Resurrecting old Huawei Mediapad / Orange Tahiti - ROM Image anyone? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi forum members, so when my Huawei Mediapad failed afew months ago I bought a used Orange Tahiti (is a mediapad in different clothing) to replace it not realising it would be locked to Uk Orange network.
So I requested and paid for an unlock code which I received, but it did not work and I'm told because I updated the firmware from android 3.2. to 4.0.3.
So I want to get it back to the original Orange firmware (they won't provide it btw) so i can try that unlock code again.
So some questions if you could help answer all or even one or two please:-
1. Anybody got a OEM/ STOCK - ROM / FIRMWARE for the Orange Tahiti they can send me please, even make a copy from their Tahiti to send? I understand it may be referenced S7-301u V100R001C237B017 (UK Orange)(05010UYB) but the link within the XDADev site does not work.
2. Now assuming i am lucky enough to get a copy of this ROM, other than updating I'm a little unclear on how to go back, can somebody advise me please? I assume i'll need to instal some rom manager tool so hence my next question...
3. Is anyone able to give me a brief and simple overview of how roms and android devices boot and from where, i.e. What is a bootloader, what is fastboot mode, how does Clockworkmod fit in please?
4. I did locate a version of android 3.2. NOT THE ORANGE ONE I Want, and tried to flash the mediapad via the rom on an SD card dload folder but it just gave a "FAIL" notice on screen
Ok so thanks for listening and hopefully this reaches out to somebody who has that Orange Rom image.

ROOT request for Alcatel POP 2(4.5)

I know that this handset is not release yet but I'd like to know if there would be support for it from the community. I'm excited about it because I've been waiting for a handset that seems to meet all my niche requirements:
Medium size screen (4.5")
ARMv8 instruction set (Snapdragon 410)
Removable battery (According to quick set up manual)
MicroSD slot (full size SD would have been nice but this is good enough)
Dual Sim (not sure if it will be available in the UK though )
I know the screen is not the best and it probably won't support Qi charging but I don't think any other handset has all the aforementioned features. I'm not trying to sell the handset but this is in anticipation of posts like "why not get a Nexus" or "just get a Moto G"
It's a nice phone, I bought one for my wife
This one is not available in my region. I got the Y550 instead for a relative. Almost the same spec. Not sure about IO performance though as I didn't have time to check.
Solution?
So, I was searching Google for OT 5042 root (the internal name of Alcatel OT Pop 2 or Orange Roya (NOS Roya in Portugal)), and I've found these instructions on a russian forum. I have not tested them myself, but they do seem very legit, so if anyone who knows exactly what he's doing or has no fear of losing the phone can follow it up.

Root dual SIM Alcatel Alcatel OneTouch 5042D POP 2 smartphone
Author: ruslan_3_ from 4pda.ru
Procedure:
1. Download the attached .zip file and extract it to some folder on your computer.
1.1. Install the phone's adb drivers (not needed under Linux or OS X; Windows drivers are available on the phone as a CD-ROM);
1.2 Copy update.zip to the root of your phone's internal memory or SD Card (one of the two may not work, and there is different feedback regarding this issue)
2. Turn on USB debugging
3. Turn on the phone in fastboot mode (press and hold both power and volume down buttons);
3.1 Connect the phone to your computer and wait for the drivers to finish installing (when applied);
4. Open a command prompt where you first extraced the files and type:
HTML:
fastboot -i 0x1bbb devices
It will list all devices connected to the computer on fastboot mode, for example a409dc4d.
6. Install CWM Recovery:
HTML:
fastboot -i 0x1bbb flash recovery image-new.img
7. Enter recovery mode (power + volume up)
8. Install update.zip
Once again, please be very carefully when executing this procedure. It can go really wrong.
If you're using Mac or Linux, paste the specific android SDK tools in the extracted folder and run fastboot with the command ./fastboot if you don't have an alias for it in your .profile or .bashrc (if you don't know what this is, ignore it ).
@imTos, Thanks for information, but you know if there is any custom rom (CM or MIUI) for this equipment, specifically for the version of the 5042A one SIM ??
Thank You ...
Regarding the root procedure, I was told on a portuguese board that it works for any 5042 model.

