Hardware requirements for upgrading to a new android version - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just wanted to know that what are the hardware requirements to upgrade to a new android version , lets say lollipop..
My phone has 4gb interñal memory and 780mb ram , is that enough to run lollipop (im running on kitkat now) , If yes than how much memory will be left after upgrading to lollipop?

It's not hardware matters, as long as latest ROM available for your device, then go for it. If you're mentioning stock rom, it depends on your manufacturer that releasing firmware upgrade or not.
May I ask what are you trying to achieve?

I don't think that's how it works, System partition different each device, it's not fixed. Idk, but usually it takes 20-30% of internal storage for system partition.
Moreover, unless you already altered your system partition, you shouldn't worry about that.. Lets rom handle system partition automatically. Another option you can use external sdcard for extra storage, I admit 4gb is to small for int storage.

Emulate Newer Android (Marshmallow) on old Android (Jelly Bean) ?

I have a still reasonable 1,5 Ghz quad-core device with 1 Gb RAM and 32Gb internal memory that is stuck with Android 4.2.2. There are some apps (nothing CPU intensive) that I cannot install anymore because they require newer Android versions.
Is there any way I can emulate a newer android version?
Some virtualization app like Parallel Spaces but that allows me to virtualize a separate android version instead of just cloning the current one?
Hi! Can you send me theJelly bean 4.2 update and mcu files please?

It is unlikely to work without knowing your model. But for my BQ with mediatek MT6589 Turbo this is the firmware link: https://s3.amazonaws.com/tabletfirm..._Elcano2_QuadCore_1.0.0_20131219-15.50-FW.zip
As alternative, download this custom rom: http://droidcustom.blogspot.com/2015/10/romofficial442-mystic-os-for.html

Help updating tablet's OS.

Good Evening/Hello/Hi,
I own a Huawei MediaPad 10 Link Plus(16 GB) and I am running stock OS (Android 4.2), unrooted. I am a total stranger when it comes to upgrading OS through bootloader, but I have successfully rooted a phone once, a very long time ago ( but I had no idea what it did and I don't remember how) . So I would like to ask for help on how to upgrade tablet's OS to the newest version that is possible on this device ( I mean it's got 1 gig of ram and a quad core cpu, we can get more juice out of it can we?). I can find a bunch of useful information here, but it seems I am having a hard time finding specifly what I need to accomplish my task. I know that the newest version that's officially possible is Android 4.2, but an unofficial version can be even higher right? The stock OS seems to be super laggy and filled with bloatware and an ugly UI.
I would like that the new OS would be as close to stock Android as possible.
Thank You
I tried to find a custom ROM, but it seems as if there are none really. I also read somewhere that it is not possible to even root the device, so you may have hit a bit of a roadblock. The best thing you can do is install a custom recovery and try to build your own ROM (I know, I know). You'd have to do quite a bit of work since there aren't many files available out there for the device.

Samsung A10s Android 10 Update

Hi maam/sir, good evening!
I'm here again to ask a new question.
I just got some notification avout installing android 10 for Samsung A10s one ui core 1.1
Is it safe to install android 10?
Does installing android 10 can erase ueer data?
Samsung A10s non rooted 32GB android 9 one ui core 1.1
Thanks guys!
@Need help very urgent
Moving from Android 9 to Android 10 is an upgrade, not an update. Don't think Samsung offers such an upgrade for free.
If you're already on Android 10, then Samsung offers you an OTA ( Android 10 OS patch ) what can get accepted: it doesn't affect device's user-data, they remain untouched by this update.
So you mean by upgrading to android 10 can cause data loss?
First off good day to you all so I hard reset my galaxy a 10 u and now it won't read any sim card do I need to install an sd card driver?? Thanx for your time [email protected]

That might occur ( swiping all internal data ), but not everytime. Hence keep backup of all your data before you flash your device

Slow cramped SONY M4 (E2303) 8MB Android 6.0.1 What to do? should I update to Android 7?

Hi everyone my problem is a Slow cramped SONY M4 Android 6.0.1 (E2303) 8mb What to do? update Rom? from what I'm reading different things from its possible to use the latest version of Android to its highly risky compared to other phones like my old Galaxy 5 mini, that thanks to you guys I was able to update and continue using until its hardware gave up. If I could just get rid of the bloatware but I can't delete or transfer it to sd, yes this phone promised so much and delivered little!
Kind Regards
CODTC
go to settings and then to the memory page. if it shows 1GB or less your motherboard is broken and needs proper micro-soldering repair but if it shows 2GB then you should reflash the os

I'm glad your M4 aqua's board is still fine but mine is broken and I haven't had time to replace it yet but first of all, I already said that try to reinstall the whole stock OS on your phone with Xperia companion and if it's still slow after that then you should try a custom ROM and it's your choice what version of android to use on it but the stock Rom has 2 versions android 5 and android 6 but I guess Xperia companion can only reinstall android 6, OH and the Xperia m4 officially supports up to 6 that you already know
