So I have a ZTE Z718TL through Safelink--it's free so I really cannot complain, and in fact I was so happily shocked it was a ZTE rather than that crap alcatel that I've bragged for a month....ONE issue: It only has an 8 G internal mem, so of course I happily stuck a 16 SD in only to find that my various apps do not save to it, even after I switched it in settings! I have gone into settings -> apps to find where I can "move" whatever over to the SD and there is no such option! I have it set to "save to SD" but so far I think it's only saving photos there, b/c I uninstalled a few apps and then reinstalled, etc and it's just using up the Internal. The card says there's 74 mb or so but there simply is no way to see what, exactly is on the SD vs the Internal. WHAT TO DO? ALSO: I use Linux on my laptop and I would like to root this ZTE since there is so much bloatware....should I go with the King Root app (apk)? Anyone have any suggestions about the root, flashing a rom, etc (this will be my first time)

Most of the apps on my nook tablet will no longer update. I get the error that there is no room left on the device, except that there is room on all three storage devices. I have over 5 gbs left on the sd card, i have most of the "/media" partition left and i have over half of the b+n restricted section left, most of it in fact. I have deleted a lot of the apps i had. I even moved one of them to the sd card and then tried to move it back and i got the same error as the updates. Any ideas would be helpful.

What system are you running. Stock, rooted, CM7, CM9, Internal or SD version?
Might be able to shed some light if I have a bit more information.

Not sure what exactly it was when i rooted it. i think it might be cm7. it was an sd root. i found a youtube video walkthrough for it. the zip i downloaded was "SD_ROOT_NTV4"
I double checked the space left on my storage. i have 90% left on B&N content Storage and 88% of Other Storage.
I also have 5+ gigabytes left on my 32 gig sd card.
EDIT: It was Abert Wertz's SD Root files.

update issue
I had the same problem. I also rooted using Albert Wertz' sd card root vidoes. I found I was able to update some apps by "archiving" via the nook app library (hold down on app then choose 'archive' from the options), rebooting, and then unarchiving the program.
I just got the new Evo LTE, and I had photos on phone storage/internal storage. Using ASTRO, I tried to move them into my new 16gb SD card (it was clean, fully formatted and everything). However, it stated that the "MOVE FAILED." and then the pictures were just gone! They didn't go back to the original location or anything, it seems as if they were deleted off the phone and SD card completely!
Was it the phone? Or was it ASTRO? Should I have not mingled with the internal storage and the external storage the way I did? Is there any way I can get those photos back (there were about 500 photos)??
Please help, I've grown desperate. I even went to the sprint store but no luck.
no comment on the error (although I've only moved that many photos back and forth between the phone and card while plugged into the computer), but I've used Hexamob Recovery PRO *ROOT* with great success to restore accidentally deleted photos (there's a free version too - I don't know what the difference is). You should also consider automatic photo backup through dropbox if/when you're able to recover them.
I have to root this phone to be able to use that? I wasn't planning on rooting it yet because I just got it.. Is there another way to recover them? I don't even know if it'll be found in the SD card or the internal memory..
I think all of the "undelete" apps (and there are a few of them out there) require root - sorry.
Hey there,
I finally got the courage to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P5110).
All went well. Put Odin3-v1.85_3 on it and shakatu_recovery-clockwork-unofficial-6.0.3.1-p5110.
After rooting i installed (as decribed on the webpage) a custom firwmare: cm-10.1-20130409-NIGHTLY-p5110
Everything works smooth and easy and fast (!), way faster than the stock firmware on it.
BUT: what happened to my internal memory? I only have a few apps installed (should be around 3 Gb), the same apps when i had stock firmware, but when i tried to install a game, it surprised my i had hardly any internal memory left!!!
When i go into settings and go to storage, the device calculates how much free space i got left. It shows me i have around 600 Mb left. Graphically it first shows it's almost full (grey bar), but later after indexing it shows the correct amount of free space. But the text underneath it remains around 600 Mb.
When i go into a file explorer and give it superuser rights, i can go to upper levels of the internal storage and there are loads of folders there. It seems it has something to do with the rooting or the stock firmware (backup or something)??
How can i clear more internal memory? Should I do some sort of wipe again in Clockwork Recovery??
Thanks for reply! :good:
BTW: swapping internal and microsd card memory is not an option for me.
Below i wanted to put photos what my device shows, but i'm not allowed to do so since i'm a newbie.... :crying:
I believe you have the tab 2. This is the tab 10.1 forum.

