Updated to Nougat, no 4G+ icon anymore. - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I dont know if it has anything to do with the update, but i updated it recently and i have noticed that the phone dont show 4G+ icon anymore, only 4G.
I live in an area where it is GOOD signalstrength on 4G+, and my Galaxy S8+ is showing 4G+., but not my V10.
Running speedtest it shows "4G+ speeds" at around 120Mbps.
Anyone?

Hi,
Witch variant of Lg V10 do you have?
As my experience with lg H960A i see difference behavior between Turkey and Europe version. In fact with Eu version my phone shows 4G+ sometimes, the Turkey one show 4,5G, think the same things as 4G+, @ND connected every time like a charm.

Someone a while back posted here on xda a file which I believe was radio (modem) from Turkey firmware. The person claim it's working on the Europe release.

On Marshmallow I had 4G+, but now I don't have it anymore. At least the icon.
Is it the Nougat update or something else?
I have the European version H960A

Turkey nougat lg's stock version has some issues as the radio Fm and the english language is set by default and can't be changed in the second screen but gps and network are more best than Eu version.
Europe version are complete and as i undertand you are discovering all the issues.
I test them and i turn back to turkey version

Not quite sure if I understand. Is it the Nougat update or not? What can i do to get the 4G+ icon back?

H3G UK/ Three UK LG G5

Hi,
does any one have the 3UK LG G5...and is rooted?
I'd like to obtain the carrier customisation folder to enable VOLTE, any help from the members would be appreciated.
Radii
does anyone know if you can flash a sim free LG G5 with 3 UK firmware so you can enable VoLTE and Wifi Calling?

Hi,
Is it biggy7 from digital forums, digital spy? You can flash a sim free LG G5 with 3 UK firmware--- no problem- it won't enable VoLTE and Wifi Calling.
It needs some system level work (which I can potentially do)....if I could obtain an 3 UK LG G5...

Did you buy a phone that was already from H3G / Three, or did you flash a Three ROM?
Thanks
Must be from 3UK. Euro open don't have this option enabled...
It should be possible to enable WiFi Calling via ADB, AFAIK the parameters are wfc_ims_enabaled & wfc_ims_mode.
I wondered if radek15 has flashed a H3G RoM or is using a standard RoM on H3G / Three.
You need more than that...
I got LG G5 H850 from ee and wifi calling working on ee sim only because configuration files don't allow to use in other network. If you will edit them it should works. Also I got lg V30 euro open and wifi calling don't work on this one because this option is disabled in euro open lg phones, even that wifi calling option is still acrive on my sim.
There is a thread in V30 and G7 sections how to make it working, but you need to root.

Thanks, so I could buy a G5 used on EE with WiFi calling & it would work on H3G WiFi Calling with some config mods?
Any chance you could post a link from V30 or G7 sections that have the right info?
Not sure if this will work that way. It maybe worth to try flash euroopen oreo to any branded h850. When I flashed my lg g5 ee, I have blotware from French orange and Romania Vodafone, but looks like necessary files was there, just a matter to turn on in hidden menu. Unfortunately I didn't try on my ee sim.

Thanks for the link, it looks complicated! Does your G5 now work on H3G?
No, after updating to the oreo from ee it only allows for wifi calling for ee sim.
I've been using Samsung phones for a while now but am interested in the G5 because of the camera & WiFi calling. For Samsung phones, there are plenty of stock RoMs from various vendors on sites like sammobile. Is it the same for the LG G5, is there a list somewhere?

Thanks, will take a look through.
I now have a G5, unlocked from Virgin UK. I flashed the Three Oreo firmware from lg-firmwares.com but the WiFi Calling does not work with a Three SIM in the phone. I also get lots of messages on boot like "Current version is not available for user. can't find matched cust for NT-code mcc/mn". I found that the messages are quite well known when flashing different firmware - this thread has a few pointers https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/current-version-available-user-matched-t3438370
I'll try the Euro firmware and see what happens. I've also downloaded the Virgin firmware & ordered a VM SIM for testing. If the Euro firmware works, I'll probably not try the VM firmware.
Update:
I flashed the "H85030a_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0910.kdz" firmware but could not see any options for turning on WiFi calling, but I did get the Orange & VF bloatware. Enabling via ADB also did not have any effect. Not sure what is meant by "the necessary files"?
After problems with SuperSU preventing the phone from booting, I had to re-flash, this time with Virgin firmware. Will see what happens with the VM SIM.
Some progress of sorts ...
With the OREO H3G RoM, there were a couple of messages on boot related to the NT-Code not matching, so I tried the RoM quotes in post #6 which is Nougat. The Hidden Menu SVC / VOWiFi section shows that WiFi calling is set to 1, in ADB I can see that wfc_ims_enabled=1 Both settings were off in OREO.
However, still no menu options for WiFi Calling in the call dialler, WiFI settings or mobile settings. Hopefully Radek15 will return at some point and say what else needs to be done. wfc_ims_mode was set to 1 (cell preferred) so I changed it to 2 (WiFi preferred) but no joy.
Well, after a couple of weeks messing around trying things I found in various threads I have given up trying to get WiFi calling to work, for now. The closest I got was with the H3G Nougat ROM where I'm fairly sure the VOLTE was working while using my Three SIM. With the Three Oreo ROM it won't even do that, no luck either with Open EU ROMs. I now have my G5 on an Oreo Three ROM with Exposed and a few other tweaks and Apps so it's a long way back to start again and a faff to backup & restore. I think the key may be with the NT-Code & Cust-Code which are embedded in the device rather than changing config files in the /cust folder. Anyone with better success than me, I'd be happy to learn!

