Hey, you've made ports. Do you know what the difference is between twrp ports? For instance what makes a recovery.img different between phones? Does recovery.img have its own kernel? A rootfilesystem?

Yes. To install TWRP use Google Translator: https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=697227&view=findpost&p=64637653
Preview Oreo: https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=697227&view=findpost&p=64948575

Yes to which? "Translation to secure pages is not supported". I was asking about phones in general, not just the ZTE. I asked in a different thread but there was no response. So I thought you might know, maybe PM would be better, or maybe it's inconvenient for you?

but non of them were flashable.. it said tht the rom was for s7.. #something like tht# lucikly i have a backup of my rom to reflash. i researched some threads and found out tht i can flash the rom without the verification by deleting some symbols and words in updater script located inside google folder... but before I do tht.. i just want to make sure.. is the custom rom actually for "ZTE BLADE S7 T920" or is it for the "samsung s7"

Updater Process ended with error : 6
if i use the unedited rom it will show up error : 7
bummer for my phone... is there anymore that i can do?.. hehe.. i really want to experience android nougat and oreo..
but if its a dead end.. bummer...
maybe this could help?
i remember over the days.. i changed the build.prop and edit the model as my name..XD to fool my friends tht i made the device(trick failed.. they saw the logo at the back)XD... but i did'nt change it back.. because.. there was no harm. no error seem to pop up.. so... yeah... busted build.prop
i followed the custom rom... because i saw in some lines in updater script that wrote ro.product.device= s7
still the same with errors... below are the errors..
https://ibb.co/iRpA65
pictures of the log is in this link or in the attachment below... the picture is quite blurry because i used a java phone to snap a photo... hehe
inside the log is
''white colour'' regular process
installing zip file 'filename'
bla bla bla .etc
red colour... first red colour... was when i flash the edited rom(deleted some keywords in updater.script)
red 1
Updater process ended with ERROR : 6
Error installing zip file '/ filename'
the second red colour is flashing with the unedited rom
red 2
Updater process ended with ERROR : 7
Error installing zip file '/ filename'
if nothing can be done.. its okay ill just go with the stock then...

Hi, I want to share a solution for this as user of ZTE Blade S7 too:
If you want to install any rom via TWRP 3.1.1 you will have to edit updater_script with Notepad ++ because probably these errors are caused by trying to edit with any other Windows text editer.
Please confirm two options in Notepad ++: "Edit/EOL Conversion/Convert to UNIX Format" and "Encoding/Encode in ANSI".
I recommend to erase the first two lines in the script, use "update archive" via WinZip, WinRAR, 7ZIP (not to rezip the files, only update updater_script with the modified one) and you will not encounter the ERROR:7.
This way I manage to install custom roms because the problem is that TWRP 3.1.1 do not recognize our ZTE Blade S7 as "ZTE_T920" so the best solution is to erase this lines of code in all roms that include "ro.product.device" and things like that but in the correct way, just erase correctly and if rom is correct it will install without a problem.
For error:6 if you do this correctly maybe it can be caused by not erasing system. Do not forget to wipe system in advanced settings.
Additionally, I have the latest B20 version from Malaysia in TWRP zip, but I cannot share links so if you want it please message me.

Still unable to flash the lineage 15 Rom and somebody please assist by posting a link for a flashable file. Thanks

Hey Guys,
i got the same Problem here.
I´ve rooted with Kingroot posted by NFound and flashed the TWRP 3.1.1-1.img with Rashr ony my ZTE Blade S7 (T920)
After that i switched into TWRP and wiped everything.
Next i tried to install the lineage os but get error 7, after deleting those 2 lines i still get the error 7 just the "this rom is for "s7" this is a ""." message is missing now.
So i tried the cm-rom, install works like a charm but google play freezes and i cant delete cache of apps because the settings window freezes too when i want to click on apps.... (used open gapps arm 5.1 nano)
So both dont work very well 4 me, maybe u got an idea.
Right now i´m downloading lineage os another time to make sure the rom is not bricked or sth.
Lg Seg

Thanks for updating, i was having problems with the stock rom after installing xposed and magisk and was considering trying the fix for the lineage rom.
I do wonder if anyone here actually managed to get that rom to work. Please update us if you succeed.