Hey. I am not aware of any alternative ROM currently on the Internet, especially since Alcatel has not released the phone's source code yet. What I do know, however, is that there are three ROMs for this device: Alcatel's original ROM (build 010 03 single/dual SIM), Orange ROM (single SIM) and the portuguese NOS ROM (build 010 06, single SIM). Between the three, as far as I know, the portuguese one is the one that most ressembles AOSP w/ Google Play and with no bloatware installed by default, from what I've seen in pictures. I don't know if it is possible for the users of the different ROMs to make NANDroid backups and share them online, though it wouldn't be a full help. Keep in mind that both chinese and russian ROMS, from what I've read (and I have no way to confirm if this is true or not!), have a function to report stolen phones, and this text messages a foreign number if you're living outside these countries.
Offtopic: I waste more time trying to guess the captcha than replying to a post. Google, where's the new noCaptcha function?

i will apreciate it a lot. thanks in advance
I've asked for a backup in many online communities, but no luck. As I said, I didn't try the method myself since I didn't need to use root yet and my phone is still under warranty. Sorry.

Are you sure that can be restored By mobile upgrade?
if bricked : recover phone using Alcatel official tool
Mobile Upgrade Q 4.6.8 Setup.rar
goto http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/products/smartphones/pop_2-4-5.html
and select the "Support" tab, there download
Mobile Upgrade Q 4.6.8 Setup.rar
link:
http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/glob...OP_2-4-5/otu/mobile-upgrade-q-4-6-8-setup.rar
unrar, start and select 5042D, connect phone via USB cable, start flashing
I had my Pop 2 bricked (eternal boot loop) but got it back to life, 100%

in the "russian" tutorial they tell you to copy "update.zip" to your SD card - that did not work for me !
- on the external card cwm did not find the file.
instead update.zip was only found once it was on the INTERNAL SD card !!
Hey guys.
I've found very useful information like stock recovery, stock images, and user custom images for this device on the same board I found the root method. I still haven't had the courage to root my device, though, and I feel kind of an hypocrite because of it, but this is my only phone, and if something had gone wrong I would have no money to buy a new one. I know I'm not the only one in this situation, and I do feel really bad for not helping users that have requested for my help.
I need to know if Mobile Upgrade Q can recognize the device and reinstall the ROM if anything goes wrong. To those who had any problem, was it able to fix it? Were you using stock recovery or CWM when you tryed it (I'm not sure if this is relevant)?
I will update this board (or create a new one?) regarding this device with useful information I've found online, and since stock recovery is already available (that was the main reason I didn't root in the first place (warranty)), I will provide a (not rooted) factory image of the custom build 010 06 when I have time to do so.
hey buddy
i restore my to thr original rom with mobile q. but looks like i upgrade the firmware, and now i cant root again, because i cant put in fastboot "vol - + pwr".
Which exactly build do u have ?

Hi, I have bricked my phone. I tried to restore with Mobile Upgrade and with a Backup from CWM that I did, but with no result.
I would like you did a backup with the last version of TWRP, all partitions and upload:
Download, install like CWM: https://mega.co.nz/#!tQRzibAA!7tPkqlc1BYsvCCeQRzaqn_VVs959GBsleB_4eNVq9JE
Sources TWRP Recovery: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=645507&st=340#entry38938719