Am i hampered by having the chinese Redmi 5 plus?? Help please...

Ok, sorry about this bit of a noob (and the MIUI forums are a bit sarcy) you guys are usually helpful..ok, i bought a redmi 5 + from ebay, it came as the chinese model i.e MEE7 (not MET7 or MEG7) now when i boot up it says 'unlocked' under the Mi logo and there's a unlocked padlock symbol, the MIUI version is Global 9.5 Stable 9.5.11.0 (NEGMIFA) which i received as an OTA (so i assume i can get OTAs for this phone even though it's Chinese?)...now i've been told that i can't get band 20 (via MIUI forums and said i was ripped off) after checking on LTE discovery i'm on band 7 (i'm in the UK and with EE and i seem to get 4G+) is band 20 that important? how can i check what bands this phone has got? is band 20 faster? on net velocity i get 35.25mps download and 19.72mps upload., is this ok?..also will i be hampered in anyway with regards to future updates, including Oreo and MIUI 10...any help would be great guys, and cheers for helping a noob.
See.:good:
Band 20 is an issue in some countries where it is used more, and not in others. Don't know about the UK, but it is being rolled out more and more across Europe.
It's important because it's a low frequency band for good coverage both outdoors over a long range and deep indoors. This is the band that also gives you the good converge inside of the buildings.
Higher frequency bands have more capacity. Lower frequency bands have better coverage.
You shouldn't be missing anything else. Your phone should update fine with the global rom.

Ok cool, so i'm not crippled by the fact it's a chinese model then (as it updates fine via OTA) by the way how can i check what bands are on this phone?? the apps i've tried just tell the band being currently used (in my case 7) but nothing tells you what is available (on Mediatek you can use engineering mode) does a mode exist for QC snapdragon?
But : are you sure your are getting 4g+ and not only 4g?
Because many xiaomi phones including the 5 plus don't have interband carrier aggregation on bands 3+7 (only intraband which is used in China).
There is however a patch on the miui forum to enable it. But some users have reported that the resulting speeds are slower than 4g. Others haven't said anything.

Yes, search Google for the ### code tu access the engineering info. You can see the bands there.

it says 4G+ in the notification panel (next to my battery percentage) and i posted the mps in the first post...do those speeds (in your opinion) equate to 4G+...i just want to know if band 20 is unlocked? but there is no way of bloody checking?!

There are at least three versions of this same model (not variant);
First, the chinese version that was the first available in stores like Aliexpress, Gearbest and others (I bought this), it has firmware only in chinese and english and then to solve this some sellers flashed international rom to devices that were dispatched for other places in the world out of China and some devices came unlocked out of the box.
A second version precharged with international firmware (by the manufacturer) with more languages for the great demmand in the world.
These two previous versions came with the bands 4G: FDD-LTE B1/B3/B5/B7/B8 and there´s no way to enable more bands cause is a limitation hardware related.
A third version Global that came with the bands 4G:FDD LTE B1: 2100/B3: 1800/B4: 1700/B5: 850/B7: 2600/B8: 900/B20: 800MHz for a difference about 25Usd at starting in february; in red marked the added bands.

So should i really worry at not having band 20, or should i ask for a swap to a global version if it's going to cause me problems in the future with regards to OTAs (i.e MIUI 10 and Oreo etc) i have received working OTAs recently with no problems...

Mine is MEE7 version, there is no substantial differences, most likely is a method to mark the batches simply.
This version is the first chinese anyway the second has the same bands enabled, only the differences are the firmware pre-installed. Other simply way to check this is that this version came into a box very red with all chinese letters and the second comes in a red-orange-ish. Yes, sellers unlock bootloader in this first version to can flash international firmware more easily and without risks to brick device.
If your carrier works in the band 7 for 4G and also 4G+ then it has to work normally, Many countries don't work with the band 20, any of the bands allows implement the most advanced features so them depends on the carrier it mean that an operator can improve the reachability in a band but improve the strength signal in other; first option is most used in cities with less population to reach great distances and a second is used to improve the quality when demand it's highly required.
No worry about OTAs, updates, miui 10, this version is absolutely functional and working great.
@seedaripper
Hi
If you can get hold of an O2 SIM try and see if it will work in your phone, if it does you have Band 20 (800), as O2 only use Band 20 in UK.