Status 7 Details...
Which ROM were you trying to flash, specifically?
However,
Status error 7 is not only due to a logical error in updater-script, but it can also be caused due to an out dated update-binary. Try using the update binary below and if it does not help, report it to your ROM developer to fix the issue in updater-script.

Most error 7 updater errors are due to failed assertions, which re there for a reason. Some kernels/CWM recoveries do not have the right props set so the assertions will fail.
@danaksim, "fixing" the script is not a solution unless you realy know what you are doing and may be a death sentence for the device.
@loveymangal, when you asking such a question provide detailes for what ROM you are trying to install, link, or if you cannot post link at least the exact title and site it's on. Also provide the steps you made, and which ROM/kernel/CWM recovery you are using now.

Custom ROM for OPX ceramic?

Hey,
I was trying to flash the custom ROM's provided here to my OnePlus X ceramic. But I could install none of these (Resurrection Remix, SudaMod Project, MoKee). I always got some difficulties by flashing them.
I know some of them are explicit offered for the onyx version but are there differences between the onyx and the ceramic version, except the optical differences?
Are some of them nevertheless usable for the ceramic version?
Tell us what difficulties you had. There are no differences between colors.
Exactly... Show us what goes wrongly
When I try to flash a ROM, I alwas get the error message "This package is for oneplus onxy E1003, your phone is a "." or " "
The message varies slightly from ROM to ROM but means alwas the same: my phone should be another device than the ROM is for.
I admit, maybe this trouble is caused by myself, obviously.
When I rooted the OPX, I first have had flashed an wrong version of the TWRP. After that I made nandroid-backup, but then i saw the system was dissapeared miraculous.
There was no more system installed on the phone, surprisingly. So I installed the original OPX firmware but the error when I tried to install a ROM, persisted.

Try opening the updater-script file within the zip file and remove the "assert" statements at the beginning. Save the zip and try to flash again.

I use total commander to modify the updated script. Open zip, reach the right path, open the updater script with total commander editor. First it asks to you to choose three options, choose open and modify then delete the first row of file. Go back with keys and it asks to you save and insert the file modified into the previous zip. Tap yes. It will works and when it finishes to work u are ready to flash. Use a twrp provided into opx development forum section

[Honor 5A aka. Huawei Y6 II Compact] Are there any custom ROMs?

Hello guys!
Recently, i've got this phone mentioned above. It is a great phone, everything is okay, but i do not like EMUI a lot, i prefer AOSP to EMUI.
Are there any custom ROMs (CM, AOSP, etc) to this phone?
I've looked around on 4pda.ru about this, i found a recovery, but thats it, nothing more.
There you go, i installed this TWRP 3.0.2.0, and it works like a charm.
1: Unlock your bootloader. IT IS INDISPENSABLE! If you brick your device locked, you lost.
2: Go into fastboot (Easiest: Turn off your device, and Hold down POWER DOWN + POWER WHILE you attach the USB from the computer. The phone will go instantly into fastboot mode, it works for me)
3: Type: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
4: The phone now should download the recovery. Pull the battery out, and restart in recovery.
Download
The file is from 4PDA.ru, i have to reupload it, because 4PDA's sign up is a PAIN. A friend of mine helped me, and it took like 2 hours.
Altough, i do not know why you need the recovery other than backing up, since there are no custom rom avaiable for this phone. (Can anyone maybe port to it?)
I think, that porting Allwiev E4 Lite custom roms would be the best option, but I have weak knowledge about roms porting :crying:
There are no custom roms yet for this device.
For first you may trie to install nova launcher? It gives some feeling near to aosp.

No. The best option is to port the ROM with the same chipset (MT6735).