[Failure] Debrand with SRK Tool Huawei

After failing the Debrand following method [VDO-GUIDE] How to debrand Huawei Phone by SRK Tool Huawei by @somboons i'm asking some help or guidance regarding to fix this asap since this is my main phone
This was a C02B131 to C432B161 process
I'll explain (like i did in original thread [VDO-GUIDE] How to debrand Huawei Phone by SRK Tool Huawei):
Quoted:
"Hello,
My Huawei Update Extractor doesnt show P9 Plus in profile. Even if i choose "Unknown" the VERLIST.img code i get is VIE_C900B00 but i'm using C432B161 ROM, is this normal?
So here's the current situation:
Before this procedure i had already the C432B161 inside sccard dload folder.
After the OEMINFO part when phone restarted the normal orange text saying it was unlcked and might be untrustable were in RED and phone started like encripted - i coulndt to a thing but insert the encrypt code so >
> i restarted phone with vol down + power combo key thinking of TWRP but... wrong combo and phone started update the ROM i had already in DLOAD.
> All went OK (surprisly) and everything is working fine but the OTA.
> I moved sucessefull from C02B131 to C432B161 but no OTA"
Thanks!

The warranty is invalid just unlock bootloader
When the red text shows, just unlock bootloader again and repeat steps for installing twrp and root.
You don't actually need the update extractor, since you can just type in the version of VIE you'd like to transfer to. ( VIE-L29C185B152 example ). After that just flash the b152 ( or any other rom you've named in step 10 in SRK tool ) using sd card method. When you install stock recovery again you should be recieving OTA updates.

At the time i got so mad and frustrated that i moved to iPhone 7!
But... You know... Apple have those limitations that i'm not used to, like mirror to TV just by enabling a feature without having to buy a box to do it! The share system PC-over-PHONE etc etc...
So i'm wiling to go back to Huawei and i might get another P9 Plus or Mate 9, still deciding.
But really thanks for the time you spent to reply me to try to solve some one else problem! Really appreciated.
By the way, does P9 Plus operator variants will get Nougat? Couldn't find the confirmation anywhere.
Ah, backstabbing android ?
Yes the Nougat update is coming soon! As official huawei page and chat said to me. It is ought to happen this month so i am eagerly awaiting for it every day. I would strongly suggest you go for a Mate, that is my wish also. Also, you could stick with that bitten apple for a couple of months and grab a Huawei P10 that is also coming with + suffix let's say somewhere in april, may, like the P9 did last year.
Cheers mate, all the best luck in returning to android family ?

Transfer EVERYTHING from one phone to another

Hello there, I have two Huawei Mate 2 (MT2-L03) and one of them is in a bootloop (I was trying to update to lollipop but forgot to unlock bootloader), the other one has Lollipop update and is working (but it has the screen all cracked, in some parts you can't read and speakers don't work). I tried searching in this forum on how to take it out of the bootloop and I didn't find any answers, now I can't get the bootloader unlock code from Huawei because they are asking for the phone ID and I can't access it with the phone like that.
My question is, is there a way to copy all storage from one phone to another or swap it? Because I thought that in that way I could fix the phone (the one in Bootloop). Remember they are both from the same model.

I managed to get my new phone, Honor 8, bricked. How can I fix this?

I'll keep this short, as I don't want to waste anyone's time. 2 days ago I installed an OTA update on my Honor 8 while I had TWRP installed. I didn't know it was a red no-no when I did that and I now regret it.
I've looked for help on reddit but that got me nowhere as there are not that many Android support subreddits and the existing ones are not that active. I know that I have to flash my phone with the right firmware, but I can't seem to find the right one, as there are many different versions, such as OTA updates, FullOTA, as well as the region code. Then there's the issue of flashing. Every kind of unbricking video I've watched, flashes the firmware of their device using an SD card. I don't have a microSD card reader, so I don't even know how I'll get the firmware on it. I'd prefer to use something like adb platform tools to flash the firmware, but if it isn't possible that way, I guess I'll buy an SD card and use someone else's setup to move the firmware.
My phone's model number is FRD-L09, it was running Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.0. I don't know the region code, but I bought the device from an UK supplier, but on the back of the phone's box, it says Huawei Technologies (Netherlands).
Any kind of help would be greatly greatly appreciated!!
