Hi,
I dropped my mobile a few times and the screen cracked. It was working fine until, one day it started acting weird. Ghost touches on screen. So i got my Touch screen and LCD replaced at a local mobile store. After this, i started to experience very high battery drain. Phone gets switched off around 20% battery. I changed my ROM to see if it was rom related. But the same thing happens. Even on standby, the battery drain is high. It dropped around 20% in two hours with very light use. I think the new panel is the reason for this problem. Is there a chance for this new lcd to affect the battery? Can someone help me.

With very light usage, I've managed to get my Evo3D to last just shy of 2 and a half days. When actually using it, it's been a bit hit or miss, some days it tanks pretty fast, other days it's done quite well. But one thing I have noticed is that sometimes, especially around the 35% range, it'll spontaneously drop 10-15% (it actually did 43% straight to 14% this afternoon). It's visible in the battery use graph as a sudden nearly vertical line. It's never happened when I had the screen on actually doing something, it just happens randomly after turning the display off. Has anyone else seen this? It's pretty confusing.
First thing is first....
Did you download spareparts and see what is consuming battery? In other words, check for a wake lock.
You have to give the battery time to get conditioned. It gets better the more you go through charging cycles. I'm at 75% after 8 hours of moderate usage and that's pretty consistent for me.

For the first week or 2, the phone has a hard time understanding how full the battery is. Try draining it down to 50% or so, and then resetting it. You'll probably see a sudden drop or rise in the battery%. Resetting it will force the issue, but it can also happen while the phone is on. That's pretty normal till the the phone "Learns" the battery.
It doesn't mean you suddenly used 15% of your battery, it would probably explode if you did that... it just means the phone re-calculated the battery's life and changed the number.
Your not alone as soon as mine hits 35 percent ill shut the screen off and here it beep at me and bang its at 14%. lol same as you.
Don't know if it will help you.
I had a similar issue as you, battery would get to around 30ish % I could turn the screen on check an email, set it down and bam 14%, and the low charge noise.
I wasn't trying to fix it, instead I was doing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153371
When I attempted this I had about 35ish percent battery left, following the directions my phone restarted when it came back up I got a 1% battery warning, then my phone went into emergency shut down. I thought something happened and I was going to have to return the phone. I powered it back up and it read 33%, from there on out my phone now drops a % at a time, and my battery life is as good as the other people who get phenomenal battery. I'm going on 48hours with light usage and still have 25% left. I've txt'd music, videos, nothing heavy.
Take it for what it's worth, I don't know what happened maybe the data reset, resets the battery calibration, I have no clue, all I know is what happened to my phone and the result.
So, I was playing Plague Inc. and my screen started flickering. Less then a minute after that my phone turned itself off.
I removed the battery and charger etc, but now it says my battery is at 0%, and I am having issues with the mobile network.
Ok, just checked, mobile network seems to be OK - but battery still at 0?
Please help!!!!
Maybe it just got severely drained
if it were me, I'd inspect the battery, and if it isn't bulging and looks normal, I would charge it for at least 2 hours with the phone off and not touch it once. Then check back and see if it's recovered.
Hey guys,
I have had my Galaxy S2 for over a year now. I have not always had great battery life but I blame that on my providers ****ty 3G connection.
My longest battery life I had on Hydra h2o ICS rom and that was about 2 days with 2.5h screen time. Those were the good old days.
Now I'm on Vanilla RB with the DorimanX kernel and am getting a little concerned if my battery could be failing me.
I have tried for some time now to get stable, good battery life on the JB ROMs and it doesn't seem to be working. This is my case:
I charge my phone at night and use it over the day. The past weeks my phone has really been heating up and the battery is draining to near-zero levels within 2 hours of screentime. For instance I was playing a game the other day for about an hour on and off and lost 70% of my battery. The thing is that when the battery drains this quickly it always seems to slowly increase as the day goes by and if this happens, the phone can hang for an hour or two on the last 2%.
This I find really strange and have tried numerous times recalibrating the battery and doing cycles and everything I have thought of. I don't have any strange wakelocks that can explain this drainage.
For instance my phone completely died on me this morning after rebooting it at 50% and it booted up with 1% left. I then took the battery out and waited a couple of minutes. In the process I checked the battery out and it smelled strange. I also thought i noticed a slight bulge on one of the flat sides of it. When I popped it back in and booted my phone it was at 13% and slowly increased to 22% before starting to discharge again.
What I'm wondering is if my battery is broken and I should buy a new one of eBay?
edit: Right now I was charging it and rebooted. It went from 22% to 63%. Isn't this just a bit strange?
If you detect a slight bugle one side of the battery.
It means it is time to change the battery before it burst.
The battery is not hold a proper charge or discharge it properly, itr could be one of the filaments maybe damaged in the bulging area.
Okay, is there any aftermarket battery that is better than the stock Samsung one?
I also have the same problem after flashing on stock ROM. Solved with app "battery repair". Honestly it was not original (replacement) battery, but it still works well.

