I like the default file manager app that came pre-installed on OOS 4.1.6 but I wanted to change the icon manually. I changed the icon inside 7zip and replaced original .apk file but then, File manager app disappeared. This is happening to all the apps inside /System/Reserve (system apps from Oneplus) e.g: Recorder, Music etc.
By changing the icon am I changing app signature or something of that sort? is there any workaround of it?
P.S: not interested in using icon-pack/custom launcher.
Thanks,

I know that you can set the TouchWiz to a customizeable grid and replace the icons at the bottom, but what I want to do is when I click on the messaging icon it takes me to handcent. I like handcents app but I like the stock messaging icon better. Is it possible to redirect the shortcut to handcent and dolphin for the browser?
I'm rooted btw and thanks.
You need to go to system apps and get the icon with an explorer (I love RootExplorer) from mms.apk and put the icon in place of the handcent icon. That make sense? I can't remember the names of the icons, but I want to think they are in hpdi or something. Don't quote me on file location though.
Alright I did that. This is what I did.
Went and extracted the messaging apparently, extracted handcent took the icon from the messaging apparently and put it.in.handcent and renamed it ic_handcent.png like the original, compressed handcent again as a zip and renamed it apk but when I try to install it keeps saying application not installed.
Any clue what I'm doing wrong?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I know how to change the icon in the apk but what I want to do isn't as simple.
I am using GO Contacts at the moment. Its a great replacement for the default dialer. My issue is if I change it in the apk when it updates it will go back to the default icon. I have tried placing the modified icons in framwork-res.apk but using the names that are used in the apk are not going to work (app_icon_contact.png, app_icon_dialer.png).
I have also added them to the launcher.
I am guessing the name for the icon will be something like com.jbapps.contact.png
Anyone have an idea on how to do this? I don't want to keep pulling the apk everytime the app updates just to change the icons.
Can anyone tell me how to edit launchers(stock ones)(NOT launchers like Apex,Holo, Nova etc.) , so as to change the icons of installed apps in the app drawer of the launcher.
The launcher I tried is a modified Chinese launcher.
It had it's icon files in assets/theme/icon/80
and the icons appfilter.xml in assets/theme/icon/icon.xml
I decompiled the apk and changed the contents of the folder to my choice of Icons which I took from an Icon pack app from play and replaced the icon.xml with the appfilter.xml file from the same icon pack and renamed it icon.xml and recompiled it with apktool.
The problem is that only the icons of settings, contacts, calendar and browser are changing. All other apps icons remains unchanged.
How to change the icon of all apps that is present in the icon/80 folder.
I hereby attached the original launcher apk below
The phone is running Custom Rom on Gingerbread 2.3.6
Any Help would be appreciated
Thanks.
Hi
samsung a520F 2017, 7.0 OS, firmware a520FXXU2BQIDm rooted with supersu 2.82sr5/suhide sbin install.
I am trying to hide app from appearing in Settings/Apps. The app does not have an icon otherwise on desktop or home, so I cannot use something like HideitPro (which is fine, as long as it has an icon on the desktop somewhere, since it only lists apps with icons).
I have googled extensively on the topic, but haven't found a solution.
Is there a way I can create an Icon for the app to appear on home or desktop, OR a way to just hide the app from app list? I think if I create an icon, it will list in HideitPro and I can then go from there and hide it from both desktop and settings/apps.
any ideas appreciated.
Hello.
I found an app called Foldery Multicon Folder Widget (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urysoft.folder&hl=en_US) that allows you to create a widget that shows the apps within a folder you created. Does anyone know of another app that does this? The problem with Foldery is that it hasn't been updated in quite a while and now it seems to crash when you try to add apps to the folder widget.
Anyone have any suggestions?
