Just got the phone today. Seems like no info yet for this particular model. Feels so weird using the unrooted phone.

Is the v10 carrier unlocked for international carriers (like the Verizon variant) or do I have to unlock it first?

Verizon VS996 V30 bootloader can be unlocked if you convert it to US998 via Frankenstein to get fastboot flash commands.
Conversely, once you bootloader unlock a US998 (either original or some other converted North American variant) and install TWRP, then you can then convert that US998 to bootloader unlocked, rooted Verizon VS996 -- if you wish, or keep it as US998.
You can even buy a mint Sprint LS998 V30+ ($320 on eBay), convert to carrier unlocked US998 V30+, bootloader unlock, root, and then convert again to bootloader unlocked, rooted Verizon VS996 128 GB V30+ (which Verizon doesn't even sell).

Yes, it does -- besides the other stuff above.
If I go the eBay route and buy a Sprint LS998, does it need to be unlocked by Sprint before I can convert it to the US998 and then VS996 and use it on Verizon? Or is it good as long as it has a clear serial number through Sprint?

You can convert LS998 to US998 or VS996. You do not need Sprint to SIM card unlock/carrier unlock. Converting it to another model unlocks it.

Oh cool! What if it has a blacklisted ESN through Sprint? Would it still work on other carriers?

Now you're asking a completely different question. There's mint LS998 V30+ on eBay with good ESN for $315. My brother in law just bought mint us998 V30+ for $310 ( probably converted LS998).
There's no need to buy bad ESN phones. Unless you already have one.
There are ways around it, which I'm not going to do and which can't be discussed in XDA.
I'm just making sure I know what to look for/what to avoid when buying a V30. Appreciate the info!
is there a version of the device unlocked worldwide? or just versions locked to carier?

You should email LG website. As right now it's only for carries.

but the devices are not attached to the carrier for a period of time?
I've heard if folks that have used twitter to ask for day 1 permanent unlock and have received it. Even when not fully paid off.
TMO phone BTW

This is the response i received a few hours ago :
My whole reason for asking for unlocked was to Unlock the Bootloader. This would technically be my 1st LG I've ever own since July 2010 when I got my very 1st Android through Sprint Called the HTC EVO. I havent looked to another OS since. Feel in love with Development from the start, currently on Moto G7 aka River Android Dev Team and just left the Google Pixel 4 4XL Dev Group. Bunch of immature lil kids.... Anyway, is there no possibility of Unlocking the BootLoader in the V60? no way to install or flash Magisk for ROOT? No TWRP? I cant even imagine....[emoji23]
PS
They were listed as international versions on Amazon a week before launch....

Not surprised in the slightest that this is the case now and probably will get more prominent going forward. I'm guessing the money is in the carriers and not in selling unlocked phones direct to consumers.

Carrier Unlock isnt an issue, Just went through it on my Pixel 4XL. Took me (7) devices but once i found the right rep at TMO i was able to get them to unlock it, a) Same day i received it, b) wasnt even active on my account yet c)100% of Device was owed. d)
I could toggle oem unlock out of the box, cant enter bootloader though... Just fastbootd

Be careful! The carrier-locked LG phones only show carrier-specific radio bands in their spec sheets. This seems improbable in a modern phone but I'm not taking any chances. If the specs are right, a T-Mobile phone would work great at home but be dead while traveling.
