Hi everyone,
I have a moto z for a short time, and I suffer of overheating and lag.
After testing lot of things. I wonder if the encryption could be the reason why.
I know that with the Nexus 6, encryption could slow the phone. And I never activate it with my moto x style and moto x force and everything was OK.
Since the first day I encrypted my moto z.
But now, i couldn't remive it !
I had reset my phone two time (one with the settings menu in android and second with the recovery mode).
But nothing to do, encryption still stay.
Is there someone who know how to do ?
I'd like to know as well, but for me, it's because I want to install Halium and Plasma Mobile, but I'm not sure if they'll work with encryption in place.

So i bought the phone yesterday,i opened it and did the casual setup including setting up 10 times my finger on the scanner.
So by the time the phone was setted for first time there were official software updates poping and i clicked them to download and install...after the updates were done i found out that fingerprint sensor settings were missing (both lock screen and fingerprint & security section) so i did a factory reset hoping it was just a minor issue...After the factory reset the options were still missing...i got 5 days left to return the phone if there are problems and i want to know if anybody knows
1.is the problem software related and i just need to wait for official update to get fixed?(i heard december lg launches official nougat version for the G5)
2.is it hardware problem so i take the phone back for repair?(power button works perfectly)
i really loved the phone so far especially the camera and everything and i really want to enjoy it (my prev phone had a lot of software bugs and i never actually enjoyed full of it...)
anyone know any fixes?i dont want to get into custom rom again (i really like the lg ui for change) if its software problem
Thank you for your time!
i guess no one has the same problem and my device is faulty?
I would try and exchange it because I don't have this problem and if a factory reset didn't fix it it's probably a hardware issue.

my bad people,it was NOT LG's problem, hardware AND software are perfect, its my first phone with scanner and i found out the hard way that to add fingerprint i HAVE to add a pin or a different unlock method before adding figners....sadly i rooted my device firstly to add cyanogemod and then i found out...so now i lost my warranty i guess...but at least now i know and if anyone else finds the same ""problem"" this thread will help him
Lesson learned for you. Why install a custom ROM right out from the start? Based on my experienced with my G5. It's performance is great. All things are great. I'm fine even if my phone is not rooted nor can't install a custom ROM. Unlike my G2. But by so far the phone is running great. So enjoy first the things on stock firmware.

i didnt want to install custom rom as i already had in my prev device (oneplus x) and i always likes lgs skin on android
but i wanted to see if the problem was software issue that cyanogen could fix in this case...i wanted lgs support to be my last resort as their services are bad, they tend to take week(s) to fix the phone and i heard from people that their phone returned scratched (that lg supported claimed they didnt do it)...so yeah i prefered to install custom rom and risk that i have to live without fingerprint than send the phone and get it back deleayed and probably in scratched condition
lesson learned indeed
My friends ows Motorola Moto Z.
Phone has SD 820. While it had Android N it worked fine, but since Oreo battery started draining extrenely quickly. He gave me phone and asked me if I could do something. After playing with phone a bit I still could not find reason. I did all basic battery saving stuff I kbow but it almost did nothing. Today I randomly opened CPU Z and I couldnt believe what was going on. ALL cores were on, while nothing else was running on the phone (other than social apps he has, but those are only facebook and instagram). I remember when phone was on N it didnt turn big cores at all unless he played games. First thing I wanted to do is root but seems to be very hard on this phone, plus procedure might brick it on Oreo. Is there anything I can do? Note that task managers dont work on O, and theres no system one.
Any help is appreciated
Been a long time since I did much here, I loved loading custom ROMs and last did it frequently with a Nexus 5. Since i started using a Pixel 2 XL, though, I've stayed stock. I just bought a Moto E 5 from an eBay seller, though, knowing it had been Chinese stock and has had Play etc installed after leaving the factory by the eBay vendor. Seems to work fine but concerned about the bootloader (and the rest of the software), first screen is mostly black with a long code in white text that stays a while, before the "Hello Moto" startup animation.
I am considering finding a stock ROM if such a thing exists for this model, and nuking and reloading everything including bootloader, recovery, ROM, the lot.
Is this possible/a good idea for this device? Sorry for noob question, I'll likely explore the forum for whatever is relevant to this, but don't know quite where to start with this suspect bootloader question.
Thanks.
If you know what hardware does it have inside, you can try looking for the real device model (not "Chinese Moto E5") and from there find the stock ROM.
I can help you with that, if you want. Just send me a PM.

