake Lock Detector but couldn't find any app causing the problem. I even tried Greenify and Amplify app but no improvement. It seems its Problem In MIUI Rom cause using custom ROM i get a bit improvement in standby battery life. Any suggestion can you give like Which version of MIUI Rom is better for battery life.
Is there anyone who can help? Please.....
I'm currently on xiaomi.eu rom 6.11.3 (since it is the only one that allows for use of custom kernels with goodix at this time) and I get what I feel is good battery life. You could try this ROM if you have an unlocked bootloader.

Thanks for your reply. But i already tried that Rom. And yes i have officially unlocked bootloader. I usually get satisfactory SOT but my only problem is standby time. Battery is decreasing constantly even without using my phone. Currently using RR Remix Rom and getting a bit satisfactory result but i really like MIUI so I'm looking for a fix. Thanks again.
