How to copy a file from /config/sdcardfs/ directory.? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.i would like to copy 3 files from /config/sdcardfs/ folder.but Everytime I copy them in es explorer it always denies permissions. I also changed permissions of the folder.but still no change in outcome.can anybody tell me how to copy that file?

I think it's need root access, do you give it permissions?
If it's not the problem, maybe you want to try using pull commands from your pc using adb.

try using adb pull.
Code:
adb pull /config/sdcardfs/ C:\sdcardfs

[Q] Trying to replace a system apk

Hi,
I'm attempting to replace Email.apk on my miui rom. This is the method I am using:
Code:
adb push Email.apk /sdcard/
adb shell
su
rm /system/app/Email.apk
rm /system/app/Email.odex
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mmcblk0p9 /system
cp /sdcard/Email.apk /system/app
reboot
When the phone has rebooted, my changes do not take affect. To check, I pulled the /system/app/Email.apk back, and found it to be the original version.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?
Thanks,
Have figured this out...
adb appears to send some kind of cached version over. Renaming the file before transferring forced adb to use the correct file, and all is well.

You mean renaming the original file first to any name then copy the moded file with the original name ?
If that what u mean , so I better to delete the original one first then but enstead my moded file . Is that right ?

You'll get lots of FCs until you reboot the phone then it should be fine.

Replacing SystemUI.apk in ADB

So I flashed the wrong .zip and now SystemUI.apk is force-closing. Rather than reflash the ROM I'm just going to replace SystemUI.apk using adb (I happen to have the ROM unzipped on my laptop), but want to make sure I have the procedure right.
Reboot to recovery
Then
adb shell
su
rm system/app/SystemUI.apk
exit
And then to push the SystemUI.apk
just
adb push SystemUI.apk system/app/SystemUI.apk
reboot
Do I need to mount system as writable before all of this?
Yes I believe you do
You could put the system.apk into a flashable zip by itself and flash that tho
Less room for error

Now I'm wondering if the permissions will be all mucked up if I just push the file. Is there a way to set permissions in adb?
never mind, got it, chmod 644 system/app/SystemUI.apk
Worked too!

Adb remount will mount as rrw and you don't have to set permissions the folder already has it. You can also just use a root file explorer app to place it in their

Can't Root with SuperTool, Read-Only...

Hey there! About 2 months ago I first rooted my HTC Legend and unlocked my bootloader and ugraded it to hboot 1.02
I installed cyanogenmod 7.2 and all worked great. I have CWM 5.0.2.8 installed too. And supertool worked for me (zergling rushes commenced . I was also able to use eclipse for android to view my root files via the computer.
Well I cant do this anymore. I can only see my root files via the phone using Root Explorer Lite which I downloaded from the play store.
And supertool is giving me errors of read-only file system (see attached screenshot) and says pushing Superuser.apk, so it appears on my phone, I also opened it but I don't know what im supposed to do in there??
I just want to be able to access my root files via my computer. do I have to use eclipse or is there another program? what am I doing wrong here?
ATM im using a workaround where I copy files to my SD card and then using Root Explorer Lite I copy for instance ringtones to the system/media/audio/ringtones folder and that works. But I need a simpler method like drag and dropping files into this folder via my computer. How can I do this?
Thanks for you help!
You can try qtadb.

Curious as to actually know the need to use supertools when your already using a rooted rom?
I am so sure supertools was only needed to root a non rooted Rom, perhaps supertools stuffed it up....
Have you simply tried just using adb commands from cmd?
Perhaps your issue is the pc itself.
Maybe first is to try this:
Adb devices (proves phone and pc are connected).
Adb shell
Then type "su"
Then type "ls" (this gives file listing on device)
This is assuming you know anything about windows cmd, Adb and stuff like that.
Just some basics to get you started in trying to diagnose.
Hey, why not try restoring a nandroid backup you did earlier, you did do a backup yeah?

thanks this actually worked! i dont even know how/why but it did
i tried other programs like Droid Explorer or Android Commander but it didnt let me copy files to system/media/ or wutever. and it would say my phone isnt rooted.
i tried the cmd promt as ranger said with adb shell
i did the su and ls thing and it works (displays dir/files list) but thats not the problem, the problem is when i type something like this:
chmod 777 media/
and it says it cant change permissions cuz its read-only file system, the same reason supertool didnt want to work. i wan my zergling rush!!!
seriously this is weird

Es works. You need to go to settings-tools-root explorer-mount R/W and mount system as writeable

Crash could happen because you don't have enough memory. I did it for some system files on my phone and it always worked fine. But I always deleted the files I wanted to replace first

I would imagine adb would be your best option

Oh GOD seriously?
Man you cannot replace the WHOLE system in any way except from recovery or bootloader...........NO ADB NO ES NOTHING will work.
ADB is feature that relies in the system of android. And when replacing the WHOLE system, the files needed for adb to work cannot change as they are in use, or if they change your phone will crash.
You can in no way change necessary system files while android is booted up beacause they are in use. Your whole operating system is in /system. Only recovery or bootloader will do.

Im pretty sure you can't. ADB commands does not work in fastboot and vice-versa. ADB only works in Android environment AFAIK. Though you can use fastboot flash commands and not adb push....
Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, as long as they are not needed for the system to function properly. You can replace them with ES or Push them via ADB with root access.