@snikerfreak did you find any rom for this device.
My son instaled TWRP and wiped everything trying to flash an honor 5A rom, installation failed so now phone is dead.
Do you know where to get a firmware? Can't find anything right!
All attempts to find firmware for my Dual Sim Huawei Y6 II Compact (LYO-L21) failed so I want to ask a BIG support to anyone in this thread with a TWRP recovery installed. By inexperience my teenager son wiped every partition on the phone and now we are unable to boot. It would be of great help if some one could share a twpr backup (including all partitions) to be used not only for me but for anyone as a flashable firmware.
I'm aware it would take some time, skills and dedication.
Here is how to perform it:
Backup your current phone firts with all your personal data
Do a Factory Reset
Do a second backup to be shared as a stock rom or standard firmware
Restore personal backup
Upload firmware (stock rom) backup to the cloud and share donwload link here
Is there anyone wanting to provide this?
I'll be very grateful for that
Thanks

Russian have custom ROMs in 4pda forum. It is Resurrection Remix OS 7.1.1 (unstable beta) and CyanogenMod 14.1_Android 7.1.1 (beta, camera not working). They stop work with RR_OS, but CM 14.1 is still porting.
You can help em.

Also u can install ota-updates from custom recovery. Just del some strings in updater-script file into update.app \META-INF\com\google\android\ and repack its like .zip (w/o compression)
4xample strings:
assert(file_getprop(" -- it is checks firmware version and region
assert(apply_patch_check(" --- it is checks the hash sums of files the updates

Redmi 5 plus bought in china and brought to Europe; put a standard android

Hello, I'm a noob in modding a phone, but I want to try
Some years ago a friend of mine bought a redmi5plus in China and brought it in Europe; he put on it a global MIUI and registered it with a MI account.
Now he sold me his phone, and correctly disassociated it from his account.
What it would be nice to do is to remove the MIUI global, and put a stock android OS, like android 8.1 (with google apps), because I want to give it to my father, and he's a bit old, he learned the standard android and can't fit with the MIUI one (he still asks "where the hack is the menu button with all my apps?" and similar).
So, a pure OS, no MIUI, no non-google-basic apps.
Since I'm quite a noob (ok, I have a computer science degree but I've never touched a phone), could you please help me on learning how to do this?
(or if there's a guide on how to do that, what are the OS list i can mount on it, no problem, just link me)
edit: specs are:
- model: redmi 5 plus
- android version: 7.1.2 N2G47H
- MIUI version: MIUI global 9.2 | stabile 9.2.6.0(NEGMIEK)
- band base: 953_GEN_PACK-1.129634.1.131253.1
- kernel version: 3.18.31-perf-g439dbb6
Thanks!

This work for orangefox too

After you flash over ADB, you must flash again the orangefox.zip in recovery.
And roms look in the right section

No, but you can make miui that it look like stock with a theme and a customer launcher.
Maybe you can use the Xiaomi eu rom.

mmm i had a look but i think i'll try evolutionX ( the one in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/development/evolution-x-4-4-redmi-5-plus-t4122467 )
is there a small guide on how to do the steps to install it? =)
Until now I just disassociated this phone from the old account (was my friend account who gave this phone to me) and I just looked into developer settings and i saw that is already unlocked (don't exactly know what does it means but is it, if there's some explanation of those things in some guide...)
ok, i tried to install it without success, the phone now goes in black screen and stays there.
I installed TWRP with
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
boot twrp.img
this step was ok, if i do it from a command line connecting my phone in fastboot mode to the pc, it starts.
then i went on "install" and installed the zip file
EvolutionX_4.5_vince-10.0-20200714-0943-OFFICIAL.zip
from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/development/evolution-x-4-4-redmi-5-plus-t4122467
after that, i rebooted the redmi 5 plus and boom, black screen after some seconds of "mi" screen.
can anyone help me?

