So I noticed this morning, my Sprint Galaxy S8+ had a software update. 388mb in size. Just trying to decide if I should go ahead and update or wait because our badass devs are close to releasing root on these phones and don't want to prevent my phone from being able to be rooted. Anyone else get the update notification?

With the addition of calling plus it also gave me a message about rich communication when I went into messages.
I have removed battery icon, alarm and Bluetooth icons. Do you think it'd be ok to update without adding those icons back? I have uninstalled all overlays already and gonna enable all disabled apps. Just wanna know if it'd be safe to take update.

Not sure but I read it somewhere, you can test it out though ?
So I updated my s8 plus just fine and I just did my wife's and after the update installed, the phone rebooted and now this keeps popping up. It won't let me out of it. Is there a way to boot into a safe mode or something to get pass this? What options do I have here? I can't lose the pics she has on this phone.

I think that was the problem with updating my wife's s8 plus because I had the center clock mod installed on her phone when I did the update and I think that's what caused the system ui crash message. Now that we're updated, I would like to install overlays or use substratum again but don't want to crash my phone lol

I took the update earlier today. All my overlays are working just fine and even my Bixby remap app still works.

Same here, both my s8 + automatically did the code verification and it's working just fine

astonishing! thx i will look that up
With the exception of sending texts almost everything works. Results do differ from a carrier tp another regarding small issues like dialing service numbers and dialing the choices from the keypad when on a server call.

I'm using Simple Mobile (which is Tmobile) with my Rezound on ICS; Data is Edge, can make and receive calls, SMS but i'm unable to send/receive MMS. I also have a HTC droid Inc 2 and i have no problem sending/receiving MMS and data is also Edge.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really love my Rezound.

I'm that dev lol...ive been able to get 4g on a tmobile based card but it doesnt stick...it defaults back to edge...im still currently working on a permanent fix...and yes internet and mms works

no you must be on a gsm capable rom and obviously you need root and a custom recovery to install one...its pretty easy...and you need to set up the apn's to get your data...also easy

Raven can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you have to be in an area that has 1700/1900 MHz band refarmed for hspa+ to work. Or you will have to do some NV edits to get 3G/H+

No your right in order to get 3g or 4g some hard editing is required but you can still set up your data and get edge speeds for basic easy setup....however straight talk and att made a deal within the last few months....and requires their mini sim card and the mini sim to normal sim adapter to get 4g on the rezound I'm actually going to confirm this very soon...within the next week or so I'll definitely have an answer

I will try the nv edit for T-Mobile and if still a no go will go back to my ATT sim. Edge data is a lot faster with it. Good luck as we patiently await your findings with the mini sim

Did you manually and properly set the correct APN...not the one that automatically gets brought up....those are auto generated by the device tree build and is hard coded so it may not always work
Yes with the APN settings it chose I had no signal at all. Going to try the NV edits for tmobile now will post back results thanks again

No you dont choose it...you have to manually enter it in under settings then mobile networks....also make sure your sim card is placed in properly...even us dev's messed that up sometimes....also sun dreams rom had many issues for me...including a few gsm errors...try a different rom thats much more stable

When I loaded the pacman 4.3 I also found a CM 10.2 patch that I installed with it.I am guessing that is why it had 4 different apns to chose from and had one already checked when it booted up. When I found I had no signal I put in the apn info that came with my sim card and got data and texting working with it just with edge speeds. Should I not install the gsm patch? Do you have another rom to recommend? Thank you again for your replies and help

It works fine, you just get the message because you're rooted. The functionality doesn't change at all.

You actually can still unlock your bootloader and root using this, it just won't flash the custom recovery for you. You have to do that yourself with fastboot.
"unsoported device message" just ignore it, Wallet works perfect

It will work. It's how I rooted my phone.
It still works because it unlocks the bootloader via HTC DEV. From there you can fastboot a custom recovery, and from there you can flash anything you want.

I tried to use my free $10 at McDonalds yesterday and was unsuccessful! After I punch in my pin and tap to confirm...I was getting a message: Ask the cashier blah blah blah transaction. I don't remember exactly what it said. Have any of you got the message? How do I fix.
The cashier has to ring it as credit. Ring it as debit and it will not work.

