How can you extract the radio image from an official Sony ROM? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With other ROMs (e.g. Nexus devices, you simply download the official zip which contains the various images: system, vendor, kernel, RADIO, etc.)
Using Xperifirm to download an official Sony ROM, you get a folder full of crappy SIN files ...
How can one get a flashable radio.img?

u don't need one

This is not Q&A thread. Don't post question at here.

how to customize a self-rom for T4242

hi, all,
I have downloaded a ROM of version 6.5 23506 ROM from xda, and a Iolite_RK tool too, but when i decompressed the rom, it only includes a sys folder and in this folder, no any other sub-folders except a .ROM is found. while some instructions say a .VM folder and a OEM folder should be included.
how to do it?
this depends on your base ROM.
you cannot get files sorted by packages if there are no dsm files in your ROM. almost all custom ROMs have no dsm files included.
try to decompress original official htc ROM and you will see how it works.
you can start htc update installer and it will create .nbh file in your temp folder. copy this file and play with it.
=)
ibmcom: Cooking custom ROM is not as easy as you think. There are plenty of tutorials here on xda forums. Read them and you will understand, how it works.
thks.
to serfer222:
where can i find the "htc update installer" files/program?
to torrentonly:
i have seen the dificulty. i have read some tutorials in Chinese forums, and i found lots of resoureces come from xda, so i also downloaded one wwe rom as the base kitchen.
how did you start from the first one? a official rom?
search the forum. it's in the next thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522934
I mean any official installer works fine.
ibmcom: Official ROM is a must, because you need to have all base essential files, like drivers, etc. to match your device. Extract some official ROM using some visual kitchen (I am using one from ervius). After that, just try to cook it without any changes and flash your device (after HardSPL of course). If all will goes without problems, you can try to change some EXT packages and so on. The last step and most difficult (well not really, because developed tools make all much easier) is porting of XIP.
If you will succeed with all of this, you can play much more with you ROM, like deleting and editing some files from OEM and SYS. Good luck!
For your reference, here's the dumped file of Dopod_T4288 ChinaUnicom stock ROM:
Part00
Part01
Part02
Edit: Now I've made it into a flashable ROM, you can download it from this link:
RUU_signed_Iolite_Dopod_T4288_ChinaUnicom_Stock_ROM_1.13.706.2_Language_CHS_0804_NoRadio.7z
HTC TOUCH CRUISE 09 IOLITE T4242, 多普达T4288 中国联通定制原厂ROM, 基于HTC英文原厂ROM重建。
The ROM is Chinese language. Version is 1.13.706.2, original dated 29th of Apr. 2009.
It is made from the dumped raw files, base on HTC Asia WWE 1.11.707.1 Official ROM.
your given links are aimless.
i downloaded a english version. i am trying for serveral days, but no progress.
The aim is: You must have a Chinese stock ROM if you want to cook a Chinese ROM.

Stock ROM archive??

So, apparently Sony does not host anything but the very latest versions of the firmware files for download. Which is a damn shame. And I'm having trouble coming up with a canonical XDA archive thread for past versions of Z5c firmware. Is there a site out there being maintained by anyone with a comprehensive archive of past firmwares??
Also, I remain a bit confused about what the reason is behind sharing firmwares as FTFs. Why not zip up the FILE_SET downloaded direct from Sony and distribute that? One can always re-create their own FTF from those files, but I don't think you can go the other way. So information gets lost when people share FTFs instead of the original files.

Questions about firmwares

Hello fellow members,
I try to understand more thoroughly the firmwares for our devices, and I have some questions :
Can someone explain the differences between the CM13 and CM14.1 firmwares ?
I have a Kate, can I simply extract the files from official MIUI firmware and replace them from a CM13/14.1 firmware zip ?
Should I use only the files from a version of MIUI ROM, or can I mix them ? (e.g: use a newer radio but keep an alder trust zone file)?
Also, can someone explain the purpose for each files inside the zip ?
Just flash the latest firmware.
That's not the answer I expect.
I want to understand differences between all these versions, especially why there is newer CM13 than CM14.1 firmwares.

Guide flash Generic Google Gsi directly on Redmi note 7 pro violet

Hello Guys after trying many roms I felt like making one for communtiy
But I didnt want to make it from scratch when google is already doing a great job
of directly proving system.img
So what I did was collected Best of all vendor and major required files for booting. Including Always on Display my favourite.
And made a Flashable Zip of that specific files, images, patches etc.
So yes this best vendor can be used on any GSI FILES which you may want to boot.
This is basically a best Suitable vendor for major roms and specific for all Google Android Roms, I will be updating it when needed
For now,
All you need to do is Install this Zip
Flash System.img (whichever you like generic or Pixel or Other Oem)
Mount system and Vendor
Flash Patch 1 & 2
Reboot System, setup everything
Install latest gms as and when available
Connect to PC (optional) and give commands provided. For best results.
Hope this is exhaustive guide

Q. Why didnt you give whole rom.zip instead of such pieces
A. Because this is only for advanced users , noobs stay away. This is specially made to cater this user who will flash latest GSI images from google and dont have to wait for other Devs to make rom for them. Basically you have PixelUI with minimum bugs.
Q. Can I use other GSI With this vendor
A. As per my research and flahsing experience with this vendor I can say major boots so dont know about others.
Q. Will you support This Project
A. Yes I will and since its not difficult to flash gsi when available theirs no support needed
Q. I want support in sense how to flash and bugs
A. Youre idiot If you ask so since already said this is GSI not Rom bugs are from GSI you flashed so we cant solve. Though patches will be released when available

Question about android .img rom modding

Hi!
I am new to modding, so forgive me if this is a noob question;
Is there an easy way to incorporate a small .zip update file into an existing Android rom .img file?
To be more precise:
I have created a custom rom for a Tanix tx3 mini android box using an existing rom and editing with the AMLogic CustomizationTool.
The clock on the device is not working and requires a small patch/update/fix, this patch is already available in a .zip file that has to be flashed using twrp after installing the rom.
Is there an easy way, just using the pc, to add this .zip patch into the .img file?
