Using a Samsung S7 Edge for T-Mobile on Nougat 7.0 with Google Text-to-Speech version 3.11 is installed. Previously on the Samsung S5 there was an option to have Google TTS speak out loud any highlighted text via the "Speak" option - kindly note, I'm NOT referring to the highlight to speak option using Google Talkback but rather after highlighting text in say a browser, there usually are the following options: Copy, Share, Select All, Web Search, Translate, and Speak. Unfortunately, on the S7 Edge the "Speak" options isn't available after highlighting text.
I've tried the following to no avail:
1. Uninstalling and reinstalling the latest Google Text-to-Speech
2. Under Accessibility --> Text-to-Speech --> selected Google Text-to-Speech Engine with Language set as English and Default language shows that English is fully supported
3. In Settings under General Management --> Language and Input --> Speech --> Text-to-Speech (repeated the same process as above)
4. Restarting Phone
5. Clearing Phone Cache
6. Installing Google Talkback and turning on Highlight-to-Speak option - that's how I know it wasn't the same. Please note Talkback has since been uninstalled
If anyone has any suggestions on how to turn on or make the Speak option show up after selecting text it would be greatly appreciated!
Same problem here: ZTE Axon 7. Extremely difficult to find any information about this issue - it seems, not many people use it...

Hi,
The “speech” setting that is normally under the “Language & Input” settings is missing in my Newman K1 phone. I have checked the apps and it seems that the Google Text to Speech apk is installed.
Do you have any idea how to restore the problem?
Hi All,
I have a phone of Samsung Galaxy A5 with Ultimate GraceUX Rom. I noticed that , the accessibility services (Settings > Accessibility > Services) which control Greenify could not turn on shows message that "Greenify does not support the current system language. The Text-to-speech will be set to null, but this might cause unexpexted behaviour". When I tried to enable the accessibility the message came " unfortunately settings has stopped...
Then I tried to open Text to speech settings, it is always hanging
I installed Google text to speech engine and tried again. But the result is settings not detected Google text to speech.
I googled the issue on visit many websites. But did not find a permanent solution...also i understood that many users face the same issue on Marshmellow devices. If there is any xposed apps for resolve this issue please let me know.
Thanks in advance!

This is driving me crazy.
If I do a new voice activated search in chrome the result is spoken/read out aloud on the phone.
I have tried the settings option in the Google app, gone to “ voice” and changed to hands free only (the only other option is “on”).
But if I open a new chrome window or tab. Then use my voice to search Google the result is still read out as a summary.
I just want to be able to use my voice to activate the search but have the results returned as normal as text.
Help!
When I was using watsap and chatting my foreign friends, when I copied their text, the google translator was automatically appearing.
But now, after the android update, it doesnt happen. I tried settings in translator app but there is nothing to enable that.
Settings > Tap to translate > Enable
did not work.
How can I make the translator app button automatically appear whenever i copy a foreign language text?

Click to collapse
Did you checked show over other apps permission for that?
Or just reinstall it?
