Best rom without lag? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the best fast rom without lag and small ram usage?

None exist. Device too old to not experience lag and ram is always used on Android.
Beamed in by telepathy.

I am interested as well. I am forced to use this device for a week untill my replacement screen for my other phone arrives. I know lagg-free isn't possible but there must be something close?

Try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-s3-i9300-4-3-based-stock-rom-t3338959

Although the S3 is slow itself and there is not much that can be done about it, you could try the Eclipse ROM along with the Boeffla Kernel 6.9 (note that Moro Kernel v1.8 is also an option). I was very surprised, because everything was actually really fast and the battery was decent.
ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/eclipse-rom-t3605315
Boeffla Kernel: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/kernel-boeffla-kernel-5-2-27-03-2014-t1964572
Moro Kernel: http://www.esp-desarrolladores.com/showthread.php?t=4173

CM 11 is not that bad.Its fast and multi tasking is good enough. But has some problems with codec I guess. But if you want no trouble then use a Sam based rom like debloated 4.3.

Help me choosing rom

Hi. I'm going on a 2 week trip, and i need to have my s3 in best condition
I look for fast and battery friendly rom for i9300, based on 5.0 (5.0.1/.2/.3) 5.1(.1) or 6.0(.1)
I was trying out Archidroid 3.1.5 (5.1.1 ) and it's doing ok but battery life is a little bit disappointing
Please help me choose the correct one
Ressurecton remix rom
I think this rom is the best. It is based on cyanogen mod and has all features of the other roms. Battery life is amazing and performance is liquid smooth
5.7.1 is the latest and is operating on android 6.0.1
(Cant post URL cause i a new member lol)
Hope this helps you!
@aciupapa, I'm amazed. I recommend Slim 5.1 +Agni 5.10.3OC (zzmoove /battery).

Res Remix has got Omni and features of slim rom. This is one of the reasons i love res remix. Got all the features of other roms!☺
Thanks guys for reply Will check them both.
@aciupapa:,I forgot to mention: I run Slim5 without GCrap and fat apps and zero zRAM. And yes, it's still a smartphone
@rp158 OK. Will try. Also I will try the LiquidSmooth rom (as name says it should be smooth )

I was happy with CM13 when I was using a d2tmo S3. Turning off background data and disabling wakeup permissions for the piggy apps did wonders for the battery, as well as barring Google Play services from waking up or accessing location. But if you're traveling, buy a spare battery or two and an external battery charger, you can get both for $20 US on ebay. That way you'll never be caught short.

Best rom for G2?

Fast, good battery life, good camera.
Stock LP 30F / AospExtender / other rom?
if camera is priority - skip any non-stock based rom (aka AOSP/AOKP/CM...)
Clody 3.3 best rom others are amateusrs
AOSPA 7 has the best non-stock camera, in my opnion. Its not as good as stock, but i think It comes close. I would say it has like 70% ~ 80% of stock quality. I recommend this ROM or Stock 30F with some debloat+ Dorimanx 12.0
Cloudy is very old rom and not updated.. stock 30F is much more newer version so why installing cloudy rom?
I do not recommend cloudy coz after 3 weeks its freezing. Many lags etc. Very slow rom. After some time is very slow.
I RR, AOSP Extended is also good ( atm running), BlissPop (MM) and my favourite rom from 5.1.1 Dirty Unicorn.
But for 7 i would recommend AOSP or CM.
You have to try them yourself because there is no one ROM that is the best.
AICP if you wan 7.1.1
All roms start to lag after some time, and I hate that about android.. Why do I have to flash a rom after 3 months? 3 months is the best case, some roms even lag after installing necessary apps..
I'm running RR right now. First months were a bliss. Now I can't open snapchat without lag.
When a ROM start to lag try to install Trimmer app, will save you

In my experience, the best rom is official CyanogenMod 13 for d802. It is super smooth, beautiful and very stable! Have been using it for years.

Regarding camera it uses SnapDragon camera optimized for Qualcomm Chipsets, and I believe it is the best camera you can get on a non-stock rom. You can even notice 'image stabilizer' working, didn't notice this feature working on other non-stock roms.
Regarding performance, didn't do any measurement, but it feels really fast and really smooth. I also use greenify. Regarding sound, I can't say anything since I do not know.
Also, according to GSAM battery averages, cm last two times longer than stock rom.
I've been using stock based Google Edition 1.5 with Dorimanx kernel and everything is extremely smooth.
Good battery life
The best camera quality
Smooth UI everywhere
Miracast, Dual Window and Screencast
Privacy guard to block app permissions
Audio over bluetooth works
Audio quality is good, listening with PowerAmp and Sennheisers
GPS has a fast fix
And this is from someone who has tried Cloudy 3.3 and CM 13 previously.

I'm still using KitKat 4.4.2
Dorimanx LG G2 Kernel for STOCK 5.0.2 Branches!
It says that Dorinmanx Kernel does not have support for KitKat 4.4.2
What will be the workaround? what version of Dorinmanx kernel to use?