No, I´m very prideful for this device, it´s not a fake at all, the great difference is only the two bands enabled in the global (really) version but I didn´t need this.
There is something that I noted like a difference within miui roms and any aosp based rom, the signal in aosp roms is slightly better than in miui roms. A simple way to see the strength is going to Settings/about phone/status/sim status you will see a range normally between (in my experience);
- In aosp based roms it´s -83 to -91
- In miui or miui based roms it´s -91 to -97
When the level is more (in a negative scale) it´s mean better signal. That´s about cellullar signal not specifically the uploading/downloading of data, for this there should be an application in Play Store also some custom tweaked roms can improve this.

Ok so i'm getting 83dBm 57 asu? don't you mean when the level is 'less' in a negative scale i.e the lower the better?
Yes, i'm pleased by the phone, just a bit worried about future updates, to be honest (with regards to it being a foreign ROM on a Chinese phone) i don't use my data much (only when travelling abroad or journeys within the UK) otherwise i leech from wifi...looking forward to MIUI 10 (and fingers crossed an Oreo update in its wake)

No, definitely you don´t have nothing to worry about, remember that really all R5+ are chinese, I just referred to a chinese version to indicate how it´s recogniced the first version but Xiaomi considers all these versions like upgradable.
You have an excellent signal strength, you forgot the symbol (-) and it´s correct the stated before, in a positive scale a superior number is more and in a negative scale an inferior number is in the same way by the logic of the opposites; more.

No LTE

I got my phone in Israel and I think they sold me the Russian variant of the phone since I got a russian charger (an official one so I don't mind) and the only problem I have is that even tho it says on the settings that LTE is enabled I never got an LTE signal even tho my sister's note 5 gets LTE all the time and we're on the same carrier
Should I reach out to the store or is there a simple solution that does not require flashing a firmware and stuff?

S9+ Exynos Dual SIM 4G Speeds affected tremendously after Pie Update

Hi there! I have a S9+ Exynos unlocked, bought from Germany and I'm currently using it in Romania with a Romanian SIM card. After installing Pie Update my Data Speeds went down a lot to a point that I can't even watch 1080p on YouTube. We are talking about a difference from 50mbps (Oreo) to barely reaching 200kbps (Pie). Expect all of that the update is great, lots of beautiful changes. Wi-Fi is same as usual (very good speeds, not affected in any way).
Does it have anything to do with the German version of the firmware? Maybe the modem file? I'm thinking about waiting for the Romanian firmware (android pie) to install it over the DBT.
What do you guys think?
P.S. I had the same experience when I first bought the phone, but I can't remember what I did to bring the 4G to its full potential because I did both install the ROM firmware over DBT and also did a factory reset, which I rather do not do again now.

Question Anyone tried to flash XQ-BC72 with XQ-BC62 (US Version) firmware?

Just got my Xperia 1 III (XQ-BC72) couple days ago, flashed SEA firmware with no problems so far. Except too bad it doesn't support Volte in Canada, which used to be fine on my previous Xperia 1 J9110 with SEA firmware as well.
I was wandering is that possible to flash it with US firmware to unlock that, plus features like more 5G bands support?
Anything helpful would be appreciated.

I flashed US firmware yesterday but it appears that it still wont work with Verizon even though all the 4G bands are there. I could care less about 5G where I live. I have CMDA less feature activated too but still no go. Worked fine on the HK version of Xperia 5 II so I though I would be OK on this one as well.
@i7killpii you are unlikely to get VoLTE to work (aside from maybe on T-Mobile). Its possible that a Canadian provider may also allow it but I doubt it. You also wont get access to more bands just by switching firmware. Whatever bands came with the phone is all you have access too.
@charlatan01 you can follow the directions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-flashing-xq-at51-firmware-on-xq-at52-device.4147027/
These are for the Xperia 1 II but its the same process for the 1 III as well. If you use Verizon and somehow figure out to make it work, let me know. Please note, flashing firmware will erase everything. Also I am not responsible for any bricking or issues you may get into. It worked for me on the first try.
I flashed my XQ-BC72 using XQ-BC62 rom before. I cannot afford 5G plan so I didn't try. About VoLTE, I am using Fido and the carrier services are not available (including VoWiFi, VoLTE, showing 4G instead of LTE, etc.). Also I got a lot of problems such as LTE connection disconnection about every 30 seconds. So I flashed it back to TW rom. Still all carrier services are not available but at least the LTE is functioning.
I've searched about the carrier services issues. It seems it's because the carrier isn't cooperating with Google so no carrier configuration is available (I'm not sure because fido has android phones on their website).

Thanks for the follow-up. I managed to cancel my order for the Asia version and am going to snag the NA version when I can.
try only flashing /OEM partition with the OEM files of the firmware from your area.
Usually that brings VoLTE functionality and stuff

I called Verizon and got them to add the IMEI to my phone line along with CMDA-less feature. It actually worked. I can make phone calls and send/receive texts so it appears its possible to get Verizon to work on Asian model. However, VoLTE is a different story. I dont think I will get that work.