I presume you've done a battery calibration in between roms

Yes, multiple calibration attempts.
But it's the bulge on the battery that has me concerned. It´s even ath the point where my back cover can't hold back anymore and sometimes comes loose where the battery is bulging.
One thing I'm noticing is that in AnTuTu Tester it shows the battery at higher voltages than the 3.7V on the back of the battery. So far I've noticed this go as high as 4.2V.
Is this something that is not ok? If not, could it be my phone or my battery's fault.
edit: 3.2V now during testing...
edit2: went all the way down to 2.7V during the testing (about an hour passed) and I experienced heavy screen flickering at around 22% left of battery and then the phone just shut down. Battery temp was at 39° right before shutdown.
Just recieved a new 1650 mAh battery today in the mail. Gonna give it a few cycles and post the results here.

It's works for me, but not a panacea for all problems.
Hi all, thanks in advance for your help.
I've been having crazy drain trouble with my stock battery for about six months now (the battery is currently 15 months old). It's draining like crazy, it goes from 100% to dead after two hours of browsing/reading an ebook, even less if I'm playing something like Candy Crush Saga or Asphalt 7. I tried going through several apps such as Wakelock Detector, Better Battery Stats, tried recalibrating the battery and haven't found an obvious culprit - other than the screen, which alone uses up something between 40 and 60% of the battery.
Is this normal?
Sometimes, when the battery is at 30% or less, it will just drop by several percent in the matter of seconds, for example if I switch on mobile internet. If I'm using the phone at <10%, the screen will sometimes start flickering, and the phone will freeze and remain like that until I switch it off manually.
In addition, if I connect the phone to charge, in about 70% of times, it will incorrectly show something like 45-55%, even though it's depleted. Then it remains like that until it's charged up to that point and then the percentage starts rising again.
Honestly, I'm tired of having to bring my charger everywhere and ending up with a dead phone whenever I need it for a longer period of time. I don't remember the last time my battery didn't die by the afternoon
I'm facing exactly the same issues and yes, honestly I believe it's time for a new battery.
After 15 months, assuming daily charging, you would have approx. 450 charging cycles. Lion batteries are known to age and to lose capacity after so many cycles. Try a new battery, if the problem persists, have your phone checked.

Hi guys, My device keeps turning off randomly - I haven't found any correlation between battery percentage and turning off nor what app I am using. Happens at 80% as well as at 35%. It just straight turn off, no rebooting etc.
I haven't experienced this behavior while charging though. Also I experienced few times that even when the battery was at like 40 % and phone turns off on the turning off display when there is a sign turning off and litle circle under it, the battery indicator in status bar suddenly turns red as it's empty. Phone turns off and while I plug in the charger it shows correct percentage - e.g. 40 % again.
about phone:
This started cca 2-3 weeks after display change, I thought there might be an issue with connectors badly plugged in or something- checked and everything was ok.
Phone was running on custom ROM Pixel experience (android 10) for over half a year without any issue so I thought there might occur a software issue- I flashed new ROM - Lineage 18.1 (android 11), sadly it didn't solve the issue.
I also did a baterry scan with app Battery Recover 2021 with results: Low 2 %, inactive 3 %, healthy 95 % so the battery is also not an issue.
Only thing I found that is not 100% working is power button, even when I take the back housing off. It's probably worn out and I gotta press it few times from random angle/press with force to do what it's supposed to do.
Can this be the issue? Can this piece of hardware cause random shutting off? Any ideas?
Thanks guys
How old is the battery? It's a prime suspect.
They're cheap enough, throw a new one in.
Replace the power switch if possible as you know it's bad.
Otherwise if it's not gotten wet or dropped and the connectors are all ok, barring the above former causes it's likely a C port pcb or mobo failure.
Do some Google searches for this series of phones to see if others have had similar issues and the cause. Use XDA in the search to find results here.
the battery is original, so 4 years old? It last 1-2 days prior this turning off issue has happened so I think it's capacity is fine, nevertheless I still ordered a new one and I'll give it a try since phone is not turning off while being charged.

Degraded Li's can fail just like that.
A degraded Li is defined as one that has lost 80% or more of its original capacity. That's when they should be replaced to prevent a failure which can damage other components.
A swollen Li is a failure.

thanks man, it was the battery. I replaced it and phone works, no signs of random turning off.
Yeah batterys are usually the thing wrong
