Best kernel for RN4(mido)? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

I see that there are only 3 kernels available for our rn4(mido)
So cut short which is the best?
Faust
Velvet
Vulcan
and also best kernel manager>?

Kernel Adiutor. You can find modded version of it there on xda. Im using Faust, but you can try Velvet because it supports more governors etc. They are almost the same..

Where do I find Vulcan Kernel?

There is no kernel sources atm, so obviously no kernels for now.

Playing with a MIDO kernel I found

It's called velvet for the snapdragon cpu.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=187565
I'm using it on RR and I can't find much info about this kernel. This is the first time I've ever used a custom kernel on any phone other than what was built into roms themselves. I installed the kernel auditor from the play store.
Since I'm new to custom kernels what advantages could this have for me over the stock RR kernel that came with the rom?
Maybe not a good idea. Getting some random reboots.
Here is more info on Velvet kernel:

@prisoner1969 Are you still using it ?

I gave up on custom kernels with RR. It seems that pretty much every custom kernel I use I get random reboots or boot loops. I did try brateloslavia's mkernel and had some success with that one.

You can flash, but there's no xda thread available for that. You can discuss about it on its telegram group https://t.me/velvetmido

If stability and battery are the main considerations, would you advise using one of these kernels with miui or staying with the stock kernel?

That strongly depends on your usage pattern. But custom kernels are made to perform better than stock kernels. Every kernel has its own characteristics, some are performance biased and some biased towards battery savings. But for everyday usage I'd suggest a kernel which can balance both performance and power savings.
As far as kernels for mido which have MIUI support, I'd suggest Stormguard kernel as it is pretty well balanced.
But in the future if you plan on flashing a custom ROM then go for Franco or ElectraBlue kernel.

Tbh i don't think that miui should be used with a custom kernel, cuz the rom is already optimised. And the kernel in made to work efficiently, so in a word no tbh.
But mann why are you not trying out the custom roms if you are having an unlocked bootloader? I mean there lies a whole world of awesomeness and performance on the other side of rom world

Only because I have a problem with custom ROMs, but not with MIUI ROMs, where the phone goes into a bootloop, apparently from overheating. If I could solve that, I would certainly use custom ROMs.

If you want to like prevent overheating, then what you can do is like underclock the kernel. Setting the max frequency to something around 1.3 to 1.0 ghz will greatly help with the temps.

This is a really nice well described tutorial.

I like miui but I'm annoyed by the bug Wich causes the CPU to get stuck at 1689 MHz till I reboot.
I would like to flash a custom kernel to get rid of this or just find the fix.
Stormguard is ok but it makes webpages crash am trying to find a stable miui kernel

Underclock kills the performance. Might even kill the cpu, might*