I bet it comes to the one max this week...now, how much longer after that until its in a custom rom, 'cause most of us will not go back to stock just to get an OS update....or will we??
I guess me personally, I don't see a major advantage going through all the hassle of locking the phone all back up stock if I can get the same features on a ROM that sports the 4.4 Kit Kat features. I mean firmware updates, yeah maybe a loss, but risking hboot changes.. Na not till someone else tries it Haha

I am going to stock soon, just to get the OTA update and then upload it here. The only dev who had the international unlocked version was @navalynt and he was unfortunately bricked the phone He was the first dev to post a custom ROM for the MAX!
really wish it reaches early, but expect that to happen. keeping fingers crossed.
I think the dev's can quickly update the base, but the original One is going to keep them busy too!

According to the Roadmap Verizon Max just went to Certification ... Sprint Max is still in Integration.

Anyone know what is happening with the nougat update in the UK? I am sat on 6.0.1 with the 01 August security patch. Anyone got anything newer? build number is MPL24.246-45
Looks like US versions have received it but not heard of anywhere else having got it yet?

Installed it on my perfectly working Moto Z force this morning and it bricked it pretty much. Screen flashes every now and again. Took it to VZW and they are sending a replacement. Real bummer. Proceed with caution. Wish I had waited until I was sure no bugs were in it.

There is a reason because I don't like OTAs...
From what I'm seeing only the Verizon model got the update. The unlocked models are still waiting for a rollout. I'm hoping it's coming soon.

Keep hitting the check to updates button each morning and evening in a desperate attempt to ensure i dont miss the update. I am obsessed with my Moto Z have the JBL Soundboost mod along with the Battery boost mod and have the projector mod (hopefully) sitting under my christmas tree as we speak I've resisted the temtation to shake the box.

The OTA has been available since the day after AT&T also A LOT of the s8 apps work like bixby samsung pass secure folder etc. I don't even want the s8+ no more just gonna get like 3 cases and a glass screen protector. How do u guys like android 7.0 on the s6. I'm also sad to say AOD will NEVER work on this phone uprooted butttttt our version is the edge clock and mine has been more efficient since the update keeping it on from 12pm to 12am is really the only time to take a quince glance. Whewww that was a mouth full hope everyone has a good day :good::laugh:

US but if the update isn't showing up I'm sure u can always download the official g928v 7.0 firmware and flash via install from sd card (Don't do anything if you're not sure don't wanna brick dat nice edge+)

I love the update. I hate that I can't use free fonts anymore and the fonts you can use are a dollar each and not even much to choose from. Also (and this is a hardware thing) I have bad screen burn on this phone. I've never had any other phone get screen burn. I've been trying to see if the update is available for days now. No dice! I tried both OTA & the Verizon software assistant...
I'm using a StraightTalk (AT&T) sim card in my S6 Edge-Plus and from what I've seen, OTA is only available if you're using a Verizon sim card. I get the below error (and it has never worked really):
Settings>System Update>Check for system updates:
Service Unavailable
Software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later.
Can someone please post a link/tutorial to the Nougat firmware?

Well I'm using a Verizon simple card and it still not working for it must on the west coast and made it over here to the east coast I guessing

Idk if it is a region thing or not but maybe it's in the west coast and haven't made it to the east coast yet I'm guessing

Is there a way to get the firmware off your phone and upload to this forum thx in advanced

I'm not rooted but if there is a way I'm willing to help I did look in my internal storage and I didn't see an update file. Also I'm on da east coast

I managed to change my font with few apks for free I had to search really hard that's why I just settled with the few extras i found. Try search for official samsung font apks the few i have are below

Yea vzw phone and SIM but I checked for my update cause I saw the leaked roadmap and I've been checking ever since. And one day I just so happen to be at my mom's house and I checked and it Said 7.0 nougat update available to download now and everything worked out great.

I feel like if we use a 1 click root method it would work to a certain extent cause we don't have a custom recovery for this specific device which means we could brick a phone easier without the proper custom recovery

U know root super su root apps we still wouldn't be able to flash zip files cause we don't have a custom recovery and I think our bootloaders are still locked.

Ya it is cumbersome if i were u just disable them delete the updates for those apps and use the new smart manager. Also I managed to find the s8 live wallpaper if anyone is interested