My phone all of a sudden sends me to the lock screen while it's in use. It could be playing a youtube video, playing a game or typing a whatsapp reply.
Before you tell me it's some lock assisting app; it isn't. It happens in safe mode as well, and it started happening about 2 years ago back when I used a Pixel 4. At the time I did use a lock assisting app (KinScreen, which is a wonderful app I wish I could keep using, but my phone locks me out of my device regardless of settings in mentioned app, so I discontinued it's use months ago).
Back with the Pixel 4 I reflashed OS's, I removed screen protectors, I discontinued use of cases, I factory reset the device.... Eventually I gave up and just live with it. I upgraded to an unlocked Pixel 6 (and I'm patiently waiting for the 6a, hoping it's a bit smaller since I don't like these large phones), and the problem came along with me.
This, to me, tells me the issue is linked to my account. Especially the fact that it still happens while in Safe Mode. It's hard to test since it's so random, but I have lived in Safe Mode for a few hours until I saw it happen twice and I decided this problem was beyond me and when I changed hardware and it kept happening.... I'm just at a loss.
I've googled this before, thinking it may be a pixel issue "Pixel 4 locks while in use", finding nothing.
It's worth noting this issue only happens to me with Pixel phones. I like testing phones and currently have a Samsung Galaxy Flip3 fully set up. This problem does not present itself in that phone.
It seems at this point, that if I want to use a Pixel phone, I'd need to either reset my google account entirely (which I've done before, back in 2013 or so, with a Nexus 4 after what was then Google Now had just messed up my preferences for news articles; and it was such an inconvenience I would rather not give that a try).
Removing the lock altogether does do the trick of course. "Smart lock" does nothing for me. I use a pattern as a password and it's incredibly inconvenient. Have not tried switching to a pin but I don't have any reason to believe that would solve anything.
I genuinely don't think there's much I haven't tried, but perhaps someone else has already come across this issue and found out what was going on. I'd gladly try any and all suggestions I get and update this in the event of figuring it out.
I have found some people claiming to have a similar issue, none with a pixel phone, and none newer than 2015.
Thanks for reading.
TLDR; My phone locks while it's in use. Been happening across multiple phones (pixel 4, pixel 6), happens in safe mode as well.
Go into your Google drive on your PC, click on the current space used indicator on the left, click on backups that shows up on the right, and delete your backups.
I would then factory reset your P6 and start over. Drastic, but it should fix the issue.
Also, the 6a is likely to be the same size as the 5, i.e. not much smaller.

Probably a dumb question, because I just went there, and there is no Pixel 6 backup, there is, however, (4) Pixel 4 backups, as well as backups to my work phone (a definitely-too-small Palm phone): If I delete the backups, but don't factory restore the device in question, the backup will self-generate automatically within a few hours/days, correct?
So, at the very least I can delete it all to make sure there are no duplicate backups I don't need.
Correct. Delete the old backups and that probably will help.
I have an old Google Nexus 10, I've got some old custom rom on it that barely works,
the device itself was always pretty iffy (difficult to charge/dissipates quickly).
I have the notion that if I can find a better custom rom or just revert and update the darn thing,
that it might work for some casual desk use.
Since I had not remained active, I was hoping someone could make a suggestion for what I should install on it.
I dont need help doing it, I just need some names to try (Google Nexus 10, rooted and all that,
existing crap rom that occasionally works)
Also, is this device as big a hunk of garbage as it seems like (good at the time I suppose) or
am I just smacking around incorrectly? Srsly my phone is faster and its old too.
But thats a secondary Q, I really just want your distro/fw/rom suggestions for rescuing this device
into something usable.
I'll have to charge it for a good long while before it will boot up again, but I think its running optipop and something that starts with an L, it has a cool boot logo but often boot-loops. I've seen it boot-loop an entire full charge away when I left it alone to start up, other times it just works. Wanted to use it for android developing and desk tasks (clock, etc)
