So I officially hate the battery life in the XT912. It lasts only about 5 hours a day. Any tips on conserving battery? I was thinking of buying an external one to carry with me so I can charge it in my pocket.
I get wonderful battery life on my maxx and you can't carry a spare battery considering the razr's is nonremovable

For conserving battery life: turn down brightnesa, turn 4gLTE off and use only 3g, disable background or automatic syncing to name a few

Turning down brightness helps a lot more than you might think. Every notch in that slider counts!
Also, lately, I've been limiting background processes to 4 at a time. It helped me get a few more hours of juice.
So far, my average has been about 30 hours of battery if idle (even with wi-fi on [I have really strong wi-fi reception, so that might help]) and 18 hours if constantly checking Facebook and Twitter.

Okay thanks for the reply! I'll try to keep the brightness down and use a task killer app

between 4:30 / 5 hours SOT with 1,5 / 2 days between charges, but I do turn off internet connection regularly
I've been getting 5 to 6 hours with some Bluetooth use, WiFi, mobile data and high brightness at times.
Four hours aprox.

took it down from 100% to 1% and was just over 6hrs SOT. couldn't be happier at the moment ?
how is your signal strength and what carrier do you have?
My most recent battery charge shows 5hrs of SOT with 2 hrs straight gaming in King's raid and about 40 min of Google maps navigation and it's at 15% left.
Cell levels were fluctuating yellow to red for the first 3/4 of the charge but once i went downtown to work, it's all green. I'm with Verizon.
I've been really impressed so far - pushing 7 hours. Not the consistent 7.5 my short-lived S8+ got, but a huge step up from my Nexus 6P's 4 hours.
not bad

I am very happy with these numbers.

Yesterday, all day without charging.. Still 25% at the end of the day. When I finally plugged it in two hours later think I was around 23% battery.

Impressive stats for all. Getting mine ordered mine today.
I'm getting amazing battery life on this. Way better than the 3h on my Nexus 5 [emoji16]

easily hits 5.5 hours SOT with LTE usage full day and Location off.
Love the phone! Just need a custom ROM now
I can confirm that I'm getting good screen on time too. Around four and a half to 5 hours. This is a lot better than I was getting on my old Nexus 6p. So far I'm very impressed but will do further testing and post the results here.
Today is my second day with this phone... Got about 3 1/2 hours SOT with everything on and screen to full brightness. I assume you guys have brightness turned down and gps off?
Wow
After first full charge I'm blown away ?
My old S7E would have been well and truly on zero battery by now.
42 percent battery left and just over 5 hours SOT!!
This phone sips on the battery, battery life has been outstanding to say the least.

What's with the full brightness, I get blinded if brightness is pushed to the max
First day and first full charge, pretty impressive. Only downside is the camera is so bad compare to my old s7e.

This thing sips battery. Mind you this is mainly indoors but still it's up their with the best life I've ever gotten from a device with no effort on my part.

I have to say compared to my HTC U11 the battery life of the Essential is pretty impressive. I use Accubattery to monitor my battery and it gives estimates on SOT and the U11 was always at 8hr but this Essential is at 11hr. I know that will never happen but it does show the difference calculated by the app based on use.
Right now I'm at 4hr SOT and 52%. Very impressive.

What apps you have running? Also what is your awake to screen ratio? Might have some apps in the bg eating your battery.
My brightness is at 50% with bt disabled, location on. I get around 6-7 SoT bout 1.5 hrs of gaming and an hour of YouTube
GPS on. I've never used a phone at max brightness. All my devices are set at 30%, with adaptive brightness on. Bt on also.
my phone old 1week. terrible battery life. always on screen 1hour.. from 90% to 73% i used phone for messenger a little bit, facebook little bit and you can see status battery. tell me what to do... battery cant live for 10 SOT...... when i see in youtubes videos ,9 SOT... and the brigtness is always set from test you see and i dont pull lower or highter brightness on the test.... and i turn off 4g internet and i used 3g
hello , you need root or adb to enable extended battery stats for example from this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm , and DELETE/DISABLE FACEBOOK it would kill any battery no matter what capacity
Look like a defective product to me. if you just unboxed it a week ago, you better off returning it and get a replacement.
---------- Post added at 02:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:02 AM ----------
oh by the way, you shouldn't root the phone just yet, it make it harder to return.

Been using the Mi A2 (4gb/64gb) for 2 days now. 70% will give you about 4 hours+ screen on time. So i'm expecting to last comfortably till 5 hours. Battery drain is good, slept for 10 hours and lost 6%, screen did not turn on anytime during that period.

Here my battery usage.
I'm impressed!!!

For the above screenshots, I fully charge it in the evening a day before. I bought the device 3 days ago. Can only measure the battery life after finished setting up to my likings. I think the battery will be better after few full cycles. Today is my 2nd full cycle to test after fully charge it last night.
Add:
4+ hrs SOT on 50% battery usage
I fully charged the device last night. I'm on 35% right now with 2:30 Screen on Time.
I have no idea how you guys manage 5h+

Without knowing what apps you are using the SOT value alone is not saying much
how do you guys get those insane screen on times? I get maybe a max of 3.5
I have gps always on, and mobile data but it alternates with my home wifi.
I really do not get it. Before i have a redmi note 3 and a redmi 5 plus and i never broke the 4.5 h mark. It's only because of the GPS and data?
Edit: I'm going to post a screenshot at the end of the day with my SOT

How is your cellular reception? Do you usually have good signal? Bad signal can cause a lot of battery drain
well, this has always been a problem, I even changed carriers this year.
it sucks that in oreo you can't see the reception signal chart anymore
I play much games, dragon nest and mobile legend. I got 3hrs sot only.
