Which MIUI rom is the best? Answer: None
Custom roms FTW.
Jokes apart: either use 8.2.4.0 or 7.7.6. Both are reported good for battery life and performance. 8.5.3.0 is buggy as hell.

What's the rom that has the best balance between battery and stability? Should I stick with the official stable rom or should I use xiaomi.eu or maybe CM13/RR, and should I install any particular kernel or use the included ones? Thanks a lot for the support!

I think you would't find as good custom ROM as MIUI 9. I was using MIUI 8 then I changed ROM to LineageOS 14.1. It was faster, but worse at battery life and much worse on camera. Then I installed MIUI 9 and I fall in love in this ROM. It's so fast and battery life is MUCH better than MIUI 8 (and much much better than on LineageOS).
But I think you must try yourself to know which ROM is the best for you
There's no *best Rom* exists, all you've to do is to try them and find one which meets your requirements.
About battery life, almost all custom Roms that available for Mido gives same battery as Miui. There are a tons of Roms to choose from..
Stock ROM .. Always Best ..
For me RR is best

I didn't tried extensively the MIUI ROMs, probably they are the best choice, but they're bloated.
Maybe rooting and de-bloating them could be a valid option... I will try when there will be a stable MIUI ROM.
Today I just unlocked my bootloader after a waiting of 6 - 7 days. So what is best for me redmi Note 4 SD variant...MIUI or custom ROM???? If the answer is custom ROM then what is the best custom ROM for this device??

I like RR but miui 9 works well. Just try both
Viper and Legend.
I've tried them all and MIUI 9 is the most stable and smoothest out there.

If u prefer battery life then miui 8 stable marshmallow is best...but if u want stock aosp taste with lots of customisation then rr ,,aospex,,cr droid,,viper os and if u want just a smooth experience with stock feel and good battery life then go for lineage os or slimroms

For gaming u r already at good one... Use pixel experience otherwise with spenix 1.9
Waiting for this too..

it's have everything I need, smooth and stable no useless app inside
I try to use Global Stable , Global Beta , Pixel Experience before but all of that not working well for me

Well, according to my experience, the most stable one that I use and I am currently using is crDroid. super stable and good battery life.
