I have OpenQ820 dev board which has Qualcomm Snapdragon820(APQ8096). which is hard bricked as I flashed custom emmc_appsboot.mbn. (curretly there is - No Fastboot, No recovery or adb, Only EDL mode is up)
As per my knowledge , there is aboot backup partition called as abootbak. Wondering how to make use of it to recover the board.?
or is there any other way to recover it.
Can anyone please help me with this.

Is your fastboot working ? If it is try going to edl from the link i'm giving you : http://en.miui.com/thread-290959-1-1.html
Also a guide for flashing through Mi flash : http://en.miui.com/thread-294318-1-1.html

use deep flash cable or test point mathed (google for it) and flash 8.2.4.0 global rom if you cant enter edl mod by deep flash cable and test point your emmc is dead by recovery backup by wrong twrp(not not correct twrp)
the boot file for redmin not 3 (kenzo-kate) is emmc_appsboot.mbn not boot.img file coming from your backup

Somebody has told me about deep flash cable, but first i have to install windows eh
So i need to update this thread, and probably close it.
After few hours, finally i did it. Phone is unbricked. I've done it without deep flash cable. I have unpluged battery, and connect phone to PC. Phone was recognized as Qualcomm 9008, and i flashed phone by MiFlash.
Hi im have a redmi note 4x and i cant flash anything and my phone are unusable (boot stuck).
I try whatever you can imagine, so i want remove all (and when i say all, say ALL) files in the devices with TWRP File manager and then try to flash intro EDL or something like that.
What can happend if i do that?
Have you triend the unbricked method that was already posted?
I have flash many device of Nikel including Unlocked bootloader. I didn't have a problem on that.
If your bootloader is unlock, try flashing all the partitione image from CMD
I solved the problem, just remove all partitions from /Dev/block/mmcblk0 (couse was corrupted)(with adb Shell) and flash a old miui version in EDL Mode
Hello to all,
I am trying to read my Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus partitions without root. I am familiar with SP Flash Tool for MTK devices and I am able to do this. Now I am trying something like SP Flash Tool for my Xiaomi Qualcomm based.
I tried MiFlashPro and MiFlash but both of them use recovery or fastboot method for flashing. I found that I can read partitions using adb with root privileges but I don't want to unlock bootloader and root my device. i would like just to read my partitions. I read /etc/partitions using adb and then I prepared my partitions likst with emmc offset values for each of them but I cannot read partitions with dd if I am not root. Is it possible that there is no tool that can read emmc without booting into flashboot or recovery?
Thank you.
I used fastboot to delete all partitions (boot, recovery, userdata, system) using the command fastboot erase 'partion' . (Sent the phone for repair to a shady dealer (Screen Replacement) and wanted to ensure that they could not install any software on it without me noticing.)
My plan to recover the phone is to flash TWRP, boot to TWRP and restore the boot partition from a previous backup. Then I'll be able to flash a ROM and use the phone normally.
The only thing that bothers me is the possibility that I might not be able to boot into the recovery due to the missing boot partition. Can someone clear it up? I've looked on XDA for someone with the same problem and the only thread that was close was someone who deleted the boot partition and could no longer see their device on adb. (I can see the device listed when I run fastboot devices)
Can I download the boot partition and flash it through fastboot? If so, where can I find the boot partition. (Keep in mind that I have a TWRP backup which has the boot partition but would require me to boot into the recovery in the first place) Also, is there any specific command that I can use to flash the boot partition?
Also, I do not currently have the phone in hand so that I can try the method I listed above. If someone could clarify whether or not the method is working and if not provide an alternative method would be a great help.
Bootloader is unlocked. (IDK if that matters anymore.) I have ADB, TWRP img file and a backup.
Cheers.
you can flash using 9008 mode which doesn't require any partition

Thanks.
But you didn't answer my question. Will I be able to boot into TWRP and restore the boot partitions using a backup?
I am talking about the commands
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-x-x-x.img
or
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-x-x.img
Also, can you link to a post explaining how to use 'Qualcomm 9008' mode?

I have a problem.
I have managed to put the phone in EDL mode and with the help of IDT v2 temporarily unlock the bootloader. In this mode I had managed to flash twrp and boot to it successfully. Through twrp and adb I have hex edited the nvme file (guide ) to try and unlock the bootloader for good.
Unfortunately, the phone now can't boot into recovery mode. Only fastboot mode (with locked or unlocked bootloader -through IDT-) is accessible now. Flashing from the fastboot mode (with temporarily unlocked bootloader) is being reported as successful but the phone can't reboot into recovery.
Is there a way to successfully boot into twrp in this state?
Any and all suggestions are welcomed!
Thank you in advance!
To be honest, there are some ways, let's do some simple questions first.
Did you try flashing twrp again?
- if yes and it still don't work, try to extract an stable firmware recovery, erecovery with firmware extractor and try to flash it clean, do an recovery boot try and flash twrp again
Is the erecovery still intact?
- if yes try to recover the phone and retry you whole journey, if this don't work but the recovery can start u need to learn some things and Google them. Before i explain anything its better to learn from sources. Google following things: dload, extracting huawei firmware updates, huawei adb commands. If you are willing to do the dload method u need a usbc to a adapter and an usb stick. A few bucks but any cable will work. At team mt u get the update, extract a complete update and place it into dload, boot erecovery and hopefully it will recover anything. After that twrp and so on. Always double check adb protocols and cables. If anything happens while flashing u will brick the recovery. And u need to redo the erecovery thing.
I'm not that active but hopefully it will help