Let me try! I hope you are honest with your answer..
Aosip, very good rom
Lineage OS 15.1
MSM Extended
miui 9
Dear
please use MIUI9 , this is the best ROM for LeEco Max 2,
awesome battery backup and lots of customise theme you can get in.
only one prob -it is marmallow
but it doesnt care.
rocking this rom,
use it
Those who need smoothness AOSP Extended is the best choice but it has some bugs-
Lags in games
Colour changing issue
Everything else perfect but lags in games is a deal breaker.
AOSIP will be a great choice if someone needs oreo and want the maximum stability with most of your x2, the only bad thing is it lags from last few builds, games are smooth tho.
I'm thinking to going to stock ROM, for better sound, battery, and stable smooth UI, not that laggy. But games lags on stock ROM , even Geometry dash lite lags horribly in stock ROM. Only performance issue is stopping me to use stock ROM, any solution for it?
@ThE_MarD do you have some ideas for my last question?

For gaming? I did link shiva my bardockpro GPU blobs Kang I'm unsure if he saw it or not but they do improve GPU performance.
Otherwise for lags over time? That could be thermal config needs revision... Maybe same with perf stuff
Another vote for AOSPEx. It really is a great rom.
The AospEXtended maintainer blew it when he introduced the EAS kernel - it causes lags and poor battery life. The builds after the 0417 one all became worse. So, if you still want to try it anyway, I'd recommend that one and nothing newer until he comes to his senses and reintroduces a HMP kernel or drastically reworks the EAS one...

Which rom to use for occasional usage?

I have replaced the Note 3 after almost 3 years, but I'll still use it occasionally for festivals or whatever when I wouldn't want to risk bringing my new phone. Which rom would be the most suitable for occasional use? I have to use Radon kernel, as my phone has the stuck jack problem. I would like to have a great battery life, stability and good performance, the android version doesn't matter. So could you recommend any?

Use Arrow pie. I heard It has jack stuck fix in default kernel may be.
If default kernel doesnt work then use agni kernel pie which has jack fix option.

What's currently the best CUSTOM ROM for SUZU?

Hey,
I made a mistake earlier this year and lost my keys so my phone lost a lot of features and is pretty damn unstable (I regularly lose access to the fingerprint sensor for example), I want to try a ROM that is overall stable, fast, good battery life ...etc.
I tried OMNI last year and it was okay, but I haven't had the time nor the will to go through the flashing process with Pie only to find most of the things broken and go back to where I started. Also, a working camera is important to me.
TL;DR I'm looking for a stable/usable CUSTOM ROM to use as a DAILY DRIVER on my X Dual.
i have a X DUAL and i test all rom but this rom perfect with dual sim already active

Reading through the description and the comments, it seems to be missing the ability to install GCam as well as crashing with bluetooth and aux!
I've used Cyanogen/Lineage back in the day and I don't have anything to say about the ROM, but it seems that Xperia devices are destined for the garbage after they stop receiving the updates since every ROM is struggling with something on them.
I'll go through the most popular ROMs to help you decide based on your needs. Apart from Stock all these are 9.0 ROMs.
Stock (or stock-based ROMs like Existenz): Stable, all function works like you would expect. Great balance between performance and battery. If it hadn't been for Android 8 and the lack of customizations I would have stayed.
Omni, Paranoid, AOSP: Decent stability and battery life, but very poor performance due to bad kernel optimizations. Gcam fully works.
Lineage 16 by Chippa_a: Decent stability and battery life, but has some minor issues with Bluetooth and stuff. Light gaming is fine, but heavier games will run badly due to horrible CPU throttling. Included camera app is decent, but Gcam does not work at all and simply crashes. If you just want a stable Android 9 with near-stock experience then I recommend this one.
Treble GSIs with Pavel's Kernel: Has the best customizability because of GSIs and stuff. Crashes quite often. Unmatched on gaming, but battery life is horrible and you pretty much need to underclock the CPU on anything outside it. Gcam partially works. No NFC, RAW10 and offline charging.
Treble GSIs with modified AOSP Kernel: Same customizability with the above option. Also crashes quite often. Slightly worse gaming performance than stock, and battery life is also below average, but not at a horrible level. Gcam, NFC and offline charging fully works. Currently my daily driver, with Lineage 16 GSI by AndyYan.
lol paranoid android 7.1.2 is legendary

Thank you SO much for the effort, mate! Unfortunately, I need most of the things that are broken and don't need a much customization. I'd love me some 9.0 or even 10.0 but oh well, you can't have everything.
I'll stick with stock for now, run the phone until it breaks and say goodbye to Sony's phones.
Once again, thank you for your help, and thanks everyone.

I just flashed clean PA 7.3.1 and set kernel to performance in kernel auditor app this rom now is f*****g dope! Battery life is really legendary, performance in daily use is great there's no comparison with lineageos 15.1/16 (but anyway thanks to chippa for his work).
Also i flashed magisk selinux manager and set kernel to permissive so apps like Viper4Android, DriveDroid etc work flawlessly.
Xposed works too. What can i say everything is great only camera quallity is worse than on stock but not much worse. I think that PA nougat is the final rom on my X.
heres link: http://paranoidandroid.co/downloads/suzu
I also flashed oreo PA but its freeze on splash screen.

If you noticed, I only went through the Pie ROMs. Sure, you'll get better options by going back to Nougat/Oreo, but for all the missing features and compromised stability I'd rather stay in stock.

Also, it worries just like it is supposed to and rubs on stock kernel, because of this, it delivers more performance.