You're absolutely right...
Can anyone move this to Tab 2 section?...
Rooted, running 509.
Problem #1: My internal memory is full.
What do I need to do to be able to manually have the button option to move an app (in Apps Manager) to the SD card?
I have installed Xposed modules and even SD Card "fix" apps. They say the necessary alteration to the file has been made. But I see no options in the settings menu or in Titanium Pro.
Problem #2: I believe that I have made a nandroid back up on the phones internal memory. It's 8 gigs. I just made one on sd1, which showed the correct amount of storage on my SD card during the check before running the back up.
Using Root Explorer, what path am I looking for to remove the 8 gig back up from the phones internal storage. (It also seems to be referred to as "sd".)
As an aside, I'm also curious as to what you are all seeing as time stamp dates on your backups. Mine has the year at 1970.
I do see that I have some data from some apps on the sd card. But there's no way (that I can see) to manually control that like the old menus had.
Thanks, all!
I gotta say that I also never noticed our Lollipop doesn't do apps2sd. Dammit, Verizon.
I own a Nokia 6, never rooted, 8.1.0 with the latest security patch installed (1 August 2018).
I have 32 GB internal shared storage and 64 GB microSD card installed. Be it a good or bad idea, I have formatted the card as internal storage, and migrated data to it using options available in Android settings, no third party shenanigans.
When I look at apps' details, those that have the option to choose storage signify that they are on sdcard.
Now, to the problem: I approached about half of used space on the sdcard, that's a bit over 32 GB, and I'm closing in on about half on the internal shared storage, that's about 13.4 GB used at the moment.
However, even though it would look like I have lots of unused space left, the phone started to act as if I don't have any. But... Not always. Let me elaborate.
I can't make a picture or record video, all I get is: "there was a problem with saving your photo or video."
I can't download files using a browser. It instantly fails.
I can't install apps from Google Play Store like "Google" and many others, however, I can install some other apps, seemingly at random (but if it fails, of keeps failing).
I can - because I just did - download security patches from settings/system updates....
From the above I speculate without any specific Android knowledge that:
- the internal shared storage isn't a single partition spanning the whole of built-in memory but rather is partitioned into multiple... Well, parts, therefore:
- there's probably a /system, /data and /user partition (forgive the layman guesswork on the names). There's probably also a /swap like in *nix? Then again, I guess not because that would probably slowly kill internal storage flash memory...
Anyway, from the above I gather that the simplistic reporting on how much internal storage I used doesn't let me know that I might have ran out of space on one of those discrete partitions.
That might explain why some apps I can install (they can be installed in external storage, so they do) and some I can't (they need to be on internal storage for whatever reason).
I have tried looking at the app info to maybe move apps to SD card but any and all I check either don't have the option or they already are on SD.
I tried deleting files and removing apps with various results:
- some files I just can't remove, even though they don't appear to be in use (still, maybe they have handles open, I don't know how to check for that apart of forcing suspected apps close)
- some apps (HERE Maps) left a considerable amount of junk in Android/data after themselves, and none of my file managers seem to be able to delete these files.
- some files and apps deleted just fine and the used space indicator did reflect that, however...
I still can't save a photo or video, or download a file, and apps still either install or not, just like before.
That got me thinking that there may be a problem with file/directory permissions for some bizarre reason.
I'm stumped. I'm on the go, visiting Milan tomorrow and I won't be able to take a single photo. Not that Nokia 6 has a great camera, but it's there and I can't use it when I need it.
Halp?
A little bump
So, am I truly sentenced to factory reset?
Hidden Android dialer codes don't work at all... I think I'm out of options here.
Update: So I did end up doing the factory reset. Afterward, my phone started to work fine, with the exception of the microSD card that always showed up in the notification area as needing of attention. I tried formatting it as portable, and it would supposedly work if you went by the final "success" message, but it wouldn't change anything, and it would still not show up in file manager. The notification about it needing to be set up would still be there, no matter how many times I tried.
So I took the card out and connected it to a PC - tried formatting it, deleting and recreating all partitions, wiping it out, all supposedly would work in partition managers, but after the things were all done, it wouldn't reflect on the actual card.
Seems like it was dying already.... Fortunately, I had a 32GB card to spare, got it into the phone. Worked on the first try.
So that's all folks, my 64GB microSD card died on me, and that's the reason of all the anguish above. Now you know.