the problem with no SIM and no WIFI was exactly the firmware. I didn't even know a phone had a firmware!!
Thanks!!
Now it works with EvolutionX; absolutely no chance of working with
- crDroid
- MSM Xtended
- coltOS
- resurrection remix
- HavocOS
with all of these it gives me a misterious "error 7" during install. Do you know what is this error?
Ok, i solved.
I was absolutely CERTAIN that the ROM I wanted to install was the one made for my redmi 5 plus,
(filename is Havoc-OS-v3.7-20200726-vince-Official-GApps.zip )
so what i did was
- I went to META-INF\com\google\android inside the zip file with winrar
- unzipped to desktop the updater-script file
- since my phone is TOTALLY EMPTY, i changed those lines:
* removed line
Code:
run_program("/tmp/install/bin/backuptool.sh", "backup", "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system", "ext4");
* removed line
Code:
run_program("/tmp/install/bin/backuptool.sh", "restore", "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system", "ext4");
* then, since I read a lot about that but no one ever posted the result, i tried changing this line
Code:
block_image_update("/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system", package_extract_file("system.transfer.list"), "system.new.dat.br", "system.patch.dat") ||
abort("E1001: Failed to update system image.");
with this line:
Code:
block_image_update("/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system", package_extract_file("system.transfer.list"), "system.new.dat.br", "system.patch.dat");
and i re-inserted this file draggin and droppin it in the winrar window, where the old file was; DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE ZIP or it will be thrown an error on the zip name;
- wiped system, dalvik, cache, data (if it gives some errors, reboot and retry; if still errors, i formatted data in ext2 then re-formatted in ext4 )
- installed the modded zip
everything went ok.
I am anyway really disappointed by this community, not a single help in 3 days, just "follow guides". Just thanks to joke19 who at least tried to help me giving me some basic info.

TWRP 3.5.0.0 vs Orange Fox recovery Beta experiences

So I was on a quest to flash some new unofficial ROMs that I found on Sourceforge (Potato A10, Potato A11 and some Indonesia ROM which name i forget already).
I was genuinely surprised with the quality of A10 Potato ROM so I want to try A11 version of the same ROM to see if the quality remain...
While trying to flash Potato A11 version, OFoxBeta unexpectedly interrupted flashing with some interesting (never before seeing) error message:
E3003: Can't install this package (Wed Jan 6 16:35:13 UTC 2021) over newer build (Sun Jan 10 21:38:54 UTC 2021).error: 3003.
Tried few times, same error pops out...
Didn't make a lot of sense to me, what is it complaining about (zip file wasn't corrupt, that I always check), so I tried it flash with older version of OFoxBeta004, but with the same error message. And since sometimes I'm stubborn enough for three I had to flash that ROM no matter what.
So then TWRP 3.5.0.0 tried to do what OFoxB (004) refused and guess what? It flashed that zip file just fine with no error whatsoever! Great TWRP delivers again! So full of expectations I rebooted ... and ended in fastboot mode ...
Ok, I am a big boy, I can deal with some loses on the field of flashing ROMs, so I tried to flash in TWRP that Indonesian ROM, TWRP of course flashed it like nothing, but that ROM didn't even boot, just freezed on the Poco logo...
Than I tried reflash Potato A10 (I know that one can be flashed Ok, as OFoxBeta did), but this time in TWRP flashing ended with some weird error about dynamic partitions:
Failed to find partition vendor in dynamic partition metadata.
script aborted: assert failed: update_dynamic_partitions(package_extract_file("dynamic_partitions_op_list"))
Ouch.
Next no matter what I tried to flash next (either with TWRP or OFoxB (004) ) always ended with the same error about dynamic partitions...
I was able to recover my phone via flashing original Global ROM 12.0.7 recovery version, reflashing decrypted vendor of same level, etc and then was able to finally get back to my bellowed RR 8.6.5.
So, ladies and gents moral point here is: Trust your , it knows better (than you)! And I am really disappointed with TWRP error checking of what it is actually going to flash...
As I have A LOT of flash logs from today, I need some time and my PC to chew through them, if I find the error messages I will edit this post with extra info, so if you'll see that in the future in your , you'll know that that fight is already lost and you can probably save yourself a lot of trouble if you decide not to continue...
[Q is already lost and you can probably save yourself a lot of trouble if you decide not to continue...
