Lineage OS kernel support - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI guys. I have galaxy i9300 and I have installed the lineage os rom 14.1. My phone used to face a problem with charging because the ac charging gets down to 100mah or 200mah if I install new roms. so always I need a kernel to control that digit and make it 1000mah.. but on this rom lineage os 14.1 I didn't find any kernel that I can control my phone
my question is what configurable kernels does lineag os 14.1 on I9300 support? please help.. thanks
Edit: I found the solution by youtube.. I couldn't find the compatible boeffla kernel on their site for this rom. but at youtube I found a specific boeffla kernel for lineage os 14.1 or cm 14.1 for I9300 which is weird that I couldn't find it on boeffla site... Everything works just fine the kernel is functioning and the rom come with 35000+ aprox antutu score which insane considering the device

youtube link? and name and version of the kernel?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVocfB8uqVg
go to download link in description. don't forget after flashing the kernel to install the boeffla apk

The problem with custom roms is they get slow and glitch out over time so make sure you do a backup once you get the phone into the state you're comfortable with so you can restore efficiently. You have to remember that the i9300 is about 5 years old now.

Kernel for 5.1 lollipop

Does anyone here know if there is a i777 compatible kernel for the galaxy s2 i9100 5.1 lollipop roms . I have tried using Shift- Eternal- lollipop kernel. It was compatible with the i9100 5.0 lollipop CM Resurrection_remix ROM, but I have not been able to get it to work with the 5.1 release.. I have tried replacing the boot image file from cyanide L 5.1. It boots but there is no wifi or Mobile data.

No, sorry. @rogersb11's kernel is pretty much the only game in town now. It's possible (purely speculative) that you've run into problems because he builds his own kernel instead of CM's, and RR is basically CM with added features so you would need a pure CM kernel to port.
Again, that's a guess, as that's how it used to work. He's posted an update to his rom; did you try pulling the kernel from that update?
Steve, thanks for taking the time to reply. I was afraid that was the case. Rogerb11 first 5.1 release was without his lollipop kernel. he stated that he was having problems with his kernel with wifi. I tried porting that kernel and I believe that it just boot looped. His second release with his kernel booted, but then I experienced problems with wifi and mobile. Hopefully he will release a 5.1 standalone kernel that can be ported over to the i9100 ROMs.
The truth is I have not been able to find a stable lollipop rom yet for my phone. The closest was resolution remix 5.02. and I was wanting to try the 5.1 version. Will keep checking the forum. Thanks again

Question about which rom i can use

Hello righ now i running Neat Rom V6.4 and i wish install an newer version of android like LP or MM, i tried N Ressurection Remix and LOS 14.1 AOSP but have more bug for me. i want a daily use rom and for play games too. Which rom do you recommended me?

Heya OP,
I'm currently running Lineage 14.1 with Android 7.1.2 on my I9100 after following djibe89's superb installation and root tutorial
Unfortunately the OS is not running as smoothly as I had hoped, and I am also searching for a leaner ROM.

Most stable and smooth ROM for i9100?

I just got old Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100) with old Andoid 2.3.3. I plan to give it to my old father as he has quite ancient phone.
What is the most stable and smooth ROM for this phone? I suppose a lot of people ask for that
I need good battery life (mostly for stand-by time), stability, camera and GPS.
Is it stock Jelly Bean, or some ported Android 5, 6 or 7 (CM, LOS, RR etc.)?
stock based roms like NeatROM,Alliance or Omega v24....
What about MM or Nougat ROMs (like Lineage OS), shouldn't they have imrpoved stand-by time due to new Android power-saving features? What kind of bugs are there?

I have currently LineageOS 14.1 and it seems to work relatively fine, but there is spome battery drain (about 30% per 24h when the phone is just in stand-by, unused, but connected to wifi - maybe that is normal). I have some problem in the phone that stock Android 4.x, CM 11, DU 10.6 and CM 13 (with built-in kernel) are freezing, rebooting etc, while Android 2.x and LineageOS 14.1 seem to work stable. DorimanX kernel for MM helps somehow and DU 10.6 nor CM 13 don't freeze, but it is not compatible with DU (it doesn't finish loading even after one hour) and CM 13 got into some kind of load-loop after some hours of use. I may need to research some custom kernels for stock 4.1.3 or CM11 that would work then... In addition, CM13 didn't look faster than LineageOS 14.1 (perhaps even LOS 14.1 feels a bit smother with f2fs than CM13 with ext4).

yeah, the battery is the main problem in LineageOS, that's why I recommend going back to JellyBean or KitKat, they are still the best.
In the end, I use this old device with AOSP NeatROM's as music player, connected to speaker lol

Do I need to update kernal with custom ROM?

I am currently on stock MIUI but I came from a Nexus and prefer stock android. The phone is on MIUI 9 which is based on Android 7.0. Am I right in thinking that the kernal I am currently using will only work with a ROM based on android 7.0? If I pick a 8.0 ROM can I use my existing stock kernal or do I need to update the kernal?
I fancy moving to LineageOS and I see I can pick LineageOS 14.1 (based on android 7.0) or LineageOS 15 (based on android 8.0).
Thanks.
Every custom rom including miui, have their own kernel source, you need not worry about the kernel used in a particular rom, because they are not cross supported. Miui's kernel is not supported by lineage and lineage's kernel is not supported by miui. Only custom kernel formed by merged source code support both of em. What exactly is your purpose?
Ahh so each custom rom also includes a new kernel, I hadnt realised that.
I havent rooted a phone since my ZTE Blade about 7 years ago, since then I have had Nexus phones and havent needed to change anything. I did update kernel then and my phone signal suffered so I wanted to avoid updating my kernel. I understand that the kernel contains the 'drivers' for all the components in the phone and I didnt fancy messing with them but seems I have to.....
Thanks for your input...

Need a good rom i93000

im using LOS14.1 and i have an issue like when im using the phone if someone call me the call screen come after 5-10 secs or sometimes i cant play videos until i reboot my phone , if there is any rom 5.1 - 7.1 that is smooth and battery freindly enlighten me please
Just flash latest cyanogenmod 11 with boeffla kernel or some touchwiz 4.4 ROM. Android 4.4 is by far the most stable version for the i9300.
CM 12.1 also works but it is a bit slow and some apps like greenify cause a bootloop on the ROM.
